After a year of chaos and the world stopping, my graduation was coming up and I wanted to treat myself to a nice massage. I scheduled the Vichy Shower Aromatherapy Mineral Body Scrub and little did I know what I was in for. My masseuse was Catherine and she was very informative and very attentive. She explained how the massage worked and the benefits of the massage, as well as clear with the instructions for what to feel and expect. I researched a lot and found Balensi's Spa actually here on Yelp and decided to go there for a consultation due to the great reviews. My positive impression already started on the phone. The assistants are super friendly and polite, which is always a plus, of course. I drove to Chula Vista for the consultation and Balensi was very calm and friendly, explaining me which procedure would be fitting for my case. He took his time to speak to me , which I appreciated. Three days later, I booked my session. The spa is absolutely clean and pretty, like a little bungalow heaven, and Balensi worked very professionally and detailed. I've been an on/off customer here for the last 10 years or so, depending on my schedule and budget. I have never had a bad service here, it's all been good. Appointments have gotten even more easy to book because of their online service and/or their app. I usually get a facial, usually Microdermabrasion as part of their happy hour deal. What really takes the cake for me are the products they sell there. I have bought a couple of the brands they sell there (Glytone and Avene) and my skin is honestly better. Pro Tips: - I usually book evening appointments so I can go straight from the service to preparing for my evening and going straight to sleep and letting the remainder lotions and essences seep into my skin. - Late night appointments also help in giving me free street parking since city of CV stop checking meters past 6pm. Not saying that meters are expensive, but it adds up when you're going there all the time. - Another pro is that later appointments usually roll into their Spa Happy Hour specials on certain days from 2-8pm. - Come in a little early to take advantage of the dry sauna. - Tip your estheticians well :) they are doing us a great service. read more

I should have bought a spa gift card for my mom from Sycuan like I have done multiple times instead of the local spa. She was very disappointed and my mom knows what it looks and feels like to be well pampered. First of all, my mom requested a morning appointment and they were adamant about only having afternoon ones. This is after they made her wait about a month to be seen when someone eventually answered her multiple calls. Secondly, she showed up on time to her appointment only to be told she needed to wait outside and did so for about 30 minutes. Lastly, she said the facial felt like the aesthetician was just cleaning her face. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt when I read some of the negative reviews before my purchase. I was looking forward to my facial. I used a Groupon. I made a appt. I didn't like the idea of giving my Credit Card information and their cancellation policy. Esp. during a COVID. I believe I was told there would be a Fee of 25.00 if I should cancel. After reading some YELP reviews, some claim a 100.00 cancellation fee. Hmmm.. Just to let others know, There is no free parking. Bring your Coins or Credit Card. After arriving I was told to stay outside on porch area until my Esthetician calls me. It was a chilly day and I did not bring a jacket. I went in for a happy hour Swedish massage and was told that I could have no pressure or it would be a different massage and I would be charged $85. I called 30 minutes before my appointment to let the staff know that I had experienced an emergency and that I would be running a few min late but that I was on my way. Recently, I got to visit the Ritz Carlton in Tahoe and my husband surprised me with a facial. I've had a couple of Emminence facials here at Belensi and fell in love with the product so that's what I picked at the Ritz. Well, the service was of course 5-star and the facial itself was very nice but nothing like the work of Vanessa and Lorena at Balensi's. I came home and she was horrified by my face thanks to these eyebrows And their PERMANENT! !!!!! NOW I have to go thru Lazer surgery to remove them. This is going to hurt me and my job. Scheduling miscommunication to the max!!! I scheduled my appointment with Michelle on 1/6th for 1/30 at 6:30 pm. I SPECIFICALLY ASKED, "6:30 pm? Are you sure, I thought Jean didn't schedule appointments that late." She stated, Jean will be working later now, starting on Jan 30th, so that time is still available." Happy that I wouldn't have to request any time off of work, I booked that time. A couple of days prior to my appointment, I received a text confirming an 11:30 am appointment. Annoyed, I called and spoke w/ Michelle again. I reminded her that my appointment was for 6:30pm, not 11:30 am. She replied that Jean is already booked for the day and that the latest she can schedule me another day would be around 3 or 3:30pm since I have about 2 hours of service requested. What the Hell? So now I have to reschedule? Did I just make up this conversation in my head? WTF! I asked if Michelle could please speak with Jean to see if he could stay a little later and that I would arrive earlier but that didn't work either. I then asked if I could speak to him myself, it was around 11:30 am. Michelle stated that he was not in the office. I called back 30 minutes later (12pm) and asked to speak to him again, she said HE JUST LEFT and that he wouldn't be back until 4pm. Now keep in mind, his hours are 11am-5:30 pm, Tues-Sat, what a bunch of crap!!! When Jean returned my call he didn't seem to care about my frustration. He wouldn't stay a minute longer to fix the problem, he never offered a discount for the inconvenience and he couldn't care less that his employee lied TWICE to me. Anyways, I will not be going back EVER!!!! If they would have at least apologized or made a little bit of an effort to help accommodate I would have been fine but, that was obviously not the case. read more

I bought a Groupon for a microdermabrasion as I have been trying for years to find a new esthetician that I like. Previously, I was going to Eastlake Rejuvination Center (which I also found through Groupon), but my esthetician there had retired. I wasn't expecting much from Balensi Spa... but as soon as I arrived at Balensi, I was pleasantly surprised! This spa is truly a tiny hidden gem in Chula Vista's 3rd Avenue District. Once I approached the entrance, I was greeted by one of their staff members and offered a mimosa or a tea. I made my selection and was asked to wait on one of the seats in the courtyard while my mimosa was being prepared and while waiting for the esthetician, Veronica. Their quaint courtyard feels like a tropical getaway which I would say is comparable to the landscaping of Glen Ivy, but without having to make over an hour away drive from South Bay San Diego. I was met by Veronica, walked over to the room, and had such a pleasant experience that I ended up deciding to sign up for their Monthly Wellness Membership. Veronica was great at explaining everything that she was doing and why each step would benefit the skin on my face. I look forward to to coming back every month for some much deserved self care. I booked a facial for my sister and I a few days ago. My sis loved her facial and was very pleased with her lady. My appt. was after hers, and I was told the owner would be giving my facial. I thought great ! Maybe she'll be extra good! Much to my surprise NOT! She rushed me through the facial was not informative and not gentle at all. I almost felt because she knew I purchased a groupon facial, she gave me less attention and cut my facial short to 45 min. Didn't feel comfortable with her at all! Worst facial ever! And she's the owner?! She also was complaining out loud to the receptionist about a customer parking in the back taking her parking. Never have your facial done by owner..
