We drove 30 miles from home to try out Babai Bandi. The outdoor sitting and the experience of eating out on open benches with lights were fantastic. It's self-service. You place the order from the menu for all items near the counter (basically a table with menu items and a student standing behind it) once, and they give you a buzzer. Whenever your item is ready, you get a buzz, and you need to go pick it up. All items don't come at the same time, so depending on how many you ordered, you need to go multiple times to the truck to pick them up. Regarding food, the flavors were good, but even mild was super spicy. If you love spicy food, this is a must-try. Overall, it was a fun experience on a lovely evening!

Very good, Hit the spot at midnight. Owner was amazing and accommodating to my request for my rice to be spicy!

Babai Idly was delicious. Definetly a must try place if you are looking for a late night craving spot.

great option for South Indian street breakfast in Denton I've heard about this South Indian breakfast food truck a lot, so it's been on my list for a while now. We were invited to try the food on the owner in exchange for an honest food review. It's open until pretty late, so we headed there at 9. There's parking on the streets and in the lots, but it does fill up fast. There's also a couple of benches behind the truck with nice lighting and a fire. We were given ghee karam idly, paneer dosa, bezawada punugulu, chicken pakodi, chicken fried rice, and chai. The stars of the show were easily bezawada punugulu and chicken pakodi. Punugulu was perfectly crispy and went really nice with the peanut chutney. Chicken pakodi was the best I've had in a long time. It's salted well and has cashews mixed in as well. Ghee karam idly was also super soft and delicious, but I felt like it could have a little less spice. Paneer dosa was very filling and a great balance between crispy and a soft center. The dosa could use a little less ghee though. Chai was also a hit, with a hint of ginger. Chicken fried rice was good too, but it had a little too much green chili sauce for me.

We walked into the unassuming interior and were surprised to discover a very limited menu, starting with a burger and only a few Italian dishes. We ordered chicken parm and chicken marsala and went to a cozy booth in the corner. Service was warm and friendly. Our meals were outstanding and the portions were huge. As we enjoyed our food, the other restaurant patrons stopped at the front counter to praise the cook. This place is a treasure. Delivery is a little quirky but the results are exceptional.

We came here for an early dinner after the show at the planetarium. Seriously get the burnt carrot. It's $10, for 1/2 of a carrot, but no joke, it's worth it. The chicken pesto entree was okay, but they used some other herb besides Basil in the pesto that is just not my jam-- dill maybe?, chervil??-- I dunno, but it threw off the flavor for me. That said, the cutlet underneath was very crispy and all the bites without the pesto were delish!. I have heard raves about the burger, so maybe that is worth another shot?? The service?, not stellar, just bored and unenthusiastic at the counter and s-l-o-w from the kitchen. The carrot came out quickly, but the cutlet took about 30 minutes after that, and the place was nearly empty. And, sorry to mention this part, the bathroom was filthy. I try not to correlate a dirty bathroom with a dirty kitchen, but it's difficult to reconcile.

I have eaten at enough sushi restaurants to know the formula…read more Step 1: Install bamboo. Step 2: Add a dragon. Step 3: Play mysterious flute music. Step 4: Name every roll after either a volcano, a ninja, or an apocalypse. Komodo Loco apparently looked at that formula and said, "Nah." This place has actual character. The restaurant is dark and cool without feeling like you're being interrogated. There are cozy little nooks everywhere, and somehow it manages to feel both laid-back and upscale. Like if a speakeasy and a sushi restaurant had a child who grew up with excellent taste. Then the food arrived. Look, I've had plenty of sushi. I've had good sushi. I've had "my friend won't stop talking about this sushi" sushi. Komodo Loco belongs in the last category. The fish was incredibly fresh, but what really stood out was that the rolls didn't all taste like slight variations of spicy mayo negotiating with cream cheese. The flavors were genuinely original. We ordered the Crispy Rice Bites, the T-Dub Roll, and the Horacio Roll based on our server's recommendations. The Crispy Rice Bites were so good I briefly considered ordering a second round before I had finished the first. The T-Dub Roll disappeared from the plate so quickly that I suspect it may have violated several laws of physics. The Horacio Roll was one of those dishes that makes you stop talking mid-sentence and stare into the middle distance while reconsidering every life choice that led you to not order two of them. Which brings me to our server: Breann. Or Breanna. I apologize for not knowing which one. In my defense, I was busy entering a committed relationship with sushi. My daughter is moving to Denton, and since we don't live here, we asked what we should order. Breann/Breanna immediately became the Gandalf of menu navigation. There was no hesitation. No "everything is good." No vague server diplomacy. Just confident recommendations that absolutely delivered. She was kind, funny, helpful, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. More importantly, she made my daughter feel at home in a city she's about to call home. As a dad, that meant a lot. I also loved how Komodo Loco celebrated Pride Month. Not because restaurants have to weigh in on everything, but because the atmosphere simply communicated: "Hey, you're welcome here." And honestly, that's one of the best things a restaurant can do. Good food fills your stomach. A welcoming place fills the room. Komodo Loco managed to do both. So yes, I'll be back every time I'm in Denton. My daughter thinks she's moving here for school. I think she's moving here so I'll have an excuse to eat at Komodo Loco several times a year. One of us is probably right.

It wasn't very busy at the time, but our drinks still took about ten minutes to arrive. We started with potstickers, which were delicious, and our little one's avocado came out quickly, which we appreciated. However, after placing our order, we noticed several tables seated after us receiving their food before we did. At one point, we were concerned our order may have been overlooked. When the food finally arrived, it was very good--no complaints there--but the wait was a bit disappointing, especially since most of what we ordered were appetizers. Overall, we'd still come back, just hoping for a smoother experience next time.
