We really wanted to like this place. However I feel compelled to write an honest review in hopes that they see this and they make an active effort to improve. The gimbap was decent - good rice to ingredient ratio. The Tteokbokki tasted OK but the rice cakes were overcooked and mushy. The oddang/fish cakes were great. The service is where it lacks. We had to get up several times to ask for napkins and spoons. When we were done and attempted to return the trays, one of the employees attempted to educate us on how to return it and where she liked things placed, utilizing a rude tone that rubbed us the wrong way. So much so that when confronted her about it, she denied speaking to us in such a manner - and if we were offended, she brushed us off with a very dismissive "then I'm sorry". Stopped by for gimbap to go, but left with their spicy raw marinated crab. Only regret is not being close by. I am willing to pay to have this shipped to me. I feel like it's better than the ones in Ktown and is a hidden gem. If I am ever in LA, this is the place to stop by. My husband is never a fan, but since having a bite, he can't stop eating it and talking about it. It's really that good. He says it's all in the sauce. Very cute shop that offers a variety of gimbap flavors! The interior is small but there are plenty of seating. I opted for the combination gimbap that consisted of spam, egg bulgogi, and pork. Came here for a lunch meet with friend, it's located in a small plaza and doesn't have much going on, so parking doesn't seem to be an issue. Upon arrival, there were a lot of items laid out on counter including different flavors gimbal you can buy for to go, as well as the menu above you can order from. But one thing I did notice about the setup was abit difficult to maneuver, I was reading the menu on what to order and people kept on coming in front of me and moving around to look at the items to pick up, the space is only about one aisle width and you have both people waiting to dine in and looking at merchandise, frankly I don't think this is a good setup, it's quite uncomfortable. So between us we ordered 3 different gimbap (egg roll, bulgogi, spicy tuna) and a spicy chewy noodle to share. Just honestly a personal opinion that none of the gimbap stood out to me... I love gimbap and occasionally will pick up a box during Korean grocery shopping, the taste is great and the price is much lower than here. If this is a specially gimbap place with the high price tag I was expecting it to taste unique and much better than the grocery ones, well, frankly I was just disappointed. It wasn't anything different or unique, and with that price and the setup here I would not come back for the gimbap. Also, one thing we didn't realize, was we could order the gimbap freshly made if it's for dine in. Many people didn't know, and we didn't either, so we just picked up whatever is on the counter by the aisle. I would say out of all the people we saw seating down, most of them ate out of the to go box, and we only saw one or two tables with freshly made gimbap that's when we realize we didn't have to pick up the existing ones we could order them fresh. I wish we had known this! As for the spicy chewy noodle, it wasn't anything different flavor actually was tasteful but it is as what the name said, it's definitely on the spicier side of the cold noodle. read more

So I saw this place on IG, decided to give it a go. The place is small but cute and clean. I got 2 different types of kimbap, spicy anchovies and spicy fish cakes. Also got an order of the kal Guk soo or knife cut noodles. Kimbap was good, can't go wrong although it's not the best around. The noodles were interesting. The soup was fine but the vegetables inside seems to have been thrown in with no care for presentation. I'll explain, the squash pieces were from very large to very small, no consistency and oddly it came with potatoes of various sizes. I've never had potatoes in this type of noodle soup before. The kimchee they brought out with the soup was terrible. The fried dumplings were good according to my friend who ate with us. All in all... I'd go back for kimbap if I'm in the area. read more

Finally a location in Orange County. Don't have to go into ktown anymore. I prefer driving all the way to OC for food. My friend and I decided on Baro Gimbap for a little snack before our dinner. A little snack.....We ended up eating up all the gimbap we ordered. I also ordered a side of odeng, it hit the spot. Warm soup and fish cake is the best combo on a rainy day. Gimbap was made to order, it was so fresh, you can taste all the fresh ingredients in each roll. The bulgogi one has this smoky flavor which I really enjoy, reminds of Korean BBQ. Baro has an establishment in LA therefore really excited about it coming to OC. The team there is the sweetest and you can dine and eat. Interior is clean and modern with a quiet cozy feel. Really great diverse menu of premade kimbaps and banchans as well as hot food menu items you can order. Honestly, I go back over and over again for the spicy oyster soup since so few places serve it. Kimbap was really good...Odeng (fish cake) and O-jingoh (spicy squid) were very good. Very fresh. Great ratios. I wish tey gave extra takkwang (yellow pickled radish), but not a huge deal. Place if very clean. The lady who helped us (maybe the owner) was very friendly. We were there before 9am so kitchen wasn't quite open/going yet so we will need to come back to get the other dishes. I'm so happy we have a location here in Fullerton! The original location is in LA so I'm happy I don't have to drive over there for great kimbap anymore. The owner is very sweet and the food is excellent. I came with my husband and we ordered 6 pcs of fried seaweed rolls, 6 pcs of fried shrimp, 3 pcs of fried stuffed peppers, and 6 yubus. The yubus we got were beef bulgogi, spicy pork bulgogi, tuna mayo, egg mayo, squid slice, and spicy anchovy. Everything was made fresh and brought to our table. We also grabbed a box of egg kimbap from the self service area to eat while we waited (sorry there's no photo because we were hungry and forgot lol). We can't wait to come back and try other things on their menu like their noodles and soups. A note about the space itself: the interior design is very Japandi with all the white and natural wood tones, it's quite aesthetic. However, the seats are a little snug. They're booth style and the tabletop is secured so you can't adjust the width. I'm a plus size woman so just keep that in mind if you're also plus sized or taller. read more
