Cute coffee shop in old town Scottsdale. Lots of latte and specialty drink options. I just got an Americano with almond milk and it hit the spot. Breakfast burrito is fire. Up there with the best. I opted for no beans in mine and aioli on the side so I could dip. So yum, good size but not huge or too small. No wait on a Saturday at 11:45
the line was long but the service was great! Tried the campfire latte off the specialty menu and it had cold foam, tasted good! The avocado toast was decent too. The inside is small but the window seats are a good spot to chill!
This coffee shop is SUPER popular! It came recommended and this was seen by the line of people out the door. It's a small place, so it's pretty crowded, maybe a little too crowded. There's also only one entrance/exit, which makes going in and out awkward. We waited in line to order for about 15 minutes, but the cashier was kind and efficient. If you don't mind a lot of people standing close to you, it's great to watch the baristas make the coffee drinks, such as tamping grounds, pulling espresso shots, and decorating lattes with milk art. They were working pretty fast, despite the amount of orders. We waited for our drinks for about 15 minutes, which wasn't too bad considering how busy it was. We ordered the berry croissant danishes (see picture) and the cinnamon rolls. They are beautiful! These were packaged in pastry bags and/or boxes and given to us right away. They had a great variety of pastries, so it was hard to choose! It's good to arrive early, since it appeared they were running low on pastries in the pastry case around 10:30 am. The cinnamon roll is delicious! The flavor of cinnamon and sugar is balanced, the pastry itself was perfectly cooked, and the cream cheese icing was the perfect touch. The berry (ricotta?) danish was tasty too, the berries were fresh and the croissant dough was flaky. For coffee, we ordered hot lattes and I ordered the iced cookie butter latte. The hot cups are well insulated and don't require a sleeve. The lattes are a bit on the pricier side compared to other coffee shop lattes. The hot lattes had beautiful art on top, which I appreciate and thought was a nice touch for to-go drinks. The iced cookie butter latte had a great subtle flavor and wasn't too sweet like I was anticipating. Berdenas is a cute, solid place to get some coffee! We went on a Saturday morning and there was about a 20 min line. Once you order, they bring out the food fast. I got an apple spice latte on the fall menu & it was good! It's a homemade apple syrup. Their avocado toast was also really good, just a small portion!
Such a charming spot! My husband and I have been here several times now, and every visit has been wonderful. We always start with the Vanilla Latte--it's perfectly balanced, not too sweet, with a rich espresso kick and beautiful latte art. The baristas are clearly talented! We follow it up with the avocado toast and burritos, both of which are absolutely delicious. The flavors are fresh, satisfying, and full of taste. The staff is genuinely friendly, the food is excellent, and the coffee is consistently outstanding. What more could you ask for? Highly recommend!
This is one of my favorite cafes in Old Town Scottsdale. Seating is limited and mostly outdoors, and lines can get long on the weekends, but the food and drinks are worth it! The baristas behind the counter will help you decide what to order if it's your first time. The avocado toast is well-seasoned and has a bit of spice to it from the chili flakes, so ask for no chili flakes if you're spice-intolerant. The lattes are creamy and adorned with fun coffee art and pretty finishes.
I won't ever be coming back here again. The coffee does not taste good. And the service is absolutely awful. You will be at the register standing right in front of them and they won't even acknowledge you and just continue doing what they're doing. They could at least look up and acknowledge you and say I will be with you in a moment but no, and it's every single one of them. To top it off the barista got my order wrong when I specifically asked her if she got two coffees. She said yes but when it came out, it was one coffee and it was wrong. The coffee also isn't good at all anymore. Then we're waiting for ever for our croissant cuz she also forgot to give it to us.
I was really excited to try out this coffee shop after I saw the menu because I love a cardamom latte. I ordered an iced rose cardamom latte and it was underwhelming. There was no rose or cardamom flavor, it just tasted like an iced coffee. I also tried the avocado toast. Felt overpriced for one slice with a large amount of oil drizzled on top. They were out of orange juice and one of the iced teas with was surprising as it was still pretty early in the day (8/9 am??) Overall nothing impressive or memorable.
Great little coffee cafe on 5thin old town. Quick and cute and has lovely pastries too. Check out the Valentines coffee menu I posted! A cherry latte sounds lovely. Today I just got a quick cold brew! A def stop in. Cute tables to sit and lots and lots of outlets for charging!
We came here Sunday morning before 10 am for some breakfast. We ordered a coffee, matcha, breakfast sandwich and burrito. The coffee was delicious (says my picky husband) and the matcha was refreshing - not too sweet (I dislike the matchas with a bunch of sweeteners - takes away from the taste). The sandwich was well executed - brioche bread was tasty too. The breakfast burrito was very tasty and the salsa was Smokey. The distribution of ingredients was equitable - no need to turn the burrito to equalize your bites. Staff was friendly and they share a bathroom with a Pilates studio nearby. This aesthetically pleasing coffee shop has a limited menu and they execute every item to perfection. Seating is limited but the line moves quickly and the food comes out fast so we didn't have to wait for a table. I'd definitely come here again!
We fave it another try after some bad experiences employee-wise at old town scottsdale Ky was amazing friendly and the barista made a well done cortado. Food was way better than the food at Lydia's we had yesterday! The same manager who was at Lydia's was here for some time (with a white toyota) and again..it looks like she is not the friendliest. But at least we had good food and drinks and a nice talk with Ky! Kyle, you know what customer service is!
Friendly, prompt service with a smile! Always love that! The iced doubleshot espresso is very bitter so hard to enjoy it without flavoring...added a little mocha and milk and all good. The avo toast is deliciously! Generous, chunky but smooth avocado spread, very fresh. I did add extra lemon and salt for a touch more flavor. Definitely recommend it!
Obsessed may be an understatement... We came here TWICE in our 3 day trip for Spring Training. It was a nice morning walk from our hotel and luckily we were able to find seating because it was a very popular spot! So many items to choose from in our first visit -- ended up with the raspberry poptart, cinnamon roll, and breakfast burrito to share with a cold brew and cardamom rose latte. Second trip we came after having coffee already because we wanted to try more pastry options -- this time the strawberry poptart and chocolate chip walnut cookie and the strawberry matcha (special). Staff were super friendly and the place was clean. I really like that they use the inKind app which gives a discount for the first visit ($5 off $15) and 20% rewards. I definitely will be coming back next time we're in Scottsdale. Thank you, Berdena's!

