I had a great experience here---the server, the DELICIOUS brisket, and the beer selection! I think the owner himself was working in the back getting our food and the service was so friendly and helpful. They informed us that they ran out of brisket and only had the "burnt tips" but he told us that he personally thinks the tips are better. So we said we were fine getting these burnt tips and oh wow. He wasn't kidding. The meat was so juicy and so flavorful. The bbq sauces were all different and unique. My boyfriend liked the blueberry slaw as well. And we left with one of our favorite beers - a sixpack of watermelon beer! It's in a tiny strip and from the outside, it doesn't look like much, but thanks to yelp, we stumbled upon this little place and it was terrific from start to finish. read more

I typically have their pulled pork sandwich with their carolina style BBQ sauce, good value, and a great full meal. Every so often we have a few food trucks come by my place of employment and set up for the lunch hours - 11:30 to 1:30. I hate to be a downer, but my experience with Big Mike's today was by far the worst experience I have had with any of the trucks that have come through. Not only were the prices higher than what was advertised on their website, but they were absolutely the least prepared group of people serving food on wheels. More than half of the menu had been crossed off when I got to the window shortly after 12:00, but I placed my order anyway since I was in the mood for some Q. Nearly 40 minutes later I finally got my plate, but they had also run out string beans between the time that I ordered and was finally served, so I had to settle for a double shot of baked beans. There is no reason for a plate of BBQ and two small cups of baked beans, to take 40 minutes to plate. We all know that the BBQ was most likely cooked yesterday. read more

Once upon a time..not that long ago..there was a family that traveled just a few miles in Ca, NC just to find everything they hoped and wished for relating to homegrown, old-fashioned, and absolutely PERFECT BBQ. This family was mine. And this BBQ was found at Brew N' Que. Our main courses were the Beef Brisket sandwich w/ the potato salad, the Big cheesy w/ a side of collards & Big Mikes burger w/a side of Mac & cheese. The main courses were just AMAZING!!! Words can't describe how perfect the meat was... juicy, tender, just perfect! However, the sides were not as good as I expected. They were not bad by any means but they were a little lack luster in the light of the main courses! Now the sweets?!?! OMG THE BACONANA PUDDING!!!! Soooooo delicious. First off I would like to give this 3.5 stars but I can't. It's kind of your run of the mill food truck vendor. The foods good, although he does seem to run out fairly quickly of stuff. If you're looking for high quality bbq then you're probably better off going to a fixed locale but for something that sits on 4-wheels you can't go wrong by eating here, unless you're on a diet. I just moved to the area so this was my first bbq food truck in the raleigh/durham/cary area so I can't attest that its the best here, but I was born in raised in the south so I know what good bbq tastes like and this was decent bbq and mac & cheese. Coming from a city (Charlotte) that has a substantial food truck scene the prices are fairly inline. However I think people are used to getting cheap bbq from small family establishments which is why you might see a gripe or two regarding this issue. Big Mike was super friendly and even tried to refund my money when they were out of tea and I saw him refund other people some money when their food took a long time. I will definitely eat it again, I just don't know if I will go completely out of my way for it. read more

I usually eat at the same four places for lunch when we decide to order out at the office. Decided to go outside of our little "box" and try something new... and Yelp led me here. When I called to place my to go order, the lady who answered the phone was very informative and kind. Being in the service industry, that's a huge plus. I can't stand people that stand rushed or annoyed to be talking to you. When I arrived to pick up my order, she was just a lovely in person. There was an AWESOME beer display all around the walls in the front as you walk in, and just an all around awesome atmosphere. When I finally got back to the office and started eating the Brisket with Collards and Coleslaw I ordered.... PHEW... I'm sold. That Brisket was amazing. Worth every penny. Tell all your friends. I stopped in at Brew N Que last evening after work, and it was well worth it. I had the chopped chicken, mac and cheese, and the baked beans. EEEEKKK! I had no idea this gem was located so close to my house until just recently. Boy, am I glad I found out, too. The only drawback is the size of the space. Props to the team at Brew N Que for making this space work, but for the customers, you could be facing a bite of a wait. However, it's worth it. The smoked potato salad was really good.. like a loaded baked potato but instead of bacon adding the smokiness to the dish, real smoke is added in! The mac and cheese is your typical mac and cheese, good, not great, definitely not bad. The collards are yummmmm. Simple collards done the right way are hard to come by, and Brew N Que pulls it off. The baked beans are decent, a little too pork-y for my taste. But they still hit the spot. I had the smoked chicken and my boyfriend had the pulled pork. The chicken was yummy, but if you don't enjoy "smoke-y" foods, you might not love it. Load it up with the sweet and spicy sauce and some of the Carolina BBQ vinegar based sauce and you really can't tell that its got all that smoke flavoring. The pulled pork was really good. Tender and flavorful. I think pig does a better job of taking on the smoke flavor, because its much more subtle in the pulled pork. If I came back again, I would try the wings. I hear they are to die for. OHHHHH, and the BURNT ENDS!!!! I noticed they were on the special board as I started eating. So, so sad. If you don't know what burnt ends are and have never had them, you are really missing out. They are the fatty ends of the beef brisket that have become caramelized throughout the long process of smoking the brisket. MAN, OH MAN. They are wonderful. This place is really inconsistent, but last night was the worst. Picked up 1.5 lbs of brisket, and instead of tender smoked meat that pulls apart easily, the meat was tough and rubbery. What makes that especially bad is the price. $28/lb for what we got last night is ridiculous. The "Eastern NC" chopped pork wasn't any better, and I'm not sure whoever was responsible for it has ever actually had true Eastern NC chopped pork. No seasoning, not chopped very well, fatty, and the vinegar sauce was on the side and basically just vinegar. Very likely my last time at Big Mike's, which is too bad because there aren't any other good BBQ places nearby. read more

