I just finished a move from California to Florida and used Beefcake movers. Gabbie was so thorough in her notes on my items to be moved. When they picked my things up there were 8 men that showed up and packed like a well oiled machine. Nothing was not thought of, planned for or organized. Since it was a long distance move and I did not have a house to move into, they kept my belongings stored for me. Unexpectedly, it took me six months before I could receive my things. They were amazing and so very accommodating. When I was ready, I called and Gabbie made arrangements. I had worked with Sean to schedule my move. He was very professional and friendly. I was looking forward to using him for the move until speaking with Gabbie. When speaking with Gabbie I had several very basic questions about my move but for some reason Gabbie decided to be unnecessarily very difficult. She was arrogant and rude to me. In no way, shape or form did she treat me like the paying customer that I am and instead just seemed to want to be difficult and not answer my questions. In fact she directed me to the contract to get answers to my questions however the contract did not include answers to my specific questions. But I would think it would be quite easy, quicker and more customer friendly to simply answer my questions which were basic yes or no questions. I asked to speak with Sean when I decided that I would no longer put up with her rudeness and she refused to let me speak with Sean. Shockingly she actually told me that she would be canceling my move at this point. This was quite incredible considering she was the person being incredibly rude and unnecessarily difficult with me, the customer, and my move date was actually just 2 days away. This was very unfortunate and really put me in a bind at the last minute. So basically I was forced to endure her nastiness or she would follow through with her threat to cancel my move. Luckily I was able to find movers at the last minute. These movers cost more than Sean and Gabbie were charging however I don't mind paying more for professionalism and basic consideration any day. I was so lucky to find Beefcake Moving. I only had a couple of days to schedule a pick-up for a piano, if I didn't pick it up before a certain date it was going to be given to someone else. Gabby was very helpful and was able to schedule a pick-up at the right day and time. The movers were very courteous, polite and took care that the piano made the 2 hour trip. We just had Beefcake move us from Los Angeles to Chicago. Before choosing them, my husband did a ton of research and they came out the best in customer service, responsiveness, transparency, care, and cost. They really delivered on all that, as well as our 100+ boxes. I have to say, we did alot of careful preparation and accurate reporting to them on how many boxes, and extra things (a chest of drawers, 2 bikes, an office chair, a bed frame and mattress), and were well prepared for them. This is essential for getting no nasty surprises, so we recommend a client working hard on this aspect of your move. At the origin, we brought everything downstairs for them to pick up. We did pay a bit extra at the destination for some extra stairs and slightly longer distance from the curb than we had estimated. Sean and Casey and their guys, and Gabbie, were all great, and we really thank them and recommend them. And tip the guys well! They worked hard in summer heat, on both ends of the trip. read more