Quaint spot for coffee! Ordered a cap and a blueberry muffin. The cap was a bit acidic, but presentation and creamy texture were appreciated. Service could've been friendlier or more helpful- there were, I'd say, two men preparing coffees and manning the register, with at least one more walking in and out of the kitchen/back. Chocolates and teas wrapped in heavy paper with colorful ink were on display and for sale. Space is very tight indoors; However, this cafe shares courtyard space with other shops, and it also has a couple of tables pour in the front, plus cute public benches situated close by. I was most impressed with the blueberry muffin: the cake had the texture and flavors of butter pound cake, which I love, and the blueberries were gigantic! There was an exorbitant amount of crystallized sugar on top, but I just ate around the granules. Wish I could have another blueberry muffin from Berdena's right now! read more

I have been into Berenda's a couple times now and I really love it! I'm already planning on bringing a friend here when she comes to visit Arizona! It's located on 5th street in Old Town, which can kind of be a pain to park at during peak hours. If you come early enough, there is plenty of parking around Berdena's, but around mid-day you'll probably have to park far away. The shop itself is adorable! It's pretty small with a few tables inside and few outside. I love the decore; it's bright and white with some light wood elements, and a few random pops of color, like the retro teal espresso machine and the bright orange patio tables! Now onto the food and drinks! I have been ordering a mocha latte, which is my go to and favorite speciality coffee drink! It's amazing. It's not too sweet, which is my mocha latte pet peeve. I really need to mix it up and try their signature honey lavender latte. The cardamon rose latte also sounds good. Berdena's is also known for their avocado toast. It's simple; just smashed avocado, sea salt, and red pepper on sour dough bread and served with a lemon wedge. It sounds like it should be boring and bland, it some how it not at all; it's got great flavor! In fact, it was named best avocado toast by Phoenix New Times. The only thing I don't love about Berdena's is they are not open on Sundays. Sunday is my favorite day to have a relaxing morning with a cup of joe! read more
OBSESSED. Not only does Berdena's have such a great atmosphere, but their coffee is also incredible. I ordered a honey lavender latte with macadamia milk and I can't stop thinking about it! There was the perfect amount of milk, espresso, ice, and flavor to it and I need it back in my life ASAP. Their baked goods also looked incredible, I can't wait to go back and try some! A friend also recommended their avocado toast, so that's also on my list for next time! One of the best coffee shops in the city. Everyone who works here is super down to earth and personable. The coffee is perfect, but the real star are the baked goods. If they don't sell out by the time you get there GET. A. SCONE. They're the best I've ever had. Also the breakfast cookie is great. read more

