I'm far from impressed. They do not have any type of juice but pineapple juice on the menu and I ordered a power bowl with chicken cauliflower and broccoli and the chicken was undercooked and my friend ordered the judo bowl and the chicken was also undercooked and pink. There was gristle on the chicken too. We asked them to heat it up. They went back and they heated it up and it was still not cooked up to par. The coffee was OK they wouldn't give me one glass of sparkling water. I had to buy a bottle and our meal was about $160 and all we did is order two bowls, a bottle of sparkling water two coffees and a tiramisu for dessert. Unless you order pasta, this is just not a full-fledged dining experience that I would ever drop any more money on. read more

After having an exceptional experience at the Agoura location, I was very excited to hear that Basta was opening another location in Thousand Oaks. In my opinion, this is easily one of the absolute best Italian restaurants in Conejo Valley, which has quite a lot of competition in that particular cuisine. To eat, we ordered the Pappardelle, Tagliatelle, Caprese Pizza, Pizza Vodka Sauce, and a Brian Bowen Smith. The price point is pretty reasonable for the elevated quality. Each dish was delicious. If looking for top notch Italian food in the Thousand Oaks area, look no further. This place will not disappoint! read more

This is our favorite restaurant in Ventura county! Definitely one of the top places to eat, and better than many "main stream" steak houses. All of the pasta is phenomenal- you can't go wrong with anything on this menu. All of their cocktails are delicious as well. Some must orders: the steak florentine, rustic gem salad, Paccheri Piccanti Al la Vodka (spicy vodka cream sauce), the side of roasted potatoes, the Tiramisu for dessert, and also the butterscotch pudding. These are all some of the best dishes/steak we've EVER had. The service is great, but they don't take reservations so plan on getting there around 40 minutes+ before you want to eat to wait for a table. The ambiance is beautiful. It's not cheap but completely worth and actually more reasonably priced than many main stream ritzy chain restaurants and steak houses. Come dine at Basta instead! We went tonight and we didn't have to wait long to be seated and was we did we had an incredible experience. Mila was our outstanding server and I'm not sure she couldn't have given us better service. We started with the Fritto Misto Di Mare which was lightly coated and fried and was accompanied by a side of marinara sauce. My wife went with the short ribs and I had the Tagliatelle Al Ragu and we shared the Roasted Cauliflower. The flavors for each was fresh and flavorful. Going to do this Review a little Different then I normally do. Personally, when I dine out there are certain things that I look for! How well does the Employees work together as one to accommodate their customers. Service is key to all Success. The Cleanliness of the Establishment and most of all the food. So, as I entered into the Restaurant I was greeted right away and seated, there was no waiting, I was lucky. Immediately a employee came over with a Basket of Sourdough Bread and on the table was already the oil and Vinegar, An Italian Tradition. Great Start. I enclosed pictures of the different kinds of Dishes that I had the enjoyment of eating and I was in Heaven. My Favorite was the Pasta with Shrimp and Fresh Clams, such a Delicious Meal. People always ask me if I know any good Italian spots and..... I finally found one! First, the ambiance of Basta, inside and out is amazing. Such a perfect date night vibe or a good place to meet friends for dinner. Our server was so welcoming and friendly as he shared his recommendations on food and drinks..and he did not steer us wrong. We had the Summer in Sicily and Fresh Berry Whiskey Sour for drinks (10/10) and for our entrees we ordered the Tagliatelle Ragu and Cappelletti Romagnoli. If you get anything at all, you need to try the Cappelletti Romagnoli. It was the best dish I have had in a restaurant in such a long time. The flavor...just dance in your mouth. We are regulars at Basta in Agoura Hills. Love the food but was not happy when they took our favorite dish, cacio e pepe off the menu. It's one of the reasons we came so often. We asked one of the wait staff why they would remove a favorite and was told the owner added it to the Thousand Oaks menu so that people would go there. Well we finally went with a group of seven and there is just no comparison to the Agoura location. Outdoor seating was freezing and the loud EDM music was unbearable. Impossible to have a conversation. The wine pour was always generous at the Agoura location but in TO, it was a tiny pour, like ordering a shot glass of wine. Our waitress (I think her name was Mina or Mena) was wonderful but the location, the wine, the atmosphere - too many other great Italian restaurants now in the area like Made in Italy and this one is not even on the top five. read more

