I went with my family for a birthday dinner during happy hour and it was great! We went around 4:15pm on a Friday and made a reservation ahead of time, so there was a table ready for us when we arrived. It wasn't too busy and was not too loud inside. We ordered off of the happy hour menu which is a great deal, and everything tasted amazing. Everyone loved the croquettes and the three pastas we got. The pappardelle pasta had hint of mint in every bite which was very unique and added a nice fresh taste to the dish. It was a lot of food for five people and we even had leftovers. I'd definitely recommend for some classic Italian food and would come back to try more.

Came in for the late-night happy hour on a Saturday (starts at 9 PM) and was seated quickly. We Tried the rigatoni, pappardelle, and cacio e pepe. All were perfectly al dente and generous portion size. The standout for me was definitely the pappardelle. Visiting from San Diego, and I have to say, this pasta outshines most Italian spots back home. Will 100% be back next time I'm in Seattle.

We had a great experience at Tavolàta! We the cocktails were great and the food was too. The focaccia was pretty good. We ordered the bucatini and the rigatoni. I rate the rigatoni 10/10 and the bucatini 5/10. The staff was great and the vibe was good too. We enjoyed sitting at the bar.

After a long day at the convention, we stop by this place to grab dinner with our group of 8! I don't think they're able to see larger groups than eight so that's also something to make a note of. When we arrived, we had to wait a while for a table to become available maybe about 20 to 30 minutes. When we entered, there's some restrooms to the left and the lighting inside is pretty dim. We all took a minute to look at the menu and then meet our orders. I personally got the spaghetti and meatballs the one with a lot of cheese on top. My friends got the truffle gnocchi and one of the carbonara pastas. Overall took maybe about 20 minutes to 30 minutes for all the food to come out. Some of our friends got drinks and those came out first of course. Overall, the food tasted pretty good. The pasta was a good texture.

Everything was so delicious! Not pictured is us devouring the chicken meatballs. We agreed that was the best thing we ate. We also had tiramisu and cannoli for dessert. The cannoli comes with two, which I didn't know. I wasn't very happy with the cannoli as the ricotta filling was very citrus forward, and I'm not into that. Service was great and it wasn't too crowded for 530pm on a Sunday.

a FANTASTIC italian meal at tavolata! It was a pretty upscale place and great prices. We came during restaurant week and shared a bottle of wine, but on weekdays there are also really good pasta wine deals I highly recommend taking advantage of. The pastas here were comparatively delightful to the ones I tried in Italy, which I loved, so that says a lot! Pictured above are the Rigatoni and Bucatini. I was impressed by the amount of protein in each of the pasta that we didn't even have to add extra. Both pastas were perfectly al dente as well and the flavors were well balanced. The server was also so nice and relatable, and made our meal feel so homey and welcome. Overall I'd change nothing about the experience, a well deserved 5/5!

I found Tavolata to be just mediocre for the money. I sat at the bar tonight and ordered the focaccia from their happy hour menu ($8 down from $9 regular price-- such savings!) and the butternut squash ravioli. I asked for no balsamic with either of these items, but the bread still came with olive oil and balsamic mixed together in the same dish, a big pet peeve of mine. Additionally, the bread was warm on the edges but cold/ room temp in the middle. The butternut squash ravioli was good but I expected a larger portion for $30. And honestly, if I'm paying $30 for pasta with no protein, it had better be life changing. The final nail came from the 22% service charge added to the bill. The service was fine, but I think tacking on any more than 20% automatically to all bills is offensive. With the service charge, I paid $50 for bread and pasta, no drink. The quality just wasn't there for 50 bucks!

GOOD! The interior was very nice and perfect for a date night or get together meal! The pasta portions were decently big for some dishes. I was able to share the papadelle and was just enough to fill us. The sauce was good and you can tell that the pasta is hand made. The pasta was bit on the medium rare side with it being slightly undercooked. The price is a bit pricey, but the portion made up for it. Would recommend if you're in the area! But there are other places around.

