Amazing! It's a great local coffee chain on the Hawaiian islands, gets its name from the fact that coffee beans used to be carried down the mountains on a donkey's back... They have tons a variety in coffee flavors, try the chocolate macadamia nut or vanilla roast. They have a selection that will please mild coffee drinkers to the ones who need coffee that kicks them in the butt. They also have a great chai latte, you can pick up coffee to take home (which I should have done looking back on it). Went here on a recommendation from the concierge at the Westin Nanea because I had a bag of whole bean 100% Kona coffee that I needed to have ground. I tried Safeway, Foodmart and a few other places but I couldn't find a grinder to grind my coffee. I walked in and said hello to the Asian women working the counter and told her that the concierge at the Westin recommended I come here and you might be so kind as to grind this 100% Kona I have for me. She barely let me finish and didn't really look up from what she was doing and just said rudely, "No, we only grind our own coffee". A then asked if she could suggest somewhere where I could get it ground and she said "Safeway". I told her I had tried Safeway and they did not have a grinder. She then said, why don't you buy a grinder?". I told her I don't live here and am just visiting to which she said, "that is your problem, I can't help you! ". Wow, so sorry to bother you miss. Came here twice on our trip and thought the coffee was fantastic! I just had a plain dark roast brewed coffee and it was really good. My son had the iced Mocha and loved it. Been to Bad Ass twice now for an afternoon pick-me-up during a one-week stay on Maui. I've had the Maui Red and the Choc-Vanilla-Mac Nut combo drip coffees. Both were quite tasty. Also they have a cool logo and hats, shirts, etc. You know you're going to leave Maui with some souvenirs, so why not from a cool little coffee shop and not from the ABC store? Bad Ass Coffee Company made me fall in love with iced drip coffee. The staff is very friendly and the service is quick. We had a coffee shop at our resort several miles away but still made the trip to Bad Ass every morning On Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, there is an outdoor farmer's market in the adjacent parking lot. Definitely worth a stop. They let you sample local fruits and homemade dips, breads and cheeses. read more

Cute tiny shop crammed full of stuff - smelled amazing when we walked in too. BUT the attitude I got from the guy working the counter killed everything. The name was intriguing, but the coffee was stale and tepid. It might have been my specific experience, but the grounds seemed to have been sitting for a bit, and the barista didn't seem to tamp the puck hard enough. My espresso came out bitter, overdrawn, and lacked an appropriate amount of crema. Still, the store had some funny shirts, so I can't give it 1 star. read more

We got so hooked on the coffee slushies. They are like crack. We had to force the non-coffee people with us to go there every day, at least once. They just didn't get it, but we were in heaven. Great little indie coffee shop right on the beach. The prices are good. Got a double americano for under $3. The quality of the coffee is top notch. The open bright and early at 5.30am and are super cheerful, even on New Year's Day morning. Seems to be a one woman operation so service can be a little slow, especially when there is a line but it's worth the extra minute or two. We nicknamed this place "dumb-ass coffee" because of one particular employee. The coffee itself is average/expensive coffee but I realize we come from Portland where we have outstanding coffee & service 24/7. There aren't a ton of places to go so it's as good as any. We stayed just across the street from this coffee stop. It is a corner store in a small set of shops. It wasn't too busy when we went in around 8am every morning. We had the worst service I've ever experienced. We had a group of people that came in to order iced coffee and the guy serving us said "get the blended pre made drink. I don't want to make a douche bag drink." We were so furious that we left and went down the street. We will never go back. There was no one in the shop and this guy was too lazy to serve us. This is amazing coffee and so convenient. The specialty coffees are delicious and everything can be served iced for hot mornings.