We had a very prompt move with Beefcake Moving. Gaby called the day before in order to confirm the move. The crew arrived at my house pretty early and embarked on the job, which they did professionally and carefully all day long until everything was done. We had many things in our fully furnished four bedroom house, but these guys never tired until they accomplished the disassembling, parking and loading. I wish I had known it would be this good before I started the move. I spent way to much effort stressing about it!! I had an amazing experience with Beefcake! And I am NOT a person who uses the word "amazing" often. This was for a one bedroom apartment from Los Angeles to North Orlando area. First, Gabbie was very patient with me changing my list a few times. I did not have someone come out but instead just listed my items. My total ended up being only about $80 more than the estimate after you take off the long carry charges. Before you get upset...ALL moving companies charge for elevator and long carry (more than 75ft). They knocked off the elevator charge and one of the long carry sections. Also, I knew the estimate was under because I had added a few boxes and miscellaneous things. I was just hoping it was within $300. Be prepared to go over your estimate. You always think you have less than you do and the last "few things" end up being a lot more than it looks like it will be. Second, the origin movers were on time and very hard working. Yeah, for long haul you don't pay by the hour but it doesn't mean you want to spend all day doing it. These guys were fast but careful. I believe their names were Sean (manager but might be wrong on this name), Ishmael, and George. They wrapped my stuff very well and even the delivery mover commented at how great the stuff was wrapped. It sort of sucked that I lived downtown LA because parking enforcement came by and told them to move their truck. The manager said no problem and moved the truck. He didn't add any additional charges for further long carry. They ended up putting all my stuff downstairs and then getting the truck again at the end. Third, I did have to call to arrange the delivery. That's because I had no idea where I was moving to, meaning which apartment or even exact town in the area. You get one month storage so no big deal. The 21 days (by law) doesn't start until you give them a delivery address so I was prepared to go without my stuff for 2-3 weeks. I think I called and gave them the address on a Monday. My stuff was delivered Thursday night!! I was NOT AT ALL expecting it that fast!! In fact, my mom was coming over to help unpack so I had to re-arrange to go get her sooner. lol A good problem to have. The delivery mover Lehran (I know I didn't spell that right!) was also fast. He was very friendly and polite (as were the pickup guys). His helper was a bit young, inexperienced, and slow but still hard working and careful. I did get charged for long carry at destination but again it was reduced to less than it should have been and again, I knew it was well more than 75 feet. Fourth, and most importantly, ALL my stuff was accounted for and in perfect condition!! I thought my espresso machine was broke during the move because one side was popped out. Lehran easily fixed it though. I asked my friend in LA who had packed the machine and he said "No, it was broken already because I even mentioned it to you." Oops! Anyway, not sure why all these good reviews are filtered but I'd definitely 100% recommend Beefcake Movers!! If I had the opportunity to use them again, it would greatly reduce the stress of my move!! I've moved like 10 times in the past 8 years so I know what I'm talking about. read more

I recently moved from LA to Oregon and had Beefcake do the move. I solicited 6 estimates from movers and gave all of them the same list of items to move. Beefcake was the lowest. There were a couple other estimates not far from the Beefcake one and several hundreds higher. They don't give you an in person estimate you give the a list of your items and they quote from it. I asked several times what happens if the actual number of boxes is a bit higher or lower than the estimate and they said they'd call the day before to confirm. The only problem with this is that inevitably there are a few items more than what you think you have 24 hours ahead of the move. A couple other movers called this out and specifically said they don't get too picky. As long as its in the ballpark of the number I estimated they'd honor their quote. I should have taken that as a sign. When the guys arrived (btw they were nice enough, and 2 of the four looked like they knew what they were doing) they almost immediately started adding charges. I quoted a king sized bed...but the foreman said the headboard is not included. A charge. They counted about 5 more boxes than I had counted the day before. A charge. They had to pack a couple small pieces of marble on end tables. Big charges. When it was all said and done, I paid nearly $500 (almost 20%) more than the "binding" estimate I had the day before. The stuff arrived well enough in Oregon, not much damage, but it was a hassle sorting out where they were going to unload. I gave the movers a contact number when I booked the move for the City to arrange for delivery since only they would know when it would be arriving, but they left it to me to sort out. Unfortunately, with 24 hours notice of their arrival I couldn't get a permit required so any tickets for parking were on me too. The upshot of all of this is they did an okay job...but be warned that the extra charges on the day of the move if you are not SPOT ON with what you are moving add up quickly. Also, for what its worth, when I asked if the estimate goes down if we have less than the number given to them 24 hours ahead of the move the answer was no. So guess high folks if you want these guys to do your move....last minute charges get ugly. read more