What a cool little coffee shop! I went here with a friend and. She thought it was pretty cute and nice. I ordered an iced coffee and it was on a verge of sweet and bitter, which is what i prefer. The atmosphere is small, so hopefully people talking can drown out your voices. It's very quiet in here when I went. The location is also my favorite since I'm in Old town pretty often read more
I saw a sign that said "Best avocado toast" and thought....I'll be the judge of that. Have to say the toast was very good. Mashed avocado served on thick sourdough bread with red pepper flakes. The cafe is cute and would be a nice place to study or hangout. Staff was friendly and it was clean. I'll come back for sure. read more
I have been here one time before, and even then, it did not disappoint. I got the fresh squeezed orange juice and Stevie's Big Boy Burrito, and it was incredible. A lot of places will say they make/have fresh squeezed orange juice, but this place ACTUALLY DOES! It was made right in front of me and was delicious. The burrito was filling, delicious, and made with fresh ingredients. My boss got the avocado toast, and as the restaurant is know for, it is award winning. Well done. We came across this cute little cafe while we were exploring the old town. We stopped over for some coffees and OMG, they didn't dissapoint. We had regular coffee and Mocha. The kitchen was closed so we couldn't order anything else. The look and vibe of the cafe is purely peaceful. Good for quick catch-up, meeting, or just for reading with a cuppa. The place is clean, and have indoor as well as outdoor seating arrangements. I will be definitely going back to try some their signature drinks and avacado toast! read more

What a cute little spot off 5th Avenue in Oldtown Scottsdale. If I hadn't eaten breakfast at my hotel, I would totally have had the quiche and avocado toast. I had an almond milk latte and my daughter had her crave, an Americano. Both perfect. We sat in the window seats to people watch before we had to head to the airport to go home. I didn't know breakfast like this existed! Apparently if you're from here, you already know that Berdena's is amazing! Came to AZ for a golf trip and got word about this "don't miss spot". Did. NOT. Disappoint! Wow!! Perfect cappuccino. Best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. (And I love breakfast sandwiches!) we were all full but then the owner (nicest guy ever) recommended the burrito so we powered thru and it stole the show! Incredible. Pastries too! The custard filled chocolate crescent blew our minds. This place is amazing! Cannot wait to come back! read more

To put it simply, Steve's burrito is hands down the best breakfast burrito you will ever enjoy in this life. The same goes for the raspberry scorn and rose cardamom latte. I'm absolutely addicted and it's always such a treat going to Berdena's. The staff is more than friendly, you can tell they love what they do. Overall 10/10 recommend! read more

Berdena's is the kind of place that is easy to love. Charming, contemporary, and in the heart of downtown Scottsdale, Berdena's offers all of the serene luxury one would want from a neighborhood cafe. With the kindest (and cutest) baristas I've encountered in a while, and a menu with drinks as creative as they are delicious, Berdena's instantly makes you feel like you made the right decision. They were also open on Christmas Eve, despite normally being closed on Sundays!! It was a clear gesture of kindness and holiday spirit that was so refreshing to experience. I tried their winter spice latte iced and it was one of the most unique and delectable drinks I think I've ever had. Flavored with hints of orange zest and rosemary, they make all their latte flavorings in-house which only adds to their superb quality. They also served me my drink in a Mason jar with a candy cane striped paper straw and offered me vegan milk alternatives also made in-house. My friend ordered the avocado toast that I shared a few bites of and was equally impressed. High quality food and high quality staff. Such a lovely place to spend a Sunday morning! read more
Amazing coffee and vibes. This was our daily spot while on vacation in Scottsdale a few weeks back. Only complaint is that they close a little early - but otherwise, everything we had was perfect. I stopped at this shop yesterday when the world (aka power lines down) didn't want me to go to work. I work on 3rd avenue and this place is located on 5th Avenue - so perfect distance from my work! The atmosphere of this place is very hip and modern inside. Pretty small shop with white, tile, and wood accents. I'm a simple girl when it comes to what I order at a coffee shop and this was no different. I ordered a Maya Chai and it was filled to the brim and satisfied my thirst. My boss joined me later and said that the vanilla latte she ordered was the best she ever had. The two baristas working were incredibly talkative and friendly and added to the 5 stars this place gets. They have options of different milks to order, i.e. whole milk, oat milk, almond milk. They have a very good avocado toast (and as it says on the wall - it's the best avocado toast in town!), and delicious looking pastries. Overall, a very good experience and can't wait to come back here to show to my friends! read more

Excellent little cafe near old town! We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast! The latte with honey was perfect and the quiche was light and airy. My wife had the avocado toast and also loved it. This is a must stop if you come to Scottsdale. read more

What time dose your kitchen close?
Hi! Our kitchen closes at 2:00pm. Unfortunately Yelp and Google does not allow us to have the kitchen hours separate than closing hours. They only allow us to have open hours and closing hours 😒
Is this place kid-friendly? Like for a 2 year old?
Yes! There were quite a few little ones while I was there. However, keep in mind indoor/outdoor seating is limited.
