The waitress demanded a larger tip out loud to me in front of the other guests. She also ignored the cash tip I gave to the chef. She did nothing but bring water yet demanded a bigger tip, It was ridiculous and embarrassing. Furthermore when I got my statement the tip was changed. Try BOTH the mustard and ginger sauce with your meal - each gives such an amazing flavor to the food RESERVATIONS: through Open Table - HIGHLY recommended They have updated their "show" with a little flare to begin the dinner and while preparing the food and then while you eat they do the volcano, shrimp tail flips, etc. Which I LOVE because you end up waiting a LONG time to eat before. I've been coming to Benihana yearly for so long that I've seen their birthday coupon change over the years. This location, I've come to since 2010. I've had some excellent and bad experiences and some show-stopping chefs and some chefs that make you want to crawl into a hole it's so awkward lol. But, in the end, I keep coming back and they do make changes every year. They definitely picked up their pace this last visit as we had chicken fried rice orders, seafood and steak and our chef was able to appropriately manage all items and the food was AMAZING! SCALLOPS: If you are a scallop lover or even loosely love scallops, I cannot recommend these enough. No matter what chef I have they always cook them AMAZINGLY. Not chewy even in the slightest and the flavor is amazing. I introduced both my Dad and my Mother-in-Law to their scallops and they continue to report how good their scallops were MOJITOs: I have tried both the mango and coconut mojitos. The coconut is my favorite as it is not as sweet as the mango and refreshing. The mango is still a decent second, but as an absolute mango LOVER I am always picky about the taste of mango (fresh mango versus mango flavor) this one doesn't taste like FAKE mango per say, I just find the coconut one more refreshing! DURATION: this has always been a 2-hour or longer dine time. However, now with the upgrades to the show, our last experience was a lot shorter. NOTE: the entire month of December is a mad-house no matter what time you go for dinner (I haven't tried for lunch yet). So, planning accordingly is helpful. If you have someone gluten-free at your table, they cook their food first, so it takes a little longer to get your food. If you want a faster dine, the seafood is the first on the hibachi and fastest to cook, so you'll get served faster In general, the floors aren't SPOT clean consiering they're bringing food in/out of the kitchen all the time. But, I guess I go here not expecting an A-list experience and I think for what you pay for the food, the experience and the atmosphere is all appropriate and keeps me coming back. read more

We came here for my husbands birthday, party of 5 adults and our 8 month old daughter. The service was great! Our waitress, Amelia, was awesome! Very friendly, attentive, patient and answered all of our questions! The young man that cooked our food was very nice as well. They sang happy birthday in English and Japanese for my husband at the end. We all had a great time, didn't have to wait for anything and didn't feel rushed in any way. Fool Me Once, Shame on You...Fool me Twice? My first experience (about two weeks ago) at this location was sub-par, to put it nicely. Our server, who seemed new, took a long time to bring us our apps and drinks. Trying to give Chandler another chance, my friend and I arrived for our 6 PM reservation tonight and was immediately seated. That was about the best part of the night. Our server (we'll call them "Alpha") took our drink and appetizer orders without a hitch. We chat with our tablemates and I look at my watch, and it's 6:45 - no chef. No salads. No appetizers. The table next to us, seated some 20 minutes after we were, had their drinks, salads, place settings, and their chef had just rolled into his station. After eating my sushi with my hands, I resorted to get chopsticks by asking the hostess if she could bring our table some. She brought two - when I asked for them for our table. At 6:55, our Chef finally chowed up only moments after us flagging down the manager and inquiring and asking (a second time) for chopsticks for our tablemates. At 7:06, as Chef was working on our meals, we finished our salads and sushi and neatly stacked our dishes on the corner for "Alpha" to easily pick up. They ignored this neat pile for two checkins and on the third, we had to resort to the awkward pickup and eye contact. After we received our bills at 7:39, it took a full 15 minutes to get them picked up and one of our tablemates inquired about Happy Hour prices. We were informed that it was only for the lounge and bar - which is understandable. We briefly all clarified with each other (in front of Alpha) and she came back with adjusted bills for that couple, but not the rest of us - who ALL had otherwise Happy Hour eligible items. We didn't bring it up and just paid and left. Honestly, I'm terribly disappointed in Chandler, but even more irritated at myself for giving this location another chance, but I do feel somewhat at ease that this wasn't the only time this is an issue because having read the reviews on here, I see I'm not alone! read more

