Never been to this Barney's Beanery before. It was crowded on a sports Sunday (also a big 5K at UCLA). We did get a booth. Our server was friendly, and attentive. Nice that there are tvs all over for the sports. The food wasn't great. I had a hamburger (didn't ask how I wanted it) that was overcooked and not that big of a patty. Rather blah. Chili was good, but salad was bagged salad with some cucumbers added. I prefer a real salad. My friends liked their meals (hamburger, omelet) so I should have stuck with the breakfast options. The menu is quite large. The Barney's IPA was tasty, especially after running. I would come back but would be pickier about what I order. read more

Your typical run of the mill bar in a college town - filled with undergrads, a bit noisy with the TV games and music and convos going, sticky floors, and cheap beers and bar bites. It can definitely get a bit crowded in here, especially on thirsty Thursday and the weekend or on game days. Service can be a bit slow, but the waiters are certainly friendly and will come to you if they see that you need service. The quality of their cocktails and dishes is actually impressive, considering the size and variety of their menu options, but prices have gone up since I was an undergrad. Expect to pay anywhere from $20-50 per person depending on whether or not you order food with your drinks! read more

Came on Thursday night and didn't know there it Karaoke there at 10pm so it got really entertaining! Well packed with people so it might be hard getting a table. Service outside the bar I could see being very slow but I was just there for drinks. There's 2 floors and overall the interior is very unique! There is so much decoration from license plates, car rims, lights, etc but somehow it doesn't feel cluttered and worked out pretty well for aesthetics. There is shuffleboard and foosball on the second floor if you want games but karaoke is downstairs. There's also a screening in the back of the second floor but was pretty empty up there. Half the second floor was closed off so mostly just bar service up there. I got a Tropical Cosmic Sour $8 for a glass and it was very good! Would definitely recommend this if you like sours and ciders. It's not super sour, crispy, and refreshing! Bartender service was immediate so no complaints! Barney's on Broxton Ave in Westwood Bl is a popular stop for students and the general crowd who like all foods you would eat while watching sports. My visiting nieces wanted to try the food and they had outdoor patio seating which was also furbabe friendly. I've been to another Barney's in West Hollywood, Santa Monica and Brentwood's Barney's Gourmet Burgers. The menu is similar to that of Yard House, which I like. Our waitress was friendly, helpful and had great energy. The kids ordered the 'Half Time' nachos of veggie black bean, cheese with sour cream and guacamole. Additionally shared the Barney's signature burger, ice tea, lemon aid. Since it was Happy Hour, I ordered a cranberry + Grey Goose vodka, easy on the alcohol ;) The kids liked the food they ordered, but were Not to impressed, as they have had higher quality burgers elsewhere. There were a couple of tv monitors outside tuned into some sports channel, but we were entertained by the sights and sounds outside. Inside Barney's every seat was taken, mostly with guys drinking and watching sports ...most likely Beer! The interior decor was like a college guy's dorm room; all things cars, All American symbols and of course UCLA logos to patronize the Bruins We enjoyed sitting out in the shaded patio and watched people stroll by, as the Farmer's Market was also on this Broxton street on Thursdays. There are so many sports bars in Westwood, many I haven't been to, and this was my second time here with my nieces who liked the food and had fun. Worth a stop for casual food and fun. read more

This place is very OK in a really cool area. I must advise, absolutely avoid the micheladas at all costs! They just aren't good! They also have tiny, chopped up pieces of cilantro in it and it just messes with the taste completely. My date and I shared the breakfast burrito and it was alright. Nothing special at all and the salsa served with it is very okay. Doesn't add that zing of flavor that you'd hope a salsa would! I give this three stars because the service was great. The ladies were attentive, kind, and came by frequently to check in. The interior is kind of really dark but fun too. The bathroom is downstairs and there's so much to look at in there so it's kind of a fun little journey but ain't no one going somewhere because they have a cool bathroom. read more

Barney's Beanery is a fun bar with great food, but I can understand some of the poor reviews. The decor is really interesting, with images of all kind of pop icon heroes--and they have a mix of big and small tables. We were here to watch a March Madness game. They have a ton of TVs which makes this a great place of sports. The sound is loud, but that is not a surprise. The servers were nice, but service overall was kind of slow--they could definitely use more help. Our group mainly drank beers--they have a nice selection on tap (including a great German Hefeweizen). For appetizers, we had chicken wings and onion rings. I loved the wings--they had crisp skins and the sweet and spicy sauce was great, but a couple people mentioned they were charged. The onion rings were good also. Feedback on other good was generally positive, but mixed. The calzones were excellent, with a great crust. The burger was also very good. The club sandwich was just OK. Overall, a good place to see a game, but they need more help and could improve the food a bit. read more

