I found this brunch place on Yelp while on vacation. It was great because it had a wide variety of food choices with some unique twists, good service, and it's a really nice looking place. So all three categories (food, service, and ambiance) were high quality. I had a healthy Southwest Bowl with roasted sweet potatoes, black beans, roasted corn, cherry tomatoes, avocado, cotija cheese, and eggs. It had all the right protein for me along with the veggies. I was fully satisfied and I knew I also had something healthy for my body. It was delicious. This place is definitely a fancy little breakfast or lunch place to visit with your friends. This is in my opinion the BEST breakfast I can get in San Diego. I'm a big foody and have tried a lot of breakfast and brunch joints around here so I feel that's saying a lot. The fact that this restaurant has 4.3 stars in beyond me. For starters I got the braised beef hash and my husband got the chorizo hash; the flavor was TO DIE FOR. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Then for dessert we shared a lemon ricotta pancake and WOW. The pancake was so good and the combination of flavors in the pancake was very impressive. But my most favorite part of this place was their jam and bread. Safe to say I took home some Strawberry Basil jam because WOW. Had a pretty good experience here! Parking - in a shared shopping center. You could get lucky with front parking, but if during brunch hours, may need to park near the other shops and walk a little. Not too bad though Service - For brunch time on a Saturday, we had a party of 6 with a dog, so had to do outdoor patio seating. VERY surprised that we only had to wait 5 min or so after putting in our name. I felt like I won the lottery. The waitress was very kind too, thinking of the sun beaming on us and thinking of how to provide us more shade. She was very nice and professional. Ambiance - Seems like almost every other brunch place in San Diego/North County area. Nothing spectacular or unique when it comes to decor or ambiance. Nothing to complain about, but also nothing to boast about. Food - Overall, everyone was pleased with their food. You have a lot of the same brunch offerings that the other places have. Typical breakfast stuff. I got the smoked salmon and potato cakes. It was very good! I also liked that they had Soju Baby Driver (mimosa with Soju instead of champagne). Although it didn't taste like Soju, nor did it taste like orange juice. Price - Some of the items were fairly priced. But I feel like my meal alone (smoked salmon with potato cakes and Soju driver) were very highly priced. Yummy breakfast, quick service, & cute vibe. We were able to sit right away around 10am on Sunday. The pumpkin pancakes were very good and perfectly pumpkin-y. The pumpkin spice latte lacked pumpkin flavor, but that's okay. It was still good. I would get the coffee cake to eat with coffee while waiting for your food. The bread used, could not stand up to be eaten like a sandwich. Her potatoes looked soggy and overcooked. I also should have gone to Starbucks for a iced mocha which would have been cheaper! This place was absolutely delicious. Seems like everything is made from scratch. I ordered the traditional eggs Benedict, but asked for a side of the jalapeño hollandaise sauce. It was delicious! I also ordered an iced pistachio latte with oatmilk. It was creamy and a little bit sweet. I forgot exactly what my friend ordered, but I think she got a banana French toast. It looked delicious too. I WISH I remembered our waitress' name. She was very nice and helpful with questions about the menu. She had brown hair and glasses and the way she talked about all of the food and her recommendations were on point. The air conditioning was out, so that was the ONLY downfall. Short version ~ just go it never disappoints This was our 2nd visit to Beach Plum as we were in town for the weekend. We visited on a Sunday, Labor Day weekend, around noon. I love that they have the online waitlist feature. When we checked in with the hostess she offered the counter if we did not want to wait. I appreciate that the counter seating is spaced well enough to not feel like you are encroaching on your neighbor. The service was excellent and drinks were quickly served. This visit I opted for two specials; the peach and blackberry toast and a horchata latte. My husband ordered the braised beef machaca hash. The toast was a flavorful change from avocado toast and the ricotta was creamy and a nice contrast to the fruit and multigrain bread. It looked sweet but was not overly so and nicely balanced. The machaca is full of flavor and the portion looked deceivingly small but was filling for my husband. The horchata latte was sweet and good and by my observation at the counter in front of the barista, very popular. The restaurant has a good selection of Monin syrups, so they can customize coffee orders well. read more

