The downstairs looks like your average bar, but the rooftop at night! Wow! You get super warm fire pits to sit around and hang out. We brought along our own donuts to enjoy, and didn't get any trouble for it. We loved the gorgeous bay bridge views up here!

I always come here before games - super sweet bartenders not super busy like Momos can get a drink right away. They make their own cocktail cherries and they may be soaked in bourbon or something but they are so good!

After doing happy hour nearby, my group of four decided to check out Bar Via. We stopped by on Friday, May 11th around 8pm. The bar was pretty much empty, so we just grabbed a table along the wall. *Black Manhattan: bulleit rye whiskey, averna, angostura and orange bitters ($12) *Blood and Sand: chivas regal scotch, cherry heering, sweet vermouth and orange juice ($12) *Old Fashioned *Bartender's Special We stayed for one round of drinks. Thanks to a friend, I had two drink tickets from a while ago, so we actually only paid for one drink. It was also my girlfriend's birthday, so they comped her drink. I ordered the manhattan. I'm glad it came with rye as I prefer that over bourbon. I find bourbon too sweet at times. The cocktail was nicely balanced. Our server was awesome! Very friendly and attentive. My gf wasn't sure what she wanted. She just knew she wanted something similar to an old fashioned, so he talked to the bartender and made her a special drink. He really went out of his way to make it a fun night as he knew it was her birthday. Nice, kind of modern bar with TVs. (Gotta get my sports on when my favorite teams are playing.) Good cocktails and excellent service!

Had a friend staying in town and we met up here and went to the rooftop for drinks and had a great time !! David was attentive, fun and had good suggestions. The rooftop was open on a warm Autumn night. Had a nice view of the Embarcadero and the baseball stadium across the street. Had a few light bites and enjoyed the pulled pork sliders and the flat bread. Great service, chill atmosphere. Came back and enjoyed the main bar which is downstairs. Changed it up with beers- another great experience with David at Bar VIA. The rooms are also nice- bed so cozy she was late to the meeting!

Watched the super bowl where with my girlfriend and the views of the city were incredible and they had a well organized event with plenty of staff, lots of TVs and enough staff.

Ambiance is really beautiful and cocktails specials were so good and strong. Honestly the food was pretty awful, the only ok item is the margarita pizza. I ordered the shrimp tacos and it was very dry, un cooked kale and 3 drops of sauce. Also they were street taco size for $20 (3 tacos) with overall was a disappointment food wise , but it definitely is beautiful patio area.

    Pretzel bites!

We've been to Bar Via's a couple of times now, once before a Giant's game and once toward the end of the night. The service here is typically really amazing. I am especially a big fan of the bartenders who are very attentive and respond quickly to requests. The most recent night we were there we had the steak tacos, the tater tots, the pretzel bites, the pepperoni flatbread, and a round or two of drinks. All of the food was DELICIOUS. I was a huge fan of it. That said, there was a minor problem in getting us our food (a mix up between the bartenders and the servers) but it was rectified and didn't change how tasty the food was. Ultimately, this spot has super tasty food for a decent price given its prime location and good service.

A great spot to grab some drinks before or after the ball game or after work. The rooftop is one of the best ones in the city!

Luckily, my friend had already been to Iron Horse Cocktails, and suggested we go there instead. Walking down the alleyway it is located in was a nice getaway from the otherwise hectic union square atmosphere. Walking in was also a neat experience that felt like we were stepping out of the city into a tiny pub. We also really liked the atmosphere inside and the cozy upper floor that had an interesting mix of old paintings and woodwork, creating an eclectic feel. I got the We've Got the Beet cocktail with mezcal, beet reduction, ginger, fresh citrus, thyme and firewater bitters. I love mezcal's smoky flavors and was drawn to the combination of ginger, citrus and mezcal flavors in the drink. The cocktail was very good and had a nice smokiness from the mezcal, along with the kick from the ginger and zest from the citrus, creating a refreshing and tasty drink. My friend got the About Thyme, with gin, blackberry liquor, black pepper thyme syrup and fresh citrus. We both really liked his drink as well, which had an interesting kick from the black pepper thyme syrup that offset the gin and blackberry liquor nicely. While we only had time to grab a drink each, we were both very happy with the drinks and would definitely come back the next time we're in the area.

There's zero hint from the outside about what's waiting behind that door and that's part of the magic. Inside? Total vibe. Moody, trendy decor, shelves of great vinyl, solid drinks. It feels like the kind of spot you accidentally stay at way longer than you planned. Greg, our bartender, was fantastic. Friendly without being over the top, and he even gave us bar recommendations all over SF, which was a nice bonus. We ordered the Mi Sharona and the El Mariachi. The Mi Sharona leaned a little sweeter than I usually go for but it was still really good. The El Mariachi, though, was the winner: just the right amount of spice, subtle and balanced, not overpowering the drink at all. Love this spot.

For $15 a cocktail, it's definitely one of the more affordable spots in the city. Came here on a Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't busy, probably since it was quite early in the day. We got 2 drinks: - The Green Room: this hands down is a great cocktail choice especially if you're looking for something on the lighter side. I would recommend this if you are unsure what to try. - I don't remember what the second drink was called but I do remember it had roku gin in it (not sure if it is the gin and juice). It is definitely on the stronger side. If you do not enjoy gin... you will not like this. Was not expecting it to be so strong. Overall, I like the vibes of this place and like that it is open on the earlier side. The drinks felt a bit of a hit or miss, but we only tried 2 of them.

I always go with the nachos and have never been disappointed, perfect portion for me, but could be shared if you're not super hungry or wanted to mix in a bunch of different food items. Service is friendly but very slow; especially for drinks. I'm not deducting any stars for that though, it's a very small bar that gets very crowded during happy hour so the staff constricted by space, not a desire to work.

Had lunch here with some colleagues (I've been here before but it's been 10+ years). In general, the group found the ordering method a bit wonky. It falls for me into the category of one of those spots who did some things for Covid and has continued those practices because they seemed to work. You go into a line and order entrees at the first station; but it's not clear which ones and some are precooked and some aren't. But you don't order beverages or sides there you do that at the register. Seating is self service and you grab your own napkins and silverware at the bar. Fine; but if you don't know no one is going to tell you even if you ask. Food - pretty decent food. I got the shrimp plate. Rice and beans standard - and lots of them. Shrimp not too many, but I was not super hungry. Salad, lots of it but wilted hot and weird. I could have gone without or preferred some escabeche. Tortillas; corn, store bought IMO. Ceviche; not bad not great. Guacamole same. All in all I ate about 1/5 of my plate and had plenty so if you want to fill up and have a bit appetite this is for you:

The most interesting little wafers, ahi tuna with some avocado cream and a little spicy sauce. I absolutely devoured these! So good! Now for the best part, the champagne presentation! A gentleman gave a little info session on on how this process is done and at the end he took a giant to a bottle of champagne to open it. Really Cool! What made this even better was that everyone at the bar got to snag a complimentary glass. What a treat! Super cute little hour of so sitting at the bar at the St. Regis.
