Let me say, I've always wanted to try Better Buzz solely for the cute cups, but after getting one of their drinks, I can't stay away. My usual at Starbucks is a iced green tea latte, so that's what I ordered at Better Buzz. Sometimes I specify and call it an iced matcha green tea latte, just for clarification. I love this little kiosk. It's so convenient because it's right next to where I work (Topshop Topman!) If you work at the mall, by the way, you get a 10% discount. The downside is that you have to pay in cash for that discount, though. The lines tend to get a little long, but they go by quick... Unlike Starbucks, which gets very chaotic. The workers are very friendly! I always have a conversation with the workers. Just like Starbucks, or any other coffee shop, they have dessert snacks and bagged coffee, etc. read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review about this place. By far one of my favorite places to get coffee. They have a variety of drinks ranging from coffee, tea, ice blended, etc. Also, they have pastries and other small food/snacks to eat/much on. As for a person who is lactose intolerant, dairy free is important to me and I'm so glad they have the option of opting for almond, oat or soy milk. Yes this is in the Fashion Valley mall so the lines tend to get really long but the workers work really fast and efficient to tend to every customers need. If you ever need a coffee fix and want to try something different, I highly recommend checking this place out if you ever get the chance. PS: The long lines are worth the wait(: I always get the iced honey latte with almond milk but I overheard a lady behind raving how great the best drink ever is AND IT TRULY IS THE BEST DRINK EVER! I was in town for 5 days and came 4 times! I tried their "best drink ever" iced and loved it. A little sweet, but you can order it half sweet and it's perfect in my opinion! Also tried the vanilla buzz, which is basically a milkshake. Very yummy, but definitely preferred the best drink ever. I had the OG açaí bowl. It was amazing! I finally had the chance to try Better Buzz and I was not disappointed. Location: This is in the middle of the mall (which I wasn't expecting when I first plugged into my GPS). It's a little "cart vendor" that's right in front of Pink and Urban Outfitters. Service: The workers here were great and kept the flow of customers going. The wait to order and to get my drink was not very long. As one person took my order someone would be making the drink right away which was great. Drinks: Probably because this location is inside of a very nice outdoor mall, the prices here are slightly higher than what I had seen on Yelp from the other locations. Despite the prices, this was definitely worth it. -Hazelnut Divinity: Absolutely divine! I already have a tendency to like hazelnut flavored drinks and this was no exception. I walked by Better Buzz and told him to give it a try since we don't have one locally. The line was pretty long and their reviews seemed promising so he decided to give it a try. He ordered their iced killer bee and I took a few sips, and boy, was it strong. If you are a coffee connoisseur, which I'm not, I'd say that you'd definitely enjoy their coffee. It's not light and sweet like the iced coffees you get at Starbucks, so if you are sensitive to caffeine, you will definitely get the jitters. I'm a green tea girl but I'll have a mint iced coffee if I come across one and they did not disappoint! It's pretty close to Philz's mint mojito. Just the right amount of mint and creamy coffee. My BF had the latte and it was quite good as well. We went around 8am and there was only a couple of people ahead of us. The barista wasn't very friendly but it was 8am, her coffee probably hasn't kicked in. I wanted to try the Island açaí bowl but it was too much coldness combining it with my iced coffee so I got a croissant; mistakenly got the chocolate croissant thinking it's the almond chocolate croissant in the display case. My roommate had recommended me to check this place out and it sure did not disappoint. The coffee is so fragrant, smooth, and delicious! I got a regular iced latte and was super impressed by how tasty it was. It wasn't too bitter or unbearably strong. It was just the right consistency. Definitely try the almond croissant here. It's so good. There's almond paste filling in the middle and it just made the croissant so memorable and tasty. I can't stop thinking about it! Waited 15 min and asked the counter for an update and they mentioned that it would come out soon. Another 15 min later, I asked to cancel my order and my drinks were ready. I told the gentleman working that they need to update the online order to reflect real wait times and he said that "they can't control that". For longer wait times, the store needs to either disable the online orders or put in more accurate wait times. A lot of customers waiting were also very frustrated and mentioned that they were waiting 20 min or longer. Not okay for customer service. read more

