Cori is racist!!!! She got our order wrong and blamed us for it. Additionally, a different waitress came to our table to replace our water and when she went up to cori to let her know, cori furrowed her brows and questioned the other waitress. The pizza and foods here are good to very good, but I have two complaints: (1) if you are local and just want to order a pizza for pickup you have to call hours or maybe a day in advance (unacceptable); and (2) to hold a reservation they charge $20 (unacceptable); perhaps they do this because they've had enough people rude enough to make reservations and then just not show up rather than canceling, in which case that means our community is just plain full of rude patrons, but still, I will pass on being charged $20 to make a reservation, and have my pizza elsewhere. This is fourth and final time we will dine here. First time we dined here it was amazing. BUT THEN I understand maybe the pizza not being the same after - maybe we ordered the mushroom pizza, add pepperoni or maybe we ordered the pepperoni, add mushroom that messed it up from the original order we made that made us go crazy BUT WHEN YOU CANT EVEN PROVIDE A FUCKING CHEESE PIZZA FOR A CHILD that's when we go nuts. I guess that was when they first opened up and not the snotty shit we get now. Literally, two days ago, only option apparently is to order a margherita pizza add cheese. XTRA $$$$ Is the chef too egotistical to actually add cheese ALL OVER the pizza?! Because even after asking for the margherita pizza we DID NOT order to yea take it back and make it a fully cheese pizza they could not cover the full pie with cheese. And charged us for the mistake. And the food runner was so confused...yea we ordered a cheese pizza not margherita... Bettina you are too expensive to snub your nose at children and we even wanted a full pizza for our child, no cost even in thought, but you couldn't provide what we asked. So forget your farm to table whatever, just put up a sign that says for adults only and while you serve drinks that taste like cleaner (pea martini stay away from), they can pay for expensive ingredients that aren't worth the service or the meals that are served. Ultimately we're bummed because our kid loved your pizza but you couldn't provide so we will make it at home and honestly it's pretty comparable when we make our own dough. read more

We didn't have a reservation but luckily they were able to seat us for lunch on a weekend. They have a good amount of outdoor seating that is pet friendly. Everything we had here was so delicious! The pepperoni pizza had the perfect crust and every bite was we so good! The little gem Caesar salad was very fresh and nicely tossed. Do not skip on the bread, the wood-fired bread and butter is so amazing! It's freshly made and the texture is nice and fluffy on the inside and perfectly crispy outside and goes so well with their salted butter. If you have room for dessert, I recommend also trying their olive oil cake. read more

Highly recommend as this was such a terrific lunch! Terrific service, the food was interesting and delicious. The ambiance and setting were perfect for a late lunch with our family outdoors on a beautiful weekend day. We ordered the kids' cheese pizza, a margherita pizza, and the peach burrata appetizer and the peach pizza - all were surprisingly delicious. The pizza was so tasty and the crust was perfect and delicious. We had a meringue passionfruit dessert that was so unique and delicious. Bettina never disappoints. We can't get ourselves to order pizza anywhere else now bc we are so obsessed with the pizza here. They have lots of unique combinations, but don't pass up the most classic on the menu-- pepperoni pizza. You know a restaurant is doing it right when they can make a classic staple item INCREDIBLE. The "roni cups" they use on their pepperoni pizza are small and they curl up a little getting a little crispy on the side. They add some chili oil and honey to it as well which adds just the best savory/sweet combination. Their dining room is absolutely gorgeous and we love dining in, but during shelter at home we have loved ordering online and grabbing takeout. Their location in Montecito makes it a great spot to grab a pizza and enjoy it at the beach nearby. This has been a favorite weekend ritual of ours that we'll continue on long after this season of takeout only. They also have the best gluten free crust in town. My husband LOVES pizza but I had nearly given up on it due to a gluten allergy which meant I've tried countless GF cardboard pizza crust. Not the case at bettina-- their gluten free crust could be mistaken for "real crust" it has the right consistency and softness and doesn't fall apart. I can love pizza again. We are visiting and we stopped by due to their impressive reviews. The service was quick and friendly. The ambiance was very impressive and they had blankets and heaters for us to use. We ordered the meatballs and two pizzas: kids cheese and a regular pepperoni. The Vodka Sauce was so delicious and was easily the best we've ever had. The food was good in every way. When I moved to SB a few years ago, I could not find a place with decent pizza. Then Bettina opened its doors and saved the day for SB pizza lovers. It is truly the best pizza spot in SB, by a LONG shot. I have only ordered take-out, as it's always super crowded, even on weeknights. They have some outside seating that isn't affiliated with the restaurant, but is generally open for those who want to grab a pizza to-go instead of waiting for an official table. I've had the pepperoni, meat lovers, and the carbonara pizzas. The pepperoni is my favorite, mostly because they pile it on! The pizza itself is thin, but still has a pretty thick crust. I prefer the marinara base, which you can also order on the side. It's obvious that the service is what sets this place apart. A man in front of us in line accidentally took our order, and we were left with a few pizzas we didn't order (you can't go wrong--so it was totally fine with us!). Love love love this restaurant. The food is impeccable. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff is soooo good. I rarely find great staff anywhere anymore. It seems most staff is annoyed they have to work and that your taking away their time from their lives or phones. We come here on our way to Santa Barbra and on the way back we love it so much. The fact that Bettina only has 4 stars on Yelp is proof enough that you shouldn't use Yelp to choose your restaurants. Bettina is hands down the best food in Santa Barbara. No, I didn't say "best pizza" (yes it is the best pizza, BY FAR)... I said best FOOD in Santa Barbara. We have other good restaurants here, but none of them rank in my mind as truly spectacular versions of themselves like Bettina does. I ordered the anchovies on the side for the Ceasar salad but came mixed in. The hostess was quick to offer it fixed. Took 10+ minutes. Not the end off the world but the pizza soaked into the box in the meantime. The "corrected" salad had the anchovies picked off but it was the EXACT same geens. The taste of achovies were still on the greens. I could have done that myself but spouse does not like the taste...period. Lesson to the owners, you may have owned this place for awhile and have some customers willing to accept this product. But, I recommend two things: 1) better training for lazy employees; 2) put wax paper under the pizza. It's a disgrace that in 2020 this hasn't been figured out by some pizza restaurants. read more

