Made a reservation for four people for dinner on Friday night including a toddler and the staff was great. It was a little odd that they did not have my reservation when we showed up (I made it over the phone and had multiple confirmation texts) but they immediately seated us and let us stow the stroller away and bought out a high chair for the baby. They checked on us often, cleared plates when we were done, and were generally very kind and pleasant. I originally intended to leave a 15% tip as a matter of courtesy. I really enjoyed their galbijim! It was different from what I was used to, more on the soupy than saucy side but really tasty and very tender. Its a nice restaurant with friendly service too. I'm not a fan of their clientele if I'm being honest, I had 3 separate occasions in one night where other customers had lack of situational awareness/feel they are more important than others around them. He booked my party and allowed us to have separate checks. When we arrived, I found out he seated us upstairs. We had our own private area upstairs! It was very quiet and comfortable. He came up and said hi to us. We got great, fast service and the food was tasty!! I have nothing bad to say about this place except if you have walking difficulties, make sure you are not seated upstairs. Overall: this place is slept on compared to the other restaurants on this street. Rushing to get a 5 person table at 630 pm on a Thursday we checked Barn Joo thinking we'd need to wait 30 minutes at least. We managed to instantly get a table and get seated and the food experience thereafter was pleasantly surprising. Food: we ordered the corn cheese, spicy chicken with cheese, crispy tofu to start. While very normal dishes the chicken with cheese blew us away with its crispy saucy fiery flavor. The cheese melted on top to add to the fiery bite. Main dishes we ordered the jap chae which was not your typical noodle. The vegetables were stir fried with way more flavor and texture to complement the slippery glass noodles. Not too heavy on the sesame oil either. Lastly we ordered the seafood kalguksu and this pot was the gift that keeps on giving. Loaded with mussels crab felt like a never ending treasure. Ambience/Decor/Service: your typical NYC restaurant with its dark lighting and tight seating. It makes it incredibly hard to take photos as such. At first, I was a little disappointed because this location is less sushi oriented (only 1 raw fish item) than the other location. I have been coming to Barn Joo in Ktown for a couple years now and it's been a staple sit down restaurant for me. I am a big fan of their kimchi-jjigae, or Korean Army Stew. It is easily sharable between two people! Rice isn't included so you have to get that on the side. The soup is SO flavorful, and not too spicy. The meatballs and hot dogs are my favorite part of the stew! Their wings are also very good and crispy. We also go their Barn Joo harmony flight, which is 1 of each of their signature soju cocktails, the Purple Rain was my favorite! The staff is also very attentive and food gets served pretty quickly. The industrial barn-house themed interior makes for a really cute atmosphere, as well as their iconic glowing moon! Great place for dinner with friends or even a date night. read more

It's perfect for the summer. The hwe bibimbap was also super fresh and tasty. It really tasted like the sea hahah. The bulgogi main was also very tasty and the portion was pretty big. The food was good. I'm a huge fan of japchae and it was pretty good here. The scallion pancake was also delicious.
