    Small pizza

Apparently Beggars changed the size of their delivery pizza without letting anyone know or posting it on their menu - but did not change the prices. THIS is disrespectful for a size small pizza! It looks more like an individual sized pizza! NOT cool Beggars - not cool at all! :((((

Beggars Pizza is a short walk from Union Station so we stopped in after getting off a train. The guy behind the counter was super friendly! We were able to get pizza by the slice and a salad. The pizza special was a large slice of sausage and vegetable pizza. My husband ordered a slice of sausage deep dish. We split a Caesar salad and got two sodas although it looks like beer is available. The restaurant is a little run down and based on the traffic when we were there my guess is the majority of their business is from weekday lunchtime. Overall, if you are at Union Station and want to go somewhere nearby, give Beggars Pizza a try.

Great pizza, good prices, fast and friendly service and the other items are also good. People have big opinions on pizza here, but you can always get people to agree on beggars.

    Nasty trash garbage..

I'm from Connecticut where the beast pizza resides..in my travels I stopped here for one slice and the worst nasty shot box pizza I ever had in my life that i wouldn't even feed to my dog..hear a lot of raves about Chicago pizza but it's sub par...47 of the 48 states don't know what a real pizza is.. Your food is truck stop garbage!!!!!! Negative one star

Always busy during lunch time. Salads are made fresh to order but pizza slices are hot and ready to go. I grabbed a deep dish spinach slice and it was pretty good. We were told that if we grabbed something fast and brought it back to class that we could get out early. Leaving early is always a plus. Most of us grabbed a slice of pizza.

Decided to check out Beggars since I was in the mood for some pizza and this location is right next to Union Station and my office. I knew nothing about it before going in. I was very pleasantly surprised. It is a very large restaurant with plenty of seating and they have pre-made slices to save you a lot of time. I went with a couple of pre-made slices, one deep dish and one regular so I could try both and I thought they were pretty good. Perhaps not as good as some of my favorite places but a darn fine meal. Each slice was around $4 or $5 each so I think my total lunch was around $10 which is pretty good for an ample amount of food downtown.

very disappointed in my order I ordered a medium sausage pizza with half onion and green peppers. the onions and green peppers were just thrown on top of the pizza instead of cooked into like it supposed to be. Me and wife order from here several times and this was a very disappointing pizza

The pizza has 4 toppings and it does not bend when I hold it up in the air because the crust is burnt hard.

I loved their pizza until 1 week ago. I got a pizza with the crust burnt on the bottom, it was crunchy like a cracker. I did notify them that I wasn't happy with it. I went back 2 weeks later giving them another try, the pizza was cooked properly but I think they're using a different pizza dough or they're making the crust too thin, it was crunchy like a cracker or cheap dough, it was like cardboard. The pizza needed some seasoning (cumin, oregano Italian seasoning) it tasted bland. I used to be a Home Run Inn pizza lover and will go back to Home Run Inn pizza because I don't like the cardboard dough and bland taste @ Beggars lately. , I've been eating here for the past 2 years but something has changed behind the scene.

I would really rather give it a 3.5 but oh well! Anyways, it's really convenient location because it's right next to Union Station and is a nice quick bite to eat. The pizza is probably better when fresh, but unfortunately I got it cold by the slice. While I didn't think the "thin crust" (it's not really thin crust) pizza wasn't great, I thoroughly enjoyed their deep dish pizza. Service was quick but I did have to ask to get a code for the bathroom. There is a medium sized seating area inside too with some flatscreens for watching games. Overall, I'd go back for that deep dish especially if I was taking a train out of union station. And yes, they do "lay it on think" like their slogan says lol.

Attention Amtrak riders, this location is right across the street from Union Station! I was excited to learn I could get pizza right before my train ride and even better, they sell it by the slice! No waiting an hour! Yessss! Pizza was delicious!!!

We ordered the pepperoni deep dish and the pepperoni tavern style. The deep dish arrives in a cast iron pan, featuring caramelized crust that edges on burnt for a perfect, crispy crunch. The base is thick and doughy, layered with some mozzarella, a tasty sauce, and slightly charred pepperoni. The tavern style provides a nice contrast. Served cut into squares, it has a solid thin crust that holds up nicely under some melted cheese and loads of flat pepperoni. This remains my absolute favorite deep dish in Chicago, and I go anytime I'm in town visiting. Pro tip: Make a reservation well in advance because walk-in wait times get incredibly long.

I had high expectations for this place but it was honestly underwhelming. The pizza had too much cheese, extra costs for adding toppings, and the crust was nothing memorable. Appetizers were good. Overall, I really wanted to like this place but it wasn't there as a tourist who's had pizza from different parts in the US. It was a nice try as a first and last time.

However we arrived earlier than scheduled and we ended up getting settled at our hotel so we walked and went in early. We arrived at 4pm and they let us in - was perfect because it wasn't busy. It's my son's first visit to Chi-town so I think this is a good first meal. We got the Chicago meatballs so we can eat something as the deep dish pizza takes 30 mins. The meatballs are flavorful and filled us up until we get our pizza. We picked the Malnati's Chicago classic - medium. The butter crust is really good and the cheese to meet ratio is balanced. While it is deep dish - it didn't feel like it's super thick, I think the butter crust was the difference. It was quiet when we arrived and we were seated in the dining area by the back in the ground level. There was only 1 group and another couple when we arrived so it wasn't loud. I'm sure when it's peak hours it'll be more festive and busy. Great first meal - order some starters if you're hungry. Medium was quite big for 2 people but good if you want to have some slices to-go.

We came with a party of six and had a reservation for six, but our table felt more appropriate for four people. The restaurant itself is spacious, so it was disappointing that we felt so cramped. We started with the calamari, which I really enjoyed. The batter was light and crispy without feeling greasy. We also shared the seafood pizza, duck prosciutto pizza, cup and char pepperoni pizza, and the gnocchi. All three pizzas were delicious, with very thin and crispy crusts. The seafood pizza came with a soup or broth that you could pour over it, which was nice and it also came with so much seafood. The cheese was slightly firm, but the pizza was still flavorful and enjoyable. The duck prosciutto had a noticeable duck aroma, melty cheese, and a rich, savory flavor. The cup and char pepperoni pizza was satisfying as well, especially the pepperoni with its crisp, curled edges. The gnocchi was another standout. It was satisfyingly chewy with a great texture and bold flavor. We finished with the tiramisu, which was light, balanced, and not overly sweet. Overall, the food was delicious and the waterfront setting made for a lovely dinner. I just wish we had been seated at a more comfortable table for our party size.