A quick trip to UCLA brought me to this bar. Fun nostalgic enormous menu ! Crowd of a good mix of college kids and older adults. Loud and fun with plenty of beer and some good cocktails . I had a Hawaiian mule which had hanger 1, ginger beer, pineapple and mint very refreshing ! The menu is extensive and includes all day breakfast menu. Burgers, Sandwiches, chili, fries lots more ! I chose the BBQ juicy Lucy which is a cheese stuffed burger. Yummy it was def juicy ! We came on Tuesday trivia night so it was loud fun and great atmosphere! came to barney's on a wednesday night with my girlfriend after a long day at work, looking forward to enjoying a few beers as we've done dozens of times before. but on this occasion, after we seated ourselves, we waited about 20 mins for service. one of the guys from Back of House was kind enough to bring us menus and waters, which should've been a sign to us that the Front of House service was going to be less than excellent. the bar was not packed by any means (wednesday night, mostly older folks, not many students our age), and there was plenty of staff, at least four servers as well as the manager, but nobody came by to serve us as they seemed to be too busy standing around chatting. eventually i decided to just order from the bar, which apparently got the manager's attention, as she directed one of the servers to our table. we ordered, and the server asked for our IDs, which we provided. for some reason, this server decided that my girlfriend's ID was fake, but rather than call over another server for a second opinion or to get the manager, she decided to confiscate the ID and walk off to another room downstairs, without telling us where she was going or what she was doing with the ID. i flagged down the manager and asked where the server had taken my girlfriend's ID, and if we could get it back since she had been gone a concerningly long time and frankly i didn't trust the situation since my girlfriend has never been given this much trouble with her ID. the manager's response was dismissive, passive aggressive, and somewhat accusatory, as if to say "shut up and we'll give your fake ID back when we're ready". so we continued waiting another 5 minutes or so without so much as a glimpse of where the ID was. by this point, my girlfriend, who is autistic, was feeling pretty anxious and her confidence was gone. when the manager finally returned, her tone was the same as before, curt and subtly accusatory. when asked her age, my girlfriend slipped up and said she was 25, but hastily corrected herself and said 24, which could've been explained by the confusing nature of the situation, as well as the fact that her birthday was very recent. but the manager didn't want to hear it. she interrupted my girlfriend and told us that we would not be served alcohol, and turned away without letting us get another word in. at the end of the day, i understand that the staff were just doing their jobs and that they're most likely trained to be safe rather than sorry, but the manner in which the situation was handled was unprofessional. the communication was abysmal, and the ID should have never left our table, let alone our sight. for all we know, the server might have left the ID unattended somewhere, where any disreputable person could have stolen it or taken pictures of it. plus, if the manager was really thorough and not so caught up in her power trip, then she might have noticed and considered that my girlfriend has anxiety and chosen some alternative test methods, which would've proven beyond doubt that the ID is real, rather than jumping to conclusions. Hell, i would've preferred she called the police. at least they would've been able to tell her the ID was real.. this is the final straw for us. we put up with the slow service and phenomenally high prices before ($16 for frozen jalapeño poppers? $20 for a 10" pepperoni pizza??), but now we are faced with an unwelcoming environment. needless to say, we won't be going back to this location. WeHo is wayyy more fun anyways. read more

Food is always hot and very tasty. My husband and I both got cheese burgers and a salad. I'm so happy that they give you an option on your sides. It was worked out well that Barney's was the only restaurant open on Thanksgiving because we ended having a fantastic meal. We got an appetizer of the mozzarella sticks which were good and then both ordered the tuna salad sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich not only tasted great but was massive, and they gave you a generous amount of fries. We both left full and happy. Came here when they opened at 12 and I wish I would have kept walking and went to Ami. 1) They only had 1 worker, where's her help? 2) I had the Lucy Jucy burger, asked for grilled onions instead of regular onions and well done. The meat was red and undercooked, my burger was plain and the grilled onions were on the side. Wtf happened to the rest of the veggies on my burger ?!!! A nice place for gathering in large numbers. Service wasn't great, so there is most definitely room for improvement. It felt like they were understaffed because we had trouble getting a hold of our server to bring napkins or put in another order. It actually felt like there were more waiters bussing food than there were taking orders. Food came out very gradually, so by the time we ALL got our food , everyone had already finished their plates. One of the dishes came out so late that we just boxed it to go, but not only that, they messed up on the order. Some of our drinks, we had to re-order because the server forgot to punch it in the system. The chicken tenders I bought were huge and incredibly dry. Flavor was so bland. Proportions were too big for me--felt very wasteful especially if it wasn't good enough to finish. I only like coming here for friends and drinks. I would suggest eating someplace else, more worth it than paying for overpriced, bland food. As a newly graduated undergrad student at UCLA, I'd definitely have to say Barney's is a staple and a favorite. It's always pretty crowded here, even when you come during dinner or lunch hours. There's a small parking lot close by that isn't too pricey, but it's often filled up, so I would recommend Uber if you aren't in walking distance of the area. They've got a pretty large draft beer menu too. My favorite drinks to get are their ciders and their Allagash White. Their food, however, is a bit overpriced and fairly average. You do get pretty big servings, but overall I've never been super satisfied with what I've gotten. My friend and I went there for a late dinner. I got their Barney's fries and my friend got their black bean burger. Both were ok, and they were definitely generous with portions, but the fries were too salty and the flavor overall was average. It's definitely a solid plate that will fill you up, though, and it's not bad for bar food. read more

