Unless you have a reservation, good luck. I walked up to put my name in and there were maybe 5 tables sat around 10:05am, I was asked if we could be done by 11 since they were going to need the table for a reservation, but I didn't want to be rushed since it was my first visit. The hostess offered to put my name on the list but the wait was going to be 45+ mins for 5 people. There were plenty of tables open but apparently had all reservations coming at that time. Not sure what the food is like or the ambiance but most likely won't go back to find out. read more

Stumbled into this amazing gem and so glad I gave it a shot! The food was incredible, the Chef, bartender, and servers were all pleasant and had great energy. We had the Lucky Burger and Pork Bowl. The burger had so much flavor and there was nothing regular about it. I'm not a big pork person but all the flavors in the Pork bowl along with the pork itself were the flavor combo I didn't no I needed. Can't forget to mention the Raspberry Cake for dessert, one of the best cake/desserts I've ever had and washed down with the perfect Espresso Martini! Finally got to the new "Beginner's Luck," the new restaurant brought to you by the folks that brought us "The Gladly & Citizen Public House!" Went w/my son, Scott, for breakfast this morning. What a great, new find. Marissa was our server. She was very courteous, & a true restaurant rising star in the service industry! My son had the BLT & I tried the French toast. It was like biting into a cloud. The syrup was the best I've ever had, anywhere. I'm already making plans on going back for lunch & dinner! There's room for dining inside & I hear that they're real close to putting in a mister system on the spacious patio. Put this joint on a top 5 list of places to try as soon as you can! Great food and the service. was the best I ever had anywhere in Scottsdale, the food prices were good came back the next day for a couple of years, shocked how many staff we're working friday afternoon with very few customers, the only problem I seen while sitting at bar was the kitchen staff on there cell phones, eating in the kitchen and wiping there faces without washing there hands. read more

I really liked the location, set back from the hustle, and sitting outside was nice. Food was served quickly and delicious. I had the egg and turkey sausage breakfast sandwich. I wasn't prepared for an actual sausage, but it tasted excellent. Server was friendly but not very outgoing or welcoming. They have only been open a few weeks, so maybe they are still finding their groove. Will be back to try some lunch options. read more

If I had to choose one place to eat for the rest of my life: Beginner's Luck. I'm seriously salivating as I write this. Whether you go for a romantic date night or brunch with the girls, you will go home with the most happy belly ever. I don't know what they add to their food, but it must be either magic or love. In this review, I would give them as many stars as humanly possible. This place is an up-and-coming place in Scottsdale. I was there in July 2024. The staff is very friendly accommodating and the food is phenomenal. I ordered the Poké bowl and it was wonderful. It was so good that I even came back a second day for the same thing. It unfortunately was Beginner's UNluck for us the other evening. Asked for an outside table and were told that all were reserved (but five empty tables in the cool patio area remained empty the entire time we were there). It took 10 min. to get a glass of wine even though the cheerful staff outnumbered the diners. The recommended shrimp/crab roll came on a dry, cold bun that tasted like it was rescued from a hot dog stand a day before. Our conclusion is that BL is probably great for breakfast or brunch, but not so much for dinner. Having enjoyed the Gladly for years and considering it one of our PHX favorites, this first visit to BL was in a word "Unlucky". read more

Great cappuccino and space. Nice service. Ordered the pork bowl. Grits had zero flavor or texture. The pork was 50% fat so I had to use my fingers to pull all the fat off to know what was edible. For $24 it should've been done for the customer with only edible parts. The raw cucumber was off putting with a hot dish. The best part was the side of salsa I asked for which was the only flavor I could find on the plate. Would definitely return for a cup of coffee but I did not like the dish at all. read more

The ambiance is very cute and peaceful since the restaurant is not too big and offers an open floor plan with outdoor tables. The french toast and the salad were amazing. Coffee is good too. The pork left more to be desired. 100% would revisit. read more
