    Tamale with corn tortilla.

Est. 1961- I'm spending some time, revisiting spots that I first experienced during the covid shutdowns. Most of these were places where in-door dining was not allowed. Barragan's is one such place. I enjoyed the food here, and the patio dining was as good as it was going to be in November of 2020. Now I'm back to sit inside, and to see if it is just as good as I remembered. To start, the salsa is still good and spicy. The Mexican Split Pea soup is still tasty, and the main dishes are still large and hearty. The food is solid. We had the #1 combination (Beef Taco & Cheese Enchilada) $24.95, and the #3 (Beef Taco, Cheese Enchilada & Tamale) $27.95. Everything was good. Not the best Mexican food I've had but still solid. A two plate lunch with a cup of soup and no alcohol was $64, with tax (before tip). They are definitely more expensive then I remember, more so than similar places. Nevertheless, The dining room is comfortable and there is a nice vibe inside. The bar is cozy and this looks like a good spot to watch a game. I don't know if they have a happy hour but regardless, Barragan's is still A-OK!

Besides the great margaritas (I'm picky) & great service; Ordered the large chicken soup to go! Did you see my pics?! They made it fresh for me on a slow night! Came with lemons onions chips tortillas etc! Unbelievable!

Had the honor of being invited to an event that was hosted here and was super excited to finally try this place. This family-owned restaurant has been around for many decades and I can see why. The ambience, the service and the food were all so great! We sat on the patio which was perfect for a warm evening, shared some appetizers that were all so delicious, and had a couple of margaritas that were made just right. Bonus tip: there's live music on Wednesday nights and a great happy hour menu, and was also told there's also a DJ (or other live music) on Thursdays or Fridays. But whichever day or night you choose to come you'll be sure to have a great time and authentic food. Happy eating!

Totally love the Happy Hour menu! Such a bargain for a lot of food. Love the Five tacos and the taquitos! Only problem is this menu is only available Monday through Friday, no weekends. I love the wait staff! They are efficient , helpful and sipper pleasant. Love their humor! Love when they sing Happy Birthday! Enjoy eating In the patio with the heaters. I'll be back and will bring friends!

Barragans has an extensive menu to please mostly everyone. A fast and effective crew to take care of everyone inside. Prices can be considered to be moderate to high. Most plates are around $19-$30. For starters chips and salsa are brought out. Caldos are hot and packed with flavor. The albondigas soup was very generous with the number of meatballs. It was served with beans and rice and tortillas. The chicken enchillada were also good. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking.

Barragan's hits all the marks for a good time at a Mexican Restaurant. Great food, vibey atmosphere, and amazing service! Shout out to Freddy for being an amazing server and so attentive! If you want great tasting Mexican food and a fun environment, Barragan's is the place to come to!

Carne Asada tacos with all the fixings! That salsa fresca was on point.

Awesome service & food! Adrian the bartender was amazing. They have $5 bloody Marys on the weekend, too. I got 2 carne asada tacos. The meat was cooked perfectly and the tacos were huge. The Salsa fresca was on point. Soccer & baseball on the TVs in the bar area and a beautiful patio outside on the nice weather days. Great restaurant & staff!

Albondigas soup, rice, beans, tortillas, onions cilantro lemons and chips and salsa.

Albondigas soup. Very large bowl and it comes with a side plate of rice and beans lemons cilantro, onions with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. $10 special weekend price all day. Absolutely delicious with chips and salsa also. Plus our waiter 'Freddy' is the best! So fun and nice.

I wish I remembered the name of our waiter. He was fun, kind and entertaining. We sat outside and it was cold for a Monday mid afternoon. Music was playing and my little niece started dancing. The crew was cheering her on, it was the cutest. Thanks to everyone who made her day. Food wws great, taco Monday was good. We also ordered from bar/happy hour menu. Regular entrees seem to be pricey. Margaritas also great!

Cheese enchilada with red sauce and two fried eggs on top.I couldn't wait to eat otherwise, it would have been a more beautiful picture

Updating my review to 5 STARS! Had the very most delicious meal at Barragans today. My order was cheese and onion enchilada w-country, red chile on top with 2 fried eggs. My BF had the Cocido. Absolutely wonderful, my new go to breakfast. Not to mention taco Monday's which we enjoy at least twice a month. The very best part of our experience here, is ALWAYS the warm, attentive, wonderful service. Love you guys !

2 crunchy chicken tacos (with guacamole, costs a little extra) and a strawberry margarita.

Taco Mondays with crunchy tacos less than $2 a piece! The margaritas are delish, too! The every Monday 'Soup Of The Day' is split pea (more so a YUMMY veggie soup)...I always take a quart home with me! I highly recommend Barragan's, on Victory Blvd in Burbank. Did I forget to mention it's family owned and the staff are really nice??

