Too soon to call, I think...I like the casual ambiance with a bit of glossy yuppie country store vibe. I guess I feel good that the fried food I was ingesting doesn't have any hormones or chemicals. I was starving, which probably was not great in terms of my menu choices. I ordered chicken fingers with 2 sides, aged cheese & mac and garlic broccolini. What I got was regular broccoli, mediocre and bland mac with regular tasting cheese....wish they didn't try to be so fancy in their descriptions to justify the slightly higher prices. So yeah, $10+ for chicken fingers may be a bit much, but some other options may be better options. Oh, and my friend who ordered a chicken Banh mi sandwich said, and I quote, they have no business calling the sandwich a Banh mi b/c it is a chicken salad sandwich. I did like the the dessert options...I got a delicious chocolate pecan cookie. I hate the parking lot at Ansley Mall...it would take a lot to get me back here to this plaza. read more

I really hate to write negative reviews but this place was so thoroughly underwhelming and disappointing that I feel it needs to be said. I'd been wanting to try Bantam + Biddy for months now. They're convenient to my house, I love the sustainable food idea, rotisserie chicken is a favorite, those sides sounded mouthwatering... suffice it to say that I really wanted to love this place for a variety of reasons. We ordered takeout dinner for three. Rotisserie chicken, the chicken pot pie, mac and cheese, truffle fries, banoffee pie. This seemed like a good way to get a sampling of the place's best offerings. Unfortunately, it just didn't taste good. The rotisserie chicken was dry and stringy, barely saved by beer-mustard sauce. I couldn't believe that they called our entree chicken pot pie, as it resembles nothing of the sort (unless your chicken pot pie looks like a bowl of chicken soup). The macaroni and cheese was dry and flavorless, as was the biscuit. I kind of liked the truffle fries and the banoffee pie, but not enough to return for them. Furthermore, when I announced how much the meal cost afterwards, everyone gasped. "That much? For this? That's crazy!" Next time I'll get rotisserie chicken from Publix next door. In order to get their breakfast options, all orders must be placed by 11:30am. I had arranged to meet up with a friend by 11:15am and of course I was running late so I hauled ass down Piedmont Road and made it just in time to get breakfast. And I'm so glad I did! We had the Southern breakfast and Chicken and Waffles with a side of good, strong coffee. The Southern breakfast was pretty awesome. They cooked our sunny side up eggs just right so that the edges were super crispy, but the yolks were a runny, gooey mess. The grits were creamy and cheesy, the bacon was thick and full of flavor, and the jalepeno corn bread was the perfect amount of savory and sweet. All this with a modest scoop of pimento cheese made it almost perfect. The chicken and waffle comes with applesauce. I can't say this dish blew me away, but it was perfectly acceptable and I enjoyed it nonetheless. I love that the space is bright with tons of natural light from the windows. Parking was easy at 11:20am but was definitely crowded when we left at 12:30pm due to the lunch crowd and the many other business in the busy shopping center. read more

