Joanne! This woman goes above and beyond and you won't be disappointed! Wow, did we win the jackpot when we stumbled upon this incredible place! There is some outdoor seating but definitely wander inside. Browse the decor, souvenirs and custom made jewelry. Plenty of seating; choose between high tops, the bar or comfy couches where you can truly decompress and enjoy your visit. All of the staff sincerely treat you like family. The vibe is unparalleled in the best way possible. Excellent selection of beer, seltzers and wine. Thereafter, Chef Jesse is an exceptional star here. The menu is small but so very delicious! We devoured our chicken/brie sandwiches and boneless wings. He was also a sweetheart to bring a cheese snack for our pup. Super dog friendly; they're allowed inside the establishment!! We actually went twice during our trip to Big Bear since we enjoyed ourselves so much. We also lucked into Bingo night and it's a blast. Lots of laughter, fun and prizes you want to win. Wish we could stay for their next "paint n sip" event. Highly recommend visiting or Door Dashing for yummy food!

The establishment was clean and the staff was friendly and quick. The ambient quality was excellent. The menu is small but good. Don't recommend if you are looking for a large variety of options. The items weee hot and fresh, we really enjoyed the cheese on the sandwiches. Also had the gigantic pretzel it was hot and fluffy. Price point was high in my opinion, but the experience was good.

Fantastic wine bar with a nice selection of beer. We came for a light dinner with our three dogs and had our choice of seating both inside and on their back patio. Fantastic selection of California wines that you can buy by the glass or as a whole bottle to take home. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about their food and drinks. Very relaxed but nice atmosphere. Highly recommend for a lighter meal or for a couple of drinks and snacks. The food is decent, but nothing special. We got the cauliflower, giant pretzel, sweet potato fries, and a mushroom flatbread and bbq chicken flatbread. The pretzel and sweet potato fries were heavily salted and we removed a bit which helped improve them. Mushroom flatbread was the best item for the meal. What a beautiful and cozy bar in downtown Big Bear! The vibes and atmosphere were super chill and relaxing. I really enjoyed the delicious Sangria wine tasting. My favorite was the Tinto Red Sangria. We also enjoyed the Pasmosa blanco sangria and the Rosado white. The staff was incredibly attentive and very friendly. After our tasting our bartender gave us a sample of the imported Gluhwein from Germany which was amazing! Thank you! Looking forward to come back on our next trip to Big Bear.

Popped in on a Saturday night for a quick bite and this was such a cute spot! We're from out of town but it feels like a place where everyone knows everyone else and feels really welcoming. Were were greeted with a big smile and super friendly service as soon as we walked in, and as someone who takes a minute to decide what I want, didn't feel rushed to order at all. Huckleberry seltzer was lightly carbonated slightly tart, the perfect amount of just sweet enough without being too much, and so good. Charcuterie had a good mix of cheeses, two meats, mixed nuts and peppers, and the salt on the sweet potato fries was stellar. I'd definitely recommend if you're in town and looking for a place with great vibes!

Vegas locals escaping the heat! We had such an amazing time with Joanne. She was so knowledgeable and kind. Our 5 year anniversary trip couldn't be spent any other way! Her art class was absolutely phenomenal and we had a blast! We recommend Barrel 33 for atmosphere, food, and drinks.

My husband and I stopped in at Barrel 33 on a Wednesday evening to enjoy some wine on the patio. I was interested in trying some of the local High Altitude wines as well as various wines from around CA. When we entered, there were a few patrons in the main tasting room. We were greeted, given menus and decided to walk to the patio. We were with our dog, and noted that the entire area, inside and out was dog friendly which was very nice. There were also some other very friendly dogs there. On the way to the patio, we walked through the bottle shop, which had tons of interesting bottles, and lots of cute souvenir items. We had the entire patio to ourselves. We studied the menu to find that they had so many interesting wines from around CA that are pretty hard to find outside of the specific wineries. For our first round, we both had whites (Viognier and Pinot Grigio) from Sculptera, one of our favorite Paso Robles wineries. For the second round, I tasted some of the High Altitude reds. The server was nice about letting me taste a few different wines before deciding on my next glass. I really enjoyed the Tempranillo. Service was great. They turned the music on in back just for us. I will say that the food was good, but not great. It is definitely nice to have a light menu, as we were pretty hungry. We had the cauliflower bites and the BBQ chicken flatbread. We enjoyed them, but I wouldn't make a trip to Barrel 33 for the food. I would come for the wine and atmosphere.

