I have passed by this place for years and didn't give it much thought. Today, on a recommendation from my sisters, I stopped in to bring something to their house to compliment a pizza she was making. She told me that the meatballs were good and that I should surprise them with whatever I thought looked good. I was surprised when I walked in the place. There's the busy to-go counter for pickup and to-go ordering and then there's a nice size room with tables and plenty of seating. I decided to order the meatball appetizer, an order of their spicy wings and a tortellini dinner with Alfredo sauce, salad and garlic bread. Everything that I brought to my sisters was a hit. The meatballs were very tasty and light, the wings had a nice spice but not overpowering the palette and the tortellini Alfredo was excellent. My sisters raved about the Alfredo sauce and we talked about dining in there on my next visit to San Pedro. We will be there for sure!!! read more

Man it's kind of disappointing and frustrating. The Long shoreman Pizza was a weekly ritual. Definitely something I used to rant and rave about to everyone. And now unfortunately over the last couple years I've gotten it, each pizza has managed to disappoint more than the last. At this point can't justify the cost of this pizza. I am very glad I stumbled upon Big Nick's Pizza. I really like the decoration and how everything is well put together. The service was friendly, attentive, and fast. The food was delicious. The pizza was great with flavorful pizza sauce. You can tell they use quality ingredients and the pizza dough was cooked to perfection with a semi crunchy crust and a soft dough in the inside. I also ordered the sample platter which included zucchinis, jalapeño poppers, chicken, wings, and mozzarella sticks. Everything was delicious. My only recommendation would be to cook the chicken wings, a tad bit longer. Another appetizer we got was a fried calamari one of the best I've had. My girlfriend ordered the lasagna and I have to admit it was good but definitely had better however I wouldn't say it's bad so with that being said, I would leave that to your discretion and give it a try. Other than that, I would say parking is quite difficult if you go during dinner time which is when I went, you will have a hard time finding parking. read more

When we walked in, we were greeted with a deli counter. But they had another room for dine in. I was not expecting the decor of the restaurant. For a small space, It had white washed brick walls, dark "tin" tile ceiling and Italian themed pictures. There's a small bar where the barkeep takes your order and also serves you. We ordered the longshore pizza (cheese, prosciutto, sausage) all pizzas have a cute name and some wings. Both were really tasty and we even had enough to take home. Their menu also had sandwiches and calzones as well as dinner entrees. Definitely, we'll be back when we are in San Pedro. read more

I have no complaints about the pizza, when it isn't sliding off the side. I liked being able to customize (but I do not recommend their sandwiches or pasta, even though the sauces are okay). I have been getting the same pizza order for over a dozen years, every week $70. We've tried other items from time to time but have had it messed up so many times in the last year that I am over it. I pick up every time and since the reno it seems the staff is just not on top of it anymore and definitely less than pleasant to deal with. This might be one of the best pizza spots in the South Bay! We ordered 2 small pizzas, a Margherita with came with cheese tomatoes and fresh basil, and a bbq chicken with came with bbq sauce, chicken, cheese, pickled onions, and basil. Both of them were absolutely scrumptious. The crust was perfectly cooked, and all the flavors of the pizza really came through. As someone who was born and raised in the South Bay her whole life, I'm always hearing things about Big Nick's Pizza. I grew up on Red West Pizza (located in Lomita), Pregio Pizza (located in Wilmington) and all of the other most popular pizza chains out there (Domino's, Little Caesars, Pizza Hut, Papa John, Pizza Loca) I finally decided to try Big Nick's this past Monday; Memorial Day. I called ahead of time to make sure they were open during the holiday. They confirmed they were open to 11pm, which I was surprised, but also happy. When I got to the restaurant, the atmosphere gave me classical brick oven pizza restaurant type vibes. Our server came and sat me and my husband down. The server was a skinny, young, black-haired millennial type boy just like myself. They do not have any big, bulky menus, but instead you have to use the take out menus. Our server was the only one working that day so it did take a while for him to get our drinks and take our orders. We didn't mind though since me and my husband had no other plans for the rest of the day. We ordered our drinks and ordered potato wedges and stuffed mushrooms for the appetizers. They were delicious and big portioned. We were surprised at how big the appetizer portions were. The potato wedges were crispy and chewy. The stuffed mushrooms were tasteful and had just the right amount of seasoning. I ate all the stuffed mushrooms by myself as I am a lover of mushrooms. We ordered our meals next. I ordered the "Hey Slick" sandwich and my husband ordered the "Mobster" sandwich. Both very delicious. We also ordered a small combo pizza. The portions were so big that we couldn't finish all the food. Overall, great Italian food if you're in the area! I recommend Big Nick's. read more

Friday evening, so busy was to be expected. Got there and got my name on the list to wait to dine in, I was told about 30 minutes, waited close to that amount of time for a table, and when it became available, it was given away to a party that had literally arrived 10 minutes before the table became available, they didn't even have to put their name down. When I mentioned that we were actually next, I was told by the waiter "sorry, I already sat them, you'll gave to wait for the next one, should be about 10 more minutes" not really his fault, since the hostess that took my name should have made him aware, but they just pretended like the didn't know what I was talking about. I guess I put too much faith in their system. I had just asked the hostess where I stood in the line when I saw them cleaning the table, but I guess it didn't matter. Only thing I can think of is that they must have known that party to accomodate them so fast. All speculation of course on my part. This was Friday evening, 1/17/2025, between 6:30 and 8:00 pm. My son wanted to try their pizza, so I got one to go so he could try it, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered giving them any of my money after what they had just pulled. Didn't expect a discount or apology because I could see they didn't care, didn't look to me like they were the owners, more like employees so it's to be expected. At least they got the to go pie order out fast . So a potential dine in, possibly spending $50-70 turned into a take away pizza, for $18. Silver lining, saved myself some $ and probably more wait time & crappy service. This was my first time here, the place came very highly recommended, first impressions matter, shame this wasn't a good one. To the counter staff and waiter, do better, you owe it to the owner(s), maybe you are related to the owners, maybe not, I don't know, but you should care a little. We've been coming to Big Nick's for years but have not been in a couple years and, even with the current situation, they are just as good as always! It was a spur of the moment decision so we ordered there and waited in the car for the order to be ready and took it home. They are located in a strip mall so there is plenty of parking in the lot. Ordering was quick and payment was contactless. The staff were masked, gloved & friendly. We both ordered a whole Boss sandwich and split a small combo pizza which added up to a lot of food for two people LOL The Boss comes with roast beef, sauteed mushrooms, sweet peppers, grilled onions, mayo & provolone and it's one of the best hot sandwiches I've ever had. Their pizzas are easily the best in San Pedro! A great crust, plenty of toppings and not too much sauce. The Combo pizza comes with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms & olives. No matter what else I order I always get a pizza, it warms up great for breakfast :) One more thing I recommend are the salads! Yes, Yes, Yes. I love this little spot. Although I will like to emphasize on the small dinner area. It is more for intimate groups 4 or less is the right number. They can accommodate 6+, but then service gets backed up. So be mindful of the capacity they are able to accommodate all guest not just your own party. The food is family style which is great. There is an undertone of freshness with each bite when it come to the ravioli which is always been my favorite. It comes to you piping hot so be careful or breathe like the fire breathing dragon if you cannot resist. The pizza in my opinion are more dough than I would like but if you enjoy thick crusted pizza this is the place to be. It is in a little shopping center so parking is limited.