This place isn't nearly as bad as some of the other reviewers may lead you to believe. Every new restaurant requires a few weeks to work out the initial kinks - and Bantam + Biddy is no exception. In the grand scheme of things, the concept of this place is inherently novel and the food is reasonably well-executed. The price point is slightly higher than a run-of-the-mill fast food chicken joint - however, unless you're accustomed to chicken in a bucket and big gulps, then the cost shouldn't really be all that surprising considering the location, name, and ownership. Food: Bantam + Biddy is a fast-casual chicken concept brought to you by the same minds that created Yeah! Burger. The restaurant is an organic, locally sourced chicken emporium of sorts, with the featured item being the rotisserie chicken, which can be ordered in either quarter or half portions. The menu also includes an assortment of different non-chicken entrees, as well as salads, sandwiches, and approximately a dozen different sides. During my visit, I opted for the southern fried chicken sandwich with two sides - aged cheddar mac & cheese and fried green tomatoes with goat cheese (seasonal). Overall, I was pleased with the quality of the food. The mac & cheese is certainly not the best I've had, but it was hardly the dry, crusty, Mary Mac's-esque concoction that others have purported - it's possible that they've changed the recipe, but the version I had was creamy and not egg-based. Service: Pleasant, but seemingly overwhelmed. The staff were definitely trying their best to handle the customer volume, but everyone from the register clerk to the manager was still slightly behind the eight ball. The restaurant does not offer full table service - all orders are placed at the front counter and the food is brought out to you once it's ready. Patrons are not responsible for clearing their own tables. Atmosphere: The restaurant consists of a main dining room, bar area, and a patio that can accommodate approximately 30 patrons. The Johnson Studio has nicely transformed this space from its previous incarnation - the serviceware is all inscribed with the restaurant's name and even the buttons on the booths have engraved chickens on them. However, I was surprised to see that they chose to place angled mirrors along the walls, which many would consider to be an amateur faux pas. There's a reason you don't see this elsewhere - the last thing a restaurant patron wants to see in a mirror is a reflection of themselves engorging on a pile of food. Cost: Moderately priced. Entrees are $10-$14, all of which are served with two sides. Salads are $8-$12 and sandwiches are $10. Additional sides are $3.25. Other: Bantam + Biddy presently serves lunch and dinner only, but breakfast service is slated to begin in early December. They do not currently have an alcohol license, but an application has been filed. The menu clearly notes the multiple items that are gluten-free. We just enjoyed a exceptional lunch and Haley provided fabulous advise and attentive service! The Deviled Eggs were unique, flavorful and delicious with 4 per plate. The organic spinach salad was a great size and the dressing just rocked! My 1/4 Chicken with the WAK... Sauce was just amazing. I really enjoyed the Brussel Sprouts and Cheddar Mac and Cheese -just the right size plus a perfect comfort food. Remember that I enjoy quality over quantity and this was just perfect. To me I felt like you needed to have a special invitation to be in the know about that spot before you could go in. Im not really sure what that even means. But its how I felt. The food... its good. My girlfriend LOVES the beats and goat cheese. I like the wasabi honey sauce that comes with the Chicken tenders. The tenders are good, tender, lightly breded, fresh. The sides are mostly good. I think its a bit pricy for what it is. Its gourmet-ified southern food. I guess because of the location they can charge a couple dollars more for chicken fingers and fries. Oh yeah... the fries aren't good. They are greasy and soggy. Get other sides. The ranch is good though! Service has been good most of the time. Only had 1 bad experience where we were sat in a dead zone. One server thought the other had us and really no one did. Finally we asked what was going on and then had good service. read more

We paid a lot of money to be ignored. It was only 3 of us for lunch/brunch. When we got there, we were told they drink menu was on the chalk board. We placed our orders, had to pay upfront, and were given a number to put on our table so that they'd know where to bring our food. We WERE NOT told that we had to get our own drinks. We waiting until about 1/4 of the way through our meal before I went and asked about our drinks. We got soda in a can, we're not offered ice or straws, and I had to get them myself. No one checked on us the entire time we were eating and I had to keep getting up to ask for things...water, silverware, napkins, etc. This was my first and last time going there. I had heard good things but this is an absolute NO for me. For $49, I could have gotten better food and better service someplace else (and I wouldn't have been asked to pay up front). read more

Shared a few things with some other people: We got the veggie plate with mac & cheese, spinach & quinoa salad, red peas & rice, and brussels sprouts - each side was delicious! The southern breakfast was amazing! The poutine was a very good, but very filling (and fatty), I wouldn't attempt to eat this alone, but as a dish split among a few people, it was just right - plenty of gravy & cheese curds for everyone to sop up with those delicious duck fat fries! I saved the best for last, though: The chopped chicken liver on toast! It was pretty much a chicken salad made with chicken liver, so expect that, but also know that it's 10x's better than you would imagine that would taste. It was not overwhelmingly liver-y so don't be afraid to try it! Also, I'm not sure if they have changed the portion sizes since they opened, but I read several complaints about small portions in reviews that did not seem to match at all with my experience. I can't say enough good things about this place! It is such a great addition to Ansley Mall, and a nice change of pace from the run of the mill Panera, Moe's etc. I work right down the street, so it is so wonderful to be able to go somewhere close that has fresh and yummy options. The restaurant itself is quaint and cute, and everyone that I have encountered there is over the top friendly, helpful, and personable. My favorite is the spinach salad with sunflower seeds, quinoa, apples, goat cheese, and sunflower sprouts. The carrot ginger dressing is amazing! read more

