The restaurant is spacious with a very pleasant atmosphere and a fully stocked bar offering great adult beverage options. Parking can be a bit tight at the Shore Drive location, but once inside, Bay Local delivers. We visited for a company end ofyear celebration with a party of 10, and the service was excellent. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made great suggestions, which made ordering easy. The appetizers were a hit! Everyone loved the Bangin' Balls and the Poppin' Champagne Fried Shrimp. The cucumber salad that came with the shrimp was especially delicious. No complaints at the table. For entrees, the Chicken and Waffles did not disappoint perfectly crispy waffle, tender and flavorful chicken. The Just Right Shrimp and Grits was enjoyed, my coworker mentioned the onions and peppers could have been chopped finer. The Jamaican Dark Rum French Toast was a hit, and overall everyone enjoyed their meals. Great food, great service, and a solid spot for group dining or celebrations.

This just might've became my new fav go to brunch & drinks spot! Went here Monday for birthday brunch around 1 pm; no wait time and all of the staff were friendly, communicative, and full of personality 10/10. Inside was a chill ambiance; not too loud or quiet. Started with the Parmesan spinach and crab dip (10/10) flavorful, fresh, and I loved the fried pita bread it came with; so delicious I wanted to order another serving! Also had the Fried chicken and waffle meal (8/10) I think the chicken was amazing; juicy, crunchy skin, good flavor and the tots were tasty as well. The waffle was lackluster for me though especially when I saw the chocolate chips; I was expecting them to be cooked within the waffle not just thrown on top and barely melted. The eggs needed seasoning; even with the cheese, they were flavorless. Besides those couple misses, I still enjoyed my meal. For drinks, I had the Raspberry sorbet mimosa (9/10) this was new for me and I actually really liked it. Also had a Big jumbo mimosa with cranberry juice (10/10) delicious and so fun/unique; more than enough shared between me and my sister! I also got to taste the "Baymosa" my mom had and I'm def going back for that one! Added this place to my go to spots list! Definitely coming back for sure! My overall rate of experience : 9/10

Soft shell crab specials today (not always available, so... I had with BLT, wife had plain. As always, food is great, service is prompt and waitresses are friendly and helpful. Always a busy place, but usually you can get seated quickly. Brunches and lunches are always great. Newer addition provides additional space which can be needed on weekends!

This is the neatest restaurant I have eaten at in a long while. The decorations make you feel like you're at a cool beach house. The food is top notch and reasonably priced for seafood. I got a shrimp and crab (lots of both) omelette for $19. I had a spill of my drink and the staff was super helpful and apologetic. It was a great experience even with the drink mishap. I will be returning.

Brunch for our family of 7 on New Year's Eve. Different trip, same quality experience! Sat right away despite a busy crowd. Friendly service from Sarah throughout; had food in 15 minutes. All very good: Crabcake benny w English muffin and home fries, blueberry pancakes, blueberry waffles, the Lesner, chicken n waffles, kitchen sink w peppers/onions, and the Big Al.

Love this restaurant SO MUCH! I've never gone here and NOT left satisfied and with the itis lol! This is my favorite location, and I have always had great service here. I love the nautical theme, it's so VA Beach. Though it's hard to get seating and the waiting times can be long, it's worth it the wait. It is difficult to find parking and sometimes requires a bit of a walk from some streets over. I've had many things on their menu, but my favorite is their shrimp and grits!

The food was well seasoned; it was delicious. I had the crab cake eggs benedict; there was so much flavor! Omg! The service was great; would definitely go back there again to try some of the other items that they had on the menu. The other food item names / descriptions on the menu sounded intriguing and appetizing. Also had the jalapeño margarita and the Baymosa, both were very good with tropical flavors. The atmosphere was very nice. Definitely can take the family. Highly recommend.

Bay Local is a local fave. We went mid week around 11am. Food was amazing, drink specials were on point, and the servers were attentive. This location is slightly smaller compared to others but still great. Parking can be a challenge, but again, so worth it for the great food. I was able to customize my omelette w ease which was awesome, and I was able to take my beverage special to go.

We were seated quickly though the place was nearly full. They had a Specials for the day, so hubby decided to order the Tile fish but sadly we heard "86 the Tile" just after we placed our orders. He had to make a fast decision so he got the Soft shell crab fish BLT with tater tots. I got the soft shell crab sandwich with the tots. I also got a cup of tea, choosing Tazo Passion out of the variety box. It was cold inside so the hot tea helped. This location has expanded, apparently recently enough, complete with a bar, so that they are now able to shorten the waiting time. Though during the weekends the current wait time is now 1 hour, 30 minutes due to the popularity of their food. They are famous for soft shell crabs!

