    Uni Bibimbap

Came here during a World Cup game and the atmosphere was great. The Uni Bibimbap was the best thing we ordered and absolutely worth getting. We also enjoyed the tteokbokki, hwe muchim, chicken wings, and galbi jjim. Bonus points for the strong AC on a hot NYC summer day Would definitely come back for the uni bibimbap.

I'm only hesitant to give this 5 stars just because I only came here for the seasonal shaved ice. This may be the best Korean shaved ice I've ever had. Mandarins, raspberries, blueberries, candied nuts, injeolmi (rice cake), red beans, ice cream and a wafer on top for decoration. Everything in ample portions - I think the $17 price is justified and can easily feed 2-3. The ambiance is clean, quiet and low key. But I understand it's a drinking establishment so might get rowdier on the weekends/in the evenings. Service was polite and amiable. I wish this was year round and not seasonal.

Have been eyeing this place for a while and decided to come during happy hour! It wasn't very full when we arrived but between 6/7 the restaurant started getting busy! Happy hour was a great way to try multiple things for the first time especially with there only being two of us. I truly don't have complainants. Everything was tasty. The only thing I probably would order again are the wings. Everything else I loved. There's also so much more on the menu I'd like to try. Great restaurant for multiple occasions. The staff were friendly and the food came out fairly quickly!

Food was decent, hit the spot but was very pricey for what it's worth. Glad I tried it out but will definitely explore other options in the area next time.

Be aware that there's two locations!! One is in union square is more casual/ quick bites. I made a reservation at the wrong location but thankfully they were able to accommodate my party of 5 on a weekday night Food was okay - I've definitely had better pancakes before and the bibimbap was lacking a bit of flavor. I really liked the soy garlic wings though. My friends rave about this place and come here often so maybe we went on a bad day? I don't know if i'd be willing to try it again

If you are looking for great affordable Happy Hour place near Korean town, I would highly recommend this place. Their Happy Hours are longer from 12pm-6pm every day so you can get light lunch there. Available on the menu Fried Chili Shrimp, Chicken Wings, Crunchy Tofu, Fried Dumplings, Tteokboki. Also for lunch, they serve affordable Tapas if you want light meal. We went there for dinner and ordered Hwe Muchim (Spicy Korean Ceviche Salad) as appetizer. All the fish served with Korean chili sauce was fresh. Crunchy Tofu covered in sweet and spicy sauce and yet still crispy. Beef Galbi Buns were succulent and juicy filled with so much flavor. I love their Bimbibap Uni. Everything we ate was excellent plus service was phenomenal. Super friendly and attentive ! What we ordered : - Crunchy Tofu in sweet & spicy sauce - Tuna Mayo - Steamed Pork Dumplings - Hwe Muchim (Spicy Korean Ceviche with salad) - Beef Galbi Buns - Bimbibap Uni - Fisherman Stew - NY Bites (marinated short ribs)

We had a really great dinner at Barn Joo. We didn't even realize we came in close to closing time, but we never felt rushed, which immediately set a good tone. Meeting Janice was honestly the highlight of the night. She was wonderful and gave us amazing service throughout!! The restaurant was clean with a really nice, relaxed ambience. When it comes to food, the buckwheat cold noodles were my favorite. They were refreshing, full of flavor, and the sashimi was super fresh. We also ordered the fried tiger rolls, which were crunchy in all the right ways and tasted fresh. Overall a really enjoyable experience from start to finish.

I really thought this place was great and have no complaints! I love the tapas style options. We ordered: crunchy tofu (our fave, delish and the kimchi was so good), soft shell crab, fried pork dumplings, and bulgogi tacos. I think four tapas for two people is perfect. Ggreat service and refreshing soju cocktails.

Great spot for happy hour with discounted prices on drinks and food! I recommend the wings, crunchy tofu, and chili shrimp. All items were tasty and easy to share. The mains are a lot smaller than the pictures show, but do taste delicious. Staff were friendly and we were allowed to stay quite a while for happy hour.