My sister absolutely loves tavolata so I assume I would too. I came here with my friend after visiting another restaurant near by. We snacked at the other place so decided to get dinner here. The appetizer we ordered were great. We got burrata and focaccia. I really loved the burrata. So simple but so refreshing at the same time. The focaccia came with the honey butter that was so tasty! I ended up ordering the gnocchi and my friend got the pappardelle. We both didn't enjoy it and that's a shame because I usually love gnocchi. This didn't have the chew and bounce that I'm use too. It's serve in large round biscuit shape and very soft. Maybe it's the texture for me but I didn't like it and the sauce was a bit tart for my taste. I tried some of my friend's pappardelle and the sauce was a bit more mild but it was missing something. Maybe we had an off night since she said she normally really like it. The place was kind of dead for a Saturday night and the server was nice but sort of awkward haha. I'll have to try this again another time I suppose.

A great Italian restaurant in the heart of Capitol Hill. Great ambiance and I love its huge windows that bring in tons of natural light. I love all the wood tones and it has such a great home vibe. It is a great place for large parties or a friend's night out. They have a great happy hour deal and a great place to grab a drink and a bite to eat before the rest of your night. I got a glass of the rose which had wonderful clean flavors. For food, we ordered the Caesar Salad, Papparadelle, and Cacio e Pepe. My favorite was the Caesar Salad, light, flavorful, and not overly dressed. Both the Papparadelle and Cacio e Pepe were delicious but slightly on the heavier side. The pasta portions were quite large and made great leftovers. Everyone was so friendly and always checked in our us during our stay. Overall, a great place to grab some Italian cuisine.

This place was very mid for the price. Good location though. Food was just alright, the pasta was nothing special in my opinion. I added chicken to it because I wanted extra protein but the chicken was very dry and not much flavor. The portion size was decent. Service was okay, he was pretty nice in the beginning and attentive. But when we asked him to split the bill at the end, he seemed a little annoyed and sassy. Also, 22 percent of gratuity is added regardless of how many people are there. That part I didn't like very much, seems a little too much. Ambiance was nice, overall pretty clean. Cozy aesthetic. Overall, I wouldn't say I won't be back, but it would not be my first option.

For such a popular Italian restaurant in Capitol Hill, we appreciated the option to make a reservation ahead of time. Our group of six got a widespread of appetizers and I especially liked the roasted beets and bruschetta. We also ordered every single pasta from their happy hour menu except anchovies spaghetti. The food had such generous portions during happy hour and was incredibly filling. What was interesting was that different pastas had drastically different salt levels. For someone who loves their noodles al dente, the pasta really hit the spot. We came celebrating two friends' birthdays and appreciated how the staff brought out beignets and ice cream for us to enjoy.

    Erin G.

Come for the happy hour!! All the pastas are full sized and the are AMAZING! Highly recommend the beets as an appetizer and the Papardelle as the main. I got the Pesto Mushroom pasta off the main menu and it was light and delicious. It's fancier but you can still come in casual clothes, such a great deal and the service is amazing.

Even though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy during our visit, our server was extremely quiet and difficult to hear, which made communication a bit challenging. One nice touch was the complimentary bread service, which came with a generous amount of butter. We started with the artichokes from the seasonal menu. I was expecting them to be served warm or roasted, but they arrived cold, which was admittedly a misunderstanding on my part. The accompanying sauce was excellent though and definitely saved the dish for me. We also ordered the tajarin al ragù, one of the restaurant's signature dishes. Unfortunately, this was where my expectations and experience diverged. The pasta felt under-seasoned to me, and the noodles seemed overcooked. Rather than the silky texture I was hoping for, I found myself eating what felt like clumps of dough. It was a dish I really wanted to love given its reputation, but it just didn't click for me. We weren't looking for a heavy dinner, so we only ordered a couple of items. It's entirely possible we came on an off night or simply didn't choose the restaurant's strongest dishes. I'd be open to giving Cascina Spinasse another try in the future, but this visit left me feeling a bit underwhelmed compared to the hype.

