We came to try this place for lunch and enjoyed the food. The reason why they did not get 5 stars (and why I am not sure if we'll return) was the unfriendly, arrogant vibe from the staff. No one bothered to greet us when we first entered, and that cold atmosphere continued when the server took our order. The place seemed to be adequately staffed for the number of patrons. I saw another table get bread and butter, but it was never given or offered to us. I ordered the chicken & artichoke ravioli and the clam chowder. We had a great time enjoying Saturday brunch at 10am with 2 families. We sat comfortably in the shady and quiet back patio. All the food tasted good, and was also of great value. $16 Brunch items included 2 hefty sides. Smoked Salmon Benedict - smoked salmon, cream cheese, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce on top of toasted English muffin. This was very good. Fried Chicken and Bacon Waffle - It was topped with white gravy, and syrup on the side. This was par, but not great. Grapefruit Brulee - half a grapefruit topped with burnt sugar, the sugar was a great complement to the tartness of the grapefruit, will need to do this myself at home from now on. Happy hour was definitely a huge disappointment. Ordered the Fish and Chips, which had been delicious previously. Last night, we couldn't even eat them. Tasted like two day old food, soggy, batter had an off putting flavor. The bartender never asked how our food was. While we were trying to eat, we watched him do various "dirty chores" (bus, wash counters, picked up things from the floor) answered the phone a couple of time, checked out others tabs, took money, proceeded to prep the bar (cut lemons, etc) wiped his hands on the dirty towel and NEVER WASHED his hands. Very disappointed to see this out in the open, makes you wonder what happens back in the kitchen. Definitely won't be back. read more

Used this venue for my reception dinner. Was able to pick a select menu and use their banquet room. The portions were huge and delicious. Had to take a to go box. Berry apple salad was really good. The room is a bit tight if you have a lot of folks i recommend no more than thirty so theres room to move around. read more

I hate leaving 2 stars for any restaurant but I have to be honest here and hope that management will see this and address the issues that happened on this Mother's Day. I made my reservations over a week ago and confirmed them so I assumed we'd be good to go. I knew it was a bad sign when I walked in and heard a group that had been waiting an hour WITH reservations. It was so gosh dang crowded, it was very difficult to even get to their register. But I stood there waiting to be acknowledged with lines of people filing in behind me. There was no host in sight. After 10 minutes I finally had to just interrupt a running waiter. James was apologetic and said it would probably be another 20-25 minutes. After 30 minutes I had to grab someone else to check on status as I saw dirty empty tables with no one cleaning them. What is happening here? We finally got seated. However, after 30 minutes no one acknowledged us or even brought water. We had to flag someone down to take our order. Here is the even crazier part, from the time the first person received their order to the last plate served, it was 45 minutes. 45 MINUTES. Of the 7 meals served, only two were pretty darn good (pancakes and frittata)....the rest were just ok and all very lukewarm or cold. Poached eggs on the chorizo Benedict were very overcooked. The muffins on my California Benedict were so hard I struggled to cut them with a knife. Bloody Mary was alcohol forward which I appreciated and needed for this fiasco so kudos to the bartender. From the time we got there till we left, it took 2 and a half hours which was insane. From what I heard from another customer, they were taking walk-ins as well as reservations so that was dumb. I truly felt bad for the wait staff. This was clearly not their fault. This was bad management hands down. And guess what? No manager even on sight on this busiest day of the year. We only found this out when my husband had to try and get our bill as he was going to talk to the manager and at least try to get a few drinks comped for this mess. Our waiter could have done a much better job of being empathetic and checking on us which he did not. It was pretty much a do it yourself. We had to go get our own ketchup, our side of hollandaise sauce, salt, pepper and even our drinks from the bar. You would think this lack of service and us having to serve ourselves would deserve a discount. We were instead told to email the manager. Because again, no manager on site. I am not a Karen by any means but damn, this was nuts. One of the servers was great though... it was her who we tipped $40 as this girl was busting her butt and deserved to be appreciated. I only wish I had got her name. At least we enjoyed each other's company and everybody on the patio would cheer when someone finally got served because honestly, all's you can do is laugh at this cluster of a Mothers Day at Betto's Bistro 2022. read more

The food is amazing and the owner Betto is so kind and takes such pride in his business. One of my faves hands down.

