The avocado toast is yummy, the lattes are good too. Some of the staff is friendly, but the others I've encountered don't seem to care too much about the customers time. I made an online order 40 minutes before I arrived ( knowing it usually takes about 20 minutes to be ready) and waited an additional 15 minutes once I got there for my coffee to be made. The staff today was very chatty amongst themselves to the point that they'd stop what they were doing to finish their conversation, I just find that to be a little inconsiderate towards the customers who stand around waiting and are patient 3 stars is based off of my experience mostly every time I come here, there's no doubt this is a cute place to go, it does get busy which I'm understanding of but if online ordering was more accurate with the time it'll actually takes and/or staff was a little more considerate I think it'd be a better experience read more

I'm OBSESSED with this adorable little coffee + breakfast spot located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. I have had it bookmarked for so long and finally had a chance to stop in. First, it is a bit smaller than I had expected, so if coming for a meeting, I would make sure you're keeping it at 2-4 people. That said, the decor is ADORABLE and service is so friendly! They also have outdoor seating so it would be totally appropriate to bring your pup(s) along! I ordered their honey lavender latte with almond milk and it was so dreamy. It had a strong lavender taste which I LOVE. I also ordered their breakfast sandwich and you guys, it may just be my favorite one in town now and this is saying A LOT because I basically get one everywhere I go for breakfast. It had a fried egg, cheese, ham, tomato, avocado, arugula, and the yummiest aioli (see pic). I also think the prices are super reasonable for the quality of food and uniqueness of their beverages. As i've been trying local coffee around scottsdale I was recommended this place and it definitely was up to my standards. I got an iced lavender honey latte - one of my favorite flavor combos - and it was delicious (but nothing I haven't had before). They measure their syrups out into the coffee cups which I almost never see...this is incredible because you know that your coffee will be consistent everytime! A lot of places tend to be inconsistent in their sweetness levels from time to time, so this is definitely a plus. I took a star off of this review because unfortunately I think that the layout of the shop is really a downside. There were a handful of people ahead of me when I arrived, and it was quite crammed and uncomfortable where you have to stand and wait. It is way too crowded inside and made the waiting experience a bit frustrating. It did have some tables where people were sitting to chat or work, but I personally would not choose this place as a go to for focusing on my computer due to the crowded nature. Of course this is not a reflection of the coffee or the service and reorganizing the layout is not an easy fix, however I just simply am stating it as something to note before coming in. Berdena's is a lovely spot to do some Ber-dining! The space is airy with lots of light and there is a little area outside with seating in addition to indoor seating. After reading some other reviews I figured I'd get the most popular items they are known for: the avocado toast and honey lavender latte. The avocado toast was overall really good. The bread was a perfect light toastiness and there was a plentiful amount of avocado on it, with some chile flakes and sea salt. The only real criticism I had about the toast was that for me the salt flakes were too large so in some bites I didn't get any salt but with others I got salt overload. The honey lavender latte had a perfect balance of lavender flavor with light sweetness from the honey, and the espresso was rich and smooth. I'd definitely get this drink again! I have been wanting to give the avocado toast here a try after hearing such amazing things about it. The reviews were right, that is some dang good avocado toast, yum! I called my order in like 5 minutes after open and they said they already had a line out the door and the wait would be 25 minutes. It was definitely more like 35 which was insane. There were only two people working the front counter and it was really busy. The food was good though! My boyfriend got a breakfast burrito and he really liked it. I also got a lavender latte with oat milk which was great. It was worth the wait, but I guess calling 5 minutes after open was almost too late so next time I'll probably wait outside before open haha. read more

This is definitely a cute little coffee shop. They were actually out of food when I visited except for a few pastry items, but that was OK by me, as I came in for a drink. If you need their famous avocado toast, I'd suggest coming in early or you might be disappointed. I had a chai tea latte. It had good flavor, but it could have been a tad warmer. If you like your beverage on the hotter side, be sure to mention that to the barista. There is a seasonal menu for specialty drinks on the counter, so you'll want to check that out. I watched three different baristas when I was there sipping my drink and reading my book. They were all friendly and happy to be there. Believe the hype. I was visiting the charming Old Town Scottsdale area because I wanted to hit up some local coffee bars and after a less than stellar stop at the nearby Cartel Coffee, I found Berdena's. It's tucked away and a bit tricky to find, but I'm so happy I decided to stop in. The unassuming little coffeehouse is small with just a few tables. There aren't any sofas or fluffy chairs with that "please hang out for hours" vibe, yet I noticed several locals hanging out and working on laptops or listening to music. In fact, the locals were super friendly while I was an obvious visitor, they even chatted me up. The super cute and friendly barista welcomed me in and offered to help me with the small menu. He made several suggestions and told me all of their specialties (including hot tea and avocado toast), but when I settled on a boring cappuccino, he gave me the warmest smile and said "it's always a great choice to go with the classics." Swoon! He also talked me into the special baked good of the day, a tahini chocolate chip and sea salt cookie for $2. This cookie -- oh my god, it was full of salty, buttery goodness. Not too sweet either, and the chocolate chips were incredibly delicious. I loved this cookie (although it didn't really look as tasty as it actually was). When I got my coffee, I was shocked at how unbelievably gorgeous it was. No, really. Look at my photo: there's no filter. This was taken my me, an average photographer at best, with my iPhone's camera. The picture looks like a professional shot it because the cappuccino was so stunning and Insta-worthy. I almost hated to drink it because LOOK AT THAT BEAUTY! The cappuccino tasted as great as it looked and was worth every penny of its $3.50 price tag. I love an establishment that takes great pride in its product, and this was one of the most beautiful coffees I have ever been served anywhere on the planet. There are a couple of minor negatives: they only have real sugar and no artificial sweetener (I know fake sugar is blasphemous in the world of artisan / Third Wave coffee, but some of us have health issues that mean we must use Splenda or Equal), and as others have reported, service is very slow. Although I was the only person ordering, it took nearly 15 minutes for me to get my cappuccino. Great coffee art takes time and I appreciate that, but make note that this probably isn't the best place to come if you're in a rush. I absolutely adored everything about this place, though. There's zero pretension and it's not a place to hang out all day -- it's all about the coffee. read more

The coffee is great (I always get the honey lavender latte with oat milk), the ambiance is so cute, and the pastries.... omg. Their in house made pastries vary daily but I've never had a bad one. The cinnamon roll is especially tasty! The real star of the show is the avocado toast. The bread is locally made and perfect and you can add an egg if you're especially hungry. It's creamy, tangy, crunchy, spicy all in one bite. It's a must get. I've also had their breakfast burrito and it was pretty good as well.
