We had been in Falmouth for 6 days before we found this cafe. We had fried eggs ( over easy, just like we ordered), Ham Sausage, and Bacon. It was very good! The only thing we missed was Sausage gravy over buscuits. ( we're from the South). We returned two times, and will try to go back one more time before we leave. Only complaint is it is VERY noisy. We had breakfast here on a recent Sunday morning. We arrived around 10:30am and were seated promptly. We had a blueberry short stack, french toast, and bacon. The pancakes were very good - but a huge portion. I was only able to eat half. My husband wasn't fond of his french toast or bacon. He said the french toast had little flavor and the bacon was very greasy and overlooked. The service was good and the prices reasonable. read more

What a shame. I have lost my favorite breakfast, lunch place in Falmouth. New owners, really everything went downhill. Unfair to compare the staff because the previous staff was so perfect. But, the food and price was far from perfect. My hotdog increased by a dollar, I got one hotdog, not two, and I use to have a choice of french fries or coleslaw. No choice, no nothing. Just an unadorned plate with one lonely hotdog, and to make it worse, the quality of the meat itself was pathetic. It is hard to believe their business model could go so astray. It is okay for the one time tourist who will not return, but I can't imagine any regular visitor or resident would support such a greedy approach to business. read more

Had lunch at Betsy's for the first time yesterday about 3:00. Cool place. Reasonable enough prices. Waitress was friendly. Ordered a burger and fries and coleslaw. Ordered the burger medium. It took more than 20 minutes to get the food, and the burger was raw. I mean raw. Couldn't get the waitress back. Ate the fries and coleslaw. 15 minutes later, the waitress shows up, but at that point, I had a ferry to catch. Tipped her well, but shouldn't have. Eat Heavy! So the sign says at the entrance... This oversize 50's style diner sports plenty of stainless steel, clean, visually appealing, has a traditional counter and jukeboxes at the booths (that have not been updated in 30 years and work well enough to take quarters, but don't actually play music). The menu has the expected fare, burgers, fries, eggs and frappes. For the locals there is also Corn beef, Shepherds pie and Portuguese soup; casing flashbacks to junior high school. The burgers are huge, juicy and just what the doctor ordered... for a heart attack! Being bad is sooo good!! There is a late model soda spigot and syrup pumps, but the preparation of deserts is done in the kitchen, probably from a can or plastic bottle. The staff were well seasoned, chatty with regular customers, efficient, but maybe a bit distant to an obvious tourist. There is a most generous scale out front, no longer requiring a penny to operate and telling sweet lies to the curious. First let me say that the waitresses are awesome as heck at this old 50's diner. I had breakfast here. I had eggs and bacon on whole wheat bread. The bacon was a little bit too dry. My father had the portuguese linguica sausage breakfast. The sausage was very good...not too hot. The waitress told us that 75% of the people on the Cape are of Portuguese ancenstry and that they eat linguica for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. At each table was a 50's juke box that played 2 songs for 25 cents. read more

This is a great place that is set in the Red Vynl Booth era of the 1950's and you would half expect your server to be on roller skates! This is a great place for or a burger, the prices are reasonable, the staff is fast and friendly. Only problem is the juke box doesn't work! read more

We ordered 5 of their chocolate cakes for our wedding reception, and EVERY guest said it was the best wedding cake they'd ever had. We LOVED to tell them they were everyday cakes from Betsy's. MOST times I've been here the service was A-ONE. The only bad experience I encountered (5 years ago) was on a Sunday morning, day after our wedding, when most of our guests went here for breakfast on our recommendation. Upon arrival my husband informed the manager that there were several families to be joining us, and while we understood that we would not have everyone at one table, we hoped he would keep the general seating close. Our group took up about 1/2 of the dining room. We were happy to support a local business, and wanted them to benefit from our out-of-town $$$. However, the gentleman seating us seemed upset to be told how to seat us, and went out of his way to stagger us all around the dining room. He also made his contempt clear by making our table's orders the LAST to be served, even before other table's who'd been seated after us. Sadly, the bride and groom were the last to eat that morning, and we were embarrassed to see such shoddy treatment of our family and friends by an establishment we'd had such great experiences at! I was seriously disappointed in this behavior, and it left a bad image in my mind, as well as our guests, about Betsy's, who had had such STELLAR service up until this point. The diner made a LOT of money off our family/guests that weekend, and we were happy to support a local business versus a chain. Our 'favorite place in Falmouth' had lost it's sparkle and allure. Four of us had a delicious breakfast here and loved the 60's vibe - and our server, Vicki....a true diner classic. The link sausage was very good, as was the crumbly enormous portion of cornbread.The coffee was decent, too. REASONABLE prices. Betsy's is a typical diner. It is very greasy and authentic. The food is average and they have the standards- nothing out of the ordinary. My big complaint here is that it is dirty.... very dirty. Go to the bathrooms and you can see into the kitchen- disgusting! Also, there is always a huge wait on weekends. I would go again if someone really wanted to try it but I find Crabapples or Country Fare to be much better (standard breakfast fare plus some seafood inspired items) plus their waits are typically shorter. read more

The breakfast was delicious! I had the corn beef hash and it was so flavorful, and my poached eggs were done perfectly. I had a taste of some fresh toast as well, and that was super yummy. No one had any complaints and the waitress was great. She was very careful of my 2 yr old daughter with the hot coffee which I really appreciated. Like many other reviews here, I think that the eggs were fake. Both of our omlettes were dry and tasteless, I have never had egg beaters but imagine that they were used here. The blueberry pancakes were disgusting, dry and I am guessing that the blueberries were not fresh but dry. Just truly awful. Waitress was nice and service was good but not enough to save this meal. Much to be desired. Small quaint place yes. Our waitress was not nice to my kid. Pancakes my son ordered were horrible. They had no flavor and weren't buttermilk. They have a sign outside that says "eat heavy". You would've thought that if you ordered a plate they would stuff you up with healthy portions. The plates and portions were not hearty and the pricing was a bit over priced. If you're used to traditional Greek diners which are the best in my opinion this isn't the place. Right after receiving our food she dropped off the check. Needless to say we had to order other things like more OJ for the kids because their OJ glasses were the size of shot glasses and they charged us like it was a large! My family and I come here every time we are in the cape. The owner is very pleasant. The atmosphere is very 1950ish. The prices were very reasonable and you get a lot for your money.