Ordered eggplant Parm and meatballs. Eggplant came without breading, called up and they told me it was gluten free... Even though it is served with pasta that is not gluten free. Mind numbing. They'd rather argue that the eggplant Parm shouldn't be breaded, although it's been breaded everytime I've ordered it there. Used to love it here, but the foods become hit or miss, mostly miss, and now the service is subpar. Meatballs came without sauce and we're cold. No lemon with calamari. Visit the Italian restaurant across the street, you'll be better off. read more

Warm and welcoming, we all dined on the covered patio in the back of the restaurant. You can dine out front, inside, or on the patio in the back. The staff was attentive and friendly. They were flexible while we chatted and looked over the items. Our food arrived quickly and was beautifully presented. We all enjoyed the items ordered - sharing bites from our plates. Just great. I was saddened by a downturn in the food preparation for the steak hash brunch dish. The dish was smothered in a grainy, dull, flavorless , thick sauce. The sauce camouflaged the food beneath. The meal would have been much better without the sauce. I ordered a Sprite soda with the meal. The Sprite was flat, very few bubbles of carbonation. The waiter took a long time getting back to us. I told the waiter it was flat. He took it and game back with the same drink but with more ice added and no fizz in it, flat. Another 20 minute wait for a replacement of Diet Coke which tasted better but still rather flat. I was without a drink for over an hour even with the meal on the table. I'm not blaming the server but the manager who's not training the servers and checking the carbonation tanks . The restaurant was very busy. They needed more servers. read more

Green salad with Caesar dressing - dressing was gross 2. Kids chicken tenders and fries- the fries were way to big and the chicken didn't taste fresh so I didn't let my daughter eat it 3.frito miso - so gross with gross raw garlic on top. Service was good. It's a shame how a restaurant with such good food has the experiences ruined by poor service. The restaurant was not incredibly busy but we had to wait awhile to get served. Not only that but when ordering our meals our waitress rolled her eyes as we ordered. We were not asked how well we would like our steaks done and some of the utensils and coffee mugs still had lipstick on it. I have a dear friend who lives in Morgan Hill who turned me on to Betto's. The food is delicious and the service excellent! Extensive lunch and dinner menus that I'd challenge anyone to not find something yummy to eat. Meat eaters, seafood lovers, and vegetarians will all find a tasty meal! I highly recommend it trying Betto's if you're in Morgan Hill or if you want to just take a little trip to try a new restaurant. #covid19 update: picked up brunch here today after cherry picking! Called in my order and it was ready when promised. I apologize that I didn't take photos of the food - we devoured it! I ordered two brunch entrees for $15.99 each, with two sides and choice of OJ or coffee. "Bacon and Avocado Omelette | Crispy bacon, avocado and melted cheddar" - great! Tons of bacon and cheese. Avocado served on top and it was half of a massive perfectly ripe avocado. Perfectly cooked. Yum. "Steak Hash | Grilled prime filet mignon, spinach, mushrooms, onions, and potatoes topped with poached eggs and hollandaise" - also great! The steak was a bit overcooked for my liking (they didn't ask for temperature request), but there was a lot of it. The mushrooms weren't just plain button mushrooms, but also some other varieties (enoki maybe?). Onions were almost caramelized (good thing!). The dish was pretty soggy though - and this was with the hollandaise on the side. I still devoured it and will happily order this again. If you're big on the hollandaise, this might let you down as it was definitely broken, but I'm not a fan of it anyway so no loss for me. ;) our sides were: "pancakes" - good! two average sized pancakes (and we ordered two of these sides) "1/2 waffle" - meh. Thin waffle, got soggy super-fast (and we ate within five minutes of picking up the food). Wouldn't order this one again "biscuits and gravy" - ok enough, but it was just one biscuit (menu said biscuits). Not the best but not the worst that I've had. We came in for lunch today. It was not too crowded and were seated quickly. The waitress was helpful and sweet, however, she was very soft-spoken. For most that's not a problem, but for someone like myself, who is hard of hearing and who wears hearing aides, it was very difficult to make out what she was saying. My chicken salad was really good and my grandson enjoyed his fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. My husband loved his French. We don't often eat here, and if I'm being honest with myself, I believe it's due to the lack of ambience. Overall we had a great experience with good service. I'm sure we'll be back. read more

Went out had a great dinner with my son and his wife in Morgan hill its a cute little downtown area found this place on the main drag glad we walk in food was excellent I had the angry shrimp dish very good and spicy my wife had the Caesar salad wow it was good my son he got the mahi-mahi very tasty his wife ordered the tri tip steak very good with a hint of brown sugar . It was late but the help was an excellent group of people the place is not real noisy like an old Italian place we ate outside in the back area nice and warm heaters all over the place nice set up I would go back to this place for sure oh I forget we ordered the calamari wow wow it was fantastic fresh very tasty read more