We rolled up on a Saturday, took one look at the parking situation, and almost bailed. I was sure the were going to be a huge wait, the cars were everywhere. It was Mad Max: Fury Road out there. But in a plot twist, I ducked inside to check the wait and, surprise, there wasn't one. Just a parking lot that operates on pure anarchy. But inside was not crazy busy at around 10am. The place itself is cute, the design has beach elements, it's bright, nice specials board and a bar. It did get much busier as we had our meal so arrive early. The menu? Huge. They even have early bird specials, which is great if you have your life together enough to brunch at a responsible hour. My only wish? A classic, no-frills eggs-toast-meat option for those of us who sometimes just want the breakfast greatest hits. Food-wise, it was a home run. Generous portions, solid flavors. The breakfast cocktails? Equally robust. I went for a sorbet mimosa, which is a risky game as some places go full dessert mode and forget the champagne. Not here. The ratio? Chef's kiss. My brunch company had a burrito (solid) and we even sampled a kid's meal (also solid). One hiccup: As the place filled up, service slowed, and my brunch companion tragically never got a refill. This is how brunch heartbreak happens, people. No refill = unfinished meal = existential crisis. But all in all? A worthy brunch adventure. Just maybe take an Uber and let someone else battle the parking gauntlet.

Brunch with friends and my first time here. The parking situation is a nightmare. Beware of the police sitting around the corner! I got lucky and found a spot after making a circle around. My friends had to park across the Main Street. Place is pretty busy with locals and while waiting we got drinks and sat in the sofa. They do have a decent amount is waiting spots to sit. I appreciated that at my age. Hahaha. The Bloody Mary's were great. Our "drink"server while waiting was super and friendly. Once we got a table we got a different server and she wasn't as friendly while we placed our order. I was glad our "drink" server ended up coming around to attend to us in the end. The menu had something for everyone but the 4 of us decided on the soft shell crab benny x2 since it was in season and the other 2 decided on the crab cake benny. It was just enough food and drinks to fill me up and want to take a nice little nap.

The food truck has been operating a few months and I've seen business. The restaurant will be reopening next month after a fire closed them down more than a year ago. It's taken them much longer than necessary in my opinion to come back after hiring gypsy labor. They have had reported issues for months with city permits. On a side note a gypsy workers truck caught fire in the parking lot yesterday. Hopefully I can update after the reopening, but I'm not rushing.

First, let me say the service was absolutely TOP TIER! The staff was attentive, friendly, and the overall atmosphere definitely gave that elevated dining experience. I don't mind paying for a fine dining experience as long as the food matches the experience. We started with the crab dip appetizer, and honestly it was solid. Definitely a good appetizer choice. For drinks, I kept it simple with a tequila sunset and substituted pineapple juice for orange juice a good drink! Now for the meals. I ordered the lamb chops with mashed potatoes and green beans. I hate to even say this because I had such high hopes, but the lamb chops lacked seasoning for me. I ordered them medium, but they were definitely more medium rare. I love a medium rare ribeye, but not so much with lamb chops. The mashed potatoes and green beans were decent, but overall needed a little more flavor. My husband had the Butcher's Burger with wedges. He said it was a solid burger, slightly overcooked, but still good overall. He did enjoy the different flavor the pork belly added. My daughter ordered the Pasta Pescatore and said it was good, but not necessarily an "oh my goodness, I have to come back for this" type of dish. Overall, because so many people told me I would LOVE The Butcher's Son, I think my expectations were extremely high. If you enjoy Moscato-style wines, this one was definitely the highlight of the tasting for me. The winery itself has a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy a glass (or a flight). They also offer a selection of light bites if you want something to snack on while you're tasting. I ordered the house biscuits with jam and butter, which are made in-house, along with an order of fries. Both worked well as simple bites alongside the wine. If I had been with a group, I probably would have ordered the charcuterie board -- the one at the table next to me looked very generous and easily shareable. Service was friendly and welcoming, and since it wasn't overly crowded when I visited, it made for a relaxed afternoon tasting experience. We started with the she crab soup and the half-pound of steamed shrimp, and both were outstanding. The she crab soup was rich and flavorful, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked and absolutely drool-worthy. My boyfriend ordered the grilled salmon, and after trying a bite, I have to admit I was a little jealous--it was phenomenal! I ordered the scallops with peppers, onions, and cucumbers. The scallops themselves were cooked perfectly, but the cucumber flavor just wasn't for me. That's purely a personal preference, not a reflection of the quality. My biggest disappointment was the coleslaw, which seemed more like lightly shredded lettuce with a drizzle of Marzetti's dressing than traditional coleslaw. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the food or the view. We waited quite a while before anyone acknowledged our table, and after our order was taken, we never saw our server again until the check arrived. There were no drink refills, no check-in to see how our meals were, and no thank you at the end. Overall, Bubba's has some incredible food and an unbeatable waterfront atmosphere, but the inconsistent service and a couple of underwhelming menu items kept it from being a great experience. It wasn't the best meal I've had, but it certainly wasn't the worst either. I'd definitely come back--for the appetizers, the salmon, and that beautiful view.
