I have been here on several occasions now and there is no denying their food is good. The sandwiches are very European a little meat and cheese and perfect bread. The desserts have all been pretty good and the croissants. I guess my major compliant is the service. My husband is allergic to eggs and as it turns out every sandwich they make here is pre-made and has mayo on it. My husband asked if he could get a sandwich without mayo and they said No. They didn't try to make any suggestions just that no they wouldn't make a sandwich and yes they all had mayo. Thank you, Bakery Nouveau, for contributing to the 300 lbs I've gained. While I may need new pants, I'd say it's worth it. Each and every pastry, sandwich, pizza, quiche, espresso beverage, etc has been flawless. Since moving to West Seattle I've become completely obsessed with Bakery Nouveau. Their selection is vast and every visit I have a hard time not ordering one (or two) of everything. While the double baked croissants are life changing, so many other things are equally delicious. Their sandwiches are all perfection. The duck is my personal favorite (although I rarely see it) with the roast pork being a close second. Before ordering the roast pork sammich I was skeptical... it's served with tuna mayo. Yes, tuna mayo. Surprisingly, the tang and subtle fish flavor of the mayo goes perfectly with the pork. Today's breakfast croissant (egg, bacon, cheese, bechamel) and (looks down in shame) lunch croissant I also had were both exceptional. Turkey, avocado, bacon, greens, and other deliciousness... #winning. They have an exceptional selection of desserts as well. The chocolate mousse cheesecake manages to be decadent but not too heavy and the layered cassis cake is to die for. So if you haven't, check out Bakery Nouveau ASAP. The twice-baked Almond Croissant is to die for! if this is your first time, get a croissant and a coffee and just sit in euphoria. but really i think this place has something for everybody and i can't help but try something different every so often. this place does get crowded. i'm never sure when is the best time to go when it's not busy (maybe after work). but the lines go by fast and the people who work there are friendly and know what they are doing. they do have seating inside with small tables and a few tables outside. or you can just grab your stuff and walk around the junction. read more

I don't get the hoopla for this bakery. My soy latte was decent but when you live in Seattle, decent coffee is expected. I ordered a cassis macaron, a French cookie that was pronounced "macaroon" by damn near everyone in the bakery--staff and patrons alike. The macarons, cute as they are, were not fresh. I'm not sure what the shelf-life policy for the cookies are in the bakery, but I didn't fall in love with them. I also hoped that the bakery would carry a pistachio macaron at the very least, but alas. read more

Fyi, you're going to come out fat after having their twice baked almond croissants, it's amazing. Every bite was delicious! Crispy and flaky on the outside and is warm, moist and soft in the middle. They have you order in sections. If you're in line, and don't know what you want, just let them know. It's the sandwich section first, then desserts and then the pastries. le sigh le drool Bakery Nouveau took over the former Boracchinis (former to that, Blakes Bakery) and I resisted for quite some time on going in. I missed Blake's and did not think another could ever take it's place. In the fit of a sugar need, I stopped in. MMMMMMM This is the kind of place that you can gain 40 pounds just by looking at the food. My favorites are the croissant pastries - particularly the lemon blueberry. But I'm also a sucker for the apple danish. My dear wonderful sweet friend purchased a whole chocolate cake for my birthday - i didn't want to share but, afraid of going into a chocolate coma i had to relinquish the ghost. This is one of the best bakeries I have ever frequented. Friendly staff. Plenty of room for standing in line. And the pastries! I have tried the Kringle (sweet and flaky and surprisingly awesome), the twice baked almond croissant (amazing and best for sharing with coffee), the pear tart (not too sweet with a perfect pear), the ham and cheese croissant (I don't do meat but my friends seemed happy with that), and the most beautiful smoked salmon pastry in the shape of a fish. We also got four macarons for my partner's birthday. The blood orange was a slightly tart treat. The Earl Grey was a revelation. So amazing. read more

