Original Uncle Jerome's Nashville Hot Sandwich

Yeah, I think the description for the three stars is accurate. It's not bad, not great, just "ok". Service and staff are fine, as you would expect. Tables were a bit worn down and tired, but seemed clean as they could be. The shakes were good, definitely offer different types that other places and have texture and flavor. The regular chicken sandwich is fine, but there is certainly better hot chicken sandwiches out there. This trip I ordered the smoke show and fries. The fries were the best part, which says something for a chicken sandwich joint. I was super excited about the Texas-toast style bund but overall flavor was kind of meh.

We used to like this place but this last visit was really disappointing. I ordered a Big Cali chicken sandwich. It was $11.29 and had lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, avocado, and of course, a fried chicken patty. I took my first bite and not much chicken was there. Not surprising or out of the ordinary since that happens to a lot of chicken sandwiches. You get the juiciest and thickest parts in the middle. Well usually. I got through half way and it was still cardboard thin (see picture). It got slightly thicker from there but that's it. This doesn't happen at Chic-fil-a. I think this will be the last time I go here. I feel so ripped off. An employee thought it was reasonable to put this lame excuse of a chicken patty in my sandwich.

I would have given 3.5 stars if I could but rounded up to 4 because I grew up watching Shaq and wearing his signature Reebok sneakers. I got to try Nashville hot chicken tenders, the Original chicken sandwich, chicken sandwich with Nashville hot, cheese curds, Mac & cheese, and dirty fries. All were good! I wish Nashville hot was actually spicy, but that's okay. I really liked their Ancho sauce (had a unique smokey taste) and cheese curds were on point. Dave's Hot Chicken has better tenders and sandwiches, but this place is good too! This was an Uber Eats order. I will try in person next time and update this review.

My kids love this Chicken place. I mean, what's there not to! We try to mix it up here when we order to try out different items on the menu. Everything we have had so far is good. I like their sandwiches and the cheese curds since we're a cheese lovers. My son's fav is the Mac and cheese amongst others. Service is fast and cashiers are nice. Ambience is welcoming, it's clean and that's important! Must have for sure!

Don't got on a busy day! If there's an event happening at the Landing, wouldn't it make sense to have more workers? Can here after an event and waited at least 15+ minutes and they got my order wrong I ordered 2 items. I didn't get my kids drink or bowl of fruit and the Mac and cheese was filled up half way - maybe a 1/4 cup worth. So basically I paid $6.99 for Mac and cheese that I could have easily made at home. I'll give them one star for the chicken sandwich. At least that order was right. It came with fries. Over $15 for an ultimate combo. Overpriced for a burger and fries and drink. I like their drink selection of sodas and lemonade. There's a kiosk if you wanted to order that way. This was my first time there and not sure if I'd be back. Their desserts look good and I noticed one person doing those and another manning the order counter and one packing the food. There should have been 2 people packing up food. The eating area was rather small too.

Exactly what you would expect from a fast food place. Chicken was okay. Not great but not bad. My boyfriend and I both agreed we like ezells way better. Would eat here if there were no other options but definitely would try other places before landing back on this

Wanted to try out this place since we had some of their strips at a recent concert, and we were in the area. The food wasn't bad, but I don't think we would go out of our way to get it again. We ordered at the front counter and got our food within 5 minutes. We had a Philly sandwich which had great flavor, but had minimal meat and veggies and a chewy bun. The salad tasted good with the bacon bits and ranch dressing, but the hard fried onion ring on it had to be eaten by hand. There was also very little chicken on it. The Cali chicken burger was tasty. The fries were crunchy and good. It was weird that the "meal" only came with a sandwich and fries and no drink. We ordered the burger with the Mac and cheese to go, and you could only see the patty and very little of any toppings. We sat at the counter by the windows to eat, but had to hurry since the only parking spot open was a 15 minute spot. The parking lot was very crowded, busy, and tight! The guy said goodbye to us when we left. All in all, it wasn't a bad place, but was overpriced for sure.

