Weekend special crab shmear and pinky's egg salad. SOOO GOOD!!!!
    Monica-Leah A.

Finally checked this off my list to try and was not disappointed. We came during the weekend and got the crab shmear bagel and an egg salad bagel. AMAZING. NO NOTES. I can't wait to go back!!!

Since batches usually has a long line on farmer's market sundays, I have spent weeks balking at the wait time here. However, I was recently delighted to see a short line and jumped in to commit to a short wait to order. The menu contains so many awesome "combo" creations that it was hard to settle on one item. (which is why I plan to come back more than a few times in the future) I settled on the "Hat Batch", a simple scallion cream cheese and sriracha hot honey asiago bagel. I can honestly say that the bagel itself was one of the best I've had in the city. The salty, sweet, spicy combo on top of the bagel was pure perfection. I'm seriously excited for my next stop here- the "Ashleigh" and "For the Batches" look incredible!

Walking around the Richmond ( not the city) district in San Francisco there are plenty of places to grab bake goods. One place which doesn't have indoor seating but serves great bake goods is the Batches Bakehouse. They serve bagels with schmears like Blueberry, Garlic Roasted, Green Goddess , Scallion and Veggie. They have spreads like Cinnamon Honey Butter, Honey Drizzle , Nutella Hummus, Smashed Avocado , and Sriracha Hot Honey. Batches have bagels called " For the Batches" with avocado and arugula. On Weekends they offer the crabby bagel called "The Hey Bay-Bae "with crab cream cheese, tomato, olive oil, pepper, and chives. They also serve bake goods such as brownies, coffee cake, different types of cookies and scones. I got the sour cream and onion scone which was savory and one of the best scones with onion I ever had. The sour cream taste wasn't sour like some in SF. Then I got not too sweet monkey bread. The monkey bread was soft and tasty. If you are not getting croissants at Arsicault ( the best croissant in the city) and want a bagel and other unique types of bake goods you should walk a few blocks over on 4th Avenue between Clement and California and give Batches Bake goods a whirl. People by the batches waiting outside Batches for their order on 4th Avenue and they will be outside in the "zone" scrolling on their " phone" or listening to a vibe on their "headphone" and some are yapping and having yap sessions to each its "own". I recommend the Farm to Bagel and other items with ingredients which are organically "grown" with bakegoods are on the window menu to let it be "known "and on display and "shown" when it comes to some bake goods I don't share and I don't care so I get my "own " Batches Sour Cream and onion "scone "

Chanced on seeing a TGTG offer so selected 1 order. Great value, quality baked goods, and a generous selection of yummy scones. Cute window store front, and easy prompt filling of orders. Would highly recommend Batches Bakehouse.

The pumpkin bagel with pumpkin spiced cream cheese is really yummy! I wish they will have it for longer instead of only October and November. I also really like peppermint flavor if they do a peppermint flavor for Christmas. There is no seating but there is a bench at the corner of Clement to sit on.

I only had a plain bagel, which is the product I taste to compare bakeries. The appearance was overly large (5" diameter, 4.5 oz), with a slack exterior, and a bit misshapen. The crumb was OK...a little soft. The taste was very dull. There was little sweet and sour...which made me suspect they were not fermented enough (probably no overnight retard that most bagels go through), not enough liquid malt, not enough diastatic malt. I won't be returning.

"I don't have to go back to the Laundromat SF for a while." That was the first thought that came into my mind! The bagel was so good and I was so lucky to get to have The Pizza Bagel on the National Pizza Day last Friday!!! They actually should have that menu on the board forever!!! The service was great! Everytime I go there, I was always greeted with a very friendly manner by the staff at the register! No points taken out!!! They are very welcoming and smiley Thank you so much for making my day! I love how they have an information of all the ingredients for their pastries! Very clear and informative :) The ambience is good. It is located near So Fresh So Clean Laundromat. Great spot to have some food while waiting for your laundry :) There is no seating area although I think it would be very nice to have some seating area there for customers to enjoy the nice sun during this spring time but most of the customers just order, grab and go! So it worked out :) Very highly recommended!! :)

Saw this place after a show and decided to check this place out on pi day for $3.14 slices. Sadly I didn't get here until noon and they were all sold out! I got the following instead where the bagels are hand shaped, boiled and made fresh daily! * Hot Batch - Everything Bagel toasted in hot honey, topped with scallion cream cheese and another drizzle of hot honey $7 * Oatmeal Golden Raisin Cookie - Brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, and golden raisins give this traditional cookie a soul warming twist $4.50

Found this place while trying to park and saw a long line so I decided to check it out. Little did I know that Batches was going to become my new favorite bagel place. Their bagels are so fresh and their bodega combo is delicious. Their chocolate chip and confetti cookies are amazing. I would definitely try to go early in the morning to make sure you can get the bagel of your choice since they do sell out quickly by noon. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a quick bagel sandwich or coffee!