Super cute place to come with friends! There's drinks for her and him, with food options! Staff was very nice and the place is super cute. They even have a wine patio in the back. They also have seating inside and the couches are very comfy. I would definitely come by again.

What a beautiful place. The ambience and the atmosphere is all very high-end and rustic. Some beautiful items for sale like quality candles, shirts, some humorous sayings on their beer cans, rustic jewelry, Huckleberry jelly, etc. Bill took great care of us. I had a flight of wine and let him choose my tastings and they were lovely. He even treated me to an extra tasting because I wasn't sure I'd like the one with less tannins's. Very knowledgeable. And also a lot of wine for sale. Then we ordered the cauliflower bites with the buffalo sauce and it was cooked perfectly. Nice thin coating of batter and they baked it so it was nice and crunchy and healthier than the fried version. Some fun seating so you can look out the window and enjoy some people watching. Nice large outdoor patio as well. Joanne was very helpful and kind as well. Highly recommend!

Cheers to Dan, she was amazing!! She took such great care of us from the minute we walked in. Her warm personality and knowledge of wine was beyond!! Her and I could have chatted for hours about wine and being Texas girls. She picked an impeccable flight for me solely by asking what I do t like, plus it helped we have very similar taste. In March, our party of six encountered terrible service. We requested a group reservation for later in the afternoon only to be rudely turned away by a server/host who made prejudiced remarks towards our Hispanic/Asian group. It was our 1st time into this place. We ordered the baked brie with fig jam and crackers. It was delicious and I had a peltzer chardonnay from temecula ca!! And a glass of the barbera also from temecula winery. So happy they made their way out there. Bartender was our waiter too. And he was pretty quick and nice too. Picture this, a small staycation hidden in the mountains, fresh air, gorgeous mountain life, tranquil and serene, hidden high on the mountain, a Family owned wine bar. What can be better than sipping fine wine , tasting great beer and relaxing in piece on the outdoor patios as music plays in the background. At Barrel 33 you get just that. It's always an amazing experience and I feel at home anytime I'm here. I'm almost sad to say I was a little torn to find out one of our favorite people, Allie would be leaving to other opportunities. She always welcomed and greeted us like family each month we visited, and knew our personal preferences when it came to our taste in beers, wine and food. She even got me to try a jalapeño beer they had in one time and as crazy as it was, it was delicious and I was hooked. Although we developed a personal bond with Allie, the excellent customer service did not end with just her. Everyone who works for this wine bar has some of the best house warming hospitality and customer service I have ever encountered. Barrel 33 is truly unique and in a category of its own. I'm happy they brought back Paint n Sip which is a ticketed event and a perfect option for couples and large parties to enjoy such as Bachelorette parties. On the weekend you can be serenaded to the sounds of live music and other fun activities they may have to offer. Not only are they just a wine bar, but if you love the barrel furniture they can craft a piece for you!? Can you say score! You can bring home the happy vibes you have here back to your own escape and never feel like you left them. One of my favorite drinks to get here is their wine slushie. A combination of wines blended to perfection. Refreshing on hot days and addicting enough to sip in the cold snow. Anytime we visit I'll always end my day with these adult slushies. The giant pretzel definitely pairs well with any of your sips and adds to a relaxing time. Although I haven't brought my dog to visit here I do love that they also have pet friendly patios so you don't have to worry about leaving your fur baby behind. They are very ada friendly and welcoming for guest of all abilities. This is one place I actually don't come in my wheelchair because everything is comfortable for me to enjoy and spacious enough for me to walk for short periods of time. They do have high top barrels, and a bar top but if your like me they also have regular seating as well. If you ever venture up the mountain to big bear I urge tou to visit small businesses and support Barrel 33. Alayna and her beautiful family have created a perfect space to gather in the mountains and appreciate the finer things in life and I'm happy to have dedicated 3 of their 5 years of being open as a customer. read more

