The place is very loud, essentially deafening! So loud the waitress could not hear us for ordering. She tried to talk to someone about turning down the sound but she was not able to do it. The "noise" comes from about 20 or more 50 in TV sets around the dinning area. For example. at our table was a 50-inch tv behind me and about 10 inches above my head and there was another tv in back of my wife also about 10 inches above her head, both tv's at full volume. The food was good! But the service was very poor. the waitress brought our food and drinks out but never came to see if we needed anthything else. We needed salt (not on the table) and I had to check around the dinning room for salt. We did not the waitress until she brought me the bill. Will we go back? never! I am Chinese. I walked into this place wanting to check out the menu at Thursday or Friday at 1:30PM. There were like 2 waitresses. A black waitress didn't acknowledge me and kept talking to 2 white patrons. A white waitress, all the way in the back, very far back, acknowledged me but went back to the kitchen. This place is somewhat empty and we have asked for a waiter to come to the table, he (kyle) stopped by and said he would be right back. Well I waited 15 more minutes before placing my food order online since I want to catch the bruin game here. I wouldn't have known or visited this place had it not been for one of my friend's enthusiasm for pool and my other friend's love of alcohol. Q's Billiard Club is definitely a place to check out if you're a fan of pool, drinks, and relaxing/hanging out with friends. The dim lighting, deep red pool tables, and the slightly outdated decorations make for an interesting place to hang out. If I remember correctly, you need to enter through Barney's Beanery in order to reach the stairs that will lead you up to Q's. When we got up, there were a ton of empty pool tables, but not too many workers who were eager to help us out. The rates for pool aren't the cheapest, but we were all game for an hour of pool. I think it was $20 an hour to play pool - but if you come on a certain weekday night, the rates are much cheaper ... so that's definitely something people should take advantage of! They also have a bar area where you can order drinks to take back to your pool area. Drinks were not too pricey - around $5-$7 for some pretty strong alcohol. Not sure what I ordered, but all the drinks we had tried were pretty good. We actually headed to a restaurant/bar a bit later and the drinks there were way watered down in comparison to Q's. Basically a very chill spot to play pool. They have all the equipment for you, and the workers don't seem too stingy on time. These are full pool tables, which is nice. They also serve food and claim to be a sports bar/late night hang-out. Wouldn't mind coming back again if I was in the area. tl;dr - A pretty nice place to hang out if you're in Pasadena and need something to do. Pool tables, food, drinks, TVs - not a bad place to hang out. Prices may be a bit high if you're not coming in when they have specials, but other than that - I had a fun time with my friends here. read more

I went here on a Friday night with my boyfriend and we had a good time except for one thing. We went upstairs briefly to check it out since I'd been curious and an extremely rude bartender up there was kicking us out. I told her they allowed me to come up there briefly just to see it and she again told me I needed to leave and gave me the meanest scornful look. She was a tatted female employee. I've been to other Barney's and never experienced such rude customer service. I left right after because I didn't want to get another dirty look and avoid problems. I had a great time at Barney's Beanery on Mother's day. I usually don't drink bloody mary, but their bloody mary was really delicious and went well with their chicken wings. They also have really good IPA beers and again, those go well with the wings and fries I had. So yea, overall I'd say it was a great experience. We had outdoor seating and the weather was just right. Not too hot and not too cold. Absolutely lovely experience and the waiter was really nice too. Although he had a ton of customers to serve, he was always on time with the refills and very quick with whatever extra requests we had. Only thing is the bathroom locks. They seem to be a bit jankity and a guy opened the door on my while I was "taking the kids to the pool". Luckily my back was turned so there was almost zero embarrassment factor. Team made it sooo easy to make a reservation over the phone(Angie/Josh were the best) Enthusiastic/friendly team other than blacky with her repetitive mistakes/sassy tapping on my shoulder/upset when she didn't get a tip for this. I had not been to a Barneys since the 1980s- Hollywood location. It is nice that it has expanded. I had lunch there today - chili burger with salad. It was a nice burger with delicious chili on the side. Plenty of blue cheese salad dressing. Nice server - it was quiet at lunch - I imagine it's much busier in the evening. Be careful. At no fault of the people who work there, they were friendly. But, while singing karaoke downstairs, my cousin got roofied by a guy in a suit singing Backstreet Boys. Yo this place used to have decent food but it's like a 2/10 these days. I ordered the burger and onions rings and my friend got fries and wings. The burger was absolute trash. Two mini patties that were straight out of a paper box. The onion rings, wow. Huge disappointment. A few years back, I had respect for them and the ranch. They were made in house I think and I actually looked forward to ordering them. Now they are mini freezer burnt warmed up pieces of you know what. I thought it would have been better with the wings but dang, when they call it dry rub, they really rubbed it dry. This place is weird. On weekdays, the staff is great, the food is wonderful, and it is nice place to hang out. On weekends, (with the new Tiki Bar), they make the experience unpleasant. Staff ignores you. Drinks in the tiki lounge are super expensive (20 bucks for a slushy), and nobody cares. I tried to support this place through Covid and I like that they try new things. For now, Pasadena has many more places that are better and are appreciative of your business on weekends. Weekdays are still good here. read more

