I had plans on ordering something else, however, when I saw and smelled someone else's order being served, I quickly changed my mind I'm so glad I did it was delicious just perfect!! My hubby ordered a chicken sandwich that was just as good.. All of our food was very tasty and we really enjoyed it. Portions are generous so hopefully you're very hungry or be prepared to bring plenty home. I was only able to eat half of my food and brought the other half home and my sandwich seemed better the next day which isn't always the case when you bring things home!! Torn on how to score my review. If it was just based on quality of drinks, they would get a 5/5 from me. However, the poor service from behind the bar is what dropped down my score. Came in on a busy Saturday night after attending another event in the area. The bar was hopping and we snagged the last 2 available seats. At first, it appeared they had 4 bartenders, a manager, and a barback behind the bar. However, other than the barback consistently washing/unloading dishes I am not sure what was going on with the service. Manager was not providing any assistance to his staff. However, he was filling his own water bottle. Other staff were taking selfies with guests. It took awhile to order a second round as well as pay our tab. Stumbled in on a whim and immediately felt like we had been missing out on something. Romantic modern gothic is the only way I can describe it. Dark beadboard walls, copper ceiling tiles, round orb lighting, and upstairs a cavernous space with soaring ceilings anchored by a stunning skylight. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful dining rooms in the area. Date night approved. One gripe before we get to the good stuff: if you have pages and pages of creative cocktails and an extensive wine list, your two mocktail options deserve the same love. We don't drink and the options were fine but very sour and clearly an afterthought. Do better for the sober and sober curious crowd. Now the food. The burrata was creamy, rich, and gorgeous sitting in olive oil topped with chimichurri and grilled bread. Needed more balsamic to bring the acid balance home, but honestly still one of the better burratas I've had locally. The stuffed pork with gouda, chimichurri, and saffron potato wedges was a genuinely smart plate. The saffron wedges were a surprise standout, bringing a clean earthiness that cut through the richness beautifully. A touch heavy on the gouda and the whole dish woke up considerably with a little extra salt, but the bones of it are excellent. The churrasco hanger steak told the same story. Well cooked, flavorful, chimichurri doing its job. The curly fries were the one shrug of the night. Not bad, just boring next to everything else on offer. Mike our server closed the deal by steering us toward the caramel skillet cookie and honestly, bless him for it. Warm, salty, sweet, rich, topped with cold vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. It is everything a skillet cookie should be and we scraped the pan. We are already planning the return visit and bringing friends. We had the brussel sprouts for our appetizer and they were so good. I had the stuffed pork chop and have never had a better pork chop-amazing! My husband had the Barrel Carbonara and he said it was so good he'd order it again (&again). Dessert was the Sticky Toffee Pudding-wow!!! Mike was our waiter and he didn't miss a beat. We have been coming to Barrel and Vine for about a year now on a regular basis. From the moment we walk in the door we are welcomed with a smile and a recognition of being "regulars". The food is absolutely delicious and as someone who is gluten free there are plenty of choices. Family favorites (not all gluten free) include calamari, perogis, octopus, burger, steak frites and the truffle fries. And the drinks are always made to perfection. Kylie and Steph are great in the bar, remembering what we like but we also haven't met an employee who wasn't personable. Finally what I appreciate about the service is it is always prompt but never rushed. Me and my wife recently stopped at Barrel & Vine for a late night adventure. We rarely go out to downtown Plainfield but this place was really great. We didn't book a reservation but we were able to get a seat without any issue. My friends that came here prior say that whenever they booked with the reservation they were able to get a seat upstairs. We weren't dining in, we were only staying for a few drinks but this place was really cozy and the waitress who took care of us throughout our time here was very friendly and social. Great selection of drinks to choose from and there's even non-alcoholic drinks and mocktails as well. It can be a bit pricey coming here as well as a bit tricky trying to find a parking spot but it's a great place to stop at! read more

Came here for a birthday brunch. My friend was able to make rsvp for 26 ppl (adults + kids) with no issues. The restaurant has an upstairs that is pretty big. Could probably hold a huge wedding or Shower party there. Love the decor and food was great. I think they have a coat check, but I'm not sure. The coats didn't stay well on the chairs. And can't hang your purse on the back either. I ended up putting my purse between my shoes. Had the mimosa flight and was able to try all of their flavored mimosas. They were pretty tart. But I like the strawberry lemon the most. Got the eggs Benedict with the smoked salmon. Came with a side of potatoes and peppers. Then ended with the sticky toffee pudding. They do not have a separate GF menu but the server indicated many items can be made GF. My friend I split the poppyseed quinoa salad and a veggie omelette with GF toast. The inside is absolutely beautiful. There's two floors. The first floor appears more casual, a great spot to grab a pre or post drink. The upstairs is where we were seated, in the massive dining room. Our server was on it, checking in often and made great conversation. I was most excited by the crispy calamari, mostly because it's gluten-free, and it's not often that I get to eat fried calamari. It was super good, lightly crisped, and chewy but not mushy. The short rib was slightly disappointing. The piece I received was mostly fat, but the pieces I could eat I enjoyed. The drinks were a hit as well. A family of eight coming into a restaurant on Father's Day (at 1 PM) can be a bit overwhelming but if the restaurant takes its tips, the family should have extraordinary service because the tip is guaranteed. We were all there at the same time and they sat us immediately. The tables are narrow so there's little room, and we sat under a blower but we didn't complain. I'm giving (1) star to our waiter who ran around like a chicken with its head cut off, having little patience for us for no reason. He was caught shaking his head in disgust and rolling his eyes at us for no apparent reason. I attributed to him having Tourette's syndrome. He gave us no grace as if the sight of us angered him. I can't pinpoint one thing that made him so visibly uncomfortable. We asked him how he was doing and if his day was going well, but even his response was rushed. He didn't care to communicate with us. He said he is new to the job and I say, he's not cut out for waiting on people. We took a poll at our table on a rating for the experience including food and it was 5.5 out of 10. So the remaining points are for the food. This place is great for dinner! We visited this place Saturday night without making reservations and didn't have to wait long at all. The atmosphere was good the food was awesome and drinks were ok. We ordered some steaks and my daughter ordered a burger. Our waitress asked if we're celebrating anything and we told her it was my birthday weekend so she said we would get one dessert on the house. Not many mocktails, the wait staff didn't know if the cheese was pastuerized - so, if you're pregnant, probably not the best place to go since you can't really have a majority of the appetizers or make a cheese board (which I was REALLY looking forward to). Manager came out to apologize. Not the worst thing to ever happen to me lol My husband got the 90 miles to Cuba sandwich. He said 90 days to Cuba since we are obsessed with 90 day fiance. We drove over an hour to meet people there for an occasion. I wish I could remember our server's name because she was energetic and sweet and didn't mind our large group. Her service was great, one drink order was wrong, could have been the bartender. I thought the prices were high for where we were. My husband and I had different meals and were not seated near each other. We both thought the food lacked flavor/seasoning. Mine was a short rib bolognese which should have been very rich. I don't recall what his was (jambalaya?) but he and another friend asked for hot sauce to give it some flavor.