I had passed by this restaurant before but had never been curious enough to actually stop in. This time their drink menu advertised outside caught my attention so I figured "hey, why not?" From the moment I walked in i was trying to figure out whether I liked the atmosphere or not. The music was excellent, but the décor took me a second to process. It felt like an 80s lounge crashed into a neon Día de los Muertos inspired art gallery. It's most definitely not a quiet, cozy restaurant. It has more of a loud, colorful, party style personality. I was seated promptly by a kind hostess but I wasn't attended to by a waiter for nearly 10 minutes. Once my waiter did come by he was kind, quick, and professional. Now, I'm going to be honest.. I'm pretty picky when it comes to Mexican restaurant food, so I didn't have the highest expectations. I ordered the potato taquitos, a Jarrito Loco made with watermelon purée, vodka instead of tequila, and chamoy on the rim, plus chiles toreados and one carne asada taco. Laugh all you want, but I was half expecting the food to come out looking like a cafeteria lady had splattered it onto a plate... I was genuinely impressed by the presentation instead. The potato "taquitos" were bigger than I expected so don't let the "itos" fool you. They were crispy, flavorful, filling, and honestly so delicious. Those get a 5/5 from me. My drink was also incredible. It was refreshing, especially with how hot the day was, and had just the right amount of alcohol. The presentation was so cute I almost felt bad ruining it. Easily one of the best drinks I've had in the Burbank area -- 5/5. The carne asada taco wasn't as impressive as the potato taquitos, so I'd give that a 3/5. The chile toreado was definitely spicy, it just needed to be salted a little more but otherwise no complaints! I need to remind myself not to be too quick to judge because I was genuinely surprised by this place. The décor wasn't fully my personal style, but the food and drinks more than made up for it. I'd definitely come back again, especially for the potato taquitos and drinks.

Chips were warm and hot out of the fryer. Salsa is on hot side, not mild. Both free refill and we had to stop ourselves after refill because we haven't gotten to the food yet. Ok for the food - Meatballs in soup had lots of cumin, I liked it but if you hate cumin then skip it. - Strong margarita drink that my gf got drunk off of one lol they sure load it up - Zarapes, one chicken one beef. beef was really good. - Lobster Enchiladas: ok i have a lot to say about this one, it was different, but not in a bad way. The garlic rice and black bean side was really yummy, better than the sides on the zarapes. I ordered it because i needed something different and yes it was. Now there is one problem with this dish and its that they don't use real lobster, its a imitation crab/lobster meat like product shaped differently and made from fish and nowhere on the menu says that which is not ethical business practice. That said it didn't taste bad but its not real. Overall I would comeback, overall the food was good but not groundbreaking. The Mixed alcohol drinks is definitely get your moneys worth and is better than the other place across the street. Steak is good for the fajita like dishes, Seafood dish tastes good but not real lobster chunks, i would probably try the regular fish next time.

I had the carne asada plate with a chicken enchilada, and also tried the lobster enchiladas plate. The carne asada was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, and the chicken enchilada tied it all together. But the lobster enchiladas honestly surprised me--in the best way. Really rich, well-balanced, and just different from what you usually find. You can tell they put care into the food here. Safe to say, this is officially my new go-to spot in Burbank. But unfortunately, they were really unfriendly & understaffed and the waiter/bartender was extremely bothered we were there and seemed very overwhelmed. I don't know who Celia is but maybe get more staff in the kitchen and a hostess and more waitress/waiters. We went in Saturday Valentines night dinner right before 6pm and found parking to be easy and should have taken that as a sign but figured we get better service. NOPE! The parking not is just really small and the people sitting had ordered and committed to staying I guess. Keep reading and you'll get my drift! Honestly, We assumed it would be a great night romantic dinner. Then, we walked in and felt so neglected. No hostess to greet or seat you. The bus man or waiter said wait here and cleaned a table when 3 were available. It looks like the three employees were doing everything and at the same time doing nothing! It was comical at first. He sat us finally and then we ordered. Appetizers and a Molcajete and two nonalcoholic drinks. By now 32mins passed. No chips & salsa. No nothing... we should have just left. But we were lazy to leave elsewhere with no reservations on Valentine day. He brought me a drink from the bar like if I ordered it, I hate to say he might have memory issues. Then he noticed we still don't have our drinks and he had to ask again what I ordered. Now 50mins passed and at another 15 mins the main course came before the appetizers were served so I cancelled it. It just seems like they didn't care for anyone else but the people at the bar. Ppl were just walking in and ended up leaving or seating themselves. Majority left and they didn't even notice! Not welcoming at all and as for the food. I feel like everything was previously frozen as the chicken and meat was very chewy-leather like. The cheese was cold. And just grateful that we didn't get sick because it wasn't cooked all the way. When I go into a restaurant, I expect good service and quality food. I unfortunately won't be returning. Such a shame because this place has western character straight out of a saloon and can't speak for the drinks as we didn't even eat our entire meal and wanted to get the hell out. Do better because this could be a cute hangout spot!
