    i. [Hot Milk Tea] - 9/10 ii. [Iced Milk Tea] - 9/10 iii. [Triangle Coffee Cake] - 8/10 iv. [Triangle Rainbow Sprinkles Cake] - 8/10 v. [Triangle Vanilla Cake] - 8/10 vi. [Triangle Chocolate Cake] - 7/10 vii. [Bag of Cake Crusts/Excess] - 9/10 viii. [Egg Tart] - 7/10 This no-frills bakery has been a neighborhood staple since my elementary school days, and it's easy to see why. The hot milk tea (9/10) is a standout--rich, fragrant, and perfectly steeped, thanks to the HK English Breakfast teabags they use instead of the usual Lipton. For $2.25, the large (16oz) comes with two teabags, while the small (8oz) is just $1.25. The iced milk tea (9/10) is equally reliable, though slightly pricier at $2.50 for 8oz. Pro tip: If you ask for sweetener, they'll use wildflower honey, a nice touch. The triangle cakes (all $1.75) are a fun, affordable treat. The coffee, rainbow sprinkles, and vanilla versions (all 8/10) are moist and lightly sweet. The chocolate cake (7/10) was good but didn't wow me--still, for the price, no complaints. The real hidden gem? The bag of cake crusts/excess (9/10), a budget-friendly way to snack on leftovers without guilt. The egg tart (7/10) was decent--flaky crust, decent custard--but not memorable enough. The shop itself is tiny, with just 2-3 tables usually occupied by longtime regulars--neighborhood elders sipping tea and chatting. Service is quick and no-nonsense, reflecting the bakery's unpretentious charm. Affordable, quick, and reliably open late (I've even swung by past 11:30 PM in the summer to find them still serving), it's the kind of place that feels like a well-kept secret. It's not fancy, but that's the charm. It's a place for cheap, satisfying bites and a dose of community warmth. For a reliable milk tea and a slice of local history, this spot hits the mark.

Definitely underrated. Their prices are still catering to locals with affordability being the focus. While all other bakeries have increased drastically in price, they have kept their prices low. Their bakery items are decent and they have a lot of variety. They even had chinese new year goods for a good price.

Get their egg tarts but skip the pineapple bun. Their egg tart had a much more vibrant yellow hue than at places like Tai Pan, and the custard inside of them was more solid/less watery. I'd skip the pineapple bun since the dough was very glued together/almost felt like it would get stuck to my teeth. Prices are significantly lower than neighboring bakeries and has more locals visiting :)

NOT-closed! Amazing shop, last visited on 2/17/19. One of my biggest regrets is not taking better picture of a hole-in-the-wall bakery that rocked my world and warmed my heart (and belly) with scrumptious eggy sponge cakes and refreshing, albeit fairly firm Japanese cheesecakes. My personal item of choice for all Asian bakeries is the sponge cakes, and I base most of my decision making on the taste, texture, mouthfeel, and hand feel of one of my favorite baked goods of all times. Great Taste Bakery, oddly enough, sharing the same name as my favorite bakery shop in Boston, had some of the best, and cheapest sponge cakes I've had in 2019. They were only $1 and found myself eating the whole cake, wrapper and all as the subtle sweetness of the cake was exponentially raised by the unique sweetness of the egg. The Japanese cheesecake was purchased on a whim, and while it was less fluffy and bouncy than a Facebook or instagram post, I found each bite to lead immediately to the following bite. It was definitely dense, but not overwhelming. Overall, strongly recommend this spot and it's not expensive or closed at all!

The orange has a base made of chocolate Rice Krispies. All of them have more fruity filling than the mousse. They are very fragile. I recommend eating there if you can. Finding can be a challenge because it's busy and there aren't many seats. I got mine to go just to be taken to the park across the street . The mushroom kind are totally ruined. It has strawberriy jelly and it was a mess. The orange one was almost ruined too. The mango has some diced mangoes. I devoured three of them instantly. Definitely come back to try more.

There was no place to sit down because of how busy it was but the staff kept the line moving quick enough. The place still seemed reasonably stocked with their desserts and treats, despite the late afternoon time that I arrived. I ordered 4 different treats to go and they're packed in small box individually. Unfortunately, they didn't quite stay intact during my trek back to my hotel and were tumbled around in the boxes. Nonetheless, the taste and flavors held up well and even after a few days in the fridge. The yuzu daisy has this vivid pastel yellow-pink base and adorable gelatinous yellow gem atop a white flower. The yuzu gives a subtle infusion of tart that is balanced out by the light delicate skin texture of the rest. Sitting atop a thin round rice crispy. I loved the red mushroom one which is a creamy pink mousse inside the cap. The stalk is a thin porcelain-white chocolate light base also filled with a rich cream. Adjacent are two cute little tree nuts. The orange and mango have such vivid colors and are aesthetically pleasing too. Just like the previous ones, their delicate chocolate exterior houses a rich tarty mousse-y filling. I think the mushroom has a better balance and variety of flavors. Although I don't eat mousse treats often, I look forward to trying some of the other ones in the future, like the blueberry, banana and cloud.

