This is a new salon and my experience was beyond first rate. The work done on my acrylics was superb and Olivia, the owner is not only expert but also a delightful person, anxious to provide a brilliant service and make a customer feel welcome. My acrylics had to be customized because I play classical guitar and the acrylic nail length, pliability and shape are really specific. Olivia took the time and trouble to satisfy my criteria. I am now a regular customer. The service here was great, they were very pleasant and accommodating as my boyfriend and I decided to get manicures very last minute, and on the later side as well. He got a normal men's manicure, which turned out great. They cleaned up his cuticles, which were terrible in the first place since he's a nail biter, and he walked out with completely new hands. I, on the other hand, got a pretty abnormal dip manicure. To start, they didn't soak off the dip that I already had on, but instead used the dremel to file/sand them down, which led to a lot of burning sensations and pain. We put a tip on one nail that had broken, which was put on poorly so it's lifted from my natural nail and doesn't lay smooth. A lot of attention to detail was put in when it came to shaping my nails though, which I do appreciate. Instead of using a colored dip powder, they put on a very very thin layer of a neutral powder, shaped and filed, and then painted them with gel. I am now only two days out and already I have a nail beginning to crack, and the paint on another chipping. As far as prices went, this was not a cheap dip manicure, and I just would've expected a better quality manicure for the price I paid. I went about two weeks ago and I loved their service, I called an hour before they opened and they accepted me immediately. I got a full set gel x and a pedicure gel. I loved how fast and clean the establishment is. Sometimes you arrive to a salon and they dismiss you or your leave disappointed but this was not the case I love my nails and pedicure. I was excited to try this place as a friend recommended them. I was very disappointed. I asked for a dip manicure and was told they can do it. First- she didn't remove my current dip. Just filed down and put dip over it so it's too thick. Second- she used the light with dip- the point of dip is not to use the light. Third - I had a tip placed in a broken mail and it broke off and took my mail with it within four days. Fourth- my pedicure was subpar with ingrown and skin not cared for. I was so happy to discover Heather's Nail Salon is back in Santa Monica! I used to go to their previous location on Lincoln 10+ years ago and it was nice to see Helen is back in the area. I got a pedicure with Min who was always my go-to and she is just as kind and strong as ever (great massage!) I also had a manicure with Lynn and she was great! Regular mani lasted 2 weeks with me working with my hands, doing dishes without gloves etc. (I'm not very dainty). The only improvement I could ask for (if I'm being very picky) would be better lighting. I went in the evening and the lights were a bit harsh on my eyes. Overall, great experience and quality work. It's been two weeks and I'm still bragging about how nicely painted my toes are!!! Seriously - they even lasted through a Vegas pool party. I went here because my coworker recommended it. My plan was to get acrylic nails with design. Things were going smoothly. I showed them what I wanted, however the turn out did not come out good. A guy was doing my nails and I showed a picture of what I wanted and it came out a lot differently. I should've stuck with color and that's it. They do not do ombre colored nails, foils, and sticker jewels. They do have little sticker designs, but that's about it. Design - base is pastel pink with solid gold lines. I was trying to communicate with the guy that he did my nails the incorrect color and the line design pattern is wrong. But he just glared and said :No it Fine look!" I got flustered and said "ok...". I did not want to be mean about it. I felt more embarrassed when I told him the triangle he painted on my nail was off centered and did not match, but he disagreed and laughed. He then told the lady what I said in their language and both laughed. I froze and did not want to look like a mean complaining person. Worst part is, I was told it only cost $55. I added tip to be $10, but with everything it came out to $75. I asked why and he said tax and muttered... I don't know if I just got ripped off or not. I paid reguardless.. but I felt u happy with everything and just wanted to leave. Overall, my experience there was not good. Reading the reviews I do figure they give good customer service and seeing the photos it looks good as well. One day I'll give them a chance again, but right now, not for a while. read more