I chose Beefcake to move my furniture and other belongings from Los Angeles to Mobile, Alabama (located right off the I-10 by Florida). The plan was to have my stuff picked up in May, stored for a couple of months, and delivered to its destination in early August. I was very impressed with the first phase of the move. Sean came to my apartment to conduct a moving estimate and quoted me a fair price. The loading crew arrived exactly on time and handled my belongings with care. They were also efficient - the whole process took less than 2 hours. The price quoted was the price I paid. Sean has two decades of experience in the moving industry, and it clearly showed through his professionalism. So why only 3 stars? My main "beef" with this company is that there was a lack of communication regarding the timing of delivery. I mentioned to them that August 6 was the official move-in date for my apartment in Alabama. Well, it is now August 6 and no truck is scheduled to go to Alabama/Florida in the foreseeable future. This means that it will take weeks (perhaps a month) for my stuff to arrive at my new residence. According to their contract, Beefcake is obligated to deliver my stuff within 21 business days, which is standard for the industry. Don't get me wrong... I'm not a bitter customer with unreasonable expectations. I never had the illusion that my stuff would arrive exactly on the target date. Alabama is far away and Beefcake is not a large company. I totally get that. What irks me is that I learned, after the fact, that one of their trucks had recently headed towards Alabama, but the decision was made not to load my belongings because everything would have arrived prior to August 6 (my official move-in date). I wish they had at least given me a heads-up. They could have said: "We have a truck that will pass through Alabama, but your stuff will have to be delivered by August 3rd or 4th. Would you be willing to accept an earlier delivery date?" I would have much preferred to receive my stuff a bit early than getting it several weeks late. After all, my apartment was vacant for a week prior to my move-in date. How about a little communication with your customer? I had been in contact with Beefcake several times in July, so there was ample opportunity for them to update me about my delivery options. In the meantime, I will be sleeping on a cheap cot, eating food off of paper plates, and wearing a limited wardrobe. Not so horrible. As long as my stuff arrives intact within 21 days, I would rate Beefcake as no better or worse than the myriad of other low-cost companies out there. I was really hoping to give this company a better assessment, so maybe they can flex their muscles and deliver within the next 2 weeks. read more

They must be posting fake positive reviews. These are bait and switch artists. Had a contract for about $1500, standard fee thru competitors and industry for a 1 BR apt. They charged us $3400! Of course, didn't tell us until day before, when notice was given to apt manager, had to move, couldn't get another mover. They claim we didn't disclose inventory. Bull, they had all of the major items on their list, and no appliance or really big pieces other than the bed. They would only take cash.. big red flag. I recently moved to Houston from San Diego and I did not want to move the stuff myself since it was such a long distance. I spoke with John initially to help with the move and at first everything seemed fine. I had my stuff picked up the day before Thanksgiving and from there it went downhill. I clearly went over everything with John if what I had and specified I assumed he had all of my inventory and did not make sure to check that everything was good. When the person arrived to go over my inventory I was then charged an additional 525 for stuff that was not added for example my bed frames for my mattresses and a part of my sofa. it was very bad miscommunication on John's part due to the fact he never asked in detail of what I had so I ended up having to spend more. Now, my stuff did not arrive until 12/4 almost 2 weeks of it being picked up. They said due to the holiday that it was taking so long, mind you the fact I called a week later and our stuff was not even loaded on a truck yet. So when they finally got here the driver informed me that the truck would not fit in my complex. So he had to rent another truck. On the contract it does not say a price but for everything else they charge for it does. In my mind I'm thinking okay Polly and additional 200-250 tops. The guy tells me 500 dollars. YEA RIGHT! So my girlfriend and I had to move our stuff ourselves in the rain with our two little children on the house. WORST SERVICE EVER. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Professional and best rates I could find for a 1 bedroom move. I got the sense that these guys were honest and didn't want to try to add additional fees. My original phone estimate was less than the the true estimate they gave when the movers came and they explained why. Their explanations made perfect sense and felt fair. Every item made it to my new place unbroken. They even helped set up everything at my new place in the exact way I asked with no hassles. To make everything smooth when you are working with them, my suggestion would be to take pictures prior to your move of everything you intend to move. This will give them a clearer picture of exactly what your job entails. I also had an extra charge just like a lot of people are describing. However, it was my error, as I forgot to count a large furniture piece. These guys were absolutely fantastic.Beefcake-Movers did a great job of packing and moving us from our old home in CA to our new home in Brooklyn,NY. I think my favorite part of the move was when the foreman occasionally asked me "how is the move going so far?" Turns out that the move cost less than estimated initially and significantly less than the two other companies that quoted us (when we shopped around) over the phone. They provided great quality service. The guys accommodated me finding out a time slot though they were booked up. The movers worked extremely hard on move day. They were very careful for my belongings and took extra care for delicate items. I did not see any of my stuff broken or in a damaged shape.. the loading/unloading crew dismantles and reassemble the sofa, bed frames, TV's, dinning tables, etc for you for free of charge. First of all, my items moved from California to New Mexico were delivered in good condition. The only problem that I had is with Beefcake's customer service. I was scolded by Gabbie when she didn't receive my check on time that I had sent via UPS. I also provided her with a tracking number for the UPS letter. I had misunderstood that they needed the check within 2 days, but instead I thought that they needed the check to be sent out within 2 days and I was angrily scolded for not getting the check to them in time. I'm not sure if Gabbie still works at this moving company, but she should not speak down to any customer in this manner. I cannot recommend this moving company due to poor customer service. 1 star is for the actual shipment that arrived without any damage. read more

