    Interior - from the barstools
    Chris S.

A cool little time capsule of a diner! The staff was friendly and the food was pretty ok. Exactly what you'd expect from a diner. The coffee was acceptable, but a little higher quality roast probably wouldn't hurt. The prices reflected a normal breakfast restaurant, not a diner... but understandable in today's economic storm. The interior was a vintage 50's style with short bar tops and stools that I have to assume are original. The coolers were all chrome and had awesome hinges that match the timeframe. Nostalgic to say the least, although I wasn't alive in the 50's. Seating was tight and scarce. Overall, in a crunch, I'd visit again, but don't expect much more than ok food and friendly service. Which in my opinion, holds its own merits.

The lovely waitress sat with a customer who couldn't decide what to order! So sweet!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Simple basic breakfast food and a quaint atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But the absolute charming and caring and comical waitress is worth a visit! If we are ever back in this area, we will stop in. She made our day!

Have eaten here in the past. The food is good and portions are large. The service was a degree better than rude. Had to get up and ask for coffee refills. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was moderately busy - tables full, but no line.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]First impression, cute place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]But after picking up the disposable pepper shaker, I realized it was gross, salt shaker too, likely had never been wiped down[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I lost my appetite and started scrutinizing the place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Windows in desperate need of cleaning, including the ice cream case[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cobwebs in corners.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Light fixture in door way between the 2 doors was missing the dome and most of the fiberglass. One chunk of fiberglass hung from the light[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I didn't use the restroom. I will not go there again. .

    Veggie omelet

There was a good wait for a table, restaurant was packed. We put our name down and waited outside for our turn. It was raining. The veggies omelet was fantastic. There was a server filling our coffee cups often, helped us pass time as our order took a while, as expected, in this small town with limited staff. I think they are doing their best to manage COVID-19 spread in their restaurant given how tiny the space was. Staff was wearing masks, not. Ugh Ventilation. The only place open the day after labor day. Staff was friendly, tried their best to keep up. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Love this place. Glad it's stuck around.

Great little place to stop for breakfast. This is our second time here while visiting St. Ignace. Small town feel with lots of local patrons. Cool original diner decor... black & white checkered floor... red seats... bar stools... very fun & nostalgic. Food is nothing fancy, but perfect egg/meat/potatoes or pancakes to start our day. Food was served quickly and we had great service. Thanks, we'll be back!

Having fresh coffee. Its with free refills. Ate veggies skillet and come with their home fries which are baked wedge potatoes

Quaint, retro, and a delicious addition to our morning. Tell Lynn I sent you and enjoy the view. Fun place out of the norm. Reminds me of a 5o's soda fountain.

Not really fond of this place. Not sure how it had a 4 star rating. Food was alright but that's about it. Service was extremely slow; had to ask for refills of coffee twice. Waitress not that friendly. Breakfast took over 35 minutes to get.

Excellent food. Service was okay. The waitress seemed a little flustered. Old diner feel. Don't expect glamour or new furnishings.

Great diner with great food. The server was so nice. If you're there for breakfast, make sure you get the homemade bread.

Walked in and immediately a young man informed us it would be a long wait (45 min). We decided we…read moredidn't want to wait but used their facilities. We then thought, let's wait...pizza didn't sound too appealing. Thankful we did. The food didn't take near 45 minutes. They had just served a group of 30ish motorcycle club members causing the wait. I can tell you the moo (locally sourced from the owner's brother), fin (whitefish from Lake Superior) and the fries (fresh cut!) are all great! The owner checked on us and shared his story of opening the restaurant. He built the furniture, did the stainless work, tables, benches...all of it! Not sure we'll be back through the area anytime soon, however, if we are, we'll definitely go back. I mean, we tried everything except the ice cream...so we have to? I heard it's a state law.

Ok, I've been waiting catch this place when it's open, today was the day!…read more The staff are really friendly and the place is very clean. If you've ever been to a Five Guys burger place then you know what to expect as it's basically a UP vibe of a Five Guys knockoff that also offers fish dinners. The burger was really good, and i'd say they actually use a better bun then Five Guys but I did have a little problem with the prices. Now before anyone gets on me for mentioning price, I work in food service and don't have a problem paying but $20 dollars for a single cheese burger and fries (tip) is a little pricey in my humble opinion. On this occasion i took my lunch up the road to the rest stop and ate on beach overlooking Lake Michigan. I feel Clyde's overall is a better burger but I'm certainly looking forward to coming back to try the fish sandwich!!