I have been waiting for some time to write this review as I had considered I might be in the minority and my experiences at Bettina were the exception rather than the norm. However, after numerous local friends have opined to me in recent months and though my own observations, I realized the trend was clear. Bettina is run by entitled owners who put on one face to respond to their Yelp clientele while putting on another face when they rule the restaurant. I have witnessed on many occasions the unsavory approach how these owners (one in particular) treat guests. Most of the time my wife and I sit on the sidelines while dining - we observe, listen, and watch. The tone the owners set for their staff if infectious and is likely the reason that so many locals now find Bettina's staff culture flat out uptight and arrogant. The owners seem to forget that word of mouth still matters and after our 15+ visits to Bettina we will NEVER go back. Furthermore, whenever someone asks, I tell them, yes their food is good but their attitude and approach towards guests is comparable to elitist operators you would find in Beverly Hills. Our family dines in Montecito 3-4 times per week and we go where staff and ownership values and appreciates our business. Tre Lune, Lucky's, and Honor Bar offer a dining experience which is not only best in class, but will provide you with owners and management who truly care for, appreciate, and work hard to keep your business. The Bettina owners should take note, otherwise they will eventually wear out their welcome in this closely knit community where pretentious ideals are not tolerated. Please don't waste your time with a half hearted response to my review. Instead listen and learn and maybe you can undo some of the damage you have already done to your local customers. You will likely continue to get the LA crowd from Miramar, and you probably don't care, because money is money. Just note that many people who matter in Montecito are onto you, and hopefully that is enough for you to overhaul your approach to whatever your definition of hospitality is. read more

Soooo yummy. Seriously reminds me of the pizza I had when I went to Italy a couple of years ago. Really had a hankering for just a classic Margherita and this place did not disappoint. The tomato sauce was slightly tangy and perfectly balanced, and the mozzarella was evenly distributed and totally awesome. The focaccia was flavorful and moist and the Parmesan on top was a really nice finish. I got a Mezcal Negroni which I'm not usually the biggest fan of, but it was really smooth and got me a nice buzz goin :P will definitely be coming back here with some friends for an authentic Italian fix! read more

After literally years of trying to get into Bettina, I finally managed to snag a reservation for myself, my husband, and a friend. Overall, the food was tasty, but I don't think it justifies the hype. My husband and friend both ordered the non-alcoholic "seasonal fizz," which they found refreshing. I started with the tomato soup, which was delicious, and my husband ordered the baby gems salad, which had a pleasing lightness despite the ranch dressing. Both starters were big enough to share. Since I had tomato soup, I ordered the creamed leek pizza, which has no tomatoes. I loved the thin crust, the sausage, and the crunch of the crispy shallots. Our friend ordered the prosciutto pizza, which I did not partake of because I don't like olives. However, my friend and husband both liked the flavor of that pizza, even though my husband isn't really a fan of prosciutto. My husband ended up sampling both pizzas because he (rather inexplicably) ordered the cavatelli pasta for dinner. Despite the server's assurance that the portions were large and the food was meant to be shared, family-style, the pasta was more of an appetizer-size portion (my husband derided it as "six bites of noodles"). In terms of ambience, on a Friday night the restaurant had a pleasant bustle but was not so loud you couldn't have a normal conversation. We did not, however, love the music selection, which ranged from rap to Rolling Stones and just didn't seem right for the atmosphere. Final thought: For my money, I prefer the thin-crust pizza at St. Bibiana in downtown Santa Barbara. It's not nearly as upscale as Bettina, but the pizzas are amazing - not to mention a bit larger than Bettina's (14-inch versus 12-inch) and a little less expensive. read more

The best pizza in Santa Barbara, hands down. My wife and I always look forward to taking friends here when they come into town to start off the SB food scene right! I mean, cmon! Who wouldn't love sour dough pizza with locally sourced ingredients!? The vibe is wonderful and with a location tucked away in the Montecito Mart you can come for a romantic experience, or a fun family filled pizza night! My only qualm is the service. We've never felt like the servers are explicitly patient, not that they are pushy, but sometimes it can feel like they want to get you out the door. It's true there is usually a wait but I'd just hope for a little slower of an experience for the price you pay.