When it comes to move, this particular experience always comes with problems and hassle that nobody would like to go through, but hence Beefcake Movers made feel entrusted and confident with their professionalism and great service. I hired them to move my belongings over to Arizona as I started a new job and needed to move things fast and forward but keeping in mind that everything will be handled by a reputable company and all my belongings will be in excellent hands. They not only gave me an excellent price, they gave a discount for all the packing I need due to my job which requires a lot of techie stuff and I really wanted this equipment to arrive intact. Once my belongings where on the road, I flew over to Fountain Hills to my new home just to wait for the truck to arrive, the called me 3 days later to let me know that the driver will be there by the end of the business day that day, didn't happen like that, I was surprised while doing the groceries and shopping with my mother and I received a phone call by 3 o'clock, they were 25 minutes away from my home. Not only they delivered my goods earlier than expected, they unloaded, unpacked and helped me putting everything to place. I was just impressed with all the great service and amazing job this company did for me, plus I gave the driver and helpers some pizza and soda and a little tip as they were very nice. I would not move with Beefcake. Good: Loading Crew Bad: Sales Team, Pricing, Organization As others have already stated, they use the bait and switch. You get a "binding estimate" over the phone but when the crew shows up they will not honor the "binding agreement". Mine jumped over 30%, in this case that's $2500. They left trash (used tape and plastic rolls, water bottles) and failed to pack several items such as power cords. Pulled cord from electronics and left it. Did not put anything over the carpet stairs while going up and down with dollies so there were two dark stains left. And then, when we mentioned that we were not pleased with the trash being left behind in a phone call with the supervisor and manager I was called a "LAIR" by the site supervisor. The manager finally told me that leaving trash scattered all over the garage and R.V. parking area was not a "Big Deal" on a job that big. Low budget operation, they do low budget work but after refusing to honor the binding agreement they entered into charge high budget prices. read more

I hired Beefcake Movers to ship my belongings cross country. When the driver arrived with the semi- he couldn't make the turn into my driveway so they said they had to come back two days later, rent a smaller truck and charge me an additional $350. When I expressed that this was not ok with me, the rep I had been dealing with, Gabby, responded with, "You should have read your contract." The contract just says that a truck needs to be able to access your driveway. How would I, as a regular consumer, know how much clearance a truck would need. She was completely unwilling to negotiate this AT ALL and got extremely sassy on the phone. Needless to say this was extremely frustrating and quite possibly the worst customer service I've ever received from any company I've done business with. My advice is to absolutely not use this company if you're looking for a seemless low stress move. read more

