After our Mid-Autumn Festival dinner, I insisted we hunt for mooncakes even though most bakeries were probably closed. That's how I wound up at Bake Culture, where we gorged on the perfectly made (though pricey) Purple Taro and Red Bean mini-Mooncakes. The Condensed Milk Bun was a disappointment--not enough filling, but the classic Coconut Bun was perfect. While Chinese/Taiwanese bakeries abound here, Bake Culture edges out in my memory by being open late enough to make a good post-dinner dessert spot. Also gotta love the seat backs that are shaped like croissants and baguettes.

Chocolate Croissant Crisp is so delicious.

I went in a around 130pm ,not a particular busy time for bakeries so it was not crowded ( just 2 other customers sitting) I had time to make my selection because no one else was there. I like tjat the items are pre packaged ,especially when it's a self serve situation ( no grubby hands all over my food) The lady behind the counter was eating ( probably the only downtime she had ) but she'd greeted me and told me she would make the coffee I ordered when I was done with my selection . There was a good selection of treats . I picked out a few items and got my coffee. I stayed for a bit enjoying the coffee, charging my phone ( there are outlets) and indulged in the pasties. It's a clean bakery, modern aesthetic and they have good prices. I'd come back again when I'm in the area.

This reminds me of many new American bakery chains such as Paris baguette. Located on Bowery below Bowery hotel. Petite location with dine in seating. You can pick prepared bakery items and cafe drink options from boba to lattes. Reasonably priced yet didn't care for the pastries. The taro boba was decent and there's milk substitute available. Service is professional despite one person preparing drinks and check out.

On the way to the subway stop after lunch, Age and I passed Bake Culture. This is a fairly small cozy cafe on the Bowery near Canal. It seems similar to the Korean bakeries with trays to place your picks. The large cream covered cakes look aesthetically beautiful. I saw a large croissant crisp cookie that was half covered in chocolate. One cost $4.99 and three were for $10. I bought one and ate it at home. When I opened the package the cookie immediately deflated as so eating it had no pleasure. Even though it had nuts in it the cookie was soggy and I felt sad. After paying, I spied a parfait that looked tasty and plan to go there again to have it. Seating was attractive and service was kind.

This place is very good when it comes to charging your devices. Every table is accessible to an outlet that can charge 2 devices at the same time. Many outlets for you to use. The yellow tables are very clean and nice to use. Also if you buy a pastry then you can get a medium brewed coffee for $1.

I waited years till that initial crazy hype died down and glad I did. I went on a super early Saturday to pick up a cake and some buns. Cute little shop. Beautifully lit displays. Plenty of things to choose from but a little disappointed in most of the things I ordered. 6in rose lychee cake - I like that they are one of the few bakeries that have the 6 inch cake option. Perhaps I ordered the wrong one but there was more frosting filling than cake. For $32, it's better priced than many bakeries for this size. But disappointed at the lack of actual cake inside. It's absolutely gorgeous though! Little Bunny bun - suckered into this by my kids who love a cute bunny and a hot dog bun. The hot dog tasted more like vienna sausage, was not the usual hot dog length and it was 90% bun to 10% sausage. Taro sliced bread - was so excited to try this bread. The one good thing is this is not sweet. The bad thing was there was barely any taro taste. The bread also felt a little hard. Lemon bun - this was my favorite and redemption for the bakery. It was giant, fluffy, lemon-y goodness. Really delicious and would get it again. Overall, it's one of those trendier places. If you're looking for classic buns and breads, go to the older bakeries where they got older staff working there with classic Chinatown attitude (which you'll get used to during the hustle and bustle).

Came here in the morning this place is super clean. Great selection especially if you like taro items. They have a lovely selection of baked goods, including Classics like bolo bun, and egg tarts, but then interesting specialty items, such as an oatmeal raisin cookie topped with a Biscoff cookie!

Bake Culture is a small coffee and pastry shop in Downtown Manhattan. They offer a good selection of bread, pastry and coffee. They have few other locations in the city. They remind me of 86 degree bakery in SoCal. We ordered two pastry bread for a late night snack. Staff was competent. Indoor vibe was relaxing. Prices are competitive. Overall, We had a good order experience.

This place is a great find in Chinatown with a new age bakery twist. You'll find more elevated options and must try unique flavors. The store has ample seating, best to go during the weekend mornings when it's quiet, but if you like the buzz come by anytime when the streets are bustling. Definitely will visit again!

Really nice ambiance and baked goods! I've been a returned customer and found this place has both the creative desserts and the day-to-day stables!

Food (4/5): Got a lychee rose cake for my bday and a hot caramel macchiato. Both were pretty good and enjoyable. Service (4/5): No issues with the service. They gave us tap water when asked and were able to get our drink and cake as well. They weren't particularly friendly when greeting or talking with us but got things done. Ambiance (4/5): Nice spacious spot with a couple tables and bench seating. The bench seating is a bit cold when the door opens but the tables are nice and have outlets nearby.