You walk in and order at a self-service kiosk, and there are plenty of options to customize your pasta. After ordering, you seat yourself and they call your name when the food is ready. We had no problem finding a table for two. There seemed to be a lot of takeout orders coming through. Both pastas tasted fresh and were cooked al dente, just as advertised. The carbonara was creamy and flavorful. The short rib itself was good, but the pasta and sauce were a bit separated, so the pasta didn't absorb as much flavor as I expected. The cannoli was very filling and had a hint or orange in it. Overall, it's a good spot if you're looking for quick, customizable pasta. Just keep in mind that it's more of a fast-casual place rather than a full sit-down service restaurant.

The waiter told us something about how they're "fancy pizza but not stuck up" (not a direct quote), which fits right in with Seattle gastronomic philosophy. It's worth trying to get here early in the night, because it can be difficult to get a seat. And you want to have some time to sit down and enjoy this pizza. Make sure you wear your best sitting pants though, because you're in for a meal that will make you progressively adjust the belt loops as time goes on. I'm sure that there are plenty of top notch pizzas across the menu here, but the Caesar salad may have been a best-in-class item. The dressing was perfectly balanced with just enough anchovy taste, and there was exactly enough of it on every bite. Instead of having croutons in the salad, they had a heaping portion of toasted breadcrumbs that made each bite so much more interesting. Caesar himself would be proud. All of the pizzas sounded great, but I was pretty sure that they would be able to execute on a cacio e pepe flawlessly here, and I wasn't disappointed. The initial bite was everything that I could have hoped for. But I would make sure that you demolish this pizza promptly - it's not one that's great as leftovers. I think that is the case for most pizza of this style anyways. I am ridiculously excited about coming back to Lupo in the future to try more pizzas. She goes to check, disappears, and then comes back with something that honestly felt DISTESPECTFUL. The steak looked like scraps. Uneven, mismatched chunks, all different sizes, with burnt, crispy edges and covered in sauce like they were trying to hide it. It didn't look like a single cut of meat it looked like pieces from multiple steaks thrown together. The plating was sloppy, and the side looked like an afterthought. I didn't take a bite. I looked through it and said, "This looks like pieces from different steaks." She told me she watched them cut it... then immediately followed that by saying she saw them put it under a heat lamp to reheat. So which is it? I work in the food industry. I'm not going to be gaslit over a plate like that. She offered to refire it, but at that point it was almost 11 and they were closing. I paid for my drink and left. Honestly, I wouldn't have been upset if they had just told me the kitchen was closing when I called. But don't invite me in, forget my order, and then serve something like this and try to pass it off like it's normal. Just be honest.

Delicious! Everything we had was special, a new unique flavor but still familiar. All the flavors…read moreblended together and melded incredibly well. My son and I came here and are definitely looking to return soon! I'm just sad I was too full for their desserts...I think it was bread flavored ice cream or something and supposedly it's a trip. The place is small, cozy, upscale-rustic. The server was friendly, explained the dishes, and had recommendations when we asked. He told us the story about the desserts and aaaaaalmost won us over.

Came here for my boyfriend's birthday recently and we tried the tasting menu ($89/person + 22%…read moreautomatic gratuity). FOOD: For the price, I think this tasting menu is a good deal. We got 4 appetizers, a pasta, an entree, and dessert. My fav items were the shrimp in polenta (shrimp was crispy without seemingly any breading, perfectly cooked and flavored) and the lamb skewers (well seasoned and cooked. Big fan of lamb in general). I also liked the deviled egg on kimchi, though it didn't taste like kimchi very much. The salad had too much dressing unfortunately and the crostini was interesting. We got a few drinks but my main impression is that they are strong! SERVICE Service here was so great and friendly. I only saw 2 front of house and 1 back of house so it's a small place. The front of house also bartend and make the drinks. I do wish the front of house explained the dishes a little more when they brought out the food. They told us the name of the dishes but as I was eating I realized it would've been nice to get a better idea of what was in it exactly, or halfway through I'd think "wait what else is in this?" AMBIANCE Tastefully decorated, small, and intimate. It was not busy when we came at all, with only up to 4 other tables having diners. I think this allowed the staff to focus on each table a little better without being overwhelmed. Overall had a good time. I admittedly wasn't blown out of the water but for $89/person for a fancier meal, I would say this is priced right for what you get (food, service, and ambiance included).