Wait, there's a bakery in San Francisco I haven't tried yet? I apologize for my laziness. Let me jump right on that. Batches is in a prime location and when you are in a prime location you are going to get at bats. Make sure you do something with those chances. I wouldn't say they hit a home run here but I think they got on base. Maybe a double. The cookie selection is how you would like it. Can't go wrong with these cookie options. You can have a Very legitimate cookie time here. Honey butter biscuit? Yes for sure. As good as any biscuit you can find. Ask for extra honey butter. The everything bagel with cream cheese spread is good. Just a warning this place takes an outrageously long time to make any of their bagels and they run out of a lot of stuff. I got a standard bagel with spread after about 15 minutes and it wasn't very busy. The bagel wasn't even that warm or toasty either. Makes me suspicious. Either way batches has a dog in the fight in this SF bakery game. It's not elite but in your neighborhood it's very reliable. (4.2 Stars)

The food here is amazing. These two bagels were about $28. I got the hey baby, which was crab, sage and tomatoes on the spread. My girlfriend got the breakfast, which was eggs and bacon and a bagel Service here is amazing. There's a farmers market here every Sunday. Solid bagel spot. For 5 bucks (after tax) you get a nicely toasted bagel with a decent amount of smear. Theres no outdoor seating so most people come here for a grab and go coffee. They also have some baked sweets and other fancier bagels on their menu. I came here on a Saturday morning so there were lots of people coming in to get coffee and goods to start their day with.

The bagels and home made creams are good. I would recommend straying from the toasted sesame bagel or any toasted seed bagels. They tend to always burn the seed bagels for some reason. The other bagels and spreads are delicious though and i love the salmon bagel. The cookies are also delicious. Its a window order so no insides but thats perfectly fine. The service is great and always kind.

Hot Batch bagel - scallion cream cheese and Sriracha hot honey. Good, not spicy.

I've been looking for a place in town that delivers the same type of meals I'd find in Katz's (nyc), and Wise Sons is good!!! The bread was on point, not soggy at all even though this particular sandwich comes with coleslaw inside (I loved the sweetness of the slaw with the Russian dressing). The corned beef was spectacular. And I also liked their potato salad very much. You can bet I'll be ordering again from this place.

Weirdly, I often have egg-salad sandwiches on my mind, even though I know they can be gross. I've had plenty of egg-salad disasters, sandwich and otherwise, and I'm normally a very gun-shy person, but if a place has egg salad on its menu, I'll probably order it. Wise Sons always has egg salad on its menu. The problem is that it didn't have any egg salad on hand the first two times I came here.* Whatever I had instead, both times (and I had something different each time) was delicious. I don't know why I haven't tried the latkes yet. I guess I'm not a very wise son. The place is old school and feels perfect inside. It won't transport you magically to the past like many killer authentic interiors will, but it's very easy to imagine what the inside of this store looked like in 1941 or whenever. There was never more than one other person dining in each time I came. Maybe it's because I came so late in the day? More people would make it feel like a convivial breakfast destination. Empty, it feels like a good place with good food. Yes, it's overpriced, especially with all the delicious food you can get for cheaper within a few doors of this business on 24th Street in the Mission. But Wise Sons. It's a thing, a thing I'm glad I got wise to. *Did they sell out? Just didn't bother to make it? Who orders egg salad in the 2020s, anyway?

My wife and I were meeting someone in San Francisco in the afternoon and we wanted to eat lunch beforehand. We were interested in trying Wise Sons Deli since we have heard so many people praising it. Since we were coming into the city via BART, this location was great. The ambiance is pretty basic; ordinary tables and chairs and only some photos on one wall. You order and pay at the counter and then someone will deliver the food to the table. If you want coffee or water it is serve-yourself. However, the food is fantastic! I ordered a House Special Pastrami Reuben that had a smaller Reuben sandwich, french fries, a side of cole slaw, and a drink ($19.50). While it had half as much meat as the regular Reuben, it was still a good size. They make their own Pastrami and Corned Beef and it tastes great. Overall, the experience and the food, sits about a 3.5 star experience. The people in the shop were nice, but not overly welcoming. The price point, quality versus quantity, etc., will make you question the cost factor, because this is not an inexpensive quick bite. Having said that, they have cure their lox. I ordered extra lox, because I've been told that the quantity wasn't there. I will say that I was glad that I ordered extra, because I think it made for a pretty tasty bite. The bagels are boiled, so there's that pillowy bounce. What I absolutely enjoyed about this big experience is that it's not basic. It's refined and elevated. Herb, lemon, lox is the way to go! Yes, spend the extra money and get the extra lox. Lemon aïoli, tomato, red onion, you can tell why this is just absolutely perfection! I enjoyed the bagel and it definitely is better than others that I've had in and around the general area. The ingredients/toppings are fresh, I just wish they were a little bit more generous on their own. The lox is pretty tasty, and I can tell you that I'm generally pretty picky, and this really stepped up to that plate. For those craving a little bit of sweetness after their meal, they do sell cookies, and I grabbed their marshmallow cookie. The cookie was pretty meh. I definitely would take a pass on the cookie. Service was the big hold back, but I will say that I will go back and try some of their other menu items.