This used to be my favorite Italian bakery. I haven't been to this bakery in years like ten years…read moresince I was a teenager. Today I decided to make a special trip to go here to grab a few goodies. I forgot how small the place was and how low the ceilings were. That wasn't an issue though. The place was nice and cakes were stacked neatly. What was surprising to me is that they don't have any cookies laid in the front display. It's all placed in the back almost hidden. I was deeply disappointed with their cookie selection. It was deeply surprising that they don't sell the butter cookies that had jam in the middle and dipped with chocolate on one side with sprinkles. I did ask the clerk and even showed him a pic of what I was looking for and he said they never sold them. They only had the linzer cookies and they didn't look so good. They also did not have the lobster tail. They did have the sfogliatelle which they also called a lobster tail. I thought they were not the same? Some bakeries sell both and they are definitely not the same. I did end up buying one of their sfogliatelle with cream and some rugelachs. The sfogliatelle was good but the rugelachs tasted slightly underbaked. It did taste fresh though unlike many I've had in other bakeries. However, for $28 per pound, I wouldn't get it again. For those not having lobster tail and not having the Italian cookies, I will have to give Veniero's a low rating. I never thought an Italian bakery would not carry staples. Very disappointed. I need to find another Italian bakery now.

I had never heard of the place before, but I was happy to give it a try -- and I'm so glad I did. From the moment you walk in, the experience feels special. The store has two beautiful double doors that create such a grand entrance, and once inside, you immediately feel the energy. The place was bustling with people, and everyone seemed happy and excited -- from the customers to the team behind the counter and the baristas. The cookie case was overflowing with so many amazing choices that it was hard to decide! I ended up getting the Rocky Road cookie, a Double Chocolate Chip cookie, a Two Chip Chocolate Chip cookie, and a blueberry muffin to enjoy for breakfast the next morning. The service was absolutely impeccable, and everyone I interacted with was warm, friendly, and delightful. When I got home, I had half of the Rocky Road cookie with a cup of tea, and it was incredible. The cookie was large and chunky but still perfectly enjoyable -- not heavy or overwhelming. It literally melted in my mouth. The chocolate was rich and smooth, and every bite was just delicious. The next morning, I tried the blueberry muffin, and it was just as impressive. It was light and airy, not overly sweet like many blueberry muffins can be. It truly felt like a breakfast pastry. The blueberries tasted fresh and burst with flavor in every bite. I will definitely be back for more cookies. This was such a wonderful find, and I'm so happy my coworker introduced me to this place!

We walked into a simple and welcoming space where the smell of freshly baked cookies made it clear why it has become such a popular stop. The bakery has a warm, inviting energy, with a steady flow of customers moving through the counter and the open kitchen adding a layer of engagement as we watched the cookies being prepared, making the experience feel more like a classic bakery visit rather than just grabbing a dessert. The main reason to visit is their famous chocolate chip walnut cookie. We ordered one and found it had a crisp exterior with a warm, dense center that gave it the signature Levain texture. The combination of chocolate and walnuts creates a balance between sweetness and richness, although the cookies are definitely on the sweeter and heavier side, and the size makes it feel more like a substantial treat than a light snack. Their other flavors, including dark chocolate and seasonal options, give more variety if you want to try something beyond the original, and we found the dark chocolate version offered a deeper, less sweet profile that appealed to those who prefer a more intense chocolate flavor. The size of the cookies is part of what makes Levain stand out. One cookie is usually enough to share, especially after a meal, but getting one fresh and warm is the best way to experience the texture. The center stays soft and almost underbaked compared to a traditional cookie, which is what makes it different from most bakeries. Service is usually quick and efficient, even when there is a line, and the shop is more designed for takeout since seating is limited, so it works best as a quick stop while exploring the city. The line can move faster than expected because the menu is focused and the process is straightforward, and the staff handle the steady flow with speed and a friendly demeanor. Levain Bakery is worth trying for anyone looking for a classic NYC dessert experience. The cookies are rich, oversized, and memorable, especially if you enjoy soft and chewy cookies. While the sweetness and size may not be for everyone, it remains one of the most iconic cookie stops in the city, offering a dessert that feels indulgent and unmistakably New York.
