Went there for the first time a couple weeks ago for lunch with a friend. The salad and lunch pizza were tasty. The problem was that it took over 1/2 hour for the guy to even take our order after seating us. We sat there trying to flag him or any other staff member down for the longest time. He seemed to be preoccupied with a big table full of Chesterfield Cougars in the middle of the restaurant, and ignored our corner completely. I haven't been there for dinner, but my advice is don't go here for lunch as you will lose a big chunk of your workday. read more

y wife and I went to Babbo's Saturday night after catching a movie at a nearby theater. We'd been to their sister restaurant near Plaza Frontenac a few years ago, and felt like trying this West County extension. Overall, we liked this place very much, for a couple of reasons: the atmosphere is totally chill, not a sense of any pretentiousness that you occasionally find in West County, the food is great and simply prepared, not trying to be anything but a good pasta restaurant, and we thought it was reasonably priced for the food quality. We both had specials that evening: I had chicken spedeni, while my wife had the cannelloni. The spedeni was prepared great, a nice large skewer of maybe 8 pieces served over a bed of creamy pasta, it was very good. My wife's cannelloni was surprisingly large, 3 nice rolls, of which she could only finish one, which means two for me as leftovers sometime this week, yummy. For starters, we both had salads, me the Caesar, and my wife the house salad. both of us thought they were quite good, nice fresh lettuce in both. We also had a couple of reasonably priced wines, she a white wine which I can't remember the name, but quite nice and dry. I had the house Cabernet, and thought it was quite good, and reasonably priced. Again, we really like this place, particularly for the atmosphere in the restaurant, very relaxed and low key, yet attentive by the servers whenever you needed something. The only reason I don't rate it 5-stars vs. the 4 rating I gave it is the food itself. It's very good artfully prepared pasta and a few other Italian specialties, but it's not over-the-top gourmet, just good food well prepared. You want good food, and a low key place without attitude, I don't think you can beat Babbo in West County. read more

It's a "spaghetteria" so I ordered the spaghetti. The meatballs were HUGE, way too much meat for the amount of pasta you get, which is swimming in a light-colored thin sauce... I've since warmed up to it and find it to be the best spaghetti in the area, a blatant insult to The Old Spaghetti Factory right across the street. Another occasion ordered the Neapolitan Pizza, which requires the use of San Marzano tomatoes. They don't use them. In fact, the pizza had no tomato sauce at all, a cardinal sin. The server was excellent and the wait wasn't too bad, considering they don't have anywhere to sit while you wait. There is nothing special about the ambiance of this place. The Del Pietro salad and the Caesar salad were both excellent as was the Lasagna and all were very large portions.. However, I have NEVER seen Spaghetti Bolognese that had red & white cream sauces mixed. I have eaten this dish at Pasta House, Olive Garden, Old Spaghetti Factory, Massa's and several places on the Hill and have never had it where it was stringy with cheese. I sent it back and it came back just as bad. The 3rd time they brought it out it seemed to mix red meat sauce with pomadoro sauce - we both thought it had a pungent taste to it & was not just bad, it was AWFUL. read more

Started off with the bruschetta, it was very reasonably priced at $4 and much better then what I have had in the past at the chain brand Italian places. For my meal I got the pasta diavolo which could have been better. Needed a little more spice to it. Over all good meal. read more

The food was delicious but our server lacked timeliness and attention and was more interested in visiting with her friends (it was like she was not working at all) at an adjacent table to ours. It took a while for her to bring water to the table, she did not check on us - there were only 3 other tables in the entire place because we had a later lunch. She did not offer a tea refill either. If we go back, we will see if the service improves. Management needs to be aware and inform servers of how proper service great impacts the patron experience, tips and word of mouth. read more

Well, this used to be one of my favorites until tonight. How does an Italian restaurant run out of bread at 6:30 pm? Maybe before waiting for 30 minutes for a table you might want to mention that to your customers or maybe as soon as you sit down we should have been told. Instead our waiter mysteriously avoided us, felt like we were invisible, he even told us he would bring us bread as soon as he greeted us! Guess he was just kidding or maybe he was trying to save us from all those carbs. Either way it was handled poorly & a huge disappointment! Someone could have gone out to buy bread at any number of grocery stores in the area, it would have been much better than the alternative. You failed miserably on this one Babbos! read more

The service is great and the wines are phenomenal the only negative thing I can say is that some of the customers are west county snobs! This was our first visit to Babbo's and I would not have known that it had been in business for 11 years. We were told that it would be a 30-60 minute wait for our group of six on a rainy Saturday night. There was sparse room to stand in the doorway and there was not a full-time hostess taking names for the wait list. To our surprise, some tables started to clear and we were seated in just under 30 minutes. There were only 4 beer choices available, but a few more wines. The food was enjoyed by all in our party and we were allowed to stay and have a conversation after we completed our meal. My expectations that we would have a long wait and then be rushed out as soon as we were done to clear space were overcome. We had an enjoyable meal and visit with the other two couples and I will plan to come back again to Babbo's in the near future. read more

