oh. em. gee. best pasta i've ever had in my life…read more i was looking online for an italian restaurant and this came up multiple times. first off, the interior is gorgeous, plush green seats and antique style. we ordered their special items of the night: lobster risotto and the vodka veal. genuinely the best risotto i've ever had. the people online were not lying when they said their vodka rigatoni was the best. it was indeed very very delicious. even though all of us were full from the pasta, we still had to get tiramisu. it was a perfect way to end the meal. our server was great and attentive, thank you for a wonderful meal.

The chicken marsala was absolutely perfect, still steaming on the plate as she placed it before me. I told myself I would only eat half the dish and take the rest back to my hotel for snacking later. However, my taste buds are not allow me to stop feasting on this Italian delicacy. If you're ever in the area, don't worry about the other Italian restaurants in the downtown, although I am sure that they are well and good, but Giacomo's is well worth your consideration. My only regret is that I only have one more night here to try another one of their delectable dishes.

There weren't too many apps that caught my eye, particularly lacking veggies. Service is on the ruder side. They automatically add 20% tip to your bill.

Terrible restaurant, terrible racist service. Don't go here! Went out for dinner with my friend and her parents. They're all originally from India. My friend called to make the reservation using my name and was able to make one without issue. However, when we got there (Her father and I were walking behind a bit) the owner (the rude bald guy referenced in so many posts) tried to pretend we didn't have a reservation. He changed his tune once I got there and begrudgingly sat us. I'll point out at this point the restaurant was more them half empty. Then, after the waitress (Short dark haired older woman named Lucy, she's also the owner's mother) being rude about us having to change out a gross glass, she treated my friend and her family like garbage. Wouldn't make eye contact, speak to them, and tried rushing them. We decided to tip based on our experience. I was planing on leaving nothing, however my friend's dad is much more forgiving and we left just over 5%. The waitress then chased us out onto the sidewalk and demanded to know if there was something wrong with the food. I told her no, it was based on her service. She then looked at my friend and her sweet mother and gave them the most vile look and said "It's in their nature. The blacks." Insanely vile racist service. I wish I could give negative stars. I hope as many people see this as possible. If you can imagine somebody treating your mother like that then you'll know how my friend felt that night, I hope you don't give them your hard earned money. read more

I have never been treated so badly in a restaurant before. My girlfriend and I went here, because it was almost empty..now I know that is a bad thing. Our host was this rather rude and snippy woman who looked at us like we were up to no good. She thinks shes doing us a favor by serving us. Our waiter was, as others have mentioned, a big scary bald guy. We asked for bread and we were told that we "MUST NOT" touch our bread until we ordered. (wtf) girlfriend asks for pasta dish without mushrooms The response? "No." What kind of establishment is this? So after we ordered and the food was brought out, The bald scary waiter noticed that I had done something unforgivable: I had not put my napkin on my lap. He then forcibly throws it on my lap. "Didn't your mother teach you manners?" Apparently I had not arranged my forks and knives in the correct order on the table. Thankfully I had i nice waiter to tell me how its done! :) we didn't even touch our food. AWFUL EXPERIENCE & EXTREMELY RACIST!!!! Worst dining experience of my life. I went in with my friends, and we waited in the front for a good 10 minutes. There was no hostess stand, and the kitchen staff/ waiters just kind of stared at us, so we assumed that we were supposed to seat ourselves. We were seated for a good five minutes when the owner (or manager) came over, and started yelling at us making a complete scene! She was FURIOUS that we sat ourselves. I calmly apologized, explaining that we were just confused about seating, and she continued to harass us! She screamed, "This isn't McDonald's you can't seat yourself", and then looked at my asian friend, and said, "If I went to CHINATOWN I wouldn't walk into a restaurant & just seat myself!!!" We were shocked to hear so much hate! I worked in the food industry in Manhattan, and know that even if the customer is wrong you NEVER EVER act that way. Please do not support this restaurant, as the staff (or at least the staff we encountered) is rude, and most importantly hateful & ignorant. read more

Bad experience- Me and my girlfriend walked in on a Saturday night and were seated in the corner with other tables available the entire time we were dining. A waitress served a couple who came in after us first, and then had a different waitress come serve us after what seemed like 10 minutes. Both waitresses appeared unfriendly. We got calamari as an appetizer, and it was very bland. Then it took over half an hour to bring out our main dishes. The chicken parm seems chewy. I ordered veal but I think they gave me ham instead. The food was delicious but the attitude from the waiter was so bad it actually made it uncomfortable being there. When asked if we could split our bill, we got told that it was against their policy and we would have to figure it out ourselves when a simple no would have sufficed.Fortunately there was only two of us so it wasn't a big deal but the response was irritating. When our food came I pushed my napkin aside to make way for the plate to which he shoved my napkin at me and said "Don't you use hese where you're from?" I'd like to start with the ambiance. I think that Mamma Maria is nestled in the best, most quaint spot of North End. The food in the service were also incredible.
