I discovered Bagels Plus several months ago. On three different occasions I've bought a dozen "everything" bagels there. Unfortunately, the quality of the bagels is inconsistent. Please know that, as a customer service representative, I have always embraced comments to use as guidelines for improvement. This is the only reason that I am submitting a review now. First, let me say that I feel that the bagels are delicious. An improvement on customer service would definitely enhance the bagel purchasing experience. With every visit (pre pandemic also) I was left with the same feelings. Why did it feel that staff was distracted? Where is the flow in placing & receiving the order? The staff could benefit from receiving direction and work on making clients feel welcome. Today, I ordered honey walnut cream cheese. It has the taste of regular cream cheese with a couple of small pieces of walnut. The coffee was not very pleasing to me and I ended up throwing it out. For years, I would put aside the feelings about the customer service just to get a tasty bagel. I drive by so often, finally stopped to check it out. I loved that you can see the bagels being cooked, and that its in a funny house in the middle of a strip mall. I loved the gaggle of high school aged cheerleader types "working" behind the counter (don't get me wrong, they were great! We love coming here for breakfast, probably some of the best bagels available in the immediate area. Order's can be placed to-go or eat in, there is plenty of seating available at the location. Large variety of bagels available & while waiting in line you can see them making them fresh. Very rarely have we ran into an instance where they we're out of a certain kind of bagel, they seem to be pretty well on top of restocking. During the weekends, the place can get packed very quickly. Typically this isn't a problem as they have like 4-6 people working behind the counter but sometimes the line can get a bit long. Pricing is reasonable however my biggest gripe with this place is they are CASH ONLY. Recently to prevent this issue they did install an ATM machine inside the building, however there is a charge for using it. Honestly in this generation where I can even take credit card payments via services like Paypal or Square, this is kind of obnoxious (hence the -1 star). I realize there is a small cut from cards, but if you look at other reviews & on other services this is the biggest complaint. I have avoided additional purchases at the register sometimes based off of what amount cash I have on me that time. read more

Bagels are good enough. Service is spotty. I think it's a shame the guy doesn't take plastic. Coffee is probably 3 stars out of 5. Not a place to meet someone for a business meeting--too noisy. The staff is really friendly, polite and super quick. They sling those bagels and sandwiches with the ease and precision of skilled craftswomen. The prices are ok the only drawback as MANY previous reviewers have mentioned is the CASH ONLY policy. The menu is standard breakfast/bagel fare. The make a pretty good bagel all the way around but "the best ever" is a stretch. They do probably make the best bagel in the area I will say that. read more

Sandwiches are still good, bagels are still good, espresso drinks are meh. They make strange mistakes, mostly due to a really young and devoid of energy staff (as always). Also some of the menu is misleading, like the "jalapeno cream cheese" which is just plain cream cheese with jalapenos placed on too when you order. By that logic you could literally offer any "cream cheese" by just placing things on top (I guess my sandwich was a "turkey bacon and sprout cream cheese because they were on top!). Anyways, still good food. For peets sake it's 2017 accept credit cards or mobile payments, just get a square or something. read more

I miss working in Acton and getting bagels from Bagels Plus, so I was happy to stop there on our way to the Acton Arboretum. The staff was pleasant and they are following protocol for the COVID-19 pandemic. Something that they do all the time and I am so happy for is that they have certain people prepare the food and others handle the payment. I've never been spoken to more rudely in an establishment. While being rung up after ordering, I went through each item I ordered in detail (large iced coffee milk and sugar, sesame bagel with plain cream cheese, etc). I paid. And then 1 minute later the man who had rung me up didn't remember ringing me up. Made me go through every detail reminding him. And then accused me of not telling him I had told him about the large iced coffee, athough I had. I left embarrassed and feeling like I had done something wrong, when I had not. It's huge pain when you get to the counter and have to run over to the atm because who carries cash anymore? Seriously though, I'm going to dunkins until you get a debit machine. I know they charge you a fee for credit card transactions but stop being cheap and/or lazy. Only other complaint is that last 2 times I've been in, the girls messed up the meat on my sandwich. Absolutely delicious! I'm a bit of a bagel snob and a huge fan of Bruegger's Bagels but they're so far away. I've had quite a few friends tell me about Bagels Plus and to check it out. I was having my usual craving for a lox bagel sandwich, and boy was it amazing! I'm so happy to have a fresh, delicious, bagel shop right in town! Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Bagels are ok at best. Quantity of options over quality. They seem very much the same as the plastic-like ones elsewhere. I also found the ingredients terribly lacking for the price, and not proportional to the thick bagel. 1 piece of bacon from the microwave, 1 egg and a kraft single doesn't make a great bacon egg and cheese. My girlfriend also found piece of a straw wrapper in her bagel. It's also cash only Not sure what other people see in this place, but we had a poor experience. Likely not going back. read more

