Just tried this place on Saturday before Mother's Day. Service is excellent. The food was spectacular. We loved it so much that we went again on Wednesday and was we're not disappointed. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is comfortable. It's good for families or fine dining and the food is just spectacular. I can no longer recommend this restaurant. My husband and I used to come for special events like anniversary or birthdays. Our last visit was definitely a come down from what we have come to expect The brussel sprouts which we used to love, had definitely not been seated and were just stir fried. Time for a review update being that my last one was back in 2016. Why have I not been back in such a long time when I truly enjoy Bettolino? I dunno...life happens... but my cousin had a gift card she needed to use up, so I thought I'd help her. : ) Anyway, the service was great and the lunch was great as well. Considering this is the sister restaurant of Gaetano's in Torrance, it's no surprise. While Gaetano's is more traditional Italian fars, Bettolino's is more "bistro" and with different flavors. A pleasant evening with friends. As we tried an assortment of starters, but the one I enjoyed the most was the California Calamari as it was lightly battered and very flavorful. The lemon aioli was a great pairing too. As for my entree I chose the Risotto Di Mais. The scallops were perfectly cooked, with the right about of searing. As for the risotto, it had great texture and flavor, but had a bit of saltiness to it. This could also be due to my own taste buds being skewed. The final topper was the fact that this was a late birthday dinner, in which I was treated to the Cannoli Cheesecake. Loved it. I would definitely return to try other dishes. Our favorite place! Lovely ambiance plenty of space but intimate as well. The food and the service both got an A++. The calamari was some of the best I've ever had and the bread was insanely good warm tasty a dab of the olive oil and I was in heaven, Each of us loved our main courses as well. Had a really nice lunch with family today. We are a party of 11 and when I made reservations we were initially asked to do a fixed menu. I kindly requested an open menu and we were so glad we had that option. All the different options were delicious and fresh. Tried 3 of the 4 appetizers - donuts, hearts of palm fries, and calamari. We tried a bunch of menu options and the pastas were SO fresh and amazing. Will definitely be back and definitely recommend this restaurant. Food was really good, server was excellent but we did take some seafood leftovers home for dinner later that night and there were fish bones in our food. I'm a big fisherman and so I know how it is to forget a few bones; but I think that's pretty unacceptable for a trained professional chef serving the public. We aren't talking about a small hair that, although gross; won't harm you. A fish bone can seriously injure someone if swallowed. I'm glad I was eating it and not my wife because this is the reason why she doesn't eat fish I catch, and so if I were you; stay away from the seafood with fish unfortunately read more

Service throughout the meal was professional and prompt on a busy weekday evening making for a pleasant dining experience. A second positive was very reasonably priced wines; the very drinkable red wines we ordered were enjoyed. Those with more refined tastes may want to see more expensive bottles, we were very happy. Limited vegetarian options. 2 appetizers, bread, 2 main courses. Plus salads. We had enjoyable salads and each ordered one of the mains. I had the "Parmigiana di Melanzane", which, as served, did not include Parmigiana (per the menu). Our server did offer to freshly grate the parmesan cheese, so I guess that counts. It was unlike any Eggplant Parmesan I have ever had and is well worth trying. Partner had the "Tortelloni al Limone" (Spinach and riccota stuffed ravioi in a lemon cream sauce). Personally I much preferred this to the eggplant, partner thought both were excellent. For desert we shared the canoli cheesecake. Like all the menu items we sampled, it was unique and cleverly created, delicious. Would we go back? Probably. My husband and I visited Redondo Beach for the first time and decided to try Bettolino Kitchen. My husband is from Sicily, so he's naturally skeptical of "Italian" restaurants -- and unfortunately, this visit confirmed his doubts. He ordered the avocado focaccia, which turned out disappointing -- the bread wasn't fresh, and the avocado tasted like store-bought guacamole. I ordered the carbonara with shrimp, but the portion was small, with more sauce than pasta. It was made with heavy cream and an excessive amount of bacon or guanciale, making it greasy and overly rich. I ended up with a stomach ache for the rest of the day. We only had those two dishes and water, yet our bill came to $50. Sadly, it wasn't worth the price or the hype. read more

Bettolino for date night on Mondays is a great deal! For $65 you can choose from an app, two entrees and a dessert form a preselected menu and for an upgrade of $10 you can choose any of these from the whole menu. Plus the bread they give complimentary is to die for as well. I have been here many times and have also enjoyed the polpette ad polenta and squid ink pasta but this last time we decided to do the date night menu. We got the crab arancini which was stuffed with crab and accompanied with a creamy tomato sauce. Then we got the risotto and lobster bucatini. The risotto was slightly over salted and the scallops were seared on just one side. It seemed like the dish had been sitting out under the lamp for a while as well but it was still delicious. The lobster bucatini was fresh and came with lots of sauce. I would have appreciated more lobster meat and pasta, the dish was mostly sauce and tomatoes. For dessert we had the cannoli cheesecake which was superb! I loved the crust and chocolate inside. Service was phenomenal, our waitress kept our waters full. The hostess was friendly and there is even a Photo Booth in front! The restaurant itself is relatively small with some tables separated with glass barriers but very cute and romantic with the rosemary infused oil as centerpieces. I've been craving good Italian foods and I'm so happy that my friends and I stumbled upon this place! Nice casual cozy atmosphere and really friendly staffs! We got seated right away just before 5:30pm on a Monday night. Just in time for happy hour so we got the focaccia with burrata and calamari. They were both really good! We then ordered the lobster bucatini, gemeli con oxtail and tagliatelle bolognese. All the pastas were cooked so well and the sauces were good too! The lemon cream sauce for the lobster bucatini was a bit too creamy for me so I added red pepper flakes and that helped. We also ordered desserts- lemon olive oil cake and the dark chocolate flourless cake. The desserts were decent, not something I would order again. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner here!