Exceptional bakery. In fact, I believe they could be the best bakery (in the old fashioned sense) I have ever experienced. I had a banana chocolate muffin and a piece of pizza and both were fantastic. My companion quite enjoyed his apple danish. We wanted to try EVERYTHING they have. Delicious!! Reminded me of Europe. They have hand made sandwiches in the window just like in European cafes. We just randomly wondered into this cafe because the line was almost out the door and seemed like a great place for lunch. I got the steak, blue cheese and arugula sandwich on roasted, fresh bread. I didn't realize how flavorful it would be when I got it. The blue cheese and steak idea just sounded scrumptious at the time. The sandwich had so much flavor! It had some roasted tomatoes, mayonnaise sauce and another savory sauce on top of all the other ingredients, steak, blue cheese and arugula. It was so tasty. It was huge too, as good as it was I couldn't finish the entire thing but yum! The steak was cut nice and thin so we could easily eat it in the sandwich, the roasted tomatoes were full of flavor and the blue cheese was creamy and savory. SO GOOD! Then to top it all off, we got a chocolate croissant for dessert. It was flaky, buttery and full of chocolate. Many croissants have one stick of chocolate in them so you don't get a bite of chocolate every time, which is disappointing. But this one had little chunks everywhere!! I loved it! You must go here! This place is as good as it gets. My wife and I were in Seattle for a long weekend. We had the twice baked chocolate and almond croissants and they were quite simply the best croissants we've ever had (not the classic croissants since it was twice baked). It was flakey and so full of flavor. We live in San Francisco and I have to say it is better than Tartine, Boulanger, and Bouchon Bakery. I would go as far by saying its better than Eric Kayser in Paris. The owner of this place was part of an international baking contest. He was on a team of 3 bakers from the US and they took first place and even beat the French team which traditionally dominates this competition. The first place trophy is sitting right in the bakery. On our second visit....I had a salmon and fennel pizza and my wife had the BLT. Amazing. The BLT came on a great baguette with fresh buffalo mozzarela and nicely grilled bacon. My pizza had a good fresh ingredients, great flavor, & a great good crust. After lunch, I grabbed a almond croissant (not twice baked, but lighter) for my flight and it did not dissappoint. For those visiting Seattle...you must put Bakery Nouveau on to do list otherwise, you will be missing out and quiet possibly one of the best bakeries in the country if not the best. I first went in after passing by a few times and seeing the super long lines. The atmosphere is a bit chaotic but the lines go quickly. They have a ton of goodies to choose from: chocolates, macarons, cakes, pastries. Everything looked amazing so I got a chocolate cake, german chocolate cake and some macarons. Love love love Bakery Nouveau! If you plan on coming here on a weekend, prepare for a little wait to order or get your coffee. Most recently I came here on a Sunday afternoon and there was a line almost out the door. During the summer/when the weather is nicer, wait times can be longer. They do staff the bakery well, though, so the line isn't too slow. Tables are also hard to come by. However, the wait and battling the crowd is totally worth it. I don't think you could go wrong with anything you order from Bakery Nouveau, but I particularly enjoy their pear danish and cream cheese danishes. Super flaky, buttery, sweet pastry dough and fantastic fillings. Their coffee is also great. Prices are a little on the high side (danish and tall latte came to almost $9), but hey, it's a splurge! read more

One word describes this place accurately: INCREDIBLE. This is the hands-down absolute best bakery I've been to in Seattle. Their double-baked almond/chocolate croissants are like little flaky bites of bliss. It may sound like I'm exaggerating, but I'm not. It is really THAT good. I am visiting Seattle for a week. Because my brother lives in West Seattle, I did some research (Thanks, Yelp!) ahead of time to found some cool places near his house that I can try while I am here. My sister-in-law, my mom and I tried their chocolate croissant (fresh out of the oven), pear blueberry tart, spinach feta quiche, and a croque monsieur. We also had their cafe Americano. The croissant was excellent (flaky and buttery) and the chocolate filling was still hot. I like the tart and it went well with the Americano. The quiche and the croque monsieur were ok (the staff toasted both before serving them). I wouldn't say they were amazing. The pastry was definitely very yummy. read more

Last year I was there on packed Saturday standing near the back of the store waiting for my coffee. One of the chefs waved me over to where he had a platter of some kind of hot sandwich. It was super cheesy and smelled amazing. He cuts me a small piece straight from the hot pan, hands it to me, and says, "This stuff is so good I love to share it". It tasted as good as it looks - very well-balanced with cheese and bread and just melted in my mouth. I profusely thank him and then he quickly takes the platter into the back to finish cutting up the sandwiches in smaller pieces. I later realized that the chef was the owner, William Leaman, whose photos and awards are all over the store. Talk about standing behind your product. I am a fan for life. read more

love this place, great for a take out Sunday morning treat for my wife. They tend to sell out of some of the good breakfast sandwiches by 11:00am, and often have a line through the door. Their staff always seems stressed out. I observed one employee with pinkish hair being a little too 'direct' with a first timer (there was confusion with who was helping who). The treatment was bordering on rude - I could tell the guest was a bit embarrassed with the way the employee publicly shamed her. My absolute favorite is the twice baked chocolate croissant...absolute heaven. Of course the twice baked almond croissant comes in close second and provides an nice alternative for those looking for something less sweet. Personally I think anytime of day is the perfect time of day for one of these goodies. But if you prefer to eat croissants only for breakfast you are still in luck. Since I was in the area, I decided to go to Bakery Nouveau with my mother. Originally, we went to get tiramisu (my mother's favorite) only to find out that it is only a summer seasonal. We decided to get my mother's second favorite: Twice Baked Almond Croissant only to find that it was really hard to eat. It was like a rock. We had to switch it to another pastry: Double Baked Almond Chocolate Croissant. It was much softer and crumbly than our first option. It was also overly sweet for my tastebuds. Every time I am in Seattle, I have to come here for their twice-baked almond croissants. My understanding of twice-baked or double-baked croissant is that the middle portion is soaked with a sugar syrup and topped with almond cream then baked again...what that does is it creates a croissant that is moist and sweet on the inside but crispy on the outside. It's the best I've ever had and I haven't found an almond croissant that compared. The line could get very long and there's limited indoor seating so the place gets packed quickly.