I love this place! Their redneck nachos are amaaaazing! Blue cheese cole slaw and damn good bbq. Also had a Mac n cheese burger there once, not sure of the name, it was huge and delicious. I shared with two others and was still completely stuffed when I was done. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the food can sometimes be soggy. Found this place via Yelp. My wife and I sat at the counter and had dinner @ 6:45PM on a Friday. This is a bottle shop/restaurant, seating is very limited. We had the wings as an appetizers and these could be eaten with just the dry rub, no sauce, and they would have been excellent...but I highly recommend the sweet barbecue sauce. I had the chopped pork, because they were out of the brisket...a very common occurrence it would seem based on the reviews. I had the collards and blue cheese slaw and a side of the cornbread. The collards were tinder and perfectly seasoned. The slaw was good, but not particularly special. The cornbread was buttery and moist. My wife had the chopped pork sandwich and smoked potato salad...which she really liked. I was disappointed that they were out of brisket. Perhaps more brisket should be made each day since it's one of the main offerings on a limited menu and BnQ seems to run out frequently (based on the reviews). I would concur that the price/proportion ratio is a bit high. I didn't leave hungry, but I think the price of the sides is a bit high for what you get, especially for the cornbread. Lastly, they had nine craft beers on draft, two that I'd never had so I had those. The staff was friendly. The food was good. The main reason I can't give a 5th star is value. Back to brew n que after a hiatus. Had the food truck last week at the ncmoa event. Decided to bring along a few friends to try out the restaurant. First of all, limited seating. We were a group of 5. The picnic benches and bar was full. The service was very slow.. but waitresses were very nice. Last time I was here I got 2 sides with my brisket - now it's one. My portion was much less than the food truck and any other time I have been here before- however it was filling. I was just used to having leftovers. The coleslaw was on par as was the smoked potatoes - which are a must! My friends loved the place and will be back. read more

I love Southern cooking and BBQ. Each region has its own take when it comes to BBQ and wanted to try some East Carolina que when in town. Big Mike represents the Carolina que well. I had the burnt ends and pork. Both were good. Sides were also solid (I had the greens and Mac and cheese). Just a warning for those who like BBQ from Memphis, Kansas City or St. Louis, Carolina que is different and more vinegar and less sweet. The first time we were at this location, the cook in the back was "chin strapping" their mask. Hoping they've made improvements, we decided to try them again. This time not only did both cooks have their masks pulled down below their nose and mouth, but one SNEEZED openly (without even attempting to cover their mouth) twice DIRECTLY OVER THE FOOD they were preparing to serve to customers. Needless to say, once I received my take-out meal (which was part of the food that was sneezed on), I placed it directly in the trash. The cleanliness in this place is sickening. Brew N Que just stole the trophy for the enviable "Favorite BBQ Joint in the Triangle". That really is *quite* honorable, considering the competition. What stood out? First and foremost, the service was outstanding. I could not ask for a friendlier, more prompt or accommodating experience. The BBQ was a serious knockout. Luckily, I stumbled upon this inconspicuous gem on a day ribs were on the menu - they are on special certain days of the week and otherwise are not available. Both the ribs and pulled pork had a uniquely, non-overwhelming, robust smoke flavor. Their meat is locally sourced and you can actually take some pasture raised meat home with you. The ribs practically fell off of the rack, served perfectly coated in their house made sweet and tangy/Western NC sauce which was another stand-out. I'm typically a vinegar base/Eastern NC or dry rub person, but their recipe was on sweet-zingy-point. Brew N Que features a large local craft beer selection on tap. Bring your growlers and fill em' up! Their small, cozy space doubles as a craft bottle shop. Not a great space for large groups, but they do cater and offer take out. Another bonus? They have a reward card which I will definitely work to fill up for $11 off and free banana pudding! I absolutely must come back to try the smoked potato salad - I hear it's their signature home made side. read more

So look, I drove 10.25 hours from the great state of New York to Cary, NC and after all that road rage, I was HANGRY. You know what I'm talking about. You've been driving and dealing with inept morons all day, and you were effing starving. Me and my boys stopped and this place and it was stellar. The girl behind the counter had a great charm about her, gave the rundown on what the place was known for so we ordered everything she told us. I don't regret a single damn thing. We ate every last bite. Pants buttons were popping and we were nearly rolled out. The pork was perfect. The Big Cheesy sandwich is the best comfort food on the planet. The Piggy Mac was clearly made with love. Let's not forget the sides, kale slaw with the perfect blend of rejuvenation to your pallet and a nice little bite. The smoked potato salad...if you don't choose this side, you are un-American. Let's not forget the beer options. There were a many beers to choose from to add that perfect little touch to your meal. They have an incredible beer selection too, but their BBQ plates are out of this world and the cheesy potatoes side (can never remember the name!) is so great. My husband and I highly recommend the wings. They are dry rubbed and slow-smoked until crispy. They even stayed crispy after a 25 minute ride in the car. The brisket is a very close second...with so many delicious, meaty options...it's hard to choose. There are a variety of sides to choose, and our picks are the smoked potato salad and kale slaw. The smoked potato salad is a star...which says a lot coming from a NC resident. Also, I'm not a big fan of slaw and I LOVED the kale salad. Small shop, I heard it was a food truck but it got so popular they opened a brick & mortar shop. Simple menu - decently priced. I like that they also sell beer, including single bottle in the fridge. I opt for that instead of their tap beer which was priced quite high. Definitely check out the fridge. Overall food quality was good - solid wings and brisket. Mac & cheese & collard was good too. I also tried the grilled pimento cheese, a little light on the pimento cheese IMO. Definitely a good local spot to try out if you enjoy BBQ. read more