Have ordered from here through GrubHub several times over the last year and the food was always consistent, but this week we ate in the restaurant. We were greeted by staff upon entering which was nice. We had ordered via their website; we had no trouble picking up our order from their friendly staff. Interior was reasonable, nothing particularly special other than one of their TVs happened to have cat videos playing on it (from TikTok or Youtube shorts, presumably). We had the classic chicken sandwich (good) and the Shaq Attack (very good) with fries (just fine--reasonably crisp & fresh). Large pieces of chicken in both sandwiches--really feel like the value is there in each sandwich. It's not the best chicken sandwich you can get in the greater Seattle area, but it's fast and consistently good. We'll keep coming back here.

First time visiting Big Chicken. Place was poppin. Always a good sign! Sandwich was good. I would use their breaded chicken with onion straws in a sandwich personally. It was still good. Strawberry lemonade was delicious. Mac and cheese was delicious.

Today is Labor day, the line was some what decent. They take the order pretty fast, but it took 20min before we got our food. They were quiet bust. We ordered Shaq Attack, Uncle Jerome with upgrade Dirty Fries instead of regular fries for a meal, and A Popcorn Chicken kids meal with sweet potato waffle fries. The crispness of the chicken from the sandwich to popcorn chicken are pretty nice, the flavour is there, not too overpowering. The waffle fries ok, the dirty fries comes with banana pepper, bacon bits, bbq sauce and melted cheese. You can add sauces, they have those near the drink fountains, they have: Shaq sauce, spicy bbq, sweet bbq and I can't read the other one. They have container and cap if you plan to bring them to go. As for beverage selections: they have soda fountains, sweet black yea, unsweetened tea and strawberry lemonade. Bottomless! Plenty of parking. Floor was a bit messy with food here and there. Restroom was yeah...has a fly flying around. Otherwise, it's great. Ps: plenty for parking in the renton landing area. They located across from Nibbana Thai Restaurant and next to Mattress firm.

We got two Nashville chicken sandwiches take out for lunch. Ordering online was easy and the pick up line was quick. I thought the chicken sandwich was big and tasty and I didn't mind the oiliness of it. It did cost over 11 bucks so while it's not bad but it wasn't too great.

The ultimate burger has a good combo with fried chicken patty with Mac and cheese and fried onions and have chipotle sauce is really good. Shaq attack burger has a nice bbq flavor in their cole slaw. Came here again because it's so good.

First time to the newly opened Big Chicken at the Renton Landing. I ordered the Shaq Attack with Avocado and my son got the Popcorn Chicken kids meal. Our food came out quick and tasted amazing. The Shaq Attack has a ton of the jalapeño slaw and the chicken tasted great. I believe they brine for a few days and it for sure helps with that flavor. My son enjoyed his food but said that the chicken was a tad spicy. He isn't fond of spicy food but I had a few pieces and I don't think it was that spicy but instead just right. Your mileage may vary if your kid likes no heat. The staff here was friendly and Vivianna hooked my son up with a chocolate cookie sample. Price wise, I think for what we ordered and the size of the servings it was what I would expect to pay. All in all, great lunch and we will be back for sure! read more

I think I'm only giving this a place a three because I'm a Shaq fan. I was excited to see that he had a restaurant near me so we took a 30 min drive to try it out. We order the Shaq attack and 2 sliders with Mac n cheese. There was no "attack" in the Shaq attack. Just a hint of oh that might be a little heat to it. So no attack at all. The sliders were DROWNED in ketchup and a mini baby slice of cheese. Not worth it. The Mac n cheese had absolutely no flavor. It was creamy but Kraft Mac n cheese has more flavor than this. The only upside was that the chicken was hot and juicy. Sadly this will probably be my first and last visit here. read more

Unfortunately, they got rid of their amazing fries and replaced them w/crinkle cut. Their unique cut of fry is one of the reasons we went there in the first place. They always seem to have trouble employee-wise, as well. We had a terrible time trying to get our CORRECT order last week, and the attitude of two of the staff members compounded the problem. Too bad - this place had potential. But if we're gonna pay over $30 for lunch for two, there are better options. read more

