The food here is fine. There truly are no issues there, and the food doesn't stand out in any other way. The tartare of tuna is a pretty good appetizer though. In the past (perhaps as part of a limited menu only), they did include smoked salmon on top (photo), which makes for a great combination; now, they do not have the smoked salmon and instead include wonton pieces. What was disappointing was that we requested either a corner table or one closer to the windows at the time we made the reservation. I understand - this is a request and things can change on the day of. However, the staff's dismissive attitude was unpleasant - they first behaved as if they hadn't seen the request and then when I asked them if it would be possible to honor the request they adopted a take it or leave it attitude. (I hadn't even said anything beyond asking them about the request.) We were seated smack dab in the middle of two tables in the noisy dining area to the right. My friend and I enjoyed... - Amazing warmed ciabatta rolls with butter (I must've had like 4-5, don't judge me pls) - Then had their beet/goat cheese salad (I had it several years ago, it is now scaled down, more of a vertical presentation, not as tasty but decent) - Then they had special wine pairings with small bites: I chose a chardonnay with medium well done steak (what they delivered was a red wine, and a med rare steak, had to send it back). Had the pleasure of going on date night to this place and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The ambiance was beautiful. They had a piano player which was AMAZING . Played some great classics. We had the option of sitting outside which had a live band but it was a chilly that evening so sat indoors. But the band did sound great. They also had a really good wine selection. Had the beet salad and chorizo pasta which had a little kick to it but was tasty. Parking is tight but it's in a shopping complex so not far of a walk of you don't get parking right by the restaurant. They also have valet parking which is super convenient. We joined some friends for dinner, made reservations. We were seated right away, we chose outdoors but I somewhat regretted it. Their "patio" was in their parking lot and at a slant. We have been to many restaurants with outdoor dining who have really upped the antyto their outdoor dining area,, this place did not. We had a party of six, large table. The chairs were small wooden ones, uncomfortable with small spindle legs that I felt didn't support me well, I am of average weight. The service was good. The dishes we all ordered were delicious, ribeye was a good size, scallops and lobster mashed potatoes were sensational! The serving of the short rib plate was small but my friend said it was outstanding. The Maitais were strong and sweet. We really enjoyed the live jazz singer. My one complaint is we wanted the chocolate souffle cake for dessert and we know this takes 30 minutes to bake. If this is a weekend item only why offer us the dessert menu with this item on it on a Friday? Overall, it was a very good experience and the fare we chose were all fabulous. But also it's Newport Beach, so it's expected for those who know the area. I got the bayside Benedict, which was decent. I am a big salmon Benedict person and I love salmon, but even for me, it was a little too much salmon. I believe my partner got a frittata, which was delicious but small in portion for its prize. We sat outside and afterwards, took a walk around the harbor which was right across the restaurant! It was such a convenient location for a nice walk after a filling meal. It's a nice elegant restaurant. If you get seated on the patio, you can see the view of the bay and at sunset time, it's lovely. Food was a hit and miss. For appetizers, we ordered crab cakes, tuna tartare, mussels in cream broth, calamari, and shrimp scampi. All the seafood were very fresh. Crab cakes, mussels, and shrimp were flavorful, delicious and very meaty. But some dishes were off like the tuna tartare, which had no flavor at all and was very bland; it needed some tanginess and salt. Calamari was good, although the aioli sauce was weird. It was very pungent of something that tasted like anchovy or Worcestershire sauce. For entrees, we ordered chicken, filet mignons, and salmon dishes. Chicken came out dry and all the steaks were overcooked. I had asked for medium, and it came out medium-well. Some others who ordered medium-well had theirs very well done. Salmon was very moist and flavorful. Service was good. Our waiter was very nice and cordial. Also, cocktail drinks are good too. It's a $$$ restaurant so expect to spend more money. Delicious experience at Bayside today for lunch! We had the prix fix at $29.50 was a great deal . We started with the Cesar salad nice size portion for a starter . Our entree selection was the jumbo scallops on a bed of lobster mash! This was delicious and lovely presentation good flavors 3 big scallops per plate . And they still have live music too! We started with the charcuterie plate, and it was great to share! There was an aged cheddar, a goat cheese, a brie, and one that tasted like a bleu, plus salami and prosciutto and grapes and strawberries and walnuts. Only 4 slices of crostini