Really delicious! My brother and sister were in town for Christmas and while we were out gift-shopping, they wanted to go somewhere they hadn't been before. My brother also doesn't eat gluten. So, we went to Bantam & Biddy. The meatloaf (GF) was to die for (however I recognize I haven't had meatloaf in about 15 years because of being gluten free, so that could be part of why it tasted so good! :) The cornbread that came with it was also gluten free! We were in heaven! It was so nice to be able to eat a real meal that is normally full of gluten and for it to be so delicious. My brother had the chicken tenders (GF) with the duck fat fries and loved both of those. My sister doesn't eat GF but loved her meal (she got some sort of breakfast meal even though it was lunch time). I am already planning my next visit. So good. So to sum it up, if you're gluten-free or even if you're not GF, this is a delicious southern food place that I would recommend trying. read more

Walked out due to extremely poor service. We arrived for lunch and no one greeted us for at least five minutes. Servers waked by us with no eye contact or recognition. We finally flagged a server down and he then found the host who sat us. Then we waited at least five to ten minutes without a server; so we walked off. We live in the neighborhood and have visited before. The food is pretty good. We will certainly tell all our friends about this place. We waited for an hour to get our orange juice and food. Two tables sat next to us 30 min after us and finished their meals before we got our food. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep going back every other day because I lived on the other side of town. I then ended up moving to Buckhead and I just had to take my family there. They absolutely loved it! The greens are to die for and those chicken tenders...MMMMMMM! The drinks were pretty good too. Now, the food took a little longer to come out and the waiter was a bit inexperienced. However, those were not deal breakers for me. Yesterday, was my first time dinning here and I don't think that I will be returning. I ordered the 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken with sweet potato fries and Napa slaw and I was underwhelmed. Firstly, the chicken was tough and not moist and succulent in any way. When one thinks of rotisserie chicken, one thinks of the slow cooking process that brings forth a juicy succulent bird. Not to exaggerate, but I thought that I was eating a rooster due to its toughness. However, I will admit the bird was seasoned well and the side of barbecues sauce was "Banging". Secondly, the sides were just ok. The sweet potato fries were bland and could have use more of aromatic soulful house seasoning other than just kosher salt to kick them up a notch. In addition, the napa cabbage slaw was just as bland and could've used more moisture. Was the slaw supposed to be creamy??? If so, then it FAILED. Although I appreciate the effort of thinking outside the box when it comes to using napa cabbage for coleslaw, nothing beats white and red cabbage for perfect coleslaw. Notwithstanding the fact that my food wasn't as good as I expected, the restaurant's ambiance was nice. Three of us went for breakfast on Saturday around noon. My friends got the fried chicken and waffles and I ordered pancakes. I tasted the chicken and waffles and they were fantastic but my $8.50 buttermilk pancakes looked like they came off the children's menu. I am a grown man and the 4 pancakes were about 3-4 inches in diameter. Thank goodness my friends shared with me. The service was sketchy. I have been there before and there were a lot of new faces. We were at a table in "no mans land". The waiters couldn't seem to decide who was waiting on us. Other customers were getting waited on and fed that had come in after us. My wife stumbled upon this place while researching food options for a road trip from Atlanta to Tennessee and it was definitely worth the stop. The service was a little slow for the amount of people in the restaurant at the time, but we were on vacation so it didn't bother us. My wife had the Fried Chicken & Cheddar Waffles and I had the Big Chicken Skillet. Both were absolutely AMAZING! The chicken on both dishes was seasoned and fried perfectly and had great flavor. There was also a dessert counter at the entrance that had some really delicious looking goodies, but we were so full from our meals that we didn't get a chance to try any of them. I ordered the chicken tenders with sautéed garlic & spinach (which were very good) along with spicy collard greens (mediocre) and the "crispy" chicken tenders were soaking in the juice of the greens. I asked if my "crispy" chicken tenders could be remade and the owner comes out and says "that's not something that we usually do" (OFF TO A BAD START). Stopped him right there and had him charge me for the spinach only. Will NOT be returning here after this bad first experience. They also put my friend's cold watermelon salad on a hot plate! I like the yelp description for 2 stars. "Meh. I've experienced better." I've been here a couple of times now. My short summary is ok food, way over priced, staff needs more training, chef's palate and mine are dissimilar, did I mention overpriced? I've had the poutine twice, once without chicken, once with. The fries are good, the gravy tasty, but a bit skimpy on curds compared to my other experiences with this dish. Don't bother adding chicken to make it a meal, $4 is pretty steep for the amount of chicken I got. Maybe a third of a normal sized chicken breast cut into pieces. Sides, small portions for $3.50. First a comment about taste. I know it is subjective, and I know something I may love is awful to someone else. That being said, the spicing/flavoring of the sides is just off. Too much of something, too little of something, etc. All of the sides and sauces here have left me feeling this way. The Mac and cheese was nothing exciting or special, the collard greens were way undercooked, stringy because of that, and just had that these need something different taste. The fried green tomatoes were weird tasting. I'm not sure what spice was added, but leave it out next time. Did I mention small portions? 3.50 for two small fried green tomato slices. For that price they should have been little slices of southern heaven. Not so much. Same type of issue with the beets. Odd flavored and I hope you LOVE shallots, because the goat cheese is full of them. The staff seems unorganized and lost. Food descriptions on the menu are not thorough and the staff seems unable to fully explain dishes or specials. My most recent visit almost didn't happen because I had a difficult time being sat. I walked in, went to the host stand spot and no fewer than 5 employees saw me and ignored me. One pushed past me with a promise to be right back but never returned and the guy at the cash register stared right at me but didn't make an attempt to greet me. He didn't have any customers. The guy who took pity on me and sat me and my server were both nice. Dessert was good, but I think they are not made in house. Also, $4 was high for the single sized portions. All in all, I wouldn't recommend going here, I wouldn't suggest going here, but I wouldn't refuse to go if a friend suggested it. read more