I heard great things about Better Buzz and decided to try it out. Hazelnut Divinity: this was the most mentioned on Yelp, and for good reason. Hazelnut-flavored drinks are pretty good to me, (I like them, but it isn't my go-to drink) but this drink definitely blew me away. There's hints of sweet and bitter caffeine, none of which are overpowering at all. How can that be?! I definitely can't handle a drink that's too sweet and this was just perfect. Service: They make your drink right as you order it so you know that it hasn't been sitting there for awhile. All the workers were really busy and making the drinks as fast as they can. All the workers were really nice and you can tell they know their stuff. Con: I searched prices from Yelp pictures before coming here and they were fairly cheap. Sweet spot and a much better alternative to the crowded Starbucks upstairs inside the food court. They have a crazy amount of selection ranging from the basics to their signature brews. Drinks are served in a 16 or 20-oz. cup and are picked up behind the order area. I ordered their most popular drink - the Hazelnut Divinity (iced). And, oh my, was it DIVINE! So lusciously sweet and nutty at the same time. I can say that I was a very pleased customer. In addition to their drinks, you have the the option of indulging in their pastries or even purchasing bags of their house brews and teas. Great place and definitely lives up to the buzz! read more

I've always been a huge fan of better buzz, but the recent times I came to this location, I've been a little let down. I stopped by here on back to back weekends while waiting for the movies at amc. I haven't been to this mall in awhile and found out that they moved from a little booth in front of urban outfitters to its own space right next to it. I really liked the interior design of the place. The first time I came I ordered the iced best drink ever which is my go-to here. Its an americano with vanilla and it's usually super creamy and sweet! However, when I got my drink it was watered down and not as creamy as usual. The second time I came, I decided to try something new and ordered the vanilla bean latte. It was decent, but I felt like it could use another shot in it as it tasted a bit too milky. My drink took almost 15-20 minutes to come out, which I didn't mind considering that the line was fairly long both times. But what sucked was the fact that I waited that long patiently only to get mediocre coffee that was not worth the $4-5 I paid!! The workers seemed pretty frantic both times I came here from and I don't know if they were rushing to make everyone's orders. It probably has to do with the fact that it's located at a mall and it is consistently packed with people so I will be a bit understanding. I've never been let down at the other locations I've visited and I will probably come here again when I go to fashion valley, but I'll be wary of the fact that this location isn't consistent in quality. read more

Was in San Diego for a Halloween work event and knew Better Buzz had to be part of our trip down. Event ended around 8:30pm and all other locations were closed within a 5 mile radius and we were excited to see that this location SUPPOSEDLY closed at 9:00pm. -Note we are in Halloween costumes, we preferred a drive thru to lessen stares that costumes bring- We navigated from the venue to this location, parked and saw that this was inside a mall, but we had to get it if were going to be making the drive back up to LA. We walked up to the location and from afar could already see the line barriers were gathered in an odd position for a store that is "open". We are right in front of the store location now and the metal door is halfway down and there is a female employee avoiding eye contact with us, pre-closing, and the line is barricaded off with the poles. VERY disappointing as we made sure to leave the event with enough time to account for coffee time. Got here at 8:42pm to the shop closed and employee not manning the store in a friendly manner (head down, avoidant). I understand pre-closing by cleaning up the stations and preparing to leave, but not more than 15 minutes before actual close time!!! Super sad and we ended up taking our business upstairs to the Ding Tea. As we were leaving with our Ding Tea drinks we saw the same female employee passing us in the parking structure right at 9:00pm. I've been to the Mira Mesa location and thought the coffee was amazing so I was excited when I saw this while in the mall with my daughter. I was very disappointed. The coffee was watered down and the service needs a lot of work. They called your name once, dropped the drinks off on the counter, and let you figure it out for yourself. Went first thing in the morning right when they opened and it was probably the worst coffee buying experience I've ever had. We were 3rd in line after they opened but it took 30+ min to get our order. People behind us were getting their drinks and the staff spoke to 2 other customers very rudely who were just asking when their drinks would be ready. This in part was likely due to a large amount of online orders coming out a head of those in line. Our orders were with oat milk and they charged us for that even though they knew they were out. Told the customer ahead of us they could substitute her drink with milk or almond but never asked us what we wanted. We are pretty sure they used regular milk (not a big deal for us but would be for someone who has an intolerance). I'm sure they, like many places are short staffed as only one person was making drinks but the disorganization, rudeness from staff, and amount of unhappy customers suggested management is failing at some part in their process. If this location only has one person/set up to make drinks they shouldn't allow online orders to come in and this would be on the responsibility of corporate to consider the locations ability and demand. It is one thing when you see a long line and choose to go to the location knowing there will be a wait, it's another thing when they take orders and are unable to meet demand and you are stuck trying to decide if you're going to walk away from the money you spent or wait such a long time that if it was food in a restaurant you would have canceled your order. There were so many unhappy customers in the span of time we waited I can't imagine management is unaware of this issue. read more

I understand that it's the only competing coffee shop in the mall but oh man I just wish the line was shorter. The coffee is well worth the wait since it's superior than Starbucks, but seriously during my wait I was thinking whether just to online order from Starbucks just for convenience.
