We came on a Sunday and were seated at the counter in about ten minutes. Parking is scarce, so you might need to park on the street. The hostess and waitresses were all friendly and attentive. We stumbled upon Bea Bea's when looking for a brunch place to eat near Universal Studios. Having arrived late morning, there was already a wait outside. However, we were lucky enough to wait about 5 minutes and got seated outside. There is no physical menu. You have to scan the QR code that's imprinted on the center of the table. It's a nice menu with many options. From pancakes to french toasts, to crepes and omelettes. Many options for your pallet. I don't know if it's an advantage sitting outside because I have to constantly look for the waiter/waitress when they come outside and get their attention. Took awhile just to get our order placed. However, the food arrived within 10 minutes. We had scramble eggs and the apple cobbler with macadamia nuts pancakes. One order of pancake comes with 3 medium sized pancakes! So be sure to come hungry to grub! We LOVED the pancakes! It was light and fluffy. The macadamia nuts add a really nice crunch and texture to the fluffy pancakes. I really liked this combo. We've been long time customers of Bea Beas, eating there or getting take out from their brunch menu. As busy as it is, food is generally satisfyingly good, service pleasant and efficient. This review is only for their Thomas's Loco Moco which we have often enjoyed in the past, except today. We got it for take out to eat at home. Their kitchen "sneakily" added about a teaspoonful of finely minced jalapeno peppers which wasn't even an ingredient before. In fact, the menu description below (see photo) didn't include jalapeño. Here is why I say "sneakily". This is how the Loco Moco was assembled:from the bottom to top--white rice, hamburger patty, minced jalapeno (not indicated on the menu), 2 eggs totally covering and hiding the jalapeños, gravy smothering the dish, then chopped cilantro on top. Why am I writing about this? The reason is because one of my family members was eating the Loco Moco not knowing that jalapeños were added. Not used to eating spicy food, her throat almost closed up from the spiciness of the minced jalapeños that she unknowingly ingested since it was hidden under the eggs and gravy. Luckily, milk and water were on the table to remedy the situation. Bea Beas should alert their kitchen to only use the ingredients indicated on their menu. We've ordered this item for years and though the menu said spicy beef patty, it didn't have minced jalapeños. At best, we used to only taste a hint of black pepper. If you want to incorporate jalapenos on your Loco Moco, put it on the side so the customer can see the jalapeños and can have the discretion of adding it or not. read more

Crab benedict is always my favorite. If this is on the menu I tend to skip everything else. This is where my family took me for my birthday/Mother's Day. The wait time was a little long because we watched on the sidelines waiting for the chaos to unfold. The hostess had so many people waiting and she messed up and had new arrivals get tables quicker than us waiting around for almost an hour. To be honest, I kind of felt bad for her. She looked super overwhelmed because the other people were getting mad, anyway once everything was squared away we ended up waiting for a little over an hour for a table. When we were finally seated the place was a full house. It seems like a very popular spot. Even though it was busy, all the staff were working together and they all looked like they were all doing their part to keep the restaurant moving. The crab benedict that I ordered was definitely a 5 star experience because crab is one of my favorites. Overall I think this is such a delicious place to have brunch at. I think they could probably throw in one more scoop of potatoes in there since brunch here is on the pricier side or a whole tomato instead of a few slices. I'm not complaining, just wishing. I enjoyed my birthday/Mother's Day brunch here. Staff wasn't too friendly, but I think it's because it was Mother's Day and it was super busy so they didn't have time to chit chat or give smiles or even say Happy Mother's Day. If ever I'm in the neighborhood again I would definitely see myself coming back. Great experience! Bea Bea's has been a Burbank institution as long as I can remember and have been aware of it for decades, yet never been. I finally got the opportunity last weekend to meet a buddy of mine and it was a great experience as busy as it was. Parking is easy since Bea Bea's is essentially, part of a strip mall and as I waited for my friend, I gave my name to the hostess (I didn't make a reservation). They won't seat parties unless everyone's present. As my friend arrived, the hostess was great: she called my name and let us choose from the empty tables inside by the front door. Our own faux pas talking is that we didn't notice the menu's QR code on the table! We got paper menus which I prefer because the menu is absolutely massive! The choices are endless and us foodies love that! Liz got the Pooh's Sunshine with a peach crepe, two scrambled eggs and Bacon. It was amazing! I similarly got the Kin's Sunshine with the pancakes, poached eggs and two sausage with a drip coffee with cream. It was SO delicious! I wish I could have finished the pancakes, as much as I craved them! Service was attentive, polite and efficient. The ambience is one of that of a strip mall diner but that's fine by me. You'll see families, retirees, girlfriends catching up and the like all enjoying brunch inside or out on the patio. We came for Father's Day. They sat us outside and we waited for 10 minutes and nobody so much as brought us water. We tried to go inside to find out if we could get service and immediately got yelled at by the lady behind the counter for "standing in the doorway", as we were literally walking in the door. After shooing us out of the restaurant and making us sit back down, she came out and made a big fuss about moving us inside, like we were inconveniencing them. Our server was nice and did a great job, but the food was not so great. I got the pancakes with strawberries, blueberries, and macadamia nuts, but the macadamia nuts were so rancid that they were completely inedible. I scraped them off, but they left a really bitter flavor on the top layer of pancake. I didn't complain or send it back because I didn't want to be more of a bother than they clearly already thought we were, but they charge you top dollar at this place. If we're going to be paying $20 for three pancakes, then the macadamia nuts should be fresh. I feel like that's pretty basic... All in all, not a great experience. Real bummer since we were really excited from having a really great time here last year. But, if your food is going to cost an arm and a leg, especially for inexpensive ingredients (like what goes into pancakes), then the service and food needs to be pretty great, especially in this economy. read more

Three big pancakes served steaming hot with a side of sweet black bean sauce(maybe cream cheese based? It was heavenly!), maple syrup, and sweetened flaked coconuts with sesame seeds. These toppings accentuated the yumminess of the pancakes. We also split a matcha tea latte which was the right amount of sweetness. Bathroom was nice and clean and they have a separate men's and women's BR. Service was prompt but a bit tepid, when we requested extra plate and forks bc we were sharing, we were met with what looked like surprise and like it was an inconvenience.