Mooncake Lotus & Egg Yolk $4.99 for a tiny one , lotus paste was good but egg yolk was dry as shown.
Wendy B.

Bake Culture to me is 4.2/5! But this review is for Mooncake and it's probably 3.75/5 - pretty small & pricy. Then it has to be YUMMMY but unfortunately it was okay as the egg yolk was so dry. Mooncake Lotus & Egg Yolk $4.99 for a tiny one , lotus paste was good but egg yolk was so dry. Mooncake Red Bean & Egg Yolk $5.99 too expensive for what it is.

I was initially lured in by the good Yelp reviews. I liked that I could do everything online, I had a particular vision for what I wanted my birthday cake to look like and they communicated with me via email that could make my vision come true. I had a birthday celebration at a restaurant, which I asked The Evercake to have delivered directly to the restaurant. The delivery was smooth and the restaurant had the cake before I even got there. The cake was very cute and did look like what I had pictured. But...what I majorly disliked was the actual taste of the cake and being misled about what the contents of the cake would be. I selected the strawberry shortcake option for my cake and what I got was not what I thought it would be. I think it's quite normal for a strawberry shortcake to have like...real strawberries in between the layers. My cake didn't really have that, and if it did it was hidden in all the strawberry jam that there instead. I was not a fan of the cake texture too and the cream outside of the cake. Overall I felt so sad that I was feeding this to my friends and I told them that they didn't have to finish it because I wasn't going to either. So embarrassing :( Would you believe that this flop of a cake was nearly $200? And that's after the 10% coupon. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because it wasn't completely bad, but the cake not tasting good was the biggest thing for me. I would have preferred it the other way around at least, like if the service was so bad but the cake tasted amazing, but unfortunately that was not the case for me. After digging through the reviews some more, I found that this happened to another customer as well. I wish I had seen their review before ordering a "strawberry" shortcake from here lol dang

WARNING! CAKE was AWFUL! FELL APART!…read more I ordered a cake from a professional baker (Soma cakes) a few years ago that was beautifully made but was a bit bland, so I decided to look for a different baker. I found BakeStreet online, and I chose a baker, only to find out these are not "professional" bakers but HOME BAKERS! I didn't realize they employ home bakers until I asked my baker for the address. The NYC address they use for their business is NOT a real bakery! I thought these were professional bakers working out of a bakery. I found this part to be very misleading and only found out after I selected my baker and paid a deposit. My baker was 30 minutes from the city by car. I had made a deposit, and even though my intuition told me to back out, I decided to take a chance based on her reviews. I'm really curious if the reviews for the bakers are from real customers. Makes you wonder. You have to realize these cakes are being made in their homes! There are no sanitary rules that you know are being observed. My cake was placed in a cardboard box, and although it didn't really look like what I wanted, and the tassel, lettering, and diploma looked amateurish, what can a customer do after they paid for the cake and need it for a special occasion. Seriously, this is a great way to get ripped off! Once we got home and took the cake out of the box, it was falling apart, and the company had the nerve to tell us it was made properly! This cake was worth $100 maybe $150 but NOT almost $400. A cake that is baked properly will not fall apart after a 15 minute car ride! At the time that I picked up the cake, I told her I could hold it in my lap, but she said it wasn't necessary and placed the cake in the car. My Soma Cake that lasted an hour in the car to a different location never fell apart! The company had the nerve to offer me a $50 credit for a future cake that I would NEVER purchase! Why would I purchase another cake from a home baker? Poor customer service! They can enjoy my money! What a RIP-OFF! If a cake cannot make it in 15 minutes from pick-up to your location, there is something wrong with the cake! If you want to have a cake beautifully made, use Soma Cakes but don't get the red velvet. She is very talented. Her cake looked so realistic and we received a lot of compliments, but unfortunately it was bland, but it was a lot cheaper than what this company charged me, or you can just make your own cake. I'm sure it will be better than the disaster I received! Also, PLEASE do your research on this company. They have bad reviews on TrustPilot! If you want an okay cake, order from here. If you want a cake for a really special occasion, please go somewhere else. Find a place with an actual bakery and professional bakers. You will pay the same amount but get better results and not have to deal with their awful customer service!

Samantha is professional, sweet, charming, and super talented. For my baby shower, Samantha created a beautiful spread of Dulce De leche cake, cake pops and adorably decorated cookies (rattles, onsies, champagne glasses) for my baby shower in late February. All of which fit perfectly in the theme of twinkle twinkle little star mixed with she's about to pop theme. Through out the event guests asked me who made the cookies, cake, and cake pops because they were so good. The decoration was classy, elegant, and festive. In just one bite you can tell her ingredients are top notch. The cake and cake pops were unbelievably moist and had the perfect balance of sweetness. Yes, it's months later and I'm writing this review now. Motherhood has rushed over me like a stormy wave of physical and emotional intensity that has changed my life forever, but those cake pops and cake still float through my mind as a pleasantly sweet memory that I still smile to myself about.