Lox on a bagel is probably one of my favorite breakfast items, and when I have to work Sunday morning I stop by Bagels Plus to make my day. The bagels here are awesome, and they have top notch sandwich making skills (I love that you get a pickle with the sandwich, heaven). In addition to the lox sandwich, they also have a veggie sandwich that is very good. Actually, now that I think about it, Bagels Plus has ruined me since I can't get a Dunkin' Donuts bagel anymore without being disappointed. A small price to pay really. Other cool things, they seem to always have a new style or seasonal bagel to spice up the selection. Also, they have salt bagels, which excites my inner sodium lover. Huge iced coffees and tasty hot chai. Well worth the stop if you live in the area. Real. Bagels. That's all you need to know. They make them fresh - boil 'em, and serve them right away. A real, honesty to goodness bagel is never great the following day without some work (wrap in foil and warm in oven, or toast it). Bagels Plus has many varieties of bagels and cream cheese, as well as a few other specialties like muffins. They serve a variety of coffee drinks and other beverages, which are fair. Nothing great, nothing bad. The breakfast sandwiches are a bit lacking.. but the real reason to go here is those bagels. These are the kind that don't need toasting - you get the nice crust and the chewy, doughy center to enjoy. Coming from NJ, I've ranted and whined incessantly about the lack of real bagels up here in MA.. fortunately, my new home of Acton has Bagels Plus. Special note: it gets mobbed on the weekends, and is cash only. You might hate every minute you are waiting in line, but every bagel you eat is worth the effort. read more

There can be a huge line on Saturdays and yeah we've gone a little later in the morning when there's a lull and the girls behind the counter were talking/giggling about who was going to prom with who. My dad had been coming to bagels plus for years. He raved about the bagels there. It had been years since I had been there since I was living inside the city and then made a move out of state. Recently, settled in Acton and came to bagels plus the other day to see if they were as good as they were before. My wife and I had great breakfast sandwiches! I lived in Acton for over a year, yet somehow I never stopped here in all that time. Part of it was due to my addiction to the bagels at Ichabod's, but the business there changed so I decided I'd also give something new a shot. We walked into a menu with more than just bagels, they actually have a decent list of sandwiches and salads. I wish I had known this before I moved as their vegetarian gyro sounded delicious! Anyway, we opted for bagels and beverages, as it was early in the morning. The cream cheese selection earned stars, with multiple full fat and low fat options along with tofu based cream cheese. That bumps them up from the 3.5 stars I'd give them if half stars were allowed. Prices we reasonable. We got two bagels, a large iced tea (brewed fresh daily!) and a coffee for just about seven dollars. The bagels were fresh, and while they're no Katz they were still really good. Cream cheese seems like it was homemade in terms of the veggies in it. The boy got a berry bagel which looked delicious. Points lost for the employees, school girls who were too busy texting on their phones half the time. I will say, they were attentive when someone came up, but it still looks bad for a business to have that going on. read more