Let me start by saying we LOVE B&B. We have ordered take out at least weekly since they re-opened after the lockdown. I'm writing my complaint hoping that someone will see this and do better. The last time we got home some of our order was missing. This time we tried to make sure to check before leaving. We ordered food for 5 and it was al in one bag so I suspected something was missing. I tried to check everything in the bag before I left but kind of hard to do standing outside on the sidewalk. I asked again if they were sure the entire order was here. Confirmed and believed so drove the 25 mins home only to discover one dinner order was missing. Drove all the way back only to be told "We put it in there" so basically accused me of lying to get free food. This after I left a $20 tip the first trip over! They did begrudgingly give me the order but totally unacceptable service in every way. Wish I didn't love the food so much. I know this is a chicken place but the vegetarian that I am, decided to try it anyways. I knew they had veggie sides that I could eat. FOOD: Luckily they had a special of fried catfish po boy sandwich with duck fat fries. The fish was undercooked but the fresh tomatoes and lettuce with tasty bread was good. The fries were tasty good! I also got the brussel sprouts as another side dish and it was really buttery. For dessert, I got the chocolate silk pie which was creamy chocolatey good. I got the gulf shrimp with mac & cheese and French fries. My boyfriend got chicken tenders with Mac and cheese and mashed potato. Both our meals also came with jalapeño corn bread. The staff including our waiter was very kind. My shrimp was perfectly crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The Mac & cheese was good and you can't go wrong with fries. I didn't expect to really like the corn bread. My boyfriend loved his chicken tenders a lot, was great quality. The service was very fast, but I did feel like there was not the southern hospitality that I was expecting. The actual overall appearance of the store is okay, it's definitely cute, but I was frustrated that I could see dirty and unorganized parts of the kitchen. They also had fans running that were very loud, and I can't decide if I like them or not. The food was really good, I got the pancakes and my mom got the French toast. I really liked the pancakes, I actually got the gluten free pancakes and they definitely lived up to my expectations! My mom also loved her French toast, although we were both disappointed that we didn't get sides with our meal. Mine cost 12 dollars for 4 small-ish pancakes, so I was kinda frustrated that we didn't get a side or two with it. Upon arriving it's a smaller restaurant but they also have a patio which is nice. Our waiter was very nice and when he was at our table he did his best to provide great customer service. Unfortunately, he just didn't come around a lot. There weren't many waiters that would come out to the patio from what we observed and drinks don't last the entire meal. Anyway, the food was really good. The chilequiles that they have for an appetizer is delicious and if you're looking for a good starter, I would definitely recommend that.
