My first time with Cajun food and this hole in the wall (literally) restaurant was the perfect start!!! I got the Catfish Poboy and my husband the Shrimp! It was large, had a ton of spices and flavor, and was just oh so good! We will definitely be back for the food and service - highly recommend to others! read more

I'm from New Orleans and also enjoy cooking Cajun food. My first impression : 4/5 stars Red Beans and Rice aka "Nawlins Caviar" : creamy red beans, minced pieces of sausage , over white rice - seasoning just right - Very Good Fried Cajun Seafood Platter Basket - 6 medium fried shrimp , 2 medium sized pieces of fried catfish filets, one piece of fried halibut filet with skin , and 1/4 lb crinkle cut French fries, and two hand made hush puppies. Breading ( seasoned cornmeal/flour ) on fish and shrimp. Seasoning flavor was good ; a little too much salt in breading for my taste buds - but taste is personal; served with different dipping sauces. Hush puppies - a little too dense/heavy for my taste ( prefer an equal mixture of corn meal: corn flour, a little sugar with Cajun seasoning , egg, and water. These hush puppies also had small bits of shrimp in the batter. Good Cajun Shrimp and Grits with butter garlic sauce- Creamy grits , great flavor especially with garlic butter sauce. Shrimp were nice size ( 6 ) and mildly seasoned - Very Good Battle's Kitchen food is much preferred over Bayou- on the Bay. Owners/cooks are from Louisiana and they are both familiar with Cajun cooking and seasoning. They will offer New Orleans Po-Boys once they receive their shipments of New Orleans French Bread. Thank you Yelp for helping me find this little gem! Great fried catfish! Three different dipping sauces and all were delicious. Generous portions on the Seafood Basket. Shrimp and Catfish and fries with a roll. $19 is more than fair. Friendly service too. It's tucked away without a very big sign but keep looking and you'll find it. My family and I found Battle's Kitchen while scrolling through yelp for a quick bite before our flight back home. We were ecstatic to find a seafood spot less than ten minutes away from the Bellevue Airport. The restaurant is located in an office building with a service window and outdoor seating. The owner, Ernest Battle, was running the window and was an absolute sweetheart! Ernest provided incredible customer service and was even kind enough to explain menu items to my family and I. The food was delicious! Everything was seasoned, boiled, and/or fried to perfection. The strawberry lemonade is a must! The portion sizes were more than generous and we now we have snacks for the ride home! read more

I give this new spot (new to me at least) 5 stars for a very positive experience at the order window, nice fresh greens on the salad, actual bacon in the bacon bits (and not that weird fake bacon but stuff), and tasty grilled shrimp with a very fair amount on the salad. It was a little pricey for a salad in this area but worth it for the quality of ingredients. It's worth checking out!!! We also tried the biscuits and found they had a nice flavor. Just a random stop for lunch because we were hungry and it was there. So glad we did. Had the Cajun Seafood Basket, Philly Cheesesteak Poboy and a baked potato. First time goer. Battles kitchen is a Louisiana cuisine kitchen. I had the shrimp Etoufee. It was delicious. My wife had the shrimp and crab macaroni. The dishes were amazing. The staff was great. You can tell they take pride in their cooking. It's more of a take out, but they have a few tables outside. I hope more people try it out and see what they are missing. OMG, Everyone has been talking about this place lately and I've never in my whole life had chicken and shrimp taste THIS GOOD. The breading go crazy, if only i got my hands on this breading recipe i'd be eating this every night. It's so flaky it melts in your mouth, Better than any restaurant chicken and shrimp. For only $15-$18 this is amazing, and you get so much. Fries and a dinner roll included in your meal. And to mention their cajun sauce is sooo good! they need to start selling it!! I'd love to use their sauce at home with fries or chicken. Their lemonade is a 10/10 so many flavors, and FRESH FRUIT!! Get the mango lemonade ! so soo good. The food is terrific, some of the best gumbo I've ever had along with the shrimp and grits. The food is spot on amazing southern cuisine that's worth every penny. Everything we've ordered from here has been so flavorful it makes you want to go back the very next day(I did). The guys here are some of the nicest dudes you'll ever meet and seem to really take pride in the food they putting out and the way they treat customers. Sometimes the wait can be a few minutes so if you're on a time crunch I would keep that in mind, but after you taste the food you'll see why it's 100% worth it. OMGOSH!! I heard about this Battle's Kitchen from a friend who was looking for fried catfish too. We decided to stop in spur of the moment to try it out and MAN! It was like a trip home to the South!! The owner is a New Orleans native and brings the flavors of the South to life through his food. We both ordered the Catfish & Shrimp baskets which came with crinkle fries and a roll. Peach lemonade & Blackberry were the drinks of choice. There is no indoor seating so everything is in To-Go containers BUT there are picnic tables there if you just can't wait to dig in to the deliciousness!! Fast forward...the smell of the food on the ride home brought back memories of being in the South and I was thinking, "Maybe we should have just grabbed a table there". LOL. The catfish was fried perfect and tender. Nothing like perfectly seasoned cornmeal dusted fried catfish The shrimp were just a tad bigger than popcorn and fried perfectly as well (no Tempura batter here). There was a remoulade sauce for dipping everything if you wanted. If you know, and I do know, what Southern catfish tastes like then GO and get you some be amazed; if you WANT to know, you NEED to GO and taste for yourself what true Southern cooking tastes like. Next up for me will be the Shrimp & Grits. These folks have brought their NOLA flavors to the PNW and you need to go and experience them for yourself! read more