I will definitely be making it back to Big Chicken, the Service was exceptionally good and the restaurant was well cared for, wooden style meal tables with sports TV's, rolls of paper towels at every table so no need to worry about enough napkins but the food........ The food is exceptional and flavorful, with good ingredients, even the cheese sauce on his families "Dirty Fries" is homemade with mozzarella and cheddar and cream, not the runny unknown ingredients stuff , and they are delicious with banana peppers you can get them without bacon for those who refrain from bacon. The side Fries are so large you can share with two, or even three, depending on how much you usually eat! The Chicken itself is So Juicy and Very flavorful, and the whole meal for two didn't break the bank! I can definitely see myself spending and managing my earned dollars here. read more

I'm a huge chicken sandwich guy, so I had to make the trip down to Renton to try Big Chicken. I was impressed by the food and service. As soon as you walk in, you enter a friendly atmosphere with good vibes. A warm welcome from the staff as browse the menu. The store was nice and clean and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Now for the chicken sandwich. . . I ordered the Uncle Jerome. . . and was blown away. The chicken was nice and crispy on the outside, and nice and juicy on the inside, and seasoned perfectly. Tossed in Nashville hot oil, and topped with lettuce, mayo and pickles. The toasted brioche bun brings it all together. Each bite is the perfect texture, and just the right amount of heat, savory, and the pickles add just right amount of tang. Each bite is an explosion of flavor. I also tried the season fries which were an absolute treat. Crisp, perfectly seasoned and served hot. Just the way they should be. Just perfect! Excellent service. Pretty reasonable price-wise. All around great food at a great price. I will definitely come back to Big Chicken and recommend all chicken sandwich lovers come check it out too. read more

My husband and I have eaten Big Chicken three times, and each time it was delicious and consistent. I always get the Uncle Jerome with extra mayo (no one ever puts enough sauce or mayo on sandwiches these days, but they definitely listened to my request for extra!). Best chicken sandwich I've ever had, closely followed by a sandwich I had in San Francisco last year. The Uncle Jerome is spicy, but not too spicy. I enjoyed it. The breading is light, not super thick and heavy, with a lot of spices and flavor. The chicken itself has a good flavor. I like the texture of the buns, soft and not thick. I can't stand it when buns are 85% of the sandwich. The lettuce is good and the pickles taste great with the UJ. My husband has tried three others, and enjoyed all of them. The jalapeño slaw is really good, too. The one with the Mac and cheese on it had really good flavor! The fries, yes, come out...not very hot. However, in my opinion, they're still better than In-N-Out fries. Since we have never eaten in the restaurant, we just put the fries in the microwave. Problem solved. And I appreciate that they still taste better than McDonalds fries when they cool down. The sweet potato fries are decent. I do wish they were cooked a little longer, but that's just my preference. The Shaq sauce is SO good. And really, the fries are just a vessel for the sauce. It reminds me of a slightly spicy version of Red Robin's campfire sauce. It's delicious. Employees are nice. Every time my husband went in, he's been treated well and everyone seemed to be on top of things. Which stood out because we went when the restaurant just opened. So, they're doing well! All in all, I am definitely a fan. Minus one star because I really, reeeaaally wish the fries would come out hot. read more

Best chicken sandwich shop. It's small but very inviting to sit down and chit chat with some friends or family. The workers are really nice and polite, making you feel as though you are a friend of the establishment. I enjoy every visit I take, and would be a regular if I didn't live far away honestly. The sandwiches and soft served themselves are actually quite a good deal especially in Seattle. Not to mention, everything is good. I don't think there's any downsides. banana icecream sandwich: VERY artificial banana. i dont love the smell. cookie is good and it was nice after the meal. 6/10 fries: super interesting shape. ive never seen this before. dry without sauces tho. 6.5/10 sauces: 4 options. im a saucy gal so this was nice. 8/10 nashville hot sandwich: pretty crispy but super oily. 7.5/10 cashier was lowkey mean and did not look like she wanted to be there at all. 3/10 overall: 7/10. it was good but expensive. i wouldnt travel for it but if im getting boba and the homies are hungry i might eat there read more