I used the Beefcake moving company and had a horrible experience. One box was missing and I found my important identity and banking documents opened at the bottom of a box !!!! I had an envelope of very important documents ( Identity,Banking, etc) that I put aside in my walk in closet with other bags containing important items that I wanted to move with my own car and told the movers that these items are not for them to move. I found them wrapping stuff in that room and the entrance of the room was blocked with furniture so I couldn't get it. As I got the chance to get in the room I found out that my documents are not there ! I asked them about it and they said it's in the back of the truck and they have no access to it until we arrive to the destination. As we arrived. I found my documents opened and scattered at a bottom of a box mixed with clothes. I was in a shock ! I reported the fact based my observation and without any accusation of any bad doing to the company and they said that their guys wouldn't do any thing bad and I was yelled at that I am accusing them that their people have gone to my documents when I was politely emphasizing that it is not an act of accusation but just to report and inform them about what has happened. The guy who claimed to be the supervisor was extremely rude to me, yelling at me over then phone and not willing to even apologize or take any actions about it. After a few weeks and getting the chance to finally unpack, we found one of our boxes missing with a camera in it worth or $250 or more. As I reported it the result and action was the same and they told me I can get 60 cents per lb for that item !!! What would you feel if it happened to you ? read more

A close family friend recently made a long distance move using Beefcake Moving. They came highly recommended, so I figured I would give them a call and get a free quote. I called in and when I got one of the salespeople on the phone, he gave me all of the information I needed. The price, which by the way was a really good price for sure, and all of the services included in the move. They informed me that if I needed to, I could have my personal belongings in storage for up to 30 days for free...they also let me know that they would do all of the packing for a nominal fee, and would disassemble and reassemble all of my furniture. This was a massive undertaking but they got it done perfectly. They showed up on the date of the move on the day they guaranteed, and sure enough did everything for us all we had to do was let the guys in. We were moving all the way from California to Louisiana , and they managed to get it done in a weeks time. They maintained contact with us throughout the move to ease all of our worries and keep us updated as to the progress of our move. The worst moving company I have ever used. It starts off great. Gabby the rep says all the right things. The price is right. Then when they actually move you the price doubles. They want Cash previous to Delivery. They neglect to tell you that that actual move in date you specify isn't the date you get.. it is somewhere within 20 days of that date. They show up with a truck that either can't clear your driveway or the electrical wires and then charge you an additional fee in cash ($500 in our case) to receive your things via another truck so it takes hours maybe days to still receive. Then Gabby will be snarky and tell you you should have read the fine print on the contract but takes no responsibility for not explaining these very important and specific points to you. They are dishonest, unethical and rude. Crooks as far as we are concerned. Very dishonest behavior. DO NOT USE THEM. read more

I just want to post a glowing review because Beefcake came yesterday to pick up our stuff during what has been one of the most excruciatingly stressful times in my adult life, due to various reasons including a recent surgery that left me unable to do much packing or prep. Gabby was incredibly patient and helpful in creating an inventory (even when I hadn't packed yet) that would reflect what would be getting shipped, and the guys who came to load the truck were very nice and patient, efficient and informative of how the pricing works if we wanted to add anything to the load, so there wouldn't be additional costs. They even waited while we got a cheaper mattress bag from U-haul, and came back to pick something up that had been left. There was some question as to whether the platform of a platform bed-frame would be considered part of the bed frame or if it was really a sort of modified box-spring, but they graciously came back to pick it up and packed it as part of the bed frame, if for no other reason than that it had not been clarified before-hand. The fact that they recognized that it should have been explained to me and that the bed-frame would be useless to me without it, if there was any additional cost (i don't know if there was) they absorbed that and packed it anyway. That to me is a sign of a good business ethic beyond the friendly and patient customer service that was evident right away. read more