Getting there: Located in the heart of Big Bear Village, directions from the 10 fwy are to take exit 85 for CA-38 E and then continue onto Big Bear Blvd until you reach the location on your left. There is only street parking available in this area so you'll have to drive around and see what you can find. Experience: Barrel 33 is a hidden gem in Big Bear Lake that my friends and I stumbled upon by chance one day. The place had a charming atmosphere with wooden furniture and vintage decor that added to the cozy vibe. We were surprised by the extensive wine selection and knowledgeable staff that helped us choose the perfect bottle. We didn't stay for food this time, but we have that on our to do list for our next trip. The staff was friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. I highly recommend this place for a casual evening out with friends or a romantic date night. read more

We visited this cute little wine shop in The Village while staying in Big Bear Lake last week. They have an impressive selection of quality wines. We did a tasting of four red wines, including a Pinot Noir, a red blend, a Zinfandel, and a Mourvèdre, which were quite good, and we ended up purchasing a bottle of Zinfandel. Joanne was very friendly and knowledgeable about wine, and we really enjoyed our visit with her. If you are a wine lover, we would totally recommend that you visit this unique shop the next time you are in Big Bear Lake. read more

Cute little wine bar right in the heart of Big Bear. It was a chilly, snowy day, so stopped in for a glass of their warm Gluhwein, a warm, spiced Wine, made with German wine, Zinfandel and mulling spices. It was really good, not too sweet, and warmed us from the inside out. Talked with the owner, Alayna, and Tricia, who were both very friendly, and showed us the wines they make from Paso Robles grapes. They have tastings, 5 pours for $20, or $25 for 6, and you keep the glass. They also have a retail side with wines from small wineries, and gifts and other items. Comfortable seating inside and out. We had a wonderful afternoon enjoying wine tasters. Great selection of reds and whites. The cheese and meat tray is a pass but the honey and brie toast is awesome!! Great severs, knowledgeable about wines and very friendly. We brought out dog and everyone loved her and they are definitely pet friendly. This super cute little wine bar is a must stop! They had 5 tastings for $30 and the pour was enough for us to share, super tasty wines. Walked around the village on a Sunday, and ran into this gem of a place! The service was immaculate, it is the cutest wine shop with all the necessities you need, and the people were just amazing. Karen and Bill were the coolest people to talk to!! Also a blonde, I didn't catch her name but she was helpful and so kind. These people know their stuff, fantastic hospitality. Established in 2017.