Today we had the truly excellent crab cakes, again the pear martinis, and one Cobb Salad and one Seafood Cobb, followed by the Dessert Sampler. I haven't felt the need to leave a review below 3 on Yelp, but this place should be ashamed to sell a $21 sandwich that tastes like cardboard. Maybe I should have known better than to order a sandwich at an Italian restaurant, but I wasn't really hungry and nothing sounded too appealing to me on the menu. I ordered the grilled NY Steak sandwich with sauteed veggies as the side, which was $20.99, and was supposed to include a 8oz NY steak, blue cheese, grilled onions, lettuce and tomato. I asked to take out the blue cheese, and the waiter confirmed my order by repeating it to me twice. Much to my disappointment, when it came, it had blue cheese... I then proceeded to let the waiter know, and received my food back again 10 minutes later. This was the blandest meal I have ever eaten in my life. Most sandwiches I eat always have some sort of sauce/ aioli, but this was simply lacking in flavor and texture. 1. The steak was fully cooked and well done. 2. The grilled onions were not grilled... they seemed to have been boiled. They had no flavor whatsoever. 3. Same with the "sauteed" veggies. This was such false advertising. This was literally rainbow cauliflower you get in the frozen aisle of Safeway and microwave to steam. There were brown spots of oxidation from the cauliflower - a clear indicator that it wasn't fresh. They didn't even bother to sauté it as it was simply boiled or steamed. They could have simply rewritten the menu to say it's steamed... in that case I could've just gotten a side salad. 4. Don't sandwiches usually include some sort of aioli/ sauce? Perhaps the pungent blue cheese was supposed to give this dish all of its flavor, but there was nothing redeeming about anything this sandwich had to offer. I had to ask for extra sauce, and they provided a burgundy steak sauce which enhanced the meal. 5. It included pickles, which wasn't written on the menu, but did not complement the dish. (and I usually do like pickles) On another hand, the young server was really courteous and polite throughout, but lacking in terms of taking action. I had to repeat requests (like bringing another fork). At the end of the night, he did apologize for his lacking service, and mentioned that tonight was a bit busier than usual, but I felt like that was a bit silly given that there were less than 4 parties and 30-40% occupancy on a late Tuesday night. We came here spontaneously as we were on our way home from Big Sur, and wanted to celebrate my dad's birthday with a nice meal before all restaurants closed. Reviews seemed to be high on Google, but Yelp seemed to have a more accurate depiction. Didn't even bother ordering dessert. Will not come back. read more

Our party of five went here for Easter brunch. Luckily, we made reservations because they were fully booked. Their brunch is such a great value for money...it's unbelievable! I ordered Crab Cake Benedict with a side of bacon and crepes with berries. It boggles my mind that my delicious order was only under $15. My husband was so happy with his Denver Benedict sandwich as well. I wish they'd open a branch near where we live! This review is only for their brunch though. Today is Father's Day, I get it, there are reservations and places are busy. But! We walked up, we're told by the host to wait 5 (turned into 10) minutes while they clear a table. Then the host says, "we have a table ready, but it's reserved and they are coming in one hour, can you be finished by then??" Are you kidding me? Keep in mind, there were plenty of open tables with reserved signs, that were vacant for at least the 10 minutes we were waiting. Here's the thing, the host said he "doesn't know what time the reservations are for?" Ok, so go look!!! We were frustrated and left. The only reason I gave an extra star was because I do like their brunch and they have great drinks. Generally the waiters are courteous. Took my mom to Bettos for lunch on Sunday. Nice looking place! Small but plenty of tables. We were seated right away. We both ordered the French dip sandwich. Big mistake. The sandwich was medium sized, but had very little meat inside the bread. The meat looked terrible. Took one bite and it didn't taste good at all. We both agreed. When the server came over to ask how our meal was, we told her "not good". She was apologetic. But we declined another meal. My wife and I are regulars at Betto's for a reason. The food quality is always good and the service is great. They CAN get very busy during holidays (especially things like Mother's Day as I have seen other reviewers mention) so you may want to temper your expectations if coming during those times. But being local, we are always greeted in a very friendly manner, most of the staff knows who we are, and we love coming here. I have dragged work friends here for lunch about once every three weeks now. Everyone loves the food and in particular the fries! They have a wide variety of dishes which are sure to appeal to someone in your group. read more

Came for a quick lunch today in between our children's activities and had an excellent experience! The kids got pasta and pancakes eggs and fruit. We each got a salad. The food was really good! It's hard to find a place with a menu that includes many different types of salads and these salads were fresh, with homemade dressing and knocked it out of the park. The service was excellent! Josh took such great care of us. The food came out fast. When it was time to go he helped us pack up our food quickly and gave us our drinks to go.
