    Caramel Skillet Cookie
    Brenden B.

Stumbled in on a whim and immediately felt like we had been missing out on something. Romantic modern gothic is the only way I can describe it. Dark beadboard walls, copper ceiling tiles, round orb lighting, and upstairs a cavernous space with soaring ceilings anchored by a stunning skylight. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful dining rooms in the area. Date night approved. One gripe before we get to the good stuff: if you have pages and pages of creative cocktails and an extensive wine list, your two mocktail options deserve the same love. We don't drink and the options were fine but very sour and clearly an afterthought. Do better for the sober and sober curious crowd. Now the food. The burrata was creamy, rich, and gorgeous sitting in olive oil topped with chimichurri and grilled bread. Needed more balsamic to bring the acid balance home, but honestly still one of the better burratas I've had locally. The stuffed pork with gouda, chimichurri, and saffron potato wedges was a genuinely smart plate. The saffron wedges were a surprise standout, bringing a clean earthiness that cut through the richness beautifully. A touch heavy on the gouda and the whole dish woke up considerably with a little extra salt, but the bones of it are excellent. The churrasco hanger steak told the same story. Well cooked, flavorful, chimichurri doing its job. The curly fries were the one shrug of the night. Not bad, just boring next to everything else on offer. Mike our server closed the deal by steering us toward the caramel skillet cookie and honestly, bless him for it. Warm, salty, sweet, rich, topped with cold vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. It is everything a skillet cookie should be and we scraped the pan. We are already planning the return visit and bringing friends. Barrel & Vine is an unexpected dining experience that Plainfield is lucky to have.

Stuffed Pork Chop and Barrel Carbonara

We had the brussel sprouts for our appetizer and they were so good. I had the stuffed pork chop and have never had a better pork chop-amazing! My husband had the Barrel Carbonara and he said it was so good he'd order it again (&again). Dessert was the Sticky Toffee Pudding-wow!!! Mike was our waiter and he didn't miss a beat. Loved the atmosphere. We will definitely be back!!!!

The food was delicious, and the staff was welcoming and attentive. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The outdoor seating is a nice touch, and my drink was refreshing and perfect for summer. A great spot that I'd happily visit again.

This was our first time here and we really enjoyed it! Great food, service, and a really pretty place. We'll be back! Highly recommend the Greek salad, short ribs, sticky toffee pudding, and chocolate cherry old fashioned!

NYE dinner was a great choice. Delicious cocktails, champagne samples, and party hats that traveled with us all night... immaculate vibes. Our waitress was attentive with great energy, and I loved that multiple staff members chimed in to hype up the steak sandwich. The food was a 10/10: flavorful steak sandwich, perfectly crunchy fries, and a sauce that wasn't overpowering. The calamari was buttery smooth on the inside and light, crispy, and golden on the outside. An amazing experience overall.

Came here for a birthday brunch. My friend was able to make rsvp for 26 ppl (adults + kids) with no issues. The restaurant has an upstairs that is pretty big. Could probably hold a huge wedding or Shower party there. Love the decor and food was great. I think they have a coat check, but I'm not sure. The coats didn't stay well on the chairs. And can't hang your purse on the back either. I ended up putting my purse between my shoes. Had the mimosa flight and was able to try all of their flavored mimosas. They were pretty tart. But I like the strawberry lemon the most. Got the eggs Benedict with the smoked salmon. Came with a side of potatoes and peppers. Then ended with the sticky toffee pudding. Definitely recommend as it melts into your mouth. The waiters were really nice and was able to do split checks with no issues. There are street parking and a small parking lot not far from the restaurant. There were signs on the street that helped guide me to the parking lot.

Came here to celebrate my friends birthday. We had a large group and they had the table set up before we arrived. The service was fantastic. They do not have a separate GF menu but the server indicated many items can be made GF. My friend I split the poppyseed quinoa salad and a veggie omelette with GF toast. The server confirmed there is a separate toaster and the omelette would be made in a clean pan. The food was delicious. I also ordered the mimosa sampler. They have great flavors to try. Will definitely come back!