Decided to come here before a concert with a friend, and left pretty satisfied! I've only ever had takeout from this place so was surprised that the service isn't as great as it should be. It took some time to get our order in and get napkins, but not a huge deal. We both got sizzling stone pots (I got the spicy pork, she got the mushroom one). Really great and was perfect for pre-concert fuel. We also got drinks. I tried their matcha cocktail and I wish I had a bigger glass of it! So tasty.

Overall: A // 5 stars Much smaller and calmer than the union square location, but they also offer an exciting wheel of fortune to spin for those who make a reservation -- in which we won some peach soju shots -- which set off the meal at a positive vibe. I love the diversity of the menu covering everything you could want to eat in Korean cuisine from healthful choices to comfort classics. (Uni Bibimbap: A) - Colorful bowl with plentiful amount of sea urchin at the $35 range. I love how they took a beautiful Korean dish and infused it with flavors from other cuisines, from the crunchy quinoa, to the colorful roe and greens and salad. Excellent and high quality Korean food! The restaurant is small, I'd recommend a reservation. It's pretty loud inside, but we didn't mind it. We got the fried spicy dumplings, the bulgogi main, and the fried chicken baos. Everything was absolutely delicious, and very filling. The main is big enough to share, and I really enjoyed the variety of sides it came with. I also ordered the melon soju cocktail, it was so refreshing. I loved the ice cube on a stick it came with. Food came out very quickly, and service was great. If I'm ever in NY again, I'd return.

Visit & Service We came here without a reservation after visiting the Empire State Building (in the area) and were looking for a dinner spot on a weeknight. When asked if we had a reservation, I said no and asked if one was necessary. The staff member who greeted us was really nice and said it wasn't a problem, taking us to a table immediately. It was such a breath of fresh air compared to service we'd experienced at other dining spots in the city. Food We had to order the wings and tried both flavors, they were both good. We also ordered a few other items. Funny enough, I had looked through Yelp photos beforehand to decide what to get and noticed my dish in the pictures came with three pieces of corn, which is my favorite. When my dish arrived, it only had one piece. I asked the server, and he explained that they used to serve three but now it's just one. He kindly brought a few extra pieces on the side since we were three people. (They charged us for them, which was fair.) Overall Experience Overall, it's a cute spot with friendly staff, which is refreshing in a city not exactly known for warm service. You might want to make a reservation just to be safe, but even without one, the experience was enjoyable.

Yes it is loud and bustling downstairs but it was hopping. Staff was extremely accommodating on my visit and I did not feel rushed at all. Keep in mind that I was a single diner and your experience may vary. I don't know about happy hour on Sundays.

What time is their happy hour? The BarnJoo website says 5-7PM but their BarnJoo 35 website says 3-6PM.

Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. With its casual bougie aesthetics, this spot has quickly become one of my favorite eateries in Fort Lee-lee, It beautifully blends Korean, Japanese, and American flavors in a way that feels both comforting and elevated. Needless to say, we will be back!