and a handful of mini toasts though. After that though, none of us could finish our entrees! I got the scallops, which were excellent. Another place that had success but seems to be on the decline. Let me first compliment our server Wendolin, she was sweet and attentive. The food was just OK. The drinks are good and the bar menu is usually pretty good but I guess tonight it was a little off. The lobster bisque had zero lobster in it unless they puréed it... and the shrimp risotto had zero flavor... the shrimp were cooked well and we were frankly starving! But oh well. The restaurant created a specific menu that had some of their finest quality items to serve us. We started with warm break and butter then go to choose what we wanted from a limited menu. We came for Easter brunch yesterday. Would absolutely come back again BUT we would request to be seated on the bay side versus the other side. The ambience on the other side was average at best. Clean but kind of old and bland. That said, the food was terrific. Absolutely delicious. The crab cake, the lamb and that special sauce, and the dessert was so tasty and perfectly cooked. Made a reservation for Valentine's Day originally at 8:00 pm and they pushed us to 9:00 pm. Ambiance is wasted on the bad management. Place overbooked and we waited 54 minutes to be seated. ONLY WHEN WE SAT DOWN, did they mention they did not have their conventional menu, only had a valentines menu which costed $125 per person. I'm okay with the amount of money, what I'm not okay with is NOT DISCLOSING THIS. They overbooked because of their greed, and the service was, quite frankly, terrible. Catty hostesses and waiters that were rushing us. They did not mention anything about price, menu, or wait upon booking the reservation by phone call. The website does not mention anything about Valentine's Day either. Terrible experience. Way to ruin a night. Would rate 0 if I could. read more

This places menu has falsified information. It's hilarious! So their yogurt, season fruit and granola is the picture you see. It's yoplay for $7. I asked the waiter where are the seasoned fruits and he said there should be blueberry sand banana in there then came back and said they blend the fruit into the yogurt. We indulged in craft cocktails that were just as beautiful as they were memorably delicious, I had the scallops that were simply a delight! The other geese HS steak and a pasta dish that were far better than we knew to expect. The three-tiered dessert choice would easily give Willie Wonka a run for his money. Was not greeted by the host then she took us to our table and didn't give us kids menus (and we had two small children) or crayons which we know they have since we've been here before. I expect more from a place at this price but it's all good! At no point was our table picked up and was a mess as we had two little ones. Plates sat there and we even had to move some to the seating area. Nobody cared to pick them up. A lot of staff seemed to be overwhelmed and careless like they rather be on unemployment or something. At the end of the meal, as we sat at our dirty table, no one cared to even say happy birthday during this whole meal. Not that it matters but hey we go out on our bday to feel special. The place actually felt like an old Hollywood restaurant where the well healed go to eat, although not at all pretentious. Service was very cordial, relaxed yet also highly professional. I started with a California Riviera salad that was delicious and well dressed, yet humongous. A lot of food. Then I went on to the rack of lamb and it was perfectly prepared and oh so good. It's been a few years since I have been so I wanted to write a new review. First of all the live music is still wonderful. The ambience is great considering the COVID 19 restrictions put in place. Each booth has glass put around it to protect guests. I will say I wish they would enforce some what of a dress code (no shorts/flip flops/swimsuits/tank-tops) but that is my personal opinion. The food was perfect as always we tried the pasta this time, and it was amazing. The soufflé is now an actual soufflé so clearly someone listened to my advice! Came here for Valentine's Day and thought it was a beautiful restaurant. The ambiance was nice and the live music was fun, but the service/menu items could've been a lot better for a $300+ dinner. We were not made aware about it being a limited menu for Valentine's Day. It was $125 per person, which was fine but something we wish we knew ahead of time. The server was great upon the initial greet, but we didn't see much of him after that. He took our drink order and never asked if we'd like a refill after our cocktails were finished (we finished our drinks before our food came out). My boyfriend was excited to try the rib eye but when the server came to take our order he told us they ran out. We wish he would've told us that prior to taking our order. The food was a 7/10, meats were cooked beautifully but the vegetables and other things accompanying were bland for the price. Our server did not check on us one single time after dropping the food. I would understand if it was busier, but we were one of the last reservations to get sat and the place was dying down.
