We had a reservation for 7pm, but were not seated until 7:30pm. No real apology for the wait. They did find space at the bar to sit and wait. They were out of the main dish that 3 of the 4 in our party wanted to order. One in our party ordered a strawberry lemonade to drink and they were also out of that. It still showed up on our check and we had to alert the server who did remove it. I would have expected the manager to come to our table being they knew our reservation was delayed for 30 minutes and the multiple menu items being out. No compensation offered or an apology. Because we were seated so late, the restaurant seemed to be closing before we finished eating and felt rushed. The food was fine, nothing to write home about. My soup was served lukewarm. The blueberry bread pudding was the stand out of the meal. Most likely would not return or recommend to others. read more

Wow! I am so glad we were finally able to eat here. My only regret is that we didn't come sooner! The food was incredible! My daughter had the poke bowl which was delicious and she said she would give it again. We also had the chilaquiles - the sauce was so delicious and the pork was perfect I'm not even a big pork eater. Their blue corn grits were so creamy and flavorful. The space is smaller but super cute and cozy and there's a patio. Our server, Hannah, was so nice! On our way out we met the manager (I'm actually not sure what his position was) Ben and he was also so friendly and nice! We can't wait to come back! read more

We had a bit of trouble finding Beginner's Luck because it was tucked away in a little nook in Old Town, but it was well worth the trouble. I saw that they had the old Cowboy Ciao's salad, same chef renamed the chop salad. I haven't had one since Cowboy Ciao closed. The hostess literally guided us step by step to our destination and my husband and I both ordered the salad. Just as we remembered. More importantly our server, Jaidyn, anticipated our every need. The service and staff were friendly and helpful throughout our time there. I had the Poke and was very pleased with it. I had to try the blue corn grits as I'm always a fan of grits. Great flavors and loved the addition of the jalapenos for a little heat. My wife had the burger which was cooked perfectly along with a side of cucumber and yogurt. We were skeptical at first but it was really good. We closed out the evening with the raspberry cake. Man, talk about good! The key lime cheesecake frosting added a nice touch. Adorable restaurant love the Gladly group but our first time here was disappointing. Brussels sprouts app I have had a million times at Gladly but here they were so hard the table knife wouldn't go through them. Peach tea was not the standard I'm thinking they were out and it was black tea. The poke bowl was good as was the original salad but service was spotty or over kill. I've heard it has a great brunch. Maybe they should stick with that. Will go elsewhere next time. read more

Loved the ambience, vibe, location & most importantly the constant checking in from the staff including the owner (I believe he was also the chef) I can't tell you how much customers appreciate that personal check in, goes a long way! We loved that as we left the owner seemed genuine in thanking us & saying he appreciated us coming in. We stumbled upon this lil'gem in the cute alley way. We wished we had more time to try their food but we did try their desserts (which was a short list of just 3 items) and we had their coffee; coffee with a unique flavor! We're big coffee drinkers from Brooklyn,NY.. "CAW-Fee" haha & we usually are disappointed when we travel & can't get a good cup of coffee when vacationing. I have to say Scottsdale seems to like their coffee weak & watery (as we've tried coffee every where, there) however this place satisfied us, yes, FINALLY, we found a good spot! I hate to say I wasn't crazy about their raspberry cake as it seemed to be like a red velvet, I'm not a fan of red velvet (it didn't have that description in the menu) so I expected different but most people like red velvet, that's just not my personal preference. Found this place on Yelp and saw all the great reviews and wanted to give it a try. We went during WMPO weekend and expected a crowd or wait, but luckily were seated immediately. The service was a little spotty as there was a delay in the time we ordered apps and entrees. We tried the sweet focaccia of the day and it was good but a little yeasty for my liking. I wish it had more cinnamon and a thicker coating of icing. I ordered the egg and potato breakfast and my partner ordered the egg sandwich. He throughly enjoyed his, but mine was mediocre. The potatoes and eggs were unseasoned and needed lots of salt and pepper. After having a few bites of the potatoes I noticed my plate was extremely wet from the oil of the potatoes (they were pooled in oil). I couldn't eat the rest because it was a bit gross. I had really high hopes and maybe I ordered the wrong thing but I can't say I will be back again. read more

I was lucky enough to check this place out while I was in town visiting some friends. The location is perfect! Right in the heart of old town. There is a great outdoor space to enjoy the amazing weather Scottsdale has to offer while you dine as well as a beautiful interior and bar area where you can see and smell the magic happening in the kitchen. We were welcomed warmly by the hostess and shown to our table inside. Our server Kya, gave us a tour of the food menu and the cocktails. She was able to answer all of our questions and provided some great recommendations. While we sipped our Chai-rish iced coffee, we started with the Lucky 7 cereal bowl. It's a magical creation of blue corn grits and chia pudding with fruits and granola. We wouldn't have ordered this without watching Kya's face light up when she described it and I ended up coming back the next day for this new addiction. Order it. After that we went on a little tour and shared the Eggplant Shakahouka, Gypsy Toast and the Monster Linguisa Kolache. Try the Eggplant! It was complex and delicious, even people that don't normally enjoy eggplant will love this beautiful dish. I had never experienced these flavors or chermoula before and I was blown away. The Gypsy toast is thick and surprisingly large in presentation, but this is not to be compared to French Toast, it's so much better than that. The bread is crispy on the outside and soft and cloud like in the center. What a treat, I shouldn't have shared it! The Kolache was delicious and the size was truly "monster". I was thinking how nice it would be to grab one to go and enjoy while strolling through old town on my next visit. We then ordered some more drinks; a couple Hibiscus 75's and a sorbet mimosa. We also did the unthinkable and ordered more food. We finished off this epic brunch adventure with the Breakfast Burrito Special. Pork, egg and a Hatch Green Chili sauce with crema. Good grief. This needs to be a permanent fixture. The pork was perfectly cooked and delicious. That burrito was gone before the plate could even cool off. Everything was so good that I repeated my visit the next day to enjoy not just the bowl but the Avocado Toast and the BLT. Again amazing service, this time by Ashton and I sat on the patio. This spot is going to blow up, I cannot wait to come back to town and try everything else on the menu. Chef James and Ben were so accommodating to our curiosities during the first visit and Matt, the manager is everywhere with smiles and eyes on every table. Awesome new place in Scottsdale! I really disagree with some of the lower ratings here. My husband got the pork bowl and it was pretty much exactly like it was described on the menu. We ordered the burrata as a starter and it was AWESOME!! Really a phenomenal combination of flavors and I would order it time and time again. Our server was Rachel and she was fantastic. She thought ahead and made sure we had everything we needed. She was fast, kind, and thorough. We enjoyed sitting on the patio, and the overall vibe was calm and exactly what we were looking for.