It all started with 6 wine barrels and a stand at the Farmer’s Market, and now, we’ve proudly been a Big Bear Lake staple since 2017, and are now a staple in Sandpoint, ID since 2022! We attribute our growth to our collaboration with other small and family-owned businesses. From local wineries, retail, and food items, we try to get our products from friends from the community and think that not only brings in the best products, but connects us with the best people. We love building relationships with our customers and vendors, and can proudly say we often have the best employees in town. Stop by and say hello! Valet parking is available for $10. WINE & FOOD: Vanessa poured for us and was an excellent host and wine educator. She greeted us with a complimentary pour of their 2024 Walt Rosé of Pinot Noir before delving into our wine background, experience, and explaining the various flights. She took the time to get to know us and made excellent recommendations. My wife and I shared the L'Amour de Blancs flight ($29), the Elegant Expressions flight ($59), and the Taste of Terroir flight ($99). Each flight consisted of three generous pours, and as we went through, Vanessa even poured a few extra Pinot Noirs she knew we'd enjoy. The wines are extremely well-made and quite elegant, offering a good balance of acidity, tannins, and flavors. Along with the wines, we also tried several items off their Savory Bites menu: Marinated Olives & Nuts ($10), Soppressata Croquettes ($15), Wild Mushroom Pâté & Black Truffle ($18), and the Duck Confit Crostini ($18). We tasted four of their latest releases, including a revisit of our favorite pour. We tried the '23 Grenache Rosé, '23 Pinot Noir, '20 El Capitan red blend (47% Cab Sauv, 30% Mourvèdre, & 23% Syrah), and a '20 Petite Sirah. They age their red wines for 1-2 years in neutral oak barrels, and I would describe their reds as medium bodied and very smooth. Bottles were running in the $37 - $59 range (before 20% club member discounts). As usual, we took home a couple bottles of our favorites. Rose petals leading out to the lit up gazebo with stunning mountains in the background I found my boyfriend on one knee. After an instant "YES - PUT THE RING ON" I found our friends and hosts filming the whole thing for our forever memories. As if it couldn't get any better - Cheryl prepared a beautiful homemade dinner for us to enjoy. And Finally we ended the night with Top Gun and dessert in the movie theater. We've been coming to Barrel 33 every time we visit Big Bear for about 7 years now, and I can't believe it's taken me this long to leave a review! This place just keeps getting better every single year. Every time we come back, they've added something new, remodeled part of the space, or made it even more inviting. You can tell they really care about creating a great experience and making the most of their space. The customer service is always amazing. Everyone is so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely happy to see you. It feels like one of those places you're excited to come back to year after year. A special shout-out to Trisha, the GM. She is so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. You can tell she's doing great things for this place. Her positive attitude and attention to customers really make a difference, and I truly think she's a big part of why Barrel 33 keeps getting better. The wine is delicious, and while they originally had a smaller food menu (which made sense since they're a wine bar), they've expanded it over the years and now have even more great options. Everything we've tried has been so good! They also have beer, tasty bites, and a cute little shop that's always fun to browse. Barrel 33 has become one of our favorite Big Bear traditions. The vibe is always warm and welcoming, and the service is absolutely impeccable--thanks to Joann, who goes above and beyond every single time. She's truly amazing and makes the entire experience unforgettable. The food? Incredible. It's fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully curated--even vegan-friendly, which I really appreciate. And if you love wine, you'll be in heaven. They have an impressive selection of California wines that pair perfectly with everything on the menu. Barrel 33 is a must-visit. Where do I begin?! My large group and I stumbled upon this place, only looking for shelter from the Big Bear storm last weekend. But we left with an experience we will never forget. We all shared some gorgeous wine and charcuterie, and oh boy, did we laugh! Our server (turned BFF), Joanna, gave us an unforgettably personal experience. She touched each and every one of our hearts. We also purchased some of her jewelry, which I will pass down to my kin. Beautiful wine and beautiful people. The service was unsatisfactory. I ordered a glass of wine during my flight, but it appeared to have been opened for an extended period and tasted off. Upon requesting a replacement due to the poor quality, the person in charge, presumably the manager, responded with displeasure and instructed me to wait at the end of the queue. Additionally, the service was notably slow for other customers as well; it took the cashier an astounding 30 minutes to process the drink orders for six other patrons ahead of me, who also voiced their frustrations. read more

We were in Big Bear for a Bachelorette weekend. We came into Barrel 33 to have some some wine and do some flights. Allie and Rachael were very attentive to our needs. Both of them offered excellent customer service to everyone in our group. Very cute wine bar that offers an intimate experience. The wine was absolutely fabulous. Stopped in here after hiking Castle Rock with my husband. Rachel instantly welcomed us and our two pups the moment we walked in. I had a wine tasting and my husband chose the beer flight. She took the time to describe each of the wines I was tasting so I had a very fun but also knowledge of the wines. I purchased two bottles to take home with us from her recommendation. We love Barrel 33 in the village.! It's our go-to place when we visit Big Bear. Each time we go, we have a great experience. The staff is great and we appreciate the boutique wine and beer than you can't just get anywhere. Their outside seating is spacious, yet cozy. Highly Recommend. read more

Such great hosts! Our service, even with two kids 9 and 7, was fantastic. And then there's the wine.......deliciousness. We did the 6 tastes (generous I might add) for ONLY $25, and we got to keep the glass! Great spot in the village! read more