Went on a Sunday morning and Sophia and Cynthia were bartending. Friendly staff and attentive. They narrowed down their menu from the big newspaper that used to have to a much shorter one. The chilaquiles were actually really good and would recommend. They had the Chargers game on the big screen with sound so that was better than Yard House that didn't. I'm very disappointed and Yelp seems like the only way to let others know. We had a 5:30 reservation at Barney's Beanery in Pasadena. Sure it's not a fancy place - promotes itself as classic LA and the Santa Monica location has been good for us in the past. Online it seemed reasonable for dinner with our grandkids before heading to an event. After waiting 45 minutes at the table, asking 3 times for a service person to at least come over, we gave up. We went down the street and were immediately seated and served. Lots of places in this area with immediate service and great food. Even a pop up restaurant that we should have tried. After we left, Barney's "cancelled" our reservation on the Resy app. I guess this assures we can't provided feedback via the app or in any other way leave a review there. This was after we were seated and waited 45 minutes for someone to come to the table. Not good for any guest, but especially with kids. (By the way, if you look on the Resy app, it shows a perfect 5 star rating so maybe they cancel other people who aren't likely to be happy. This seems to be a "feature" of how Resy works and clearly it means their ratings are worthless. Let's hope this Yelp review can alert others to be cautious.) So, if you want a loud bar in the middle of Pasadena with what appears to be a colorful menu harking back to "good old days", this might work for you. read more

Great place to watch sports and not miss a thing (unless you need to use the restroom); TV monitors everywhere. However, the food, happy hour options for liquor drinkers (e.g., catered to beer drinkers), and female sports fans (mostly testosterone), is the downside to this place. Unfortunately, like most sports bars, men and women fans are not created equal; this place is no exception. Truly dissatisfied and, hint, hint; their prices definitely do not reflect quality for a double $$ rating. Their wings were undercooked (slimy meat; I only ate 3/6), so I asked for a "grilled" shrimp quesadilla, and "tadah," it was also undercooked. I could hear "Ursula" singing "you poor unfortunate soul" when I tried eating the slightly grey shrimp, after the waiter suggested that I sent it back. Lastly, I came in on a Monday (to watch football and hockey) around 6:30 (their happy hour ends at 7), not busy at all. The female waitress handed me off to a male waiter; both did not suggest happy hour liquor options, they knew it was my first time, therefore I was unaware that I was ordering my drinks at regular price. I can get the same liquor drink at "Freddie's" bar down the block for $10, the Beanery charges $22; I did not know I was running up my tab. I wanted to order a second drink before happy hour ended, but there was no one around or coming by to ask for last call drinks. When I pointed that out to the waiter at 7:02, he said, "yeah, I'm sorry. It is what it is. Our register stamps the time." We ate here on a Saturday around 3 pm. We were seated right away in the patio. The table was dirty, there was no silverware or napkins. The patio was dirty. We ordered potato skins and dinner after waiting 20+ minutes to get noticed. Then after waiting 30 minutes to see food, they never brought the potato skins. Then when we said we wanted to cancel the skins, they brought them anyway for free which was really great. The girl who delivered them however was quite rude about it. The food was mediocre mostly. I can highly recommend the sweet potato fries. They were delicious. The grand finale was the bathroom. Worst ever!!! I think they were actually scary! NonTP or seat covers. The prices were pretty reasonable at least, so I if you desire a quirky mediocre eating experience that is reasonable priced, then this is the place for you. read more