We were seated right away. It took awhile for our waiter to get to our table (the restaurant was not busy). I ordered the Alfredo pasta. The sauce was amazing!! However the chicken was quite chewy. I will definitely come back for more! I came with colleagues for a birthday lunch and everyone in our party was satisfied with our entrees. We didn't order appetizers, because we noticed that the entree portions were quite generous and didn't want to fall asleep at our desks afterward. We all ordered the half and half, where you pick 2 and receive a half order of each, salad, pasta, or pizza. I ordered the pasta tutto mare. It was very tasty. The sauce a was not quite as thick as I like it, but it was still very tasty. It was a pasta that contained shrimp, clams and crab meat in a cream sauce and topped with shaved parmesan. I also had the house salad, which was simply lettuce with red onion, tomato and parmesan cheese in their house dressing which had a sweet vinaigrette flavor. The others I was with each ordered either house or caesar salad with the bolognese, eggplant parmesan, spaghetti & meatballs, or pizza.Everyone was very satisfied with their meals. I used to live nearby but never tried this place Bc the name "Spaghetteria" sort of turned me off. (I'm gluten-free, which is annoying for a lot of places to deal with.) I passed Babbo's running errands the other day and decided to look into. When I saw that they considered themselves a wine bar as well, I was sold. Came in for a late dinner after a long day yesterday. The food was incredible! Jack, our waiter, was above and beyond! The wine selection was good and reasonably priced. I had the del pietro salad, which was decent, the Chianti Classico, which you cant go wrong with, and the Veal Osso Bucco special. I was told that it was gluten free and served over their risotto, which was also gluten free. Believe me when I tell you that this was one of the most delicious and flavorful dishes I have had in STL thus far. Great quality food, excellent preparation, and amazing flavor. I went to Babbo's for dinner with my boyfriend's family for the first time the other night. I ordered one of the specials, cannelloni. It's not something I'm really going to remember, but it wasn't by any means terrible. and priced well. I also got to try the shrimp risotto which was pretty good (I liked it better than mine). There was this dessert I really liked, I don't remember what it was called, but it tasted like cocoa, coffee and cream and was very fluffy. It wasn't too rich either. My only issue was the chair legs against the floor. You could slide very very easily. and then get caught where the tiles meet, and be stuck there. The service was friendly. The place was full but we didn't wait too long to be seated. Overall, I liked the place, but it wasn't anything special. read more

I am a big fan of Sugo's on Clayton road, so I was really excited when Babbo's opened up much closer to me. I will start off by saying that the food at Babbo's really is good. The reason I am giving it a 3-star rating is because of the quality of service. I have been to this restaurant 4 times now and have had service ranging from terrible to passable. I've watched as our server chatted up the table next to us for several minutes and brought them their bottle of wine. She opened it for them, poured a taste and then poured the rest of the glasses. Our table was also waiting for a bottle of wine, which we had to remind her about. She then brought us our bottle, opened it, and set it on our table and walked away. That was by far the most offensive experience I have had at Babbo's. Other times I have visited the wait staff have been inattentive and have needed reminding about the glass of wine or soda that was ordered 10 minutes ago. As mentioned before, the food is really very good here. I have only tried the salads and several of the pasta dishes. I can tell you that the portions are very large, especially considering the prices. The field greens salad is my favorite of the salads. I love the gorgonzola cheese and the lettuce mix. The tutto mare is a family favorite, and the sauce has a little spice to it. The lasagna is very good. It is such a huge portion that we always have leftovers to take home. I last tried the spaghetti and meatballs. The dish came with 2 large meatballs (I could only eat one of them), and a large portion of spaghetti. The sauce was delicious and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I really hope that they can improve on their service standards. The food is so good and it deserves to have better service to give customers a great experience. read more

I have gone here several times this month with friends and to celebrate a birthday. Their food and wine selection is very nice. The first time I tried their Lasagna. It is a huge portion so I easily could have shared. The second time I had a Caesar salad and the eggplant parmesan appetizer and that was very yummy. My third time I had the chicken spedini and shared a Caesar salad with my husband. I took my daughter there for lunch and she had the Fettuccini and I had the Funghi Pasta lunch social with a salad. We both lived our meals. The service has been great each time I have visited and they have been very helpful in making suggestions. I highly suggest you give this place a try. read more

Well, I'll be honest we usually go to The Old Spaghetti Factory when in Chesterfield valley but we saw Babbo's in passing. We were intrigued in decided to look it up on Yelp. The Yelp reviews were all very positive so we decided to try it. We arrived early enough so we were greeted and seated almost immediately. My wife and I initially ordered a site selling to start off with. She had the seasonal strawberry salad and I have the Caesar salad. Both were very well made with a good amount of dressing. Both were very tasty also. For dinner my wife ordered the chicken fettuccine and I ordered the bolognese. The chicken fettuccine was one of the best we had ever had at any restaurant in Saint Louis. It had plenty of chicken but also had whole pieces of roasted garlic in it along with plenty of sauce. I had never ordered the bolognese but was also one of the best pasta dishes I've had. Wonderful experience all around including good service. The only thing that I would add just to note is that there is no kids menu available so our six-year-old just ate the regular fettuccine which she also loved! Great place all around which will certainly be a replacement for the other place down the road. read more

The Fettuccine Alfredo, Lasagna, and Chicken Spiedini are all all terrific, as are their salads (get the Field Greens) and pizzas. The lunches are super deals too, you get a salad and half a pizza or pasta for around $10. The place is also classy enough for a business lunch or nice dinner, but still casual. Yum, yum, yum, is all I can say! My husband, daughter and I stopped in on a whim for dinner one Saturday evening. We were pleasantly surprised by the fantastic food and excellent service. We were in the area and found the place on Yelp and we will be back (even though we live in Illinois and the restaurant is in Chesterfield...worth the drive). My husband had the spaghetti with meatball and shared with our daughter. I had the dinner special, which was grilled salmon served on risotto with asparagus. We all devoured our food, including the fantastic salad (that yes, did have WAY too many onions, as other reviewers have found...I can live with that).