Our foursome enjoyed our early dinners here Saturday evening after making a reservation that late afternoon. Our window seating in the tower made for a near private and cozy experience. Our appetizers (those Brussels sprouts!) and dinners were delicious. Even the grilled strips of chicken on my salad were flavorful. Several staff stopped to ask how we were doing and all were friendly coming and going - just watch your step entering and exiting!!!

We recently discovered this place and have been here a few times already. It is spacious and has a nice comfortable atmosphere. Service has always been wonderful. Great spot for special occasions that's nice but not too fancy.

Amazing local restaurant in Downtown Plainfield with incredible service, a beautiful space, and quality drinks/food! If you remember Opera House, then you know how large this space is. The inside is absolutely beautiful. There's two floors. The first floor appears more casual, a great spot to grab a pre or post drink. The upstairs is where we were seated, in the massive dining room. Our server was on it, checking in often and made great conversation. I was most excited by the crispy calamari, mostly because it's gluten-free, and it's not often that I get to eat fried calamari. It was super good, lightly crisped, and chewy but not mushy. The short rib was slightly disappointing. The piece I received was mostly fat, but the pieces I could eat I enjoyed. The drinks were a hit as well. I can see this becoming a go to spot in the summer as well.

DOPPELBOCK 'N ROLL…read more This suburban brewery taps a solid, headbanging beer. I've always felt that a cold draft hits differently than a can or bottle. When the mood strikes me, I'll venture over to Garage Band Brewing on Des Plaines St in downtown Plainfield, next door to Station One Smokehouse (with whom they share a symbiotic relationship). Their brews have hard rock-inspired names, like 'Stout It Out Loud' (a play on the KISS song), 'Hop Shaped Box' (Alice in Chains), and 'Hybrid Th30ry' (a 30 IBU pale ale with a nod to Linkin Park). Last time here, I got 12oz of the 'Don't Harsh My Mellow' for $6. I dig the packaging wrap on their 16oz cans of Dizzy Up the Blonde; a Marilyn Monroe-esque lady sitting on a 55gal drum, suggestively tugging on her red high heel with one hand and holding a chalice of beer in the other. What's not to like there? They have a trio of pinball tables that get sporadically rotated out. Previously they had Foo Fighters and Star Wars, now they've got Stranger Things, JAWS, and a gorgeous Godzilla premium model at $1 per play. There's a digital jukebox too, if you wanna pick tunes for the venue. * TL;DR * I lack the time and expertise to brew my own beer, so I'm happy to leave it to the pros. Garage Band is a small operation with big dreams, and they already have a handful of solid brews in circulation. I check back every few months to see their new seasonal drafts, like a shandy in the summer and darker Oktoberfest-style beer in the fall. They're closed Mon-Tues. Beer and pinball are significant passions of mine, and since Garage Band has a nice selection of both, they get an easy 5*.

We were pleasantly surprised to find out apps were 25% off- which meant we had to try the pretzel. I think it may have been the biggest pretzel I've ever seen in my life. The outside was a melt-in-your-mouth fried texture with the inside being soft and doughy in the best way. Paired with any of the 3 dips, it made for the most delicious appetizer that essentially filled up our entire table itself. Special shoutout to the arse sauce & their honey mustard- sooo good. The table also tried the buffalo chicken wrap (YUM), caprese sandwich (good!), and penne alla vodka (somewhat mid but better as leftovers). Sweet potato tots were the perfect side. This was my third time here and they honestly never disappoint. Service & food always hit. My go to spot when visiting Plainfield!

Luckily, this visit was much better We arrived right after they opened on Saturday afternoon. The location was easy to find and there was a decent amount of parking. For lunch, we shared the 1.5lb pretzel which was more than enough for our group of 5 1/2 people. As for my burger, I got their Blue Cheeseburger. Overall, it was a decent burger. Good flavor, cooked a nice medium rare which I wanted. Our waitress was nice and friendly and the price was reasonable for 2 adults and 1 kid
