I really enjoyed the Meteor Shower Blonde Ale. It had an almost coffee aftertaste. The Kickstep IPA was good too, quite hoppy. Glad to see these two gluten-free beers available. The website claimed that the chips and salsa are not vegan, but our host assured us they are. When the remodel is over there might be more food options for gluten-free vegans, but until then it's a limited menu full of dairy and wheat. read more

Bear Tooth Theater Pub is a fun place to go catch a cheap movie and have some pizza or food while watching it. Also, if you want to enjoy Moose's Tooth without the wait and actually hear your friends, you can eat in the pub side. There are a lot of GF options but can be hard to navigate the menu for egg free or dairy free. The staff also have a hard time tracking down the GF menu or having enough knowledge of ingredients in the menu. But some are willing to try to find out. However it is loud, crowded, and there are a lot of people who want to order so it can feel like a lot of pressure. The GF menu is not available online. It would be really awesome to have this menu available online for research ahead of time. I ordered the Chicken Thai GF pizza but I don't know if the crusty as egg in it. I know I had dairy but I accepted my own fate/risk!! 4/5 stars because the menu is t online, I could get a GF menu, and it was difficult to get questions answered. read more

WOW! After two new discoveries, I am left with no choice but to upgrade my review to FIVE STARS. First Discovery: BRUNCH They do brunch here on the weekends, and it is incredibly good. I'd go so far as to say it's some of the best brunch IN TOWN. I went in here at 9am on a Sunday, no line, barely any people in here. Best breakfast burrito I've ever had. It was BIG, it was tasty, it was unique. Second Discovery: CONCERTS I'm not a big music guy. Go ahead, hang me, I understand. What I mean by this is: I don't appreciate music as much as 99% of my fellow homo sapiens. When I hear phrases like "I couldn't LIVE without music!" or "life isn't worth living without music!", I am confused. I rarely listen to music. I'd rather just talk to someone or listen to someone talk. Different strokes. Anyway. When I first moved to Anchorage a guy at Spenard Roadhouse told me "you gotta go to the concerts around here if you want to meet the lovely Anchorage ladies". In spirit, he is 100% correct. What I mean is, there are going to be a lot of people right around your/my age (mid 20's to upper 30's) present for the concerts here. When I saw the folks here when I walked in, I felt instantly at home. The concert was good but I came mainly for the camaraderie, which was even better. If you get there before three, you can get huevos rancheros. Enough said? Food - I started with the posole soup. I've had posole exactly one time before at Midnight Sun Brewing. This was a little more watery than my first experience but the meat was so tender it was running off my spoon with the liquid. For my main course I ordered the Colorado Tacos. Anytime food comes out that fast, I get worried it has been stewing in some pit with a ton of salt. That was NOT the case with this. First, I wasn't expecting three plates/items. There was a full plate with beans, rice, and a generous helping of meat. Then there was a plate with pico, sour cream, guacamole, and lettuce. Finally there was a container with warm tortillas. Wonderful. Ambiance - has almost a diner feel. It has a rustic feel with some bright colors. It wasn't too busy around 2 on a Tuesday. I hear it gets VERY busy. Notables - wonderful drink menu and a full bar. I had the Hefeweizen and it was smooth, slightly virtues and refreshing. I could have drank three in a blink. Cleanliness - very clean. Why has it taken me so long to write a review for Bear Tooth? I love this place. It's a great place to visit for tourists and locals alike. I love the idea of watching a movie while having more food options than your standard movie theater popcorn and candy (not to mention delicious local beer). Better yet, movie admission prices ($4 for general admission) are much lower than your standard theater. There's a great variety of mainstream Hollywood movies, indie flicks, and foreign films. Each winter they screen some movies for the Anchorage International Film Festival. The menu here is similar to Moose's Tooth as it also has pizza, but with more of a Tex-Mex flavor with items such as tacos and burritos. I like everything I've had here, whether it's an appetizer, entree, or dessert, so you can't go wrong. The one downside: parking. Finding parking here can be a huge pain because the parking lot is often full. Cars often end up on the side of the street which can make it hard to get around. So if you're coming here to see a movie, I definitely recommend getting here as early as possible to ensure you have enough time to find parking and order food. read more