While bagel sandwiches are good, service and signage are terrible thus the lowered rating. Came in when there was no line and went straight to the register. Ordered and paid....or so I thought. The girl saw me come in and go straight to her so she should have told me she only takes the payment but doesn't give my order to anyone. I start to see many people come and go with orders and after 15 minutes asked what the delay was. The register girl was zoned out and just said oh sorry I didn't take the order just the money. You need to get on the line....I look over now 6 people deep.... and order. No real apology or offer to get someone started on it. Terrible customer service. Also my son applied there 3 times with no call back but his female friend who applied the same day on the last time did get a call. Sign should say Now Hiring Females. This is the first time I've actually been in bagels plus but it's not the first time I've had the bagels. I've had veggie, spinach, onion, garlic, health, everything, plain, onion, and cheese and they've all been good. A bagel should be chewy and moist. It should be heavy and filling. It should, despite how delicious it may be, not leave you wanting more. A bagel and it's toppings (tomatoes, cream cheese, eggs, jam, lox, whatever) should be a meal. In this, Bagel Plus succeeds. Also, bagels plus has a lot of interesting beverage options (not just coffee), although I've only sampled the coffee and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either. And there is a small sampling of muffins, etc, if that's more your thing. The shop itself is cute and has plenty of room to linger there. I didn't look to see if they offer WiFi, but it would be nice if they did, so I'll try and get that info next time I'm there. Two things though... First: There is a charge for slicing bagels. Not that single bagel you order toasted with cream cheese or whatever, but $0.50 for half a dozen and $1.00 for a dozen. While odds are good that I'd have dropped this in the tip jar anyway(or more probably), I think the charge is ridiculous. That's is just good service. You're a bagel place. Slice the damned bagels if folks ask. I, personally, don't always ask to have my bagels sliced, but if I'm bringing dozens in for a meeting I will, and I have never been charged anywhere else. Which brings me to... Second: This place is cash only. I had a discussion with the owners about this and was told they would loose money if they had a credit card machine. To this I say, charge more then. Hell, even offer cash incentives, like a gas station does, but it's almost 2010 and not everyone carries cash anymore. Sure, I could go back out into the cold and head over to the nearest ATM, pay fees to take out cash, and trek back. But I didn't. Also, if you're going to stay cash only, please put a sign on the door. There was signage in the shop, but I didn't notice it until I got to the register and then I had to make them put back the dozen bagels I had packed up. (Sorry about that, truly, and if there was a sign on the door and I am just daft, please feel free to school me, but I don't think it did). Okay, so I know I've started a rant here, and this is not the only review I've ranted in, but, I'm sure I'm not the only person who rarely carries cash. Okay, rants aside. The bagels are good here, and I probably be back cash-in-hand on occasion if I am in Acton anyway, which happens on occasion. Go here, don't go to Dunkin, because their bagels taste like cardboard. However, I won't be purchasing dozens and dozens of bagels for the office here any time soon, which is a shame. Still, I see a bagel and some hot cider in my future. Hands down my favorite bagel place of all time. I live 3,000 miles away now, and I still make it a point to stop in here when I am in town. It helps that my parents still live right down the street. I have been coming here for delicious, crispy, soft-on-the-inside bagels and delectable cream cheese since I was a little kiddo (I used to come here with my high school math tutor in the '90's). The fact that it's still around should be proof that these bagels mean business. Their everything bagels are out of this world. They literally do have everything on them, including including salt, which is a key and oft-forgot ingredient that flavors the everything bagel to its full potential. Other favorites of mine are the half-sour pickles (I have yet to find somewhere that does this better- I dream about them), as well as the white hot chocolate, which is simply to die for. I commuted to Boston for many years and despite all of the delicious coffee shops and bakeries in that direction, I usually preferred to stop here on my way in because it simply can't be beat. I have been going to Bagels Plus for 14 years. I moved to California and we would have bagel Friday at the office. Of course everyone in my CA office knows all the details of bagels plus bagels because I couldn't stop talking about them. Great, freshly made bagels. They are large, but not gigantic, like some places make them.. This is a good thing to me. I don't want to gorge on breakfast. I like that their everything bagels are balanced in flavors. Too many bagel places overwhelm them with onion and garlic. These definitely have those, but not excessively.
