This will be my shortest review to date, but this Ralphs location has become my favorite Ralphs in…read morethe Valley for many reasons, especially today. I called the Seafood Department to place an order for some fried fish. I had called last Friday around 7:30 p.m. to order fish, but it was too late. Anyway, Adrian (sorry if I misspelled your name, sir) answered the phone and was very polite and courteous while taking my order. Now, this is a "you buy, we fry" service inside a grocery store, so I wasn't quite sure if I could call in an order. But after my last visit, where I placed an order and walked around the store while the fish was frying, I honestly didn't see why they wouldn't allow it. I originally wanted catfish fillets, but they were out. Adrian offered catfish nuggets as a substitute, but I passed. I then asked for red snapper or rockfish, but they had neither. I moved on to cod, but at $19.99 a pound, I said, "Not today." Finally, he told me they had tilapia for $10.99 a pound, so I ordered two pounds. He asked what seasoning I wanted, and I told him I wanted to try all three -- Cajun, lemon pepper, and one other that I can't remember. He told me it would be ready in 12 minutes, and when I arrived 12 minutes later, it was ready! It was fresh, hot, and delicious. I could hardly wait to get back home and eat it all lol. I will definitely be back next weekend. Thanks again, Adrian. :-)

The produce and fruit prices here is unbeatable. They always have variety of things on sale specially their top sellers. Let's say cucumbers cost over $2.50 a pound in other markets and here it's almost always 99c a pound. Today I was surprised to see a 10 lbs bag of potatoes for $1.29 now that's crazy. Even though I don't buy non organic potatoes it's a great price for people that do. Apples 79c peaches 1.29 a pound which I stocked up on to freeze once they are ripe. I got bags of cherries for $1.29 a pound. Sweet and juicy cherries. I especially love the bulk section of dried fruits and nuts here. I always buy the dried fruits that are imported from Armenia such as sour plum, peach, apricots, pears and more. Love it They carry a wide selection of imported rice, legumes, pastas, olives etc.... Two isles of bread from pita to lavash to tortillas to ciabatta and more. The deli is amazing but I'm not crazy about the meat department. Customer service is average for a supermarket and finding parking here is always challenging. Overall a great place to shop for food specially for large families that want to save a bit of money.

I was faced with this Rude employee named Martin who tells me flat out that the employees of the store or at least Martin is not about Customer Service or the customers needs. Earlier I had walked by the tangerine booth. I saw that the bin was empty. I went over to Martin and ask him where are the tangerines located he pointed where they were. I looked over and I said the bin was empty and if they can fill it. Non-responsibly he struck his shoulders so I walked over to produce Manager and asked can they bring out fresh tangerines since the bin was empty. He said fine in 10 minutes. I continued with my shopping and 20 minutes later I came in and the bin was still empty so I went over to Martin and as I couldn't find the produce manager, I asked can they fill the bin he says when I get around to it so I walked over, found the produce manager, and I asked for the tangerines to be filled. The produces Manager went and ask Martin to do that. exactly 2 minutes later he walks up to the tangerine bin and tells me why did you go and asked the mgr for Tangerines? I told you I will get to it when I get to it. I told him that I had a doctors appointment that I've been waiting for 20 minutes and I'd like to finish my shopping to which he responded well we don't work around the customers schedule we work whenever we want to. This has left such a bad taste in my mouth and so contrary to my experience in Northridge. I hope the store manger pays attention to Martin and his lack of customer service attitude.