When we arrived to the restaurant, it was already packed and there was a wait of 25-30 minutes. The hostess kindly provided us with various options to dine at the cafe next door or order as takeout to dine in outdoor setting. We ordered food and ate at the cafe (without service; the staff mainly helps with bussing the tables). We ordered diablo sticks, basil vinaigrette, and 1/2 & 1/2 pizzas with All-American and Garlic Lover's. The diablo sticks were delicious; don't think the sauce was necessary. I believe they use high quality cheese as it pulls to a great length when I try to separate the breadsticks/pizzas. I love the salad as it was refreshing and great balance with the pizza. The pine nuts in the salad really elevate the aroma and taste. The pizzas don't really stand out to me when I heard they are known for their pizzas. Wish the garlic flavor was stronger in the garlic lover's and more marinara sauce with the All-American. But overall, it is not bad and would recommend for a large group to share various dishes. read more

Tonight was my first time here. When to order your food was quite confusing, as I was told they take your order at your seat. They do not. Also, our group was led to believe that a handicapped person would have a seat with a paid ticket. This too, was not the case. We had to borrow a wooden chair from the lobby. Ok so turns out that bears tooth is the sister restaurant of mooses tooth. So if mooses tooth happens to be too busy, hop over to bears tooth theatre and pub because they sell a vast majority of the same pizzas. I tried the spicy pad Thai pizza 10" perfect size to finish off on a hungry stomach. The Thai pizza is definitely different, peanut sauce replaces the marinara, the bean sprouts are super fresh and crispy and the crust which is my favorite part is perfectly cooked. My only complaint would be that the pizza was not spicy more sweet then anything, a little red flakes never hurt it though. My bf split pizza was definitely more traditional but full of flavor I'd say the hitch hiker was more of my favorite, although that's a special so look out for it to try. read more

We have done take out a few times since covid and they have a very good set up. Pre pay over the phone, In one door, go to the station where your food is, out the other door. We LOVE the backpacker, Thai chicken pizza and the habanero chicken skewers. The Diablo bread is also a favorite. Can't go wrong though! read more

This is a cool place. Anchorage is lucky to have something like this. You can compare it to an Alamo Theater experience but it's different and the beer is 1000 times better. We were a group of 20 people. Was very hopeful because our server seemed to be very friendly. Took our order quick. We waited 20 minutes to get out first batch of orders. At least 3 items were brought to the table, that were not ours. Everyone was served at different times but the salads took about 45 minutes to get to us. Quality of salads was poor. Drink refills were seldomly made and it was hard to get ahold of our waiter. The rest of the food was delicious but the time and the taste of our 4 Moose salad was ridiculous. I prefer the theater side over the grill side. I love this place. Walk in the door, check your movie time, purchase your movie tickets, continue through, go to the order station, choose your pizza and soda/pitcher of water, pay of course, get your order number, go upstairs for non drinking, or downstairs for drinking, wait a little while, get your pizza, movie comes on, and enjoy life. Menu is almost identical to Moose's Tooth, so you won't go wrong. Nothing to complain about here read more

Did not have super high expectations for a theater pub, but their food is surprisingly great and affordable. Some of the best "bar" food we've had for the price. This is a great place to come for a date night or family night. I had the blackened AK cod tacos with lettuce instead of taco shell, rice, and beans. The fish fillets were VERY tiny, but it was the perfect amount of food for me. It's also definitely on the spicy side, which I was pleasantly happy about. Sometimes restaurants claim a dish is spicy and then it comes out hardly spicy at all, this dish is not that case. Nice corn like crunch at the end with a hint of honey and lemon taste that makes it not a bad choice for pancake lovers. My main dish was the AK grits. Very good. If you live grits with shrimp it's not a bad idea. My only draw back is I wish the grits where a little more porridge like. All that goodness that came with the grits make it hard to incorporate with a thick almost hard mashed potato like grits. But in all it's Tasty and a nice hint of spicy goodness. I am such a huge fan of this establishment. They have everything you could possibly want. $4.00 for a movie i'm sold! They are older movies, but that's what makes it great! The fact that you can eat while watching a movie is fantastic :) If you find Moose's tooth to busy just come here, its the same pizza (same owners). They even have the same draft root beer here. If you get a chance and want to pay a bit more get one of their few booths for the movie, especially if your on a date or in a group! But you must get these early as there are only a handful of them. The seats, not so comfortable, but who cares you can eat while you watch the movie, even better you get served. There is alcohol in the back of the theater too! If you come here for lunch come early, this place gets crowded at 1130 and 530 onwards. Order it to-go you will be happy. I have to mention, this place has the CHEAPEST best kids meal on the planet $2.95 gets you a huge bean burrito with cheese and some chips with it. I get this to go often for my five year old. Try to get here at least 20 minutes before the movie starts in the winter so you don't have to stand in the freezing cold. read more