One of the worst bars I've ever been to in my life. I've been to plenty of bars around the world and across America. I ordered "the getaway" a drink which states it has Red Bull in it. Come to find out, the drink actually has a FULL CAN OF RED BULL in the liquid. Given that this is incredibly unsanitary and downright disgusting, I respectfully asked for a new drink. To which I was told that the bar cannot remake a drink once it's been made. I've had bars remake drinks for much smaller reasons but denying me a new drink when I'm complaining about the sanitation of my drink is absurd. The bartender was extremely rude to me, asking me how old I was and telling me "I need to learn how bars work". Mind you I've been to 5 star resorts and their bars across the world. From Antigua to Fiji, this is simply the worst bar experience I've ever had in my life. If I could give it a 0 I would, avoid this cheap bar for college students. read more

Luckily when she did, it was after we received our buffalo chicken pizza. For your own good don't order their pizzas. The dough has a very odd flavor and tasted undercooked. Luckily our server took care of it and we weren't charged for it. We couldn't even finish 1 slice. The flavor was just off something wasn't right about that pizza. I came with two others yesterday a little prior to my larger group arriving. We grabbed a table outside and the ambience seemed fun. I noticed that the waitress appeared upset about us arriving and this struck me as odd. We waited for 15 minutes at our table and the waitress came out several times to wait on the table behind us but didn't ask us if we wanted water, appetizers, anything. Our larger group arrives and there is still no service. Meanwhile, other tables besides ours is calling for drinks, napkins, etc. and the waitress just responds "I'm not your waitress" even though there was no one else working outside. Instead of dealing with the bad service and what was undoubtedly going to be a poor experience, we left early for our game. Sad to say I didn't get to try the food or drinks so I can't make a recommendation on that. Won't be coming back, though. read more

This restaurant was really chill. The bar inside was great and the atmosphere was loud and busy, just friends enjoying this place. We sat outside which was a bad call because it was cold but they had a small heater offering the faintest amount of heat which was enough haha. The servers were really cool and helpful considering it was my first time there. The food was fantastic, we got the spicy jalapeño juicy Lucy and the crispy chicken sandwich which were both bomb. The drinks here were also great and later during our stay, the place got packed with students and other hungry people. This place has more seating area than Rocco's since it serves lunch and dinner. There's even a small platform for people gathering to sing karaoke here! It seems like this place is def less popular than Rocco's and with slightly pricier drinks, but I think the drinks are way better here. I also like going out for drinks but am not a fan of overly stuffed places. I would def go here more often! read more

Probably one of the more lively bars in Westwood. It has a great atmosphere if you're trying to watch a sporting event or just catch up with friends. They also have an outdoor patio that overlooks the farmers market on Thursdays. In terms of food, they have your typical average bar food. I wasn't impressed by the nachos at all and wouldn't order them again. I loved the pretzel sticks!! My friend got the sweet and spicy wings, which were also delicious--but as most wings, in the pricier side (6 for $9). Happy hour is half off of certain foods (nachos, nacho fries, pretzel sticks, and a few more), so about $5 each. Parking in the Westwood area can be tricky. There are meters around and a 2 hour free parking lot on Broxton before 5. After the the lot has a $5 flat fee. read more

Barney's is an establishment in Westwood. I've been at UCLA two years now, and just went to Barney's for the first time recently due to covid concerns. Barney's has both an open-air outdoor patio and indoor seating. Indoor reminds me of a sports bar. My friend and I met up here on a weekday afternoon, so the place was really empty. The server was very attentive and did not seem annoyed when we needed more time to look over the menu. The menu is BIG. There are lots of options for everyone and I can't imagine someone wouldn't find something here to eat. I had the shaved pistrami sliders and they were great! Could use a bit more sauce, though. My friend had the pretzel sticks with cheese sauce and seemed to enjoy her food as well. I will definitely be coming back! read more