Needed a few things for the holidays, but also to stock up on the everyday and can I just say, F4L came through in lots of unexpected ways including in the frozen, produce and dairy sections, okkkkaaay!! The non-dairy milk was/is abundant from Almond to Coconut, Cashew to Rice, classic Soy and even Pea. Beyond grateful for all the Beyond Meat products at the BEST deal in town. Not to mention MorningStar, Impossible and everything in-between. Great snacks, juices, and so many 2 for 1 specials. We found parking right in front in their parking lot on the corner of Sherman Way/Hayvenhurst Avenue. All the staff was personable, even the security was quite the warm person during our visit. While some produce was low, we still managed to find fresh mushrooms and spinach. Shopping with my family we discovered a great bakery area as well, not mention a holiday cake for my mom, niece and nephews. I discovered cookie dough flavored Oreos and dairy free ice cream for myself. During the holidays and peak hours the parking lot is definitely still a zoo of sorts, but be patient, take your time and you'll get in and out easy. I'm not a frequenter of Food4Less locations with other reasonable places closer to me, but this is the closest location and one I'd recommend in the Lake Balboa area of L.A.'s San Fernando Valley, just off the 405 fwy passed the Van Nuys Airport. Typically open 6AM - 12AM/Midnight every day of the week with some differing/reduced hours on holidays. If you been to any Food4Less you know you self bag your groceries. Their plastic bags are super nice, clear and sturdy with the logo on each side. Good spirit selection, locked up in front. Also great wine and beer options, we definitely grabbed so things for Christmas and New Years. Hoping to return again soon for any and all occasions now that I know I've been sleeping on this grocery gem for a bit. I did frequent the Reseda and Canoga Park locations when I lived on the west side of the valley once upon a time ago, but this is definitely one of the more well put together and kept up locations.

I surprised the guy by not being guilty and was glad that Cindy from the Gelsons Staff was there as a witness but the incident has left me shaken and upset. There were also witnesses by the people who collect money for charity outside the back exit and am grateful that they were also present. Gelsons really has some employees with major personality flaws - not sure if it's a racial issue but you'll notice many others in reviews noting their profiling of racial groups - this is no longer a pleasant place to shop for me and I don't think I'll be back unless certain individuals are no longer at the store.

Inside the store is very clean and the shelves always stocked with everything I need. I feel like the customers here are friendlier than at other stores, people don't seem rushed and they actually smile and move their carts if they think they're blocking you from something in the aisle. I do feel though that frequently the lines are long and it's a little limited on how many they have checking people out. Allot of the cocktail cabinets are locked now, so when you want to purchase something for a cocktail you have to push a button and wait for one of the limited employees to be able to come to help. However other things like Beer are not locked. I don't remember seeing anything else locked in this store. I will say their produce is lacking (in my opinion) but for packaged goods and basic meats, it really is a great option. Don't sleep on it. The interior is really a no thrills kind of place. You're not really coming here for the decor though. I also find the checkout process an area that could be improved upon. Often times it gets backed up with the checkout people just wanting to get you through there without any concern for the previous customer who, more often than not, is still trying to get their items bagged up. But once again, you're coming here for good prices. You need to understand that there are going to be 'sacrifices' in other areas.

There's also a sushi counter where the rolls are made fresh daily. Juice bar right in the middle. It's a pretty big hot deli station with loads of premade dishes. Butcher section also has a big selection of meats. So many to choose from and it's alway fresh every time we stop by. Fresh from counter and package items. Don't forget the ceviche station when you're here. Produce are good with loads of items to choose from. The bakery is quite big as well with everything. Cakes, cookies, breads, pastries and so on. I also noticed that in the corner of the produce and bakery, there's a cute little candy store section. The displays were so cute with loads of Hispanic candies and toys. So cute. Isles are wide and they have pretty much everything. Some things do cost more than your regular supermarket which I was surprised about. Parking, it could be busy as the main lot isn't that big. She was upset about a small sample paper cup that was sitting inside the cart and accused them of throwing it there. The strange part is that my family member was still holding their own sample cup in their hand and told her that. Instead of realizing it may have been left there by someone else, the woman aggressively snatched the cup from her hand, and continued escalating the situation. The conversation was happening in Korean, and she began insulting them, saying they didn't even speak Korean and couldn't understand what she was saying. We are Korean by the way. All of this over a tiny paper sample cup that wasn't even theirs. The cashier seemed confused and was apologetic, clearly unsure why this woman was acting this way. What was more disappointing was that when it was brought to the owner or manager's attention, the response was dismissive. My family member was asked to let it go, not the worker It's concerning that someone felt comfortable physically reaching into a customer's cart and grabbing something from their hand, and that it was brushed off instead of addressed. Unfortunately, this isn't our first negative experience here. On a previous visit, we bought multiple cabbage that turned out to be rotten inside. I called immediately, took photos, and asked if I could return it. I was told yes, but the person on the phone sounded irritated, like it was somehow my fault. There are other options, like Galleria, where the produce is consistently fresher and the management is noticeably more attentive and welcoming. Very disappointing overall.