Been coming here periodically for the past few years and the food's been consistently good and the coffee's great. They also have delicious jams you can purchase as well. Each time we've come, the servers have been welcoming, friendly & efficient. We love that we can choose to sit inside or outside on their patio which is shaded and has good seating. The place has a good vibe, fairly quiet that makes conversing easy. Great place to meet friends or go solo since they have a counter with chairs you can sit at. They also have a reward system you can sign up for which you can accumulate points (1 point for every $1 spent) when you dine in-not only at this restaurant but their other sister restaurants (Tin Leaf & Black Rail Kitchen) as well to earn a $5 discount for every 100 points that you can use at any of their facilities. It's one of our go-to, local breakfast/brunch spot we frequent. Only downside is that it's a bit pricey for some of the items on the menu for what you get and the parking can be challenging. But obviously, despite that, it hasn't deterred us from supporting this local business. It's a good one! read more

TBH I WAS hangry before my arrival. This place turned that around with just the ambiance. It gives off relaxing and chill beach vibes. I missed the complimentary breakfast at my hotel so I turned to Yelp. I was able to join the waitlist via Yelp from our hotel so by when we arrived they greeted and seated us immediately. It's always nice to not have to wait especially with kids! The design and decor of the restaurant is very cute. If there was a vibe check, this place definitely passes with flying colors. The weather was perfect today and my kids really wanted to dine outdoors. So that's what we did! The music they played was on point and not too loud. It really was at a great volume to where you could hear it but you could still have a conversation. They have a great menu selection. It's not basic and it's not overwhelming with too many things to pick from. I love their coloring placemats for the kids. It actually kept my kids quite occupied as they really tried their best to color the pictures. Kudos to the restaurant owners. They did a really wonderful job in crafting this place in my opinion. The food arrived and not only did it look AMAZING...it delivered on the taste too!! I am impressed that everything we ordered tasted DELICIOUS! Here's the low down and what we ordered: Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes - WOW just WOW from the creme to the strawberries to the fluffy pancakes just perfection. Jam sampler - our server recommended the Sadie Rose Multigrain Bread because it's larger with more pieces than the other options. Blueberry lemon was ok. Peach was ok. Strawberry basil wasn't a standout. The star of the show was of course...the beach plum jam!! Ben's Breakfast burrito - my first couple of bites I didn't real get any bacon but once I did. The burrito was pretty good. We preferred green salsa with it. Cage free egg styled how you like - we ordered the eggs scrambled, added sausage, bacon, Housemade Buttermilk Biscuit and it came with breakfast potatoes. We also added a side of fruit. I think I was expecting more from the biscuit. I wouldn't order the biscuit again. My son really liked it though. I preferred the Sadie Rose Multigrain Bread over the biscuit. I loved the house potatoes, it was full of flavor. My son of course loved the sausage and bacon. Seasonal brown sugar cortado - it was ok. I personally wouldn't order it again. It was really small and strong. I think I wasn't in the mood for it. When I come back I plan on trying their matcha latte. The menu does say due to rising cost there is an extra 5% surcharge added to your bill. The 5% was an added $3.19 to our bill. I'm actually surprised that even with the 5% surcharge. My subtotal was $66.94 including the surcharge for all that food. Plus tax and 20% tip my total came out to $85. That fed my husband and I and our 3 kids. We all were really full too. In the end, I paid it and would pay again. The service was good, the food excellent, and ambiance was on point. Definitely way worth it in my opinion!!! This place is a MUST stop for sure! read more

Honestly this place surprised me as a brunch spot for someone who isn't to much of a brunch fan. The music was honestly one of the things that made this place so fun for me. It felt like a mini brunch rave with "sandstorm" playing or techno "total eclipse of the heart!" The service was solid, nothing wrong but nothing outstanding either. I was in a group of 6 and you can see the sampling in the photos. I have another review about a pop tart and this one had a really good crust! The jam in the middle was not overly sweet and the icing on top added the necessary sweetness levels. I would get one again. I enjoyed my breakfast sandwich although the bread felt a tad greasy.
