Traveling by with our 7year old grandson SuperMario fan, we just had to stop for pizza at Big Mario's. Glad we did! Friendly servers and customers. Everyone was so nice and helpful and kind. Seems kind of weird to add kind- but they were! The pizza was a hit: classic pepperoni. Large enough to satisfy our hunger and a slice for little guy's lunch today. Note; 21 an older after 10, so expect a dive bar look. The big TV had a nature show (soundless) on in the small room and sports in the big(ger) half of the restaurant. Outside eating available but not used in February. Will stop again sans kid and will drink one of the cold beers with the pizza. Enjoy!

This review is for takeout, and this is the second time we have had this experience. The first time my Seattle-raised partner recommended this place to help with my NYC pizza withdrawal it delivered. The crust wasn't amazing, but it was solid NY-style pizza that made my regular rotation. Unfortunately, things have changed. Prices have jumped while portions have shrunk, and at $35 per pie, I expect more than what my partner accurately described as "not mediocre...bad." Our recent order proved the point: a Pear Gorgonzola, Hawaiian, and a calzone stuffed with way more dough than filling. The pizzas were sparse on toppings, and that red sauce gorgonzola combo was genuinely awful. When you're charging premium prices, you can't serve budget portions.

Went with the fam. The 18" cheese pizza at Big Mario's is the real deal for New York-style pizza lovers. It's got those wide, foldable slices with a perfect balance of gooey cheese and a slightly tangy tomato sauce. The crust is thin, with just the right crispiness around the edges but still soft enough in the middle to fold like a true NY slice. It's simple, but that's the magic--nothing fancy, just good pizza that lets the ingredients do the talking. Whether you're sharing it with friends or taking down a few slices on your own, it hits the spot every time. Perfect for when you're craving a classic, no-frills pie. Reducing stars as they didn't have more than 3 pizzas to grab by the slice. Plus the place is a little too dark themed for me. They do have a bar but the entertainment is lacking, one TV playing "Scooby Doo" :-)

    Perfectly cooked....ingredients on point...yessssss...let's go!!!!

I have never experienced...in my life...a pizza...worthy of the highest praise possible. I never knew a crust so crisp...a cheese so perfectly toasted...a blend of sausage and mushroom and oregano that reminded me of my youth...eating Celeste brand "Zesty" toaster pizzas Whoever made this pizza...I bow to you!!! Cheers!

Forgot the name- some special pizza and it was good!

This place is big thumbs up for great ambiance and even greater staff. We live a drive away and we never regret making the drive for some pizza and drinks. The pizza always hits the spot. The crust is thin and crispy but at the same time has the perfect amount of fluffy texture. Plus you get to watch the dudes throw the dough in the air while enjoying classic VHS movies. Fun fact that we heard was they have somebody who creates VHS tapes for them. So cool to see it all on shelves around the place. For parking, pretty easy street parking if it's a quiet night. Also Ice box arcade is just across the street to enjoy after drinks and pizza.

Big Mario's Pizza was featured on the cork board at our airbnb and low and behold, it was within walking distance as well. My husband made the walk and ordered two slices of Pepperoni pizza for us. We love a good slice of pizza and Big Mario's Pizza definitely fit the bill! But then again growing up my favorite pizza joint was Sbarro, so I don't know what that says about me LOL! My husband told me that the dive bar was pretty chill. He said there were a lot of "hipsters" hanging out there. But concluded that it looked like a great place to chill and hangout with buddies! Had we not had our toddler with us, we would have stayed for a drink too! The service was great both times! I really love the neighborhood it's located in and if I were able to move to Seattle one day, I'd love to be near here!

The pizza itself is actually pretty good, which is why I kept coming back and really wanted to support this small business. Unfortunately, the customer service and wait times have consistently been disappointing. Tonight, I stood at the entrance for about 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged or greeted me. The employee who eventually helped me was nice, but the overall experience still didn't feel welcoming or attentive. Over several visits, the service has just not matched the quality of the food. In this economy, it's truly a blessing for businesses to still have loyal customers coming through the door and wanting to support local spots. At the very least, customers should feel welcomed, appreciated, and taken care of when they walk in. I genuinely hope they improve the service side of things because the food has potential, the bar vibes they've created are pretty cool as well and I'd love to be able to give this place a better review in the future.

