    iced oat coffee

this cafe is so cute, it's in a victorian house and has a ton of books and plants. it's also definitely a noe valley local spot. the iced oat coffee was pretty balanced and not too astringent. the only thing is I couldn't find a menu at all

Do not get the matcha. Tasted like straight milk and the color was extremely pale (photo attached below).

Located on 24th and surrounded by cute shops, Victorian houses, and friendly people and dogs! We stopped by Bernie's on our weekly Sunday coffee dates and really enjoyed our coffees. We ordered two drinks from their popular menu, the Honey Hazelnut Latte and Vanilla Americano. We got both hot since it was cold outside and sat outside to enjoy it. Drinks were amazing and the perfect ratio of sweet and creamy for me. The staff were also kind and willing to walk through the menu and explain the different roasts they have. The barista actually messed up one of our drinks by adding regular milk instead of oat milk, but she was apologetic and remade the drink for us quickly with a smile on her face.

Bernie's is such a cute and homey coffee shop with great service. I ordered the iced honey hazelnut latte with oat milk and it was very delicious! It had the perfect balance of sweetness and coffee. The drinks were also well priced. Definitely a gem and will be coming back! :)

Feel the Bern! I don't think you have to be a Democratic Socialist to patronize Bernie's, but being social wouldn't hurt. Customers seem convivial in the low-key Noe Valley setting right next to Whole Foods. I've certainly felt the Bern before, and I came today on an unusually warm afternoon when the $3.20 Iced Coffee did the trick (photo: http://bit.ly/32qSt3b). All the tables were taken by serious-looking laptoppers (photo: http://bit.ly/2HXR6iQ), and oh, please don't tempt me with baked goods. That would mean I would Feel the Calories! COFFEE - 4 stars...a fine balm no matter the weather AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...crowded with regulars but still folksy enough for Noe Valley SERVICE - 3.5 stars...friendly enough though they seem to favor the regulars TOTAL - 4 stars...Feel the Bern! Latté at Bernie's! A nice kick to it... & happier ending than Weekend at Bernie's (1989)

"I love you I love you I guess I always will Girl, you're my best friend Girl, you're my love within I just want you to know That I will always love you Oh baby Tell me you'll stay Never ever go away" - NKOTB 1989 So maybe you won't find NKOTB or Andrew McCarthy, circa 1989, in "Weekend at Bernie's" here, but Noe Valley is still one of my favorite 'hoods in San Francisco. Oh btw, this is where you can find a cute independent coffee shop... Bernie's! Bernie's is tucked away on 24th St. and Noe. You can't miss the "cottage charm" and dog-friendly outdoor seating. On my latest visit I ordered a Latté... on point with a nice kick! Lot's of other drink options and baked goods I have yet to try. I later found out "Bernie" was the one who made my Latté and truth be told Bernie has nothing to do with 80's stuffs or even Bernie Sanders, tho Noe Valley hints of progressive;) She's really kinda sweet! All in all, I recommend Bernie's if in Noe Valley. I've been here a couple times after running my yuppie errands and enjoy the vibe! I'll be back for a cup of no frills Latté & maybe a Muffin. Since it's dog friendly I'll bring my sister's 150-lb Lab-Portuguese Water Dog. He's way better company versus a stiff body from "Weekend at Bernie's"... nonetheless 1989 was a good year;) Go Bernie!

They explained that the flight includes an espresso shot, espresso shot with milk, hot coffee, and iced coffee. I hadn't had a straight espresso shot before, so this wasn't for me personally just because it was so overpowering. I enjoyed the other three though. Like the majority of SF, parking is difficult to locate. I was dropped off nearby the location. There is indoor and outdoor seating; I was able to grab an empty spot late in the morning on a weekend, but I don't think seating is always readily available. It's not a huge space.

It seems like there's also an upstairs but did not get the chance to check it out. I got an iced latte with their almond macadamia milk, and they're also so nice to do complimentary cold brew! So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

But Katsu is really becoming the new hype of the day for Japanese food, following the Sushi, Ramen, Japanese Curry, Katsu trend. So I came in with a critical view. I feel like Yoshoku in general may be next but I yet again digress. The box sandwich came in a cute little box. The inside was packed so I couldn't get a chance to fully appreciate the cafe, but the service was nice though the pay line may have moved slower than hoped. I'll say this. This is "the" best katsu sando in the bay. The katsu is crispy, but little on the softer side. But this hardness matches perfectly with the absolutely tender, soft, juicy pork wrapped inside. I'm looking at the menu again and it all makes sense. The pork has been in shio koji, making the meat ever so tender while adding the subtle but complicated marinated flavor. The cabbage is plenty, but not over packed to take away from the main Katsu flavor. What really perfects it for me, was not only the sweet and savory katsu sauce, but the mayo with dash of I think a karashi mustard. That slight tingle, the perfect kick gives a powerful awakening of flavor that really sets the it apart. This is art, an artisan. Culinary art is the refuge no raging rampant AI slop "art" can ever hope to touch. Until the day we get some cyborg implant to our brain into gustatory, olfactory functions. Even then, I don't think any tasteless tech bro are hopeless to create anything unique or beautiful.