Update to a Formerly Glowing Review…read more This is an update to what was once a glowing review of my beloved Pizzahacker. I've been going for many, many years (close to 10--or more?), so it pains me to say that some changes under new management have shifted the experience for me. Jeff Krupman, the founder and chef (who ended up being a friend!) sold the business to one of his longtime employees a year ago or more ago. (He still owns the Mill Valley location). While they tried to keep a lot of things the same h feel noticeably different. It's interesting that it still shows his name as manager. Here's what I've noticed--not in a good way: The menu now feels overwhelmingly meat-forward, with a dearth of thoughtfully designed vegetarian pizzas. I have mentioned this to Jesse (longtime staff) and a female server, asking them to pass this along. Each pizza also seems to have several more ounces of (still very delicious sourdough) dough. The crust is significantly thicker, and there's simply more of it. What once felt light and beautifully balanced now feels heavier. Vegetarian options are largely reduced to subtraction of meat . I've spoken with longtime waitstaff (including Jesse) and asked that this feedback be shared with Juan, the new owner. One server suggested I could just order a pizza without the meat. But a thoughtfully composed vegetarian pizza is very different from a meat pizza with ingredients removed--and at $24, paying full price for a pizza minus its main topping feels unfair. Perhaps there could be a cheaper option availabile for meaty pizzas without the meat. Please consider making The Summer Fave year round, bringing back the Inside Out, and/or creating more pizzas that don't center around multiple meats. Also, I know that the new management has changed some of the ingredients that made their pizzas so special and delicious. In particular, the sausage on the Yo Vinny, which used to be house made is now closer to the generic sausage you'd find at Pizza Hut. Loses so much of the experience to change to these cheaper ingredients. (I lean vegetarian as much as possible but make occasional exceptions, so I know this!) I used to go to Pizzahacker weekly and look forward to it with genuine excitement. Now, while I still enjoy the occasional pizza, that sense of anticipation is gone. I do want to say I'm grateful that my beloved Intermezzo salad remains unchanged--and I still care deeply about this place. I love PH--please consider the earnest pleas of a longtime customer who has eaten there many dozens of times.

I guess I should elaborate a little more for all y'all faithful Yelp readers. I tried a couple of different bagels at Noe Bagel. The sesame and everything bagels are both generously coated, with a beautiful outer crust that has just the right texture. The inside is soft and chewy. It's a classic New York-style bagel that will satisfy even your strongest bagel cravings. The mini bagels maintain that same excellence, just in a smaller form. Because of their size, the crust-to-center ratio gives you more of the micro-blistered snap that I love about bagels. Personally, I'd choose two or three minis over one regular bagel. The cream cheese is also excellent--well-balanced and smooth. My favorite is the blueberry cream cheese. It has just a hint of sweetness that brings out the richness and creaminess of the cheese. And, like many spots in San Francisco, they offer a sourdough bagel. It's quite different from their sourdough bread, but I enjoyed it. If you're visiting, I'd recommend giving it a try. For my everyday go-to, I'd stick with a classic sesame or plain bagel, but Noe Bagel has enough variety to keep things interesting if you want to switch it up regularly. As a bonus, they sell day-old bagels by the bag for $4. You can freeze them, eat them as-is, or repurpose them into bread pudding. You'll end up with an interesting dish thanks to all the different bagel varieties mixed together--but that's part of the fun!

If you're lucky enough to snag a pesto bagel before he sells out, it will change your life. My go to: pesto bagel with sun-dried tomato spread and sprouts. I have tried many bagel locations, even prefer this spot over boichik in the city. The owner is so kind and well worth supporting! Parking can be difficult around this area, but it's worth the 5 - 10 minute walk.
