The staff was very friendly but the BBQ was mediocre. There was really not a lot of BBQ flavor at all. No bark on the tri tip or the pulled pork. The meat was very bland and not something we would order again. Both meats were on the tough side which is unexpected for low and slow BBQ. The macaroni was pretty good. We didn't enjoy the coleslaw. Ironically we were given a pastrami sandwich in our to go order by mistake and that was delicious - I would recommend that. Personally it wasn't my type of BBQ. read more

Overall decent but could have been great with a couple changes. We ate the tempeh and spaghetti squash sandwiches. Needs: - add MORE everything- we immediately noticed how thin and light they were. - too much bread. Bites were too much bread which made the sandwich too dry for what you want for BBQ - add more sauce. Get it JUICY. - add more crunch for freshness - get a new vegan Mac and cheese recipe or scrap it. I've had soo much better and that vegan Mac and cheese just gives vegan a bad name. We were looking for a nice hearty meal on a cold day, and this was the perfect choice! This isn't the first time I've been in here, but I wasn't yelping the last time I stopped in. This is a little restaurant in a strip mall, serving up some of the best bbq in the valley. The really nice thing is they also serve up probably the best vegan bbq, that's right I said VEGAN bbq, and really delicious vegan desserts. I will admit I'm not in the least bit vegan, but The smoked spaghetti squash sandwich and vegan lemon bars are to die for! This time around I decided to go for the hot pastrami. House cured and smoked and honestly I challenge you to find me some better pastrami! I love the fact that they have meat options AND an equal amount of vegetarian/vegan options. My boyfriend eats meat, but I'm vegetarian so it's really nice to find a restaurant that has delicious options for both of us. One of the best BBQ places I have ever been too! We had a half pulled pork half tri-tip sandwich and mac and cheese. The bun was fresh and the meat was tender and not dry. I love sweet bbq sauce and they have a bottle on the table to use. We then had home made bread pudding with a caramel drizzle and whipping cream. The food was so good we went back the next day! Burger was good, Mac and cheese was the worst I have tried at a sit down restaurant. Tasted like it was out all day. We have been coming here for several years, and everything has always been very good. The portions have always been more than enough, and impressive. However, we ordered over the phone and picked it up a couple evenings ago, this was the first time we have not sat inside. The buns were a bit hard, the portions were alot less then normal, and even the vegan potato salad was different then the last time I had it. It was way over spicy, alot more then ever in the past. So I decided to try this place out for dinner (6:30) and to my surprise it was great! Upon entry I saw the "take your own seat" sign and the moment I took a seat I was instantly given a Menu and was asked about drinks. I love my root beer so I took the Bucksnort Root Beer which was really good! It was almost as sweet as honey. The choice for my main dish I decided to try the Half Meat Sampler after being told it could feed 2 people (child's play for me!) and for the side I took the cornbread as I really love some good cornbread with BBQ. In about less than 30 minutes after ordering the food has arrived! I immediately dig in starting with the cornbread, to my disappointment it was very distasteful I barely managed to salvage it with some honey (provided) only then did it taste decent enough to eat. As for the main dish I was completely satisfied! It did come in a little warm but I didn't really mind. The pulled pork danced in my mouth as soon as I applied their original BBQ sauce, the Tri tip also was amazing as it gave of this amazing smoky flavor with each bite, the Ribs also left a great impression on my mouth, I mean you could really feel the wood smoked flavor! Not only were they good but they were very thick (meaty) which gives you more to eat! Drink - 5/5 Side - 2/5 Main dish - 5/5 Cleanliness - 5/5 Service 5/5 Time this took : 1:00 As for dessert.. I give it a 6/5 I took their Bread pudding (pumpkin edition) and boy was that good! If you know you don't have room for dessert STOP! Don't eat anymore and save that space for the Bread pudding!! We were visiting from California when we had a craving for some delicious mid west BBQ! A few blocks from our air bnb we drove past this place and knew we had to try it. Upon entering you are shortly greeted by friendly and happy waitresses. The place isn't too big but it's cozy and definitely has that ma and pa feel! There are booths for tables and wooden park style benches with a table adding to the overall aesthetic of the place. Their food was amazingly delicious! I had the pulled pork sandwich and their vegan potato salad. The bbq had so much flavor and literally melted in your mouth. The vegan potato salad was tasty as well perfectly seasoned and as good as a fair winning potato salad. My daughter has their veggie Mac n cheese which I of course had a few bites of. I love that they had an option to make something for my little one a little healthier and delicious. If we ever go back to Boise this place is definitely on our list to return to!