I was sexually harassed in front of the register for about 20 minutes, staff did nothing. A woman was touching me and feeling inside my shoes while telling me she wants to "fuck my stud girlfriend". I tried to leave the situation but while waiting for my food, she proceeded to approach again and make more sexual comments. Staff watched, heard, and nothing was done. They used to have these unique awesome flat fries that were delicious. Now they switched to your basic 1960s diner krinkle fries. Skip going to Big Chicken, save some money and grab a bag of frozen Obrien krinkle fries from Target. The ones at Big Chicken are trash. read more

big chicken was worth the try, nothing too special. the caesar salad dressing was really flavorful and hefty. the chicken sandwich wasn't spicy which was disappointing. the gal that helped us was nice and we received our food quickly. the inside of the restaurant was decorated and clean. i would go back and try other items from the menu. read more

the fries were delicious, but greasy. I got the grilled cheese, it was HUGE, definitely cheesy, and delicious. their ice cream is very creamy. I wish they had the banana pudding ice cream sandwich, hence the loss of one star. read more

I ordered from the renton wa location tonight. I showed up 5 mins after the order was supposed to be ready, it was not and the lady told me to wait 10 mins. After 10 mins she told me rudely it wasn't ready yet. I then asked a different customer how long they had been waiting, he said 45 mins. So then i went and complained. My order had been ready before i got there but the employees did not even bother to look. They were rude and unkind. So disappointing. Will not be going back. read more

My husband and I went there for the first time. I will honestly say I was more DISTURBED by the employees, and the use of foul language especially when you have guests dining in. For me that makes me not want to EVER patronize this establishment again. The food was overall ok. Friendly at the cash register, food came out fairly quick and was nice and hot. Grilled chicken was juicy, fried was juicy and crispy and peppery. My only complaint is they closed off half the restaurant dining tables almost an hour before closing time. It was still busy with people either waiting to order or waiting for their food. With chairs blocking half the restaurant since they just mopped it made it really crowded around the pickup area and pop machine. I'm really annoyed by this trend of restaurants over the last few years of basically pre-closing everything before you're closed. Sweeping and cleaning floors is one thing but chairs up on tables and preventing flow through your restaurant with an hour left of service with plenty of people cooking through the door is so annoying. It's typically not from the owners plan and more of a management thing where employees believe since the restaurant closes at 9 that means they go home at 9 instead of shutting down and now cleaning up. I'll definitely come back and recommend based on the food and service at the register. read more

Established in 2022.

In 2022, Big Chicken approached us and asked if we would bring Shaq's chicken concept to the Greater Seattle Area. We soon discovered that the chicken is brined & fresh breaded and the recipes are all chef driven. In addition, the opportunity to work with Shaq's team sounded fun. We accepted and opened our first location in Renton WA the week before Christmas 2022.

Meet the Business Owner: David and Lorri J.

Lorri and I started the Blazing Onion Burger concept in March on 2007. Over the next 15 years, we expanding the brand to eight locations in the Greater Seattle Area. In 2022, Big Chicken approached us and asked if we would bring Shaq's chicken concept to the Greater Seattle Area. We accepted and opened our first location in Renton WA the week before Christmas 2022. The community has embraced us and sales are strong. Soon we plan to open in Mukilteo and Shoreline. Man, let me tell you about my experience at BIG CHICKEN - it was amazing! As a huge fan of Shaq, I was excited to try out this new chicken spot, and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, but what really blew me away were the epic sauces!!! From the moment I walked in, I could feel Shaq vibes all around me. The restaurant has a fun and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were super friendly. And the food OMGoodness, the food! The chicken was cooked to perfection and had the most delicious crispy exterior. But what really set it apart were the sauces. As a lover of all things spicy, I went straight for the Spicy Chipotle BBQ, and the Buffalo Style Hot Sauce and they did not disappoint. The heat and the sweetness were perfectly balanced, and it paired perfectly with the juicy chicken. But I didnt stop there, I had to try all the sauces! The Shaq sauce, bbq ranch, sweet & Smoky Memphis bbs, and the Carolina honey mustard. There are all delicious and packed a flavorful punch that kept me dipping for more. The patty is juicy and full of flavor, and condiments did not fall out as easily from the sesame buns. I only got some of the condiments for this burger and forgot to ask to have it "all the way," which essentially means having everything listed on a list of condiments in my burger. Regardless of that, burger was still really good! They also list on a paper near the front counter the vendor where they get their potatoes for their fries, which I found pretty cool.