I moved to CA from NY in October 2015, the moving company we hired, Van-lines was horrible. We rented for a little while then bought a home in Valencia. I had some moving companies come out for new move estimates and they all sounded like a return of my nightmare from Van-lines but i had to move so I picked one. At the 11th hour i decided to call for one more estimate and called Beefcake. Sean came to my house for the estimate and I could tell this was different, human, real and no Bull #$%^. I cancelled my original movers and went with beefcake hoping my instincts were right. I was right. The 4 guys who moved us were awesome. I felt bad because we had a piano that was going up a flight of stairs... it was tough and a tiny bit of paint was scratched on the walls so Sean came out that weekend to patch it up. My total price was a little off when we paid at the end so I called Gabby the next morning and she said yep, they estimated more drive time and it was off so they drove me out a refund check to my new home. So like really? does it get any better then that? I highly recommend beefcake, a moving company can really mess you up if your not careful so do your homework and dont always go for the fasted or the cheapest, buying new stuff costs more! read more

I had to find a moving company to move a large desk from California to Florida for my boss within a certain timeframe. I called many many moving companies to get rates and conditions for the move. Beefcake was not the cheapest moving company but they were to only one that listened to my individual needs and found a way to make the unusual move work out. They are a family owned business and every time I called I spoke with a familiar voice who knew what the situation was. The men who came to pack up the desk went out of their way to get this desk out of the building which included removing doors and reinstalling them! These guys were available at all hours and kept me informed all through the move. Exceptional service and very nice people. I couldn't recommend them higher! read more

We used them to move from California to Oklahoma. They had 5 or 6 people loading boxes and furniture. They loaded our belongings on a Monday and didn't communicate with us that they would not be leaving California until Thursday or Friday. We were moving into our new apartment Friday. That did not happen. We finally get ready to receive our belongings the following Tuesday. They tell us the day before that we are to pay the remaining balance in cash or a money order from the post office. They don't take them from the bank and they don't take credit cards which is what we paid the first 2/3 of the moving fee with without an issue. It is 2 hours later in Oklahoma than California, so by the time we received this information about payment, the banks were closed. We had to wait until the following day to get funds. This would not have been a big deal except that I had to work the day of the delivery and was bringing the money after work. Two men showed up to deliver our belongs. (Only two people to unload our belongings - one of which come to find out they hired from Craigslist!) They could not begin unloading the truck until I came home from work an hour and a half later, and of course the charge for that was another $50 per hour. We watched from the window as they carelessly dropped boxes on the ground. The first crew that took apart our furniture didn't bother to communicate with the next crew (the 2 people) where they put our furniture legs. A table, a couch, the bed, and a leather chair all without legs and other pieces. Craigslist guy decided he was tired and went home, so now we have one guy trying to find legs and put together furniture. It took about 6 hours before the mover had everything. We never found 2 of the legs to our leather chair. My husband kept telling the guy that it looked like we were missing a box. They guy kept saying no we weren't. Well, we were missing a box after all, which of course they refuse to deal with since they say they were all accounted for. Thank goodness they had insurance right? Wrong. Their worthless insurance was so many cents per pound. What? So our leather chair they lost the legs for would have been like $100 if that much if they had not been able to order legs which they say are on their way. They broke a lamp which they paid us $30. Wow! This was the first time we used movers and it will be the last time we use this company. So, about 5 minutes after I posted this review, they called to tell us they were not going to send the chair legs or the $30 for the lamp they broke and to just file it all on the 60 cents per pound insurance. This action says more than my entire review about the kind of people you will be dealing with if you use their moving service. read more

My initial communication was via a website requesting a bid to move. I immediately received 12 responses from various moving companies, Beefcake being one of them. I received an initial estimate of $1040. After I sent my checklist, Gabbie revised my bid to $1683. I said I was waiting for another bid but will make a decision tomorrow. She got very rude (all via email) and said to not bother with them if I am not serious about moving. I politely explained what happened, and that I am moving. She replied even more rudely and so I told her thank you for your time, but I will remove her from my list. Her reply was "Good!".