Upon arrival after 9:00 pm on a Tuesday, we asked to set in one of the booth but they said no because of their strict policy for the booth the used x 3 or more people. Meanwhile, all 4 booth were empty. The kind waitress then offered to move us to the bar booth if something opened up, we kindly agreed and simple went on with our night at different table. While on the table my friend picked up 3 small little flowers from the base and said happy birthday to me, and I put the little flowers on my hair, then I told the waitress I hope you don't mind, my friend gave this little flowers from the table it is my birthday, to which the waitress replied happy birthday, I have no problem with that!. Then comes the manager, and tells me sarcastically, that is a cute flower but it is not yours to take, you should have asked permission anyways, I told him with a smile, but is my birthday and it a tiny flower may I keep it? He stated no, because other costumers will come in and there are no flowers in the table. I told him to replace it with another from another table and he said No give it back now please. It is not yours to take!!! Me, already feeling unwelcome and missed treated, yet still stayed but couldn't even finish my pizza because of how upset I was. I told my friend I wanted to leave. After closing the tab, I walked upfront and waited for my friend. Upon walking outside, the managers comes after us screaming "hey give me back the flower" you took it, at this point I was still walking ahead on my friend and I can hear the manager yelling "she stole it" give it back now, she is a thief, you come here to steal is that it? I repeatedly, told him I didn't take it and even open my purse and told him to come search it, but he stormed back in while insulting and yelling to me IN PUBLIC! - I was deeply humiliated in front of absolute strangers. I didn't see my friend taking the flower either, and if he did, he never gave it to me otherwise, I would have throw it at his face. The luck of hospitality, professionalism, and simply compassion and dignity from this person is Absolutely Unacceptable. I was treated with far more respect and the Four Seasons (and they did give me flowers), than this ridiculous place. It is a shame that the owner would allow someone like this to be the front of the business. And I feel deeply sorry for their employees to have to endure this person as I saw on their eyes the embarrassment they felt. I deserve nothing else but an apology for the way I was treated. I too work in hospitality, I know what is like to provide costumer service providing healthcare and never in my wildest days would I ever treat anyone with such disrespect and unprofessionalism. I recommend this person to be replace or re train. Otherwise it will only affect the business.

They are the nicest people ever! So friendly and accommodating and always smiling. Their pride in their restaurant really shows in their care of the food and customers. I had the infamous meatball sandwich and my wife had the chicken carbonara. They gave us each a slice of their pizza for free as they had a bit extra from one that just came out of the oven. The food was prepared in front of you which is always interesting to watch and the charming brick pizza oven was directly in front of us so we could watch that process as well. Pretty cool. There are a wide variety of pizzas and pastas, desserts and drinks (alcohol too!) available on the menu. We ate at at the bar and had a wonderful conversation with the owners as they bustled about in the open cooking area. I enjoyed my meatball sandwich which had great crunchy crusty bread that held in the contents of melted cheese, red sauce and meatballs. A great choice to get when there. My wife liked her chicken carbonara and as the portion was pretty large, we were able to take some home for later. Extra yummy for me (ha ha)! The complimentary pizza slices were a hit for us as well. Napoli style with thin crust and flavorful toppings. We found out that Goli created the restaurant's design with the face of a woman that looks a lot like Venus in "The Birth of Venus" painting by Botticelli in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence Italy (just sayin'). Except that this logo has hair made of pasta! Good enough to eat! Give this place a try. You'll leave with a big smile on your faces!

We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

Oh well, I guess I will be back! The woman heated up my slice and after a few minutes, it was ready. I took my slice and went to sit outside near Pioneer Square so I could be outside and people watch. Pizza was tasty and solid, but the crust was too dry. I have a feeling the slice wasnt the most fresh, so thats why the crust was a bit dry. But, if you know me, I do jot like soggy pizza (I mean - who does??), so a bit drier isn't too big an issue. The rest of the slice was good. Slice of pizza and a diet coke came to close to $9. Gosh things are so expensive now. They do have a special of 2 slices for $8.99 but I couldnt eat two slices. Unfortunately, the experience is consistently dampened by one of weekend bartenders. As others have mentioned, it's that taller bartender (Alex?) who repeatedly comes across as arrogant and dismissive to us; a less than desirable character trait for a bartender. It's such a pity because that is the sole reason we now lead our groups to spend their money and patronize other establishments instead. Recently we did give Diller another try, but sadly it's the same story and thus this feedback. Hospitality makes a HUGE difference. Bartending isn't just about making a good drink and expecting tips. As someone who tended bar all over Seattle for 23 years, I know how much energy and attitude shape a guest's night. When the service feels cold and passive-aggressively rude, it's hard to feel good about the experience. It's disappointing, because this place has so much potential. Hopefully management considers bringing in weekend staff whose personalities reflect the warmth and atmosphere the space deserves, there are plenty of more qualified bartenders in Seattle that would gladly fill their spot.
