If I could give 0 stars I would....I wish i could say this place was great but I can't. We went here the Sunday after the Vikings game so I understand that they were busy. We called ahead and the staff told us it would be a 20 minute wait- perfect. We get there and have to pay a cover of $10 per person to eat. I asked if the cover was just for dinner and we were told yes. We paid and walked in looking for a seat. There were quite a few empty tables. We sat down and we're told we had to put our names in and would only be able to sit in the bar tables. We put our name down, and we're told we'd be called in 20 minutes....we then bought a drink ($40 for two cocktails) which took 10 minutes just to be acknowledged. After we got our drinks we decided to walk outside and sit at a table- we were told by the waitress it was fine to sit. She said she'd be back and never came back, even though she passed us a few times. After waiting about half an hour, we decided to leave. We were never called for our table either. I have never been more confused about a place in my life. I really wanted to like it from the looks of it, but this has got to be the biggest disappointment ever. Best thing about this bar is it's old-timey, corner-bar feel. The kind of place you can enjoy a Manhattan in a three-piece suit or mow through a pile of nachos while enjoying a small but varied beer selection - all while watching the game or playing pool/darts. This summer they hired a new chef who puts his own spin on everything from the Turkey Wrap with heated turkey and bacon to the mozzarella and pancetta bacon on the Club. Definitely a place worth lunching at. I've been here during events and they do get busy (best prices by far this close to the Stadium) but neither unreasonably nor unexpectedly so - plus they have enough staff where I didn't have to wait for "my" server when I needed something. Bottom line is if you're looking for a great place to either have lunch or pre-event at the Stadium this is place to do it. #protip - ask if the chef is making desserts that night. Took out the pool table and the bar crowd hasn't been the same since. I was a regular and I won't be anymore. If you aren't there during happy hour then the prices are too high. Pull tabs and the bartenders are the only good things at this bar now. read more

We decided to try this place on a whim after the Aquatennial. DO NOT ORDER THE PIZZA. It was after 10pm and we were starving so we were told it's the only thing they could make at that hour. The pizza was undercooked and tasted like a what I imagine it would taste like to bake a lunchable. The waitress we had was also a little unprofessional in my opinion. She ended up spilling some drinks on two people in my party with glass breaking on the floor. She kinda laughed it off and cleaned up the glass... with her hands. We had to call a different waitress over to bring a broom to sweep up the broken glass. My friends had their drinks on their pants and didn't even get thier drinks comped. The bar is cool and the servers are nice but our cheese curds were cold. Probably a one time thing but my wife was so upset that my chances of action dropped to nearly zero. I have been married for 12 years and have 2 kids so any chance of action is precious. Buyer beware! If you are single, no problem, lots of prospects in here, but my chances are much much lower now. With good service and solid food, Bar Zia is a nice place to go after work. The dry rub chicken wings are a particular standout on a simple yet comprehensive menu. The main bar area has plenty of high tops and good sight lines to the TVs. Excellent two-for-ones during happy hour. I love bars and bar food. This was the worst bar food ever and even worse service. Chicken fingers were raw inside and the grilled cheese and tomato was a tiny slice of cheese on grilled stale bread with 2 slices of green tomato on the side. The fries were ok. This is such a gem of a bar! The staff is always thoughtful and attentive. The new chef-inspired menu sets this bar apart from other bars in the area. I recommend the wild rice egg rolls. This is by far the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant! It took over 2 hours to get our food to our table and 3 out of the 4 burgers were burnt they messed up 2 of the 7 orders they gave us tater tots instead of fries and. Finally they did not remove anything from our bill for the burnt or incorrect orders and the servers were completely clueless when we asked them questions. read more

The owner was very nice but was the only server/bartender/seater/checkout person there on a Friday night so we kind of felt like things were crazed and felt bad for being there which isn't what I think you want for a restaurant. Very nice place off of the mainstream downtown mpls. Turn back in time architecture with beautiful built in solid wood bar. Well preserved old tile floors. You dont find this to Often in Minneapolis anymore. Very friendly attentive staff. The macaroni and cheese is a true favorite. Close to greenline. I must say my favorite thing about this place is its in downtown. Yet further away from the mainstream. Which almost gives it a small town neighborhood gathering place. New chef driven menu is very exceptional. On the other side is a pool table which gives it a more comfortable feel. Kudos to the owner for making it genuine. read more

Don't bother! Decided to eat here after the Vikings game, as it was close to the stadium and less crowded than other bars. After eating here, I understand why it wasn't crowded. Upon sitting down, we realized that there was only one waiter working our entire section. So, it was understandable that service would be a little slow. We ordered from the limited food selections on the menu. There seemed to be some confusion coming from the kitchen. No orders were sent to the correct table and some people received food that wasn't even theirs. One table never received their food. They waited 1.5 hours for nachos, that never came. After a while, we realized that our waiter wasn't coming back. It appears that he just walked off the job. Can't say I blame him. The restaurant was very unorganized and the food wasn't that good. Needless to say, after waiting 40 minutes to receive our check (which was for the wrong table) I won't be back. read more