My nephew's birthday was pretty well ruined by this Bennihana. To be honest I am loathe to give bad reviews but the was really beyond the pale of bad and super expensive. We had a reservation for 7pm on at Thursday the host was lost and we didn't get seated till 30 min later. The server didn't take our order till about 8pm, he frequently forgot our order and messed up our drinks. The server then forgot to take down or lost our actual dinner order. They were down chefs and by the time the chef appeared it was already 9 pm. My nephew told the chef he was interested in cooking, which ended up being a mistake because the chef spent the rest of the time telling us how awesome he was at cooking, while stirring at the grill. He talked the rest of the time and we politely smiled as the food we already waited 2.5 hours for was drenched in oil and handed to us. The server then forgot the cake that we brought ( with their permission ahead of time) . On top of that, the state of the restaurant was not as clean as it should have been. The bathrooms were particularly gross. After 3 hours and having spent nearly $800 between the 9 of us , we were all pretty upset. Save your money! Once seated, our waitress came over to take our drinks and appetizer orders. Drinks and appetizers came out quickly and we all placed our orders.. Las Vegas roll Sashimi platter Two Benihana trios Hibachi steak Spicy hibachi steak Rockys steak and shrimp Kids steak and shrimp The Las Vegas roll was so good! Dip it in the soy sauce and bam, party in your mouth! I kinda wanted to just eat the Vegas roll all night long! Okay, so the food is pretty simple. You get rice, (either steamed white or chicken fried rice) and of course a protein or proteins. My Benihana trio consisted of shrimp, steak, and chicken with the chicken fried rice. It was a five course meal so we also got a soup to start with and then came the salad, then the rice, shrimp appetizer, our meats, mushrooms, and then our onions. The only ingredients they seem to use are garlic butter, garlic, salt, pepper, soy sauce, and sesame seeds. Nothing too fancy but the flavor is good. All in all, what your really paying for is for the experience and the food is just what you get from it. We spent about $200 for a party of 8 so it can be pricey, but hey they put on a good show! read more

I want to start by saying I love this place. I haven't been there in a year or two. As I remembered the service was terrible. Dinner takes two hours. It's always slow. No drink refills. No rice and the chef is already plating your meal. Salad full of water and the dressing is watered down. Still I love this place. More alarming was tonights meal. The fillet tasted beefy. I should have sent it back or asked the chef to make me something else. Not a good sign. When restaurants start serving beefy tasting meat usually this is followed by them going out of business. Now the problem. I barely. Made it home and to the bathroom. You know the slow walk not sure if you will make it. My stomach hurt. The good news is that after ten plus minutes in the restroom I felt better so it wasn't food poison. The wife also had to run to the bathroom. I can't but help wonder if others eating there last night had the same problem. The chef we had before and he was always great in the past but last night he didn't seem to put much effort forward. I can't imagine the sanitation issue was caused by him. But something isn't right there. Hope it gets addressed. read more

The place is dirty , honestly looks like it hasn't had a good deep clean in years, the more I looked around the more disgusted I became ( the women's bathrooms felt like the inside of a circle k bathroom) , The server and chef were both nice however the food was just BLAND, first off they upcharge you 6.50 per person for "fried rice " when in fact it should be included in your meal (shady) Their was absolutely nothing fried about this rice, seriously the fact that everything you eat tastes the exact same (rice, veggies, filet, couldn't tell you the difference between each item it was all under seasoned and just bland !!! Benihana is our choice for occasional night outs and always for a family birthday celebration. Our reservation was for 6:30 pm. We were seated at 6:45 pm but did not see a chef for over an hour. Chef did a good job; waitress was ok as I had to ask other servers to send her over as she must have had tables on the other side of the restaurant as we didn't see her often enough or didn't see her serving other tables in our vicinity. I will start by saying this is still somewhere we enjoy some teppanyaki from time to time and normally have great, quality, food. I have spent my last three birthdays here and many, many date nights with hubby in between. I'm heartbroken to say this place is not the same without manager, Ryan and Chef, Jefrey (aka "Chefrey")- the portions have been inconsistent and our kids and I miss seeing those familiar faces; those two men genuinely cared about their customers and their service. Rieko and Juan helped our table out. They were very attentive and really trying to stay on top of refills. It was a full house that night! Look possibly under staffed but man did they make it work! The food was excellent and cooked to perfection. The veggies were so different then when I had gone to a Benihana in California (back in the early 2000's) haha. I loved them though amazing and you can't go wrong with sesame seeds!!! Juan was so fun to watch cook. He made my mom jump several times, even though he was trying to get a kids reaction. To say the least we had a great time and we were so stuffed!! HOWEVER, unfortunately I have to add how the night ended. This brings me to the 5 star review that I think is really a 4.5 star. Rieko and Juan deserve a 5 star though which I had left for them. My only negative: When we were walking to the front after being so stuffed and had a great evening we never had gotten a "have a great night." I'm not sure why these two ladies never acknowledged us. I think they were too into their conversation with each other about how someone is not texting one of them back. However, my husband and I who have worked in a grocery store knows the importance of leaving a final impression. We were at the front desk finding a toothpick and they both kept on with their conversation, not even turning from each other trying to hide it. Hopefully next time we come we have a better ending.