Just had dinner today with my husband and our friends, and we were blown away by the food, amazing service (by our wonderful server Mila!), and the outdoor ambiance. It was my first time here at Basta, and I will definitely be a repeat customer. Everyone was so professional, food came out quickly, and the outdoor seating area was so exquisite! Parking might be tricky but there is plenty of street parking (and there's a valet option) - so I'd recommend planning ahead of time. Dinner for four of us tonight at Basta was overall very good. The appetizers of ceviche and olives and gardenia were tasty , particularly the ceviche. Three of us had pasta as our entrees and one had the "fish special". The fish special was baked cod.... which unbeknownst to us, was priced at $58. We were more than a little surprised when we got our check. $58 for cod when a whole branzino and the grilled trout were each priced at $34 on the menu. Pastas Cavatelli alla Norcina perfect flavor 10/10 only a few pieces of sausage but the pasta was perfectly cooked. Chitarra Cacio e Pepe was 7/10 it didn't have much flavor then again that pasta is very basic in the sense of a few ingredients, the pasta noodles were excellent quality tho. Perfectly cooked. Steaks Tomahawk was flavored beautiful cooked, great flavor 10/10 sea salt was put on the side for preference. Tomahawk was based on the pounds. NY steak had salt/pepper olive oil delicious cooked perfectly 10/10 Pizza Basic kids cheese pizza sauce was good, cheese was cooked perfectly, wood oven cooked w a slight char Sides Broccolini was honestly amazing roasted w pine nuts, sauteed onions and tomatoe that was absolutely sweet and juicy. Specials Salad mozzarella, tomatoes and an onion type of compote. Toasted bread was charred perfectly. The fresh bread was delicious and freshly made. In all amazing experience. Came in today for the first time. Had been wanting to try it for a while, and I'm so glad I did. Our table got the wood fired mussels which were amazing. I could drink a gallon of that broth. We also got the grilled octopus salad, which again was amazing. The Tagliatelle al ragú was delicious. The carbonara was really good. One of my guests got the Basta calzone which she really enjoyed, I didn't try it. I also got a New York strip for myself which was amazing. Went here at 11:30 am on a Sunday but they were mopping the floors even though they were open at 11 am. We were the first one seated but surprisingly, instead of spreading us out, all the customers were seated on the left side of the resto - making the area crowded. Now the food: The seafood appetizer, pescatore bowl and tiramisu were good. The short ribs were just ok Now the service: There was only one waitress and she was so busy taking orders that we sometimes have to flag her down. Our main dish (bowl and short ribs) came 30 minutes after we finished our appetizers. It would be nice if they would tell us how much longer it will take for them to cook it...not "it's coming"....but never came on time Remember, we got there at 11:30 and one family came after us. The waitress took our order around at 12:05. Bread and appetizer came fast enough and The resto became busy around 12:30 pm We didn't leave until 1:30 pm. We had to ask a server where we can pay and finally the waitress came to take our payment. We shouldn't be flagging down a waitress in order to get service. Would I ever go back? Maybe.... read more

The vibe inside the restaurant was warm and inviting - our waiter was super friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout the meal. Now, onto the food! Firstly, they have pitchers of Arnold Palmer, my favorite non-alcoholic beverage, and they weren't stingy with it. We started with the cannellini bean hummus with roasted squash, spicy chili oil and focaccina. It was a very unique presentation and quite tasty. The pappardelle with meatballs. Oh my, those fluffy, pillowy noodles smothered in rich pomodoro sauce were true pasta perfection. The meatballs were excellent - bursting with flavor and perfectly tender. Seriously, this dish is comfort food elevated to an art form. The tagliatelle pasta with a meat ragú was amazing as well. Basta hit it out of the park with their delicious food, excellent service, and warm atmosphere. I'm really pleased to see this side of TO Blvd becoming more of a destination. Tarantula Hill is thriving and it appears there is even more business to be had. Basta certainly can fill the void and I think is going to do wonders for TO. Modern, rustic, and somewhat warm vibe, Basta was hopping on a Friday night. The staff was very attentive and helpful throughout our entire experience. We did have an interesting table setup for our group of 7. We were placed in 2 side-by-side booths that at first we were apprehensive about. But after the first round of drinks, everyone settled in just fine. The waiter indicated the freshly made pasta and the meat selections was Basta's hallmarks. With that bit of information I enjoyed the Cavatelli with truffle and sausage. The plate was passed around the table to be shared amongst all. Nothing but thumbs up. The complimentary bread was a great way to break up the richness of the truffle sauce. The group shared Hamachi crudo, pizza, and grilled artichokes. All were solid picks and worth a try. We were all envious of the calzone that went by our table so that will definitely be on our minds at our next visit. I was in search of an espresso martini but the waiter suggested pistachio martini. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the taste and texture of the drink. It is definitely something I'd order on my next visit. Thank you Basta for opening another location in TO.