We walked into a stylish but relaxed space that feels suited for both casual dinners and a night out with friends, with an atmosphere that balances energy and comfort well. The room gets lively when it fills up, but the noise level adds to the experience rather than detracting from it, making it feel like a place built for sharing and conversation. The food is where Hojokban stands out. The complimentary banchan sets the tone for the meal with flavorful sides that add variety before the main dishes arrive, each one thoughtfully prepared and offering a different texture or flavor profile. The gomtang soup is one of the more comforting options, bringing together tender meat, a rich broth, and classic Korean flavors in a way that feels hearty without being overly heavy. The galbi dishes are also a highlight, with the meat cooked well and carrying the sweet and savory balance that makes Korean-style grilled beef so enjoyable. The portions are generous, and the quality of the ingredients is noticeable across the board. The menu has several unique dishes worth exploring. The truffle potato pancake is one of the more memorable items, combining a familiar Korean staple with a richer, modern twist that adds depth without losing the essence of the original. The perilla oil noodles are another standout, offering a lighter but still flavorful option with a distinct nutty aroma that lingers on the palate. The beef tartare adds a more refined element to the meal, fresh and well seasoned, while dishes like the ramyun fried rice bring a fun comfort food element with bold, savory flavors. Together, the menu covers enough ground that you can build a meal around both familiar favorites and more creative choices. Service is friendly and the overall experience feels welcoming rather than overly formal. The staff are attentive without hovering, and they handle the busy flow of the restaurant with a pace that keeps the meal moving without feeling rushed. The menu is designed for sharing, and the portions make it easy to order several dishes across the table, allowing you to try more of what the kitchen has to offer. The lively atmosphere adds to the meal, making it a good fit for group dinners where the energy of the room matches the pace of the food. Hojokban does a good job blending traditional Korean flavors with a more modern dining experience. It is a place where you can come for familiar comfort food while still finding dishes that feel creative and different. If you enjoy Korean cuisine and want a restaurant with a little more personality, this is a spot worth checking out. It delivers a meal that feels both familiar and fresh, striking a balance that makes it easy to return to and explore more of the menu.

The servers kept things moving but with very minimal interference and no extra visits; we would have liked a little more attention when we finished some of the banchan and kind of expected they would be replenished, but we certainly were fine without it. And the entrees were delicious and even with other tables almost on top of each other it never felt crowded due to partitions that I saw them remove for some larger groups needing tables "together", and I never felt part of someone else's dinner convo. Presentation was amazing and food was delicious - Soon Tofu Soup with seafood for me, which arrived bubbling like a cauldron. It came with a raw egg that you crack into the soup and let it cook to your level of doneness. Hubs got hot stone bibimbap and as we all know the crispy rice is the best part of it... it's just tough to separate it from the actual stone dish so you can eat it, especially if you wait until it cools and fuses. If I was there with more stomach space I wanted to try the galbi, and in fact there's a weekday lunch combo that could facilitate that.

They advertised themselves as having the best katsu in NYC and they may just be right. With our order it came with a bunch of side dishes. Kimchi, Marconi salad, and mashed potatoes, and others. They were all good. Food came out pretty quick as well. Don't think we waited too long for anything. After we were done they gave us some ice cream. I would absolutely love to come back here again for lunch and probably will.

The Ssambap Set was incredibly satisfying. The beef was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the fresh lettuce wraps, rice, banchan, and soup. Every bite was well-balanced and packed with flavor. We also ordered the Mixed Katsu Set, which was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and cooked to perfection. It came with generous portions and made for a comforting, filling meal. The restaurant has a modern and welcoming atmosphere, the staff was friendly and attentive, and everything arrived fresh and beautifully presented. If you're looking for a delicious Korean lunch in NYC's Koreatown, Jeong Yuk Jeom is definitely worth a visit. I'll be coming back to try more of their menu!

The galbi-jjim was perfectly tender like I could literally pull it apart with my chopstick. The addition of the rice cake, pumpkin, and pyogo mushroom were a nice touch. The soy sauce base was a little sweet and if you take a bit and pour it over the mushroom sotbap, it is soooooooo good!!!!!!! The mushroom sotbap is so umami. There is foie gras in it which maybe be in a little overpowering for some people but I really enjoyed it I could easily eat a whole bowl of their freshly made kimchi. It was perfect. Not too salty or spicy or fermented. Literally perfect!!! I actually asked for seconds. The cold cucumber broth was really refreshing Highly, highly recommend making a resy!! There were just a couple of things that kept this from being a full 5 stars. My 5 year old was required to order an entrée. We were planning to order one anyway, but I still found it a bit unusual. I also requested a birthday candle with dessert for our celebration when I made a reservation, but unfortunately the request wasn't acknowledged. Despite those minor disappointments, we had a wonderful experience. The food and service really stood out, and I would definitely bring visiting friends and family here. I'd happily return again 4.5/5.
