Terrific community folks who value service over money. I really appreciate what they're doing now (donations for pastries and bread drive-thru style) and how many people they've helped feed day after day. And not only are they generous but their products are so good! I've tried the spinach feta croissant, chocolate croissant, and baguette. All were baked to perfection and perfectly soft. They even through in a peanut butter cookie for me to try and that too was tasty. I really want to try one of their rustic breads but haven't gotten the chance to. Went to the bakery since they had such great reviews on their croissants. Bought a ham and cheese croissant and an almond croissant. They were both excellent. The problem was the Americano coffee. It was so hot you couldn't drink it. By the time you waited for it to cool enough, the paper cup was falling apart. read more

21 September 2023 - Staff lacking basic etiquette skills. Let me start by saying I was the only person placing an order, it was not busy. There were two parties of two people already set down with their orders. Cashier (female in farm supply hoody) takes my order, reads back my order with wrong items. I'll give her that one as she may have misunderstood the word bacon for the word turkey because they rhyme? We make the correction, and she points to the card reader for me to use then walks away. I finalize my transaction as she tells a male coworker that he has an order for some coffee, he replies he is on a phone call and points to his ear buds, and then asks her if she can pour them (it was only drip coffee). She moves over to the coffee station, pours two coffees, sets them on the counter near me, and walks back to her stool at the order station. Not a word, not a visual acknowledgement, not a "your order will be right up" or any sort of response. I stand and wait about 10 minutes for my food and start to wonder if anyone has even started my food order. I ask her if she had an "ETA" on when my food might be ready, to which she replies "yes, it will be set down right here when its ready". Turns out the male on the phone call is also the short order prep cook, and he's still dealing with something up front and hasn't yet started my food order. He walks past her and she says, "you have an order to make", so he heads through the doors to the kitchen. I wait another 10 minutes for two bacon/eggs/cheddar croissants, which he brought out to me. Again, not a thank you, not a sorry for the wait, nothing. This staff CLEARLY requires some sort of customer service education. The croissant on it's own may have been quite nice. However, the eggs must have been cooked in the bacon grease, then piled into the croissant with some mayonnaise. Nothing spectacular, just okay, but very oily. read more

We have been in here a couple times while visiting family that was staying at The Carlton Hotel. What a find and as a local I can't believe we hadn't been here more often! Everything is delicious and fresh! My personal favorite is the French Toast... just perfection. We ordered a variety of pasties for Christmas morning and everyone was thrilled... my boys especially enjoyed the chocolate croissants. Give them a try. You will not be disappointed. read more

The owner is here often and is awesome and super helpful. Croissants, cookies, scones, all of it is amazing. I love to come in and get a selection of pastries for a couple days. Coffee isn't my favorite, I'd stick to the pastries for your morning. Their sandwich selection is so so good and tasty. Couldn't reccomend it more. The lunch I had yesterday was simply outstanding. The BLT was quite fresh and tasty and I had a beverage called London Fog, that seems to be a latte based on Earl Grey tea instead of coffee. Normally, I love all their pastries. The sandwiches are good. However, last time I visited the store, I excitedly walked in and purchased a dozen assorted cookies. I was looking forward to having a soft cookie melt in my mouth when I got home, unfortunately that was not the case. I took a bite and almost chipped my tooth !!! Came in with my wife mid morning. We were in our cleaning clothes since we had just volunteered with ECO SLO. A coworker brought some pastries from the bakery a week ago. So, I thought I would swing by today and show my wife what the hype was about. Pastries are good- but I don't think I'll be going back. Paid $13 for two almond croissants, 1 morning bun, and a bagful of bad attitude/stares. We were not greeted. No customer service. There was a lady standing there- LITERALLY staring us down with her arms crossed. Not sure what had her peeved... maybe we didn't fit into the image they wanted to convey to their customers or if she was homophobic. Either way, it was enough for us to feel disappointment with our experience. Drove all the way from MB only to get crappy service. Not cool. We will gladly take our business elsewhere. Heads up!